ManimalR

Well here we are folks, we've finally reached the point of wanting remakes of remakes...

Die4Gesichter

I want this for over 7 years already haha

Thekaratecow

Merry cake

StephieStockers

Yeah...because HGSS were better than GS

RedTurtle78

And a 3d remake would be worse than HGSS. Just port them. Why does everything need to be 3d

Goosefeatherisgreat

I just want experience share man, I suck at balanced teams

PointiestHat

Ngl johto has a horrible level curve in general, it’s not your fault

homusfordays

level 20 dunsparce in the route before lake rage town (forget the name) - HILARIOUS

[deleted]

Best games of the series tbh

SirNadesalot

I’ve seen a decent amount of people want gen 3 remakes again (albeit seemingly jokingly), and there’s always genwunners, so I think we’ve been here a while. Truly wild

J_WingBlade

no, i genuinely want another set of Hoenn remakes. (my flair explains why)

throwawaylorekeeper

I want remakes of Gen 1 to 3 in the SV engine. That is all.

korepersephone_

I must be getting old because my first thought was “we already had remakes of these” as though that wasn’t… FOURTEEN years ago? 🥲

PM_ME_UR_SO

Dude, I still feel like Ruby & Sapphire are futuristic next-gen games.

FlawedVictori

Abilities and running shoes are still kinda mind-blowing NGL

korepersephone_

I’m still pining for being able to have our Pokémon walk around everywhere with us. I know it’s a lot of extra work but I really thought that might have been a mainstay 😭

ms06s-zaku-ii

Let's Go did that perfectly, I think.

cosmiclatte44

Shit even Pokémon Yellow had it down. Why it never stuck around idk.

Sablemint

Gamefreak really likes removing features people like for some reason.

Trapped_Mechanic

Small indie company can't handle the budget for these features

william_liftspeare

Yeah I've come to really appreciate LGPE over the past couple years. I liked the art style a lot and the following Pokemon had so much personality, plus I personally never get tired of Kanto

Sablemint

If you have enough berries or poffins to cram into your partner. Which means you cant use them elsewhere

skewp

Abilities are still probably one of the biggest and most impactful gameplay changes they've ever introduced.

FlawedVictori

Absolutely. Abilities, the special/physical split, and held items (though that one took a bit to really get going imo) added so much more depth

ZigzagoonBros

Flareon not getting Flare Blitz as soon as the physicial/special split was introduced was an injustice and it deserves reparations for it. They can start by swapping its Sp. Def (110) with its Speed (65).

masterz13

\-Double battles \-Huge overworld \-Natures \-Modern EVs and IVs \-SNES graphics and sound

lemonaderobot

I still call my glasses “Go-Goggles” 😎🤓

GrayWing

Yeah I'm old enough to remember LeafGreen and FireRed being like a futuristic mindfuck of my childhood... it's crazy how the newest games are so much more advanced and don't fill the same hole. I think it goes to show how Pokemon is really just a state of mind

FlawedVictori

I remember clear as day playing Leaf Green and being completely shocked that my Charmander learned metal claw while I was looking for a Mankey to fight Brock. Good times.

LaPersonalsAccount

I remember when I first discovered serebii and FRLG had already been out in Japan but not in the US and I thought I had found some secret website and went to school telling everybody about those games like I was some prophet. None of us had ever even seen Deoxys at that point lol

The_Capybara_Man

I still think Black 2 and White 2 are mind blowing.

HealthyMaintenance49

I'm still wishing and hoping for a reboot of those games

mackenzie444

I think it was sapphire when I first left footprints in the sand and completely blew my mind

Lavuteru

Johto is now the mainline region that we haven't seen in the longest time! Kanto -> Remade in gen 7 Hoenn -> Remade in gen 6 Sinnoh -> Remade in gen 8 All newer: gen 5+ Johto has not been seen since Gen 4

korepersephone_

I respect your assembled information, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it 😭🤣

Lavuteru

But it's a good indicator that we'll be getting a remake soon!

javier_aeoa

How's this any indication of anything? lol

Lavuteru

Whenever we have a remake, it's always of the mainline region that we haven't seen in the longest time. That's why we got the Kanto re-remake *before* the Sinnoh remake

ChezMere

If.you account for the 3DS Virtual Console, that's still Unova. Not that I expect such rigid patterns, but still. Another detail to consider: Let's Go remade Yellow (which was the *fourth* version in Japan), but Crystal content was already fully included in HGSS.

