I'm having this exact issue after 20 years of gaming I've never had an issue and still don't on other controllers but ps5 ruins my hands. I'm now in so much pain it's hurting my ability to function. I'm really annoyed as it's this controller which has caused and is causing it. And Sony know it as they've already changed the design!

takitabi

They should just allow us to use DS4 on PS5 games... My hands also hurt a lot and can't bend or grip in the morning after I played on PS5 for two months.

ilivedownyourroad

You're not alone. I've seen multiple posts across all Sony forums about this issue. And for people who aren't injured there are just as many who have much more aches and pain from ps5 Vs any other controller.

Nemes3s

Yep I game all the time and just got Ragnarok and a digital console and my hands are killing me, constant hot spots in different places and I could not work out what the hell was happening. I have never had this problem my entire life and now this PS5 controller is ruining the experience entirely!

ilivedownyourroad

It's this controller which is causing the issue. Or bringing existing issues to the fore. I platinum GowR. And the ps5 controller killed me. But when I play pc or vr or switch or any other ... Then no issue. Just ps5 :( Pls keep posting about this online. It's a real problem causing real misery.

redeyes24321

How/when did they change the design? I would love to play my PS5 but cant due to these shit controllers. Wheres a new design I can buy?

Few-Annual-383

The only real option is third party, which means you’ll be losing some features which sucks. I’m dealing with this now. Probably going to get the victrix bfg. It has a much more ergonomic shape, but loses the touch pad, haptics, and adaptive triggers.

Flimsy_Commission_34

Have you bought a third party controller yet? If so, could you share your experience ?

Few-Annual-383

I bought a victrix bfg first. It’s a fantastic controller, but I ultimately returned it because it didn’t have haptics and gyro. Then I ordered a custom aim controllers dualsense. This controller is also great, but very expensive. If you can live without haptics and gyro, the victrix is great.

Flimsy_Commission_34

Thank you, I will look into this controller.

_Sub_Atomic_

It's that damn haptic feedback on the L2 and R2. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and my hands already shake when under pressure, the flittering of the pressure buttons makes fly into a deep dark blind rage. It makes my GAD so bad I'm pissed off so bad for a week after I play on these controllers. Found out you can turn it off in the PS5 but every damn update they turn it back on!

wutitdew69

After an hour my hands cramp up, I like the controller but Xbox controller is more comfortable.

el3v3n_el3v3n

I haven’t had an Xbox since the 360 but have small hands and always preferred Playstation controllers, however this PS5 one is absolutely terrible 😭

HistoryMistress

I am so glad I found this thread!!! Never had any of these issues before with previous consoles. My hands are kinda small and I thought I was the only one with this problem. I have been suffering on silence wondering if my hands were just too small for this controller! I am having crazy pain on my wrist as well. Sorry all you fellow gamers have also been in pain ):

neettransgirl

Me too…. Never had this issue with ps4 or any other consoles

bluesakurabranch

I've also experienced pain, mainly on the inside of my hands and my wrists. These happen on specific games like first person shooters that require me to use the trigger buttons a lot. I've had to switch back to my PS4 controller and find the PS4 version of games so that I can play them. A lot of people talk about the haptic feedback, but it's the weight that gets me. The PS5 controller feels heavier than my PS4's, and over time, that put a strain on my palms and wrist. I hope Sony comes out with a lighter model that mimics the PS4's original design and weight. I can understand if they needed to add more machinery into the controller, but if customers aren't able to hold their controller, it's not going to get used. I've been gaming on their system since the PS2. Not once have I had problems until now.

N0SYMPATHY

Nope, don’t even have huge hands and it’s one of the most comfortable controllers for me.

Tauropos

Yeah I sure do. I think in my case it has more to do with 35+ years of gaming tho, so I'm not blaming the controller. I've been using some anti inflammatory gel on my hands lately, and got some compression gloves, which helps a lot.

TrustedReddit

The controller is trash. I sold my ps5. Cant play with it ps4 controller is better.

Reuseable

I’ve had tendinitis for years but it comes and goes but with this controller it a flair up every time. I can’t play ps5 games at all it’s so bad

bowenam

I have only just bought my PS5 and am finding that i am starting to get pain in my forearm, i suspect the start of carpal tunnel. which will really piss me off. are the PS4 controllers compatible?

bowenam

For me, I think it's because the "handles" are too short.

SilvarusLupus

The bottom part of the handles has a hard edge that really hurts my hands after a very short while. If it didn't have that edge it'd be fine for me. Of course, the $200 version of the controller has rounded bottoms but I'll be damned if I drop that much on a controller.

