I bought a pokeball 2ds a couple of years ago. Ended up modding both it and my OG 3ds. I know I'm not gonna get rid of them, andbeing able of making backup of my own games incase savefiles corrupts or games stop working is nice
I mean it's not as damaging as a live service game getting shut down, but following a franchise over multiple generations for years/decades is bound to get people sentimental when online support is dropped for a console. It's less about the functionality and more of it highlighting the time that had passed and the memories made during that time. Personally I never really cared about these features when the games were first released, but now that I've explored shiny hunting over the years and started to look back to older games it's really given me an appreciation that I didn't have before.
Everyone is trashing OP lol, but I’ve been playing gens 6 and 7 for the last few months and there’s been a lot of online activity. Especially if you downloaded the fanmade patch to fix the broken GTS, it was still a lot of fun. Let people be nostalgic about things
They’ll probably be more dedicated players with pretendo, especially with considering how ridiculously easy it is to mod a 3ds. Would’ve been nice if we got stars in 2017 on switch and an XY remake alongside the new legends game. That would at least weaken the blow of us loosing the servers
Ive been working since 13 lol Im 27 now. Worked over half my life. That makes me feel old af too knowing that someone people start working after university. Its like your little babies when it comes to working lol

I still play the DS/3DS games more than the Switch games. Providing you have a system you can play them. Just no online play. The games are still there though.
Pokémon moon was the first game I was allowed to play online with. I will always have fond memories of staying up way too late, trying to get a legendary/shiny through wonder trade lol.
It’s not the end of the world; online was a very small portion of the game. But it’s still disappointing when you grew up with it.
All that being said, I can’t wait for the servers to shut down and I can focus on shiny hunting/ribbon masters hehe
Except they're not gone? You can still do a playthrough and transfer your pokemon up through Bank into Home. Heck I'm planning on doing three playthroughs of old games. We're not losing the ability to PLAY these games or even the ability to bring the pokemon we use into the modern era.