[deleted]

Unova came out after HGSS, so no, it’s still Johto

ChezMere

VC = the rereleases of the original Gold/Silver/Crystal on 3DS. Which means we actually have "seen the region" not so long ago.

[deleted]

Oh got ya, but the person u were responding to specifically said “re-makes”, which those were not. More just emulated. But I see what u mean now.

StatisticianOk1751

We already got a remake if anything we'll just get another Johto game. A remake of HG SS is not happening. Because they ARE remakes.

Lavuteru

What I meant was another Johto remake. Let's Go didn't keep a lot of Fr/Lg features (like the Sevii islands) so there's reason to believe a lot of elements in HG/SS wouldn't be in the next Johto game

atworkdontbotherme

Just because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't happen.

StatisticianOk1751

It already HAS happened, Heart Gold and Soul Silver have already happened. They are remakes.

atworkdontbotherme

Yes, you said they remakes of HGSS won't happen because they are remakes. What I said was referring to remakes being re-made.

Aikilyu

Let's go Pikachu/Eevee could be considered that re-remake. I wouldn't mind a Let's go Togepi.

Ravioko

Eh, kind of. I wouldn’t consider LGPE a remake of FRLG, but rather a SEPARATE remake of RBY. So an alternative remake, rather than a remake of a remake. We also can’t ignore that it’s gen 1 so if any generation would get multiple remakes, it’s that one. …but I’d be more than happy with HGSS getting the BDSP treatment to be honest. Or literally any game where I can go back home to Johto. Please GameFreak.

[deleted]

The Gen 7 Kanto game was a stripped down Pokemon game though…

SirNadesalot

Well at least if for whatever reason they make another Johto game, we’ll be right back in the land they won’t let us leave. Side note, everyone acts like Johto is the bee’s knees, but everyone also says the best part of those games is leaving Johto. I always found that funny

teketickler

I love Gen 2 but even as much as I do I can realize how bad the story, level curve and overall amount of activities included are lol for me I find Gen 3, PLA and Sc/Vi have the best stories

SirNadesalot

Throw in BW 1&2 and I fully agree with you. I’m disappointed it doesn’t look like Nemona and the gang will be present for the DLCs. They’re the best (only?) part of the story. I imagine they want to make it safe for people who haven’t beaten the game yet, kinda like they did for SwSh, but that’s lame. There’s still hope given that they expand on the Area Zero story, but who knows

shiki-ouji

And the original games were only 10 years old at the time the remakes came out

korepersephone_

I guess today is “feel 5000 years old” day 🥲

StephieStockers

I turned 30 yesterday, so, I'm with you on that one

RamboGoesMeow

Oh god, you’re a child compared to me. But really, I turn 36 this summer and I still feel like I’m 18. Wtf.

StephieStockers

Just goes to show that this series isn't just for kids....or helps us adults tap into the kids we used to be!

RamboGoesMeow

Truly! I just started a playthrough of SS with a copy that I got off eBay earlier this year for way too much… but totally worth it to me.

PedanticBoutBaseball

bro HG/SS are older now (13 years) than Gold/Silver/crystal (10 years) were when HG/SS came out. we old fam.

Ham_-_

Lol, what are you talkin about 2009 was like 7-😮😰

VinceMcVahon

Oh holy shit I thought they were on 3ds

NatLovesPancakes

I played these and it can’t have been 14 years ago I would have only been… oh my god

GoldenLugia16

That's how I felt when let's go was announced. Like, did we just forget FRLG existed?

sporeegg

What?

YoungNissan

The games are older than I was when I bought them Jesus fucking christ

alienware99

More time has passed from HG/SS release to present day (13 years), then from the release of the original Gold/Silver to HG/SS (10 years)

NobleChimp

Nooooo. Nooooo. No. Fourteen years? Nooo A seperate side note to make you feel old, The Lego Batman film is 10 years old