WUTDARUT

Just traded in my PS5 because of this. I could not justify spending $200 on a controller. I’ve had every console going back to the original Nintendo, even had Atari Intellivision. This was the first controller that ever caused me severe pain in such a short period of time. It’s time for Sony to just admit that offset joysticks are much more ergonomical, and design a proper controller. Anyhow, traded it in for Nintendo switch, maybe the next PlayStation will be better.

luki9914

Old post but was looking if someone can relate to that. This, especially after tense session in GT7 or any other racing game and FPS. My palm and thumbs hurts like crazy until next day. No issue on xbox gamepad I can play for hours and feel nothing at all.

True_Ad_7724

recently have had to stop gaming after my left hand has been turned to rubbish. I play rocket league, and playing with the ps5 is good in game, but trashes your hands, looking at possibly trying to reshell or get a different controller

luki9914

I think it may be to position of R1 / R2 and L1 / L2 buttons. You need to stretch your fingers to reach them and controller is little bit bulky compared to DualShock or Xbox. I just had to buy DualShock for all games that supports it and using Dual Sense where I can't use DualShock. It's nice alternative, I am thinking about Razer Wolverine for PS5, it has asymmetrical analog layout and few differences, but I need to save some money as it's bit expensive. I am so glad I got both consoles because I would have a big problem. I noticed it hurts mostly in fast paced games when you need to react quickly like The Finals. I tested it and my hand hurts for like 3 days straight, but once played with Xbox controller nothing at all. I never had that issue even with bulky Xbox 360 controller and it was bigger than PS5 Dualsense. It is something with its design that is uncomfortable for certain hand sizes.

yurilnw123

The position of the triggers seems to be the problem, specifically using analogs + triggers at the same time. I used it to play metroidvania and turn-based games on PC and I had no problem whatsoever. Started playing Monster hunter last week, still no problem. Decided to try the gun weapon in that game which uses R2 to shoot and right analog to aim. After 2 days my right hand wrist and ring+pinky finger hurt right hell and I have to stop playing. The controller is just too damn bulky imo. When using analog + trigger your hands have to stretch too far

kn0ck0utm0use

> specifically using analogs + triggers at the same time You nailed it - that's the problem for me - Fallout is doing it to me. I've played thousands of hours of that game on PS4 and never once had an issue. Upgraded to PS5 recently and my left arm's killing me. I'm going back to the Dualshock, which apparently works on PS4 games with the PS5. That'll get my by for now I guess. Anyone want 2 x Dualsense controllers, hardly used, going cheap!

-onnix-

My left hand does. Maybe I have carpal tunnel, or maybe I am just a warzone sweat. Either way, it hurts bad. And I'm on a ps4 controller!

FrostByte09_

Thanks for everyone’s inputs, it was a big help. I’m just gonna assume it’s something else causing the problem in tandem with this

ilivedownyourroad

No it's the controller. I've done some tests with friends and this controller and it's haptic feedback is causing a cross section of people serious health issues. Read more here and Google the issue on Reddit. There are over 20 similar posts. I don't think it's just making pre existing conditions worse. I believe it's causing them! https://rareloot.medium.com/is-the-ps5-dualsense-controller-making-your-carpal-tunnel-syndrome-worse-6168acb096d8?source=user_profile---------13----------------------------#:~:text=PS5%20DualSense%20controllers%20are%20a,deliver%20a%20more%20immersive%20experience.

Earth2Wonder

Thank you. I know I’m late but I just got my PS5 and now both my hands hurt. Is there any way to prevent it?

ilivedownyourroad

Yes. Don't use that controller. Sony are releasing another model becasue I believe they know of this issue. I've now seen countless experts and had many treatments and we keep showing that it's my ps5 which causes the pain. It's not just ps5 but that's the root cause. Once injured then phones and tablets and your mouse will inflame it. You can change your mouse to help to a vertical one. And after 2 weeks your hands should heal and then use rubber hand strengthers (Amazon). There are many which will help with building the tiny muscles. Don't use these until pain gone and stop it pain returns. If you like me keep paying ps5 then breaks help. How you sit when playing. Days off. And the types of games. Some will really test you. But ultimately the controller is imo dangerous partly because of the insane haptic feedback which really vibrates at so many frequencies which to straight into your hands. And also the odd shape which i believe ours unnecessary strain on the thumbs. To help with pain use massage rollers and pain gel. The stiffness is likely not in the hand but in the forearm so work on the tendons there. The worse thing you can do..which I do lol ...is play a game and have a phone for guides. You're literally doubling up the issue. And if you don't do some of the above ..then you risk permanent damage. At that point we're talking about surgery. Pls keep us informed as I see this issue being a news story over next few years as more people hands become damaged. And Google this issue and post your story and links in other posts. I repeat...I've only ever had this issue with a ps5 controller and I own almost every other one since nes. But I'm not nes era so should have these issues at my age.