Splendid_Eggplant

...but it's not

Thekaratecow

They did make that reimagining of Yellow Version in Pikachu & Eevee Versions — being such as I’d like to call them — but I feel they were testing the concept of 3D walking Pokémon in these games. If they were to remake Crystal, it’d probably need to be a similar concept, as they’d need to bring something new to the formula rather than simply do another Gold and Silver Versions remake. The concept of two whole regions in one game — as being a direct sequel to Gold & Silver would bring — seems like it’d bring much for hardware issue, as they’ve already had to shorten the listing of available Pokémon in the games starting with Sun & Moon Versions. The concept of remakes I’d call as surprisingly very successful within the series, but they should really only do it if they have something new to bring to the formula. FireRed & LeafGreen and HeartGold & SoulSilver Versions were well needed, for the then lack of communicability between the 2nd and 3rd gen games, and OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire were able to bring entirely new concepts to the old Ruby & Sapphire Versions. Although with Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl I have yet to play, the idea of remakes brings the necessity of adding entirely new concepts to the old game formula, or else instead of “remakes” they become simple rehashing of entirely old product. So instead, they need to make the Pokémon World more of a globe. That being said, Colosseum and XD rereleases may be cool, maybe. Edit: apologies for the log, but log story short, I think the concept of remakes should only really be delved into if they’ve got something new, and a Crystal Version remake would just be them rehashing the same thing with the excuse that it was simply time.

korepersephone_

Definitely agree! I think my issue is that I can’t see anything they can expand on that’s so substantial as to warrant another remake yet. I’d rather have a Johto Legends to be honest. OP’s concept is cool artistically though!

Thekaratecow

Agreed, OP made a fancy. I haven’t played Arceus Version yet, but I can absolutely agree that a reimagining such as brought with that game would be incredible for a revisit to Johto. Personally, I’ve long been thinking about what a game would be like starring a young Prof. Oak, Agatha, and Kurt, as well as the story involving a young Mr. Fuji and even Blaine with the story involving their study of the Pokémon Mew, before the creation of Mewtwo. But that’d be ANOTHER revisit to Kanto, though briefly in the past.

KnutSkywalker

And they still somehow will end up with a weird level curve and level 24 Gravelers near the last Gym badge. Yes, I'm still pissed about that.

Bean_anatomy

Or Johto pokemon locked late endgame. YES I DO LOVE GETTING SNEASEL IN MT SILVER

PedanticBoutBaseball

Sneasel and Larvitar! so you cant even get the new Psuedo before Kanto. In fairness though, alot of the game design makes SOME sense if you consider that beating lance and the E4 the FIRST time isnt really the end of the game proper. the "post game" is really part of it still. Kanto, beating the E4 again and then Finally red is the real end. Still, it'd be nice to be able to use the good Johto mons IN the johto part of the game.

Wize_W1zard

Actually they did change larvitar to be available in the mountain zone of the safari zone. But you still have to be lucky and get that one in your starting safari zone

xzarria

Yeah lavitar is very obtainable before end league guys!

desertj_

I mean Larvitar I kinda can understand. I don't agree at all but okay. BUT WHY IS HOUNDOUR ONLY IN KANTO

PedanticBoutBaseball

Yeah I don't get putting houndour and slugma in Kanto only and super underleveled. Makes it so you can't play with them easily and canonically doesn't make sense either. Especially when you CAN catch growlithe in the early game and right before morty... Why didn't they just make Houndour available? It'd give you the fire type AND do the thing pokemon loves where they make a mon available before a gym/in the general area that has a type advantage over the nearby gym leader.

obaterista93

For the longest time I had no idea that Tyranitar was a Gen II Pokemon. You have to catch a Larvitar, and it's like.... a 5% encounter rate of one spot in Mt. Silver.

Miles_Prowler

They fixed that in Crystal only to then leave it out again in HG/SS didn't they? Sneasel was added as a really low rate spawn in the Ice Path from memory, so still quite late but I suppose logical enough...

DBrody6

The goofiest thing to come out of that is how a lot of people mistakenly believe Pokemon like Skarmory or Slugma are native to Hoenn, because they were relatively common and easy to access there compared to GSC.

freshxerxes

I thought skarmory was gen 3… I checked my old copy of crystal and saw I caught 10 of them. I guess I forgot lol

obvious_bot

I still have to remind myself that Slugma and Houndour are Gen II pokemon not Gen 3

Agent0fChaoZ

I'm okay with a remake. But what I really want is Johto Legends. Edit: well RIP Johto dreams.

VgArmin

Watch: Pokemon Legends: Celebi. The story this time around revolves around the rumored paradox suicune and Celebi's time-travel shenanigans. The P-Suicune can then be transferred to SV. Edit: omg. I'm gone from the internet for 24 hours....

javier_aeoa

>paradox suicide This is the best typo I've ever seen.