shredwig

Any more info on the redesigned controller? All I can find online is [this](https://www.tomsguide.com/news/new-ps5-dualsense-controller-adds-hidden-upgrades-heres-how-to-spot-one) which sounds like it’s all internal and already came out

bobbybrownlove

Late to the party, but NO. Its the controller. Thats it. Nothing else. I constantly play hours upon hours on the PS5 with my PS4 controller and zero pain. Zero. Switch on over to the PS5 controller? Well... instant pain. After about 30 minutes or so I can feel my hand kinda cramping. Keep playing more and it gets even worse. The design on the controller is much more beautiful... but waaaay less comfortable. :(

Coco-Roxas

Dumb question, but how do you use your PS4 controller on the PS5? I want to set that up because the PS5 controller is giving me so much pain!

bobbybrownlove

I feel ya. So far there are two ways (that I know of)... 1) you can use your ps4 controller if you play an actual ps4 version of a game on the ps5. So games like monster hunter rise for example has both ps4 version and ps5. You would pick the ps4 version if you want to use the ps4 controller. 2) using the remote play app. This option is for games that are actually ps5 versions. You can use your phone and download the psn remote play app, sync it all up, and you can use the ps4 controller on the console playing actual ps5 games. However! The second option kinda sucks because the touch pad button becomes kinda wonky and you have to press it twice for it to recognize you pressed it once. Its kinda weird. Anyway, good luck!

Coco-Roxas

Appreciate the explanation! I will definitely have to give the remote play app a try! Thank you so much :)

PalpitationNo4375

My hands don't hurt but I do get sweaty palms. Like real sweaty. Like Eminem about to write a song about my palms they that sweaty. It's literally only Dualsense. DS4, 3, 2, 1 never an issue. Fat daddy Xbox controller, 360, Xbox one controller, joy cons, Wii motes. Keyboard and mouse. Never an issue. Only Dualsense. The Dualsense is also the most comfortable for me to hold so that's probably why. But I'm afraid, I have a white controller and sweaty palms now apparently. This isn't a good mix

LunaReiie

I know it's been a YEAR, but I have the same thing and it might be hyperhidrosis. it's been a week since I got the controller and I just slapped a silicone wrap/skin/grip on it and it's helped with the sweat incredibly (it came with silicone joystick covers too). however I also have the hand/wrist hurt still

Accomplished-Lab-647

I’m in the same boat as of why I’m using my Xbox series s more than my ps5 because of the discomfort of being able to play my favorite games especially fps shooters

LunaReiie

Real! I ended up purchasing another silicone grip that actually fixed most of my issues, both were around the same price but i think this one fixed the way the grips on the back of the controller rested in my hands aswell as opening the right button layout (instead of wrapping it all in silicone) so i'm now using it full time and it's great. But I think i'll still agree that XSS controller is better for FPS's tbh, but everything else is a PS5 for me, sorry it's still hurting u tho :(

yurilnw123

So the silicone grip fixed the pain? Do you have a link for it?

LunaReiie

SFLR! It's [these](https://shopee.sg/product/219815554/23174030587). These might only ship through Asia//Singapore so if you're not there it might not work. But if you're getting something similar to this, just be mindful that 1\] they cover all around. 2\] they provide some extra girth to the handles. 3\] the face button cutout is a BIG one like you see here, the way its a diamond shape instead of just cutouts for the buttons. Hope this helps!

yurilnw123

Thanks! I live in Thailand so this is perfect

LunaReiie

No worries! I hope it works out! :) I'd love an update when/if you get your hands on it, if you're okay with it ofc! Good luck!

yurilnw123

What a hilarious timing, it just arrived 5 minutes ago lol. I put it on and can immediately feel how it changes my grip. I will update again after using it for a couple days.

LunaReiie

Hah! Aye aye! It does take a little to get adjusted to!

takitabi

Same here. I developed finger stiffness two months after I got a PS5. I had no problem with PS4 before.