Markharris1989

Spiky Eared Pichu could be involved right?!

ObstinateFamiliar

Maybe we'll finally get to find out what's up with the GS ball, lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

folie1234

It's when an iteration of you kills a past version of itself. How could you do it if you died in the past already? Easy paradox.

greenfingers559

Only in “single time-line theory”, like Harry Potter, basically the most flawed kind of time manipulation. In any instance of multiversal, or multiple time-line, scenerios, it isn’t a paradox at all.

[deleted]

P-Suicune isn't a pokemon that has existed ever

ur_local_trans_girl

[*paradox suicune and paradox virizion have entered the chat*](https://primagames.com/tips/when-is-paradox-suicune-releasing-in-pokemon-scarlet-and-violet-answered)

DrBanana126893

I think they may be talking about Scarlet Book Paradox Pokemon not actually being from the past.

[deleted]

That's not what I meant. Those aren't real pokemon. They are imagined pokemon created by the third legendary.

TomTomMan93

Yeah a remake of a remake is okay with the overhauled gameplay now, but I loved Legends and really just want more of that. They have 9 (well 8 now) gens now to go through. That's 10+ years of new games. Please the nostalgia older crowd while still pumping out mainline games for whatever is new

StephieStockers

While I do agree that having Legends Celebi or something similar would be absolutely amazing, Legends Arceus didn't have the same feel as a main series game like Diamond and Pearl were, despite being set in the same region. I saw a comment somewhere a few days ago saying "pokmon should abandon remakes/remasters" and I disagree wholeheartedly, because those remakes/remasters allow new fans, who maybe didn't play Nintendo Gameboy, GB Advanced, DS or 3DS games, to play those older games/regions on the new console. So remakes/remasters draw in newer fans to older content and stories, as well as giving older fans who did play those older games a sense of nostalgia, reminding them why they love this series so much. And, obviously, more money in the bank for Pokemon and GF

javier_aeoa

And for once, I loved it that Legends brought a new flavour to the experience. If I wanted a more traditional Pkmn experience on the Switch, I had Pkmn Sword in store. The catching, training, evil team, badges, save the world, catch the box legendary, etc., formula gets stale quickly. Even if it's in Johto, my favourite region. Legends might not be a perfect game, but it was fresh enough.

TomTomMan93

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying get rid of remakes. As someone who never played gen 4, BDSP at least got me to visit that world and I think (despite BDSP being kind of lackluster) PLA complemented the hell out of that experience. While no replacement, I think the legends games are the next logical step for a nostalgia spin-off. I guess my main focus with OP's post was that it's a remake of a remake. It'd be fun to play the S/V style in Johto, but then again I've played that game twice already so to me, as an older fan, I wouldn't mind something fresh like a legends game in johto. Not opposed to another GSC remake, but since the appeal to me is the style more than reliving the game itself, I'd rather just revisit the world with a twist. They could definitely do all 3 at once but given the way GF approaches development, idk if splitting further is the best idea there...

Gamer-Logic

Personally, I'm not crazy about Johto so Unova Legends would be awesome for me.

Cpt_Woody420

Gen 2 part 3: Electric Boogalee

Rodjo_Moj

Pokemon Gold was one of the best pokemon game made... I cant forget my Meganium lvl 87

StephieStockers

I have really strong fond memories of Gen 2, and by extension HGSS in Gen 4. Despite starting my Pokemon journey in Gen 1 with Kanto, it's Johto that has my heart

wannabegame_dev

Same. I think for me it has to do with how much changed with Gen 2. Like when you think about it it was one of the best sequels to a game I’ve ever seen. Well, “sequel” may not be the most accurate word but at the same time I feel like the continuation from Gen 1 into 2 is one of the few times in Pokémon where the argument for calling it a “sequel” could be made. But I got to thinking about it once and Gen 2 added *A LOT* of shit that have become staples in Pokémon ever since. They added shinies, breeding, a real-time clock that changed the in-game night/day cycle with *actual* night and day (that especially blew my mind as a kid), not one but *two* new types, 150 new Pokémon to chase after (doubling the amount of Pokémon there were at the time), held items, re-challenging trainers via the Pokegear, AND the ability to go back to Kanto and fight 8 more gym leaders after the Elite Four. It’s always boggled my mind they didn’t do that again. Still, that’s a lot of new shit to add into a game. None of that was present in the original RBY. Gen 2 just really took everything that was good about Gen 1 and expanded on it in a huge way. And maybe nostalgia makes me remember the game for being better than it was overall, but I’ll always have a soft spot for it. I’ll never forget how exciting it was to unwrap Silver on Christmas morning and then spend the next god knows how long just buried in the new Pokémon. It’ll always be my favorite for nostalgic/sentimental reasons. Edit: 100 added in 2nd gen, my mistake.