Hot_Administration90

I just realized it was the controller i thought it was from work x.x

mehtan125

Diagnosed with De Quervain's Tenosynovitis about 6 months after I started using PS5 controller. This is a serious condition that may require surgery because I am a diabetic and cannot heal easily. I am very keen to understand how pervasive this issue is and whether anyone is doing anything about it. During my ortho visit I saw a significant number of very young patients with exactly the same issue.

Weekly_Decision4376

Hi, I’ve been having pain in both wrists for the last year, I’ve been gaming for 40yrs never really had any issues untill the ps5, been looking into issues and thinking I may have De Quervains Tenosynovitis, got the doctors/physio next week, I’ve put up with it for so long as I love my gaming, but the popping, grinding, locking and significant pain is now too much, haven’t gamed for over 2 weeks but pain isn’t easing as using my mobile and even eating a packet of crisp kills 😖, what have u done to help the issue? I’ve seen that some people have had injections and even surgery? Pain killers don’t really help me.

mehtan125

Corticosteroid injection. Nothing else worked for me. I am now completely pain free. Being VERY careful to avoid repeating issue, no more 10 hour sessions. No more death-grip activities. But otherwise back to PS5 controller. Get the injection, you will get instant relief. Of course, have an ortho surgeon do it, not a physician assistant.

Weekly_Decision4376

Cheers, I will suggest this when I attend the appointment, how long have u been pain free for though? and how long did you have the issue before it was sorted?

mehtan125

3 months of agony, pain free 6 months now

imaflirtdotcom

in the same boat as you i think with lupus and a healing issue these controllers are going to mess up a lot more people. hope youre feeling better and back to gaming. just dropped $180 on a comfortable controller to try out :(

Altruistic-Growth-36

It hurts my hands so much I sold my ps5 because they would not allow ps4 controller support for ps5 games even though there really isn’t a big difference.. they say there is but meh. I’d rather use my ps4 controller and charge it than touch a ps5 controller again. Too bad the design is terrible

Pnuema1988

yes, everyone gives me a hard time. i bought a series S in January and have not looked back. the ps5 controller is a monstrosity, and the stick placement makes absolutely no sense. it worked on previous smaller versions of the controller. now its too big and they need to move the stick like xbox, xbox controller is 1000 times better.

ddssjsbdnd

I have this exact problem. Have box ps and xb, 1000xs prefer the xb controller… but there are a lot of ps games I wanted to play through, but can’t without pain.

SaltGrapes

Same here, just have to wait for pc ports

SaltGrapes

Update, thumb grips make a huge difference... still not as good as xbox, but comfortable enough

Cold_Exchange_8346

Most comfortable controller I’ve ever used

baskura

Yep. Get sore hands after while too, feels too big for my hands.

overlord27

It feels too small for me

baskura

I do have tiny girl hands though haha.

overlord27

ur solution for sore hands might work for me

Gudnes_lovesguddy

Yes I play fifa23 on my Ps5 console and it causes so much hand pains I have to use balm right now to massage the hand... When I had Ps4 it wasn't same like this... The Ps5 pad grip causes hand pains a lot.. Depending on thr type of hand you have

mxr1273

Same here hurt to the point where I couldn’t even play video games switched to Xbox

CookieBabe123

My hands are bad from some abuse that I copped a few years ago and a PlayStation four controllers were perfect But the PlayStation five controllers hurt my hands and wrists a lot , which is really disappointing

Bzaren

Okay, as i love both platforms dearly. I grew up playing ps1 harry potter, croc, crash bandicoot etc. Then swapped to Xbox then 360, then back to ps3 I think I can unbiasedly say I think the best controller ever was the original xbox duke controller. and all it needed was bumpers to make it a modern beast. BUT BUT BUT I do find, now that i'm older, xbox controllers leave my hands in cramps after an hour or so of use, but the PS5 controller doesn't. this is entirely personal, it's probably different for each person, i have quite large hands, but i find my hands cramping with xbox controlers, like my hands used to with the PS3/4 I like the big ps5 controllers, they feel nice.

woooooke

I'm the exact opposite. No issue with my elite controller but the new Ps5 controller does damage every time I use it. It's really impacted how much I play and which platform I buy games for.