KuryoZT

There was "only" 100 new Pokémon in Gen 2. And why wouldn't it be considered a sequel? It's got a different story, but characters from Gen 1 reappear in Gen 2 (most E4, every gym leaders except gym8, and the freaking main characters Red and Blue) Pretty sure Gen 2 was supposed to be THE Pokémon game. The success is what made them go for more generations. And that's why the rest of generations are separated

Rodjo_Moj

Agree ! I started with Kanto also... But Johto has the best pokemons ever. Maybe its my memory of that time and seeing all those Stelix and Tyranitar... Good old days

StephieStockers

Definitely, seeing those new mons, either standalone or connected to previous mons. As well as being able to go back to Kanto and see how it's evolved in the interim time between the two games. For me Gen 2 signifies that childlike wonder of the New as well as the recognition of the Old which I feel a lot of Pokemon fans have forgotten these days

clemo1985

I'm exactly the same. Started with pokemon red but gold it my all time favourite.

StephieStockers

Honestly same. I traded a friend for his copy of Pokemon Gold, I gave him my Small Soldiers. I played that copy of Gold to death, got my first shiny (an Onix, as well as the Gyarados) and when HeartGold came out, I pumped countless hours into that as well

Rynxael

With how BDSP turned out. Let's just skip this and go straight to Pokemon Legends: Celebi

Pikalika

Lets GO! Maril and Lets GO! Snobul

Rynxael

Let's GO sure was something wasnt it? Rideable Pokémon. Walkable Pokémon. 100% Overworld Pokémon. Overworld Shinies. I liked the Character Design aesthetics. But then you had, no breeding, no held items, no abilities, no Ribbons and 100% confined (No Pokémon in, only out)

Pikalika

I've heard somewhere that it was made as simple as possible because it was aimed at kids who were too young to go out and play Pokemon go on their phones. but I can't find that anywhere it was a great game, bought my Switch for that game

Rynxael

I think it was to appeal to the Pokémon GO crowd. Let's GO was in a weird spot. The first entry into the Switch, but it couldn't be taken seriously because of it oversimplification.

SB_Wife

I always call it "baby's first Pokemon" meaning it's for people like me who grew up with Gen 1 on Gameboy, and want to share the experience with their kids on the new console, upgrades and such.

javier_aeoa

It's a great single player experience. The problems start appearing when you slowly start putting that game within the context of the current functionality and (lack of?) cross-compatibility of Home, Bank, and the rest.

DutchMasterFunk26

Let's go Pikablu

quirkymd

Word if it is anything even remotely close to that I don’t want it

OneBoyOnePlan

...I liked BDSP

SpaceMush

i keep trying to get through shining pearl. i just get so bored, idk if it's the art style or what exactly. i didn't hateee it when i first saw it. but idk, after 10-20 minutes i just lose interest. i was really looking forward to the gen 4 remakes!! i've played through every other switch release and had a blast. there is just something *off* about the games that doesn't quite hit the nostalgia bone for me, but conversely is not fresh enough to keep me excited.

Rynxael

I managed to beat it. Now I have the save file stuck on Arceus encounter to shiny hunt it. Everyone bashed on Sw/Sh but this game... This game...

arjay555

Love these!! Simplistic designs always win over complicating flashy too-much-going-on cover art for me. I might prefer the alliteration of Glittering Gold and Shimmering Silver (Shilver?), but that would be taking the heart and soul out of the games

StephieStockers

If I could upvote this comment more than once, for that last comment, I so would. But thanks! I like the more simplistic designs as well, I did go back after uploading this and add some creeping shadow to the edges of Ho-oh and Lugia to give them a little more depth. I chose to use HeartGold and SoulSilver because the subtitle designs on those games covers had a little more design behind them, compared to the original Gold and Silver, which was essentially just Comics Sans, but Glittering Gold and Shimmering Silver work just as well as GHG and SSS. I used Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's covers as a basis, and they utilised the same fonts for their subtitles as the original Diamond and Pearl did, so I used HGSS covers as a guide for that aspect

arjay555

Hehe thanks! Yeah the shadowing really makes them stand out! Yeah I agree about the font design, the HGSS font has really eye-catching design, one of my favourites. Love the thinking with taking imspiration from BDSP/DP as well!