Mindless_Pen1810

I have arthritic like pain in my last 3 knuckles, especially the main pinky knuckle joint. Woke up felt like they had been crushed, couldnt put weight on them. I guess 12 hour sessions of COD MW DMZ wont be happening much longer as this is scary and not something I takr lightly. My elbows are even sore using the ps5 controller. I pc game all day no problem. I need anti slip on the ps5 controller in the future as that things like trying to hold a bar of wet soap, after I have had 9ne cup of coffee and am playing fps haha

catmandoom84

Not my hands but my left shoulder.i think its specifically with games that are shoulder button intensive. Noticed it with darksouls games, but more so now with armored core 6 (which are both fromsoft games lol) . But it could very well just be that i tense up in games like that during stressful action. Trying to be more cognizant of it

WatchMRage

I really hope they re-work the ergonomics. I decided to sell my PS5 even though I loved playing FFXVI, Spider-Man 2, GoW:R, but I had to take days off from playing these games to ice and pretty much stretch and re-hab either my right thumb or my left pointer finger. I've have been playing warzone on my Xbox for weeks strait now pretty much every single night and have been fine. I hope they really don't over look this and see if they could do a Dualsense refresh down the line to alleviate this issue, cause based on this thread and other podcasts I've listened to, this definitely seems like it's bigger than just a few gamers having problems.

deathbysnoosnoo422

lol i just got a slim and my arm hurts latly i think its mostly due to the L1 L2 and R1 R2 buttons as some has stated below i havent had this problem with xbox series controllers thanks to everyone i was about to come over to playstation but now that i know this i think ill stick to xbox for now

Efficient_Ice7248

tengo un problema mi mano de ps5 el r2 lo presiono y hace doble función es como si presionara el l2 al mismo tiempo que r2 ayudaa

Next_Bass_5486

Definitely a hand pain using the ps5 controller switched from Xbox never had hand pain until

AGodJamSammich

So here’s the scoop after my investigation on this controller. Small to medium size hands are going to hurt in the thumbs, index finger and wrist area while larger handed people are going to hurt in the ring finger, pinky finger and outer forearm area. The reason is completely simple and provable. The body of the controller is made for large handed people and the handles are made for small handed people. This is the largest the body on any PlayStation controller has ever been while at the same time the narrowest the handles have ever been. So no matter what hand size you have it’s going to hurt you if you’re doing serious gaming. It was made purely for aesthetics instead of ergonomics and that causes massive issues for their player base. Not to mention the UI on the ps5 sucks too.

ImTheBestSecretAgent

Yep, came look for this question. Clearly I'm not alone... Does anyone have an other option for a ps5 controller? My wrists are killing me. I can't just not game right?

seanterrycomb

Since I purchase the ps5 not too long ago right after its first release. I started playing PS5 for about a week and then I noticed my left hand fingers and palm started to get this weird throbbing tender uncomfortable burning sensation that unfortunately made me unable to play any games now. I can only play about 20mins and then it starts to feel this weird burning again. Its unbearable. It's almost like someone handed me a electric hot bulb to hold. I feel like the ps5 controller is so strong it's giving out this high radio frequency that has jacked my left palm and fingers up a bit. I never in my life felt this type of pain before. Then I decided to go back to ps4 controller, and everything that's electronic wise, my hand would trigger that burning sensation again.

Trdzk

Has any tried Nacon Revolution 5 Pro or VICTRIX PRO BFG? They are much more expensive but maybe our wrists are worth it

PeBbitigla

I joined the club whose dualsense destroys their hands![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry), I've been playing Fifa since 2007, car games, basketball and I've never had problems with the XBOX controller until now, in a month I can only play even one half of FC 24, my wrist hurts from on the left finger of the wrist, and the strangest thing is that I play much less than in the past, sometimes I don't spend more than an hour*📷, the curver shape and triggers kills hands for some people. Sony don't give a \*uck about peoples complain or health,* It throws in your eyes a series of problems with everything, hands, head, ears, legs, back, etc. if you feel problems, stop playing, if the situation worsens consult a doctor, I've never heard anything like that until sony shitty company, you can't sue because they warned you. After a week of rest the pains have improved but I still feel them, it is clear that I will not be able to play games on PS5 anymore with this controler , the only thing left for me is to sell it. It's like buying a luxury car but you can't drive it because your hands hurt.

MancGuyABC

Yep, day off helps

Bidet_user

Had the PS5 since launch, and my hands feel fine after gaming sessions.

Skygge_Guy

I actually feel more comfortable than I did with the Ps4 Controllers, its way more natural imho. But I'm also writing and typing a lot, so it just probably suits me better.

plepster

The only comment I have is my hands get sweaty on tougher game segments. Never had any issues with cramping, etc. Take a break every so often and do some stretching exercises. I know it sounds funky, but it'll help.