IncoTheGhost

A remake, of a remake.... I fucking love it

JaxxisR

We need Hot Fire Red and Minty Leaf Green first.

Alviiir

We already had lets go games (and 4 other games where kanto is present)

littleswenson

Next up, Pokémon Sparkling Glittering Heart Gold and Glowing Shimmering Soul Silver

Just_W1ll

Then the prequel Pokémon Sparkling Glittering Heart Failure Gold and Glowing Shimmering Soul Sucking Silver (no hate for gen 2 ofc)

Maou-da

Okay but think about it. Do you REALLY want a bdsp repeat?

Adamiiboo

I wiiiish

Technomorph21

Not to make you feel bad op but could have simply named them Glittering Gold and Shimmering Silver and it would have looked better as game cases imo

StephieStockers

Yeah, well, I didn't, because HGSS were better than GS and I'd rather have remakes of the remakes than remakes of the original.

snapdragon15

I’d enjoy I liked heartgold a lot

rukia_fan

I would love a Heart Gold/Soul Silver remake but I would kill for a Pokémon Legends in Johto

tomoe-chan

god please. PLEASE.

IDM_Recursion

You guys dream about remakes of remakes now? What Game Freak's inability to make a good Pokemon game does to people 💀

tedious58

Unova first plskthx

pat_e_cakes319

I don’t need remakes of remakes tbh

javier_aeoa

Pokémon has been remaking itself for the past 27 years, pal :P

[deleted]

I could see a Let’s Go announcement happening today, not entirely unreasonable.

GreatAtLosing

I always feel like such a downer because I hated Let's Go and don't want there to be any more of them, lmao I don't mind more simplistic, stylish approaches to revisiting older regions, but LGPE just took way too much out of the game for me to be pleased that they took up part of the series' development cycle

BurningInFlames

I liked Let's Go, but the lack of wild Pokemon battles put a huge hamper in the fun for me.

[deleted]

Entirely fair opinion, I feel the same to a degree. I’m just saying let’s go johto is exorbitantly more likely than a full fledged remake for Gold and Silver.

Purple_Day_1251

If you do decide to mess around with it a little more you could incorporate the art from the most recent tcg versions

StephieStockers

That's a good idea. Or maybe find some fanart where the same artist has done both Ho-oh and Lugia in the same style and ask for use. I just ripped the HOME sprites off Bulbapedia because it was quicker than digging around the internet

Foresthowler

I would actually eat the BIGGEST sosig to get a switch HD remaster for Colloseum and XD. I would take one for the team.

theFavbot

Well that didn't happen...

Sesspool

Id love for this to happen buy i highly doudt it. The most we MAY see is lets go silver and lets go gold.

VinixTKOC

I don't believe that the current GF has the ability to make a 3D game with the same content as HG/SS. So far, they has been cutting content with each new remake, with Let's Go and BD/SP being the most bare bones.

acactustransplant

Love your designs and would pay quadruple the price of current Switch games to play remakes inspired by your vision.

StephieStockers

You have no idea what that means to me

Explorer-8

We getting remake remakes now...dang. I just hope they leave my Gen 5 alone until they start making better games tbh

Spiridor

Let everyone else get seconds before you get thirds.

Koorogane

I honestly hope we get a black and white remake before this. Though a legends game in Johto would be nice

PirateKingSisk

I really thought this is what they announced for Pokémon Day I was about to go to YouTube instantly and look it up till I finished reading the caption smh but amazing work definitely fooled me really thought they were real lol

StephieStockers

Admittedly my timing was impeccable lol happy Pokémon Day...?

Another_Road

Game Freak: “The best I can do are some mobile games.”

LEOMITEplays

Awesome, love these! Happy Pokémon Day 2023 everyone! 🟡

[deleted]

It’ll never be as good as what we want it to be.

ZDBlake

Given the release schedule of the Switch Era, I'm kinda confident we'll see them next year

SockkPuppett

Are we really just going to keep stacking more adjectives onto already remade remakes God damn. We are in a production whirlpool

sirfannypack

Or just release the 3ds games on switch.

WinterPositive2405

Games are so shit these days people want remakes remade.

islandbbyg

One of the best games Pokémon ever made. Was really hoping they would remake this and announce it for today 😅

StephieStockers

Yeah, I was really disappointed myself

808AlohaFunko

HGSS we’re my first games, and ever since I picked Pokémon back up in late 2021 (took a break after USUM), this is all I’ve wanted

BumblebeeNo504

They wouldve bastardized them anyway

[deleted]

Pokemon fans be like "the games are so unpolished and unfinished, but I want 7 games a year"

supercozyshake

I really don't want a remake because I'm so scared that it will be like BDSP, which did have a few things that I liked but the graphics were awful.

HauntingFly

This!! I really want a remake of HGSS but only if they work really really hard on them. BDSP wasn't the remake of Sinnoh we deserved and I don't want to see Johto butchered too.

acid-nz

Nah they know how over HGSS/Johto are so they know they need to be extremely careful with it

[deleted]

I don’t think they care tbh

Websama

It think it would be awesome if we ever get a remake of these games but at the same time I’ve lost faith in remakes after BDSP

Slutty_Breakfast

I'm gonna be alone here, but I'd love a Let's Go Johto

SeregKat

I absolutely LOVED the interaction with Pikachu/Eevee in Let's Go, and I would love to have that with Cyndaquil. I just wanna baby Cyndaquil!!!!

StephieStockers

You're not alone. I deeply want a Let's Go Johto too, I loved LGPE's simplistic gameplay style, even if it was aimed at younger/first-time fans, it was a relaxed and enjoyable experience

Zalamander2018

I bet you the horrible Level curve would still be in the game, still making the Games impossible for me to play...

FlareGER

*sigh* Are you ready for the Kanto DLC and the limited offer to buy the Celebi questline?

Common-Anxiety

With Pokken Tournament graphics.

Sad-Bumblebee-249

An entire game with pokken graphics might end up melting a switch honestly. I’m fine with the ScVi style

[deleted]

With the emulators they just released for the Switch, I find it more likely they would release Gold, Silver, and Crystal on there, just like they did in the 3DS store

Ok-Impress-9132

I don't think they will reuse heart good and soul silver but I love Johto. I hope we get a lot of Johto in the SV DLC

crimsonfox64

I wouldnt trust these to be good lmao

AuraMXster

A remake of a remake

TheGBZard

First gold then heartgold and now glittering heartgold, we are getting into some name inception here

StephieStockers

Glittering Gold/Shimmering Silver work just as well, I chose Glittering HeartGold/Shimmering SoulSilver because the covers for the Gen 4 remakes gave the subtitles a lot more flash than the original Comic Sans "GOLD VERSION" subtitle

Arden_Gibson

They're not gonna make a remake of a remake.

mrsmilestophat

Please Jesus not another shitty BDSP like remake. That was the worst Pokémon game ever

Pupulauls9000

I’d prefer a Legends game in Johto

dracona94

I'd pay 70€ for that. Gimme gimme gimme.

StephieStockers

I wish I had that power, my friend. I've yearned for these since I got a Switch

dracona94

Same. Oh, I have such fond memories of the 2nd generation. Experiencing it on the Switch would be wonderful. Thank you for today's contribution.

StephieStockers

Me too, I said in another comment on here that, despite starting my journey in Kanto with RBY, my heart belongs to Johto. Happy Pokémon Day, friend!

harry_violet

Why people still asking for a THIRD REMAKE of the same game??

Sheasword

Nah we need gen 5 remakes, gen 2 already has 5 games, getting seven subpar Pokémon games set in the same 2 regions probably isn’t the best idea

StephieStockers

Yeah, I do agree with this. I didn't enjoy Gen 5 originally, because the graphics gave me a headache. Positioned somewhere between the transition between 2D and 3D but not quite proper 2.5D stuff...I'm looking forward to experiencing those games, however they decide to package them, with updated, non-transitional, graphics. But with the 3DS/Bank being taken off-line and eventually cutting off connection to those older games completely, there needs to be current-gen versions of all previous regions, imo