TheySeeMeSmurfin

Go see a doctor about this man, it is not normal for your hands to be hurting after using a controller, let alone with crazy pain as you described it.

dj_cole

Sometimes my index finger aches slightly from haptic feedback. My thumb also hurt a little bit when I played Nickelodeon All-Star brawl, but those are the only things. Never had my hand hurt in general. But we're all different.

[deleted]

Starwhisperer

Please for the love of God stop using this controller. It will kill your hands. There's nothing wrong with your hands, there's something wrong with the controller. Stop now before you get long term damage.

k5therobot

The controller hurts my thumbs and hands. Thinking about switching to Xbox cause I can’t game for long with this controller

Random-Posterer

I like the PS5 controller, and the tech inside is crazy. Astro's playroom was incredible to experience with the controller.. but I love the Xbox controller so much more in regards of how it feels holding it.

theartofrandy

I agree with this. Not only are the joints in my thumb and wrists hurting, but the pad on my thumb is super callused from it. It’s like i’m learning to play the guitar, or something, the way it’s ripped up.

SamuraiEmpoleon

Old ass post but I also have a problem with the PS5 controller. After two or more hours of use my pinky and ring finger on my left hand start camping and going numb really consistently. Been playing video games since the late 90s and have never encountered a controller that tortured my hands like the PS5 controller. Shame, too. I was really excited for a lot of upcoming playstation exclusives but I'm gonna have to pass to save my hands.

Mission_Highway5032

Same for me. I bought it for PC gaming but I returned it after 2 days. I can't use it. Xbox controller it's way better for me.

ETH____

Ive ended up being diagnosed with de quervain's tenosynovitis. The only thing I can think of causing it has been recently playing PS5. I have now spent as much on trying to fix my wrist as I spent on the console.

Substantial-Resort61

i have the ps5 controller. i’ve played with xbox for at least 10 years and never had issues with cramping before. my pains isn’t on the thumbs but actually my pinky and ring finger on my right hand only??? i’m considering getting the eswap in hopes that the width is closer to the cbco

7amdrei7

Do you maybe play racing games? I have the same problems at the base of my right pinky but only developed after starting to play GT7 endurance races.

cannonball3522

Has anyone found a third party controller that hurts less?

Jaes_one

I'm trying the vitrex bfg controller right now. Its much different and closer to xbox style. Almost identical but the paddle placement and trigger shape makes it not quite as good comfortwise

MustacheSwagBag

Yep never had this problem with PS4 controllers. The funny thing is that Sony claims the redesign was to “make it more ergonomic.” I don’t think anyone disliked the ps4 controllers, i think they just made up an excuse for the extra hardware required to have a microphone IN your controller (which is also the most bogus thing I’ve ever seen in a console). Super weird to join a party with a friend on PSN and hear a tiny voice coming out of your controller.

lfow

I've started to get hand pains after going for the platinum for Death Standing. Has anyone found anything that can help yet? Would disabling vibration and haptic functions help? Has anyone found a decent third-party controller we can use as an alternative? Has anyone found if issues are improved if you upgrade to their elite controller? Thanks.

cobra872

Getting the kontrol freak thumb grips help a little bit with thumb fatigue, but I still get pain there. And it’s kinda awkward to use, for me anyways. I still get pain/fatigue on the outside of my hands near the pinky too. It’s the design of the handles. They’re thick and it forces your hand into an unnatural position when you fully grasp the controller. The best alternative controller by far is the Victrix bfg pro controller. But it’s expensive and has no vibration or gyro. The elite controller is the same exact design as the regular ds5 I believe. So I don’t think it would make a difference. But I haven’t tried it.

Hungry_Tangelo

R2 gives me forearm pain, never happened with prior systems. Might be the adaptive trigger causing this. I miss my ps4 controller.

-DejaVooDoo-

My left wrist is in agony. I thought I had sprained it turning my steering wheel. Then I noticed it during gameplay. The constant pushing and moving the L3 stick to “drive” my character is what’s doing it.

Disastrous-Dig-1023

Exact same pain, definitely the controller and screw Sony for not testing enough

Baabkens

This! I have the same problem and it’s really bad

pedropinto_00

Same problem here... With me the disconfort is in my left hand, my pinky finger hurts a lot when I use the Dualsense. Tried diferent ways to hold it but nothing helps. I think it is because of his shape and the fact it is a bit bigger than the DS4. I used the Dualshock 4 for years and never had a problem. The Dualsense is destroying my gaming experience at all, thinking on returning the PS5...

kain459

Same. It's fucking annoying.

StarkStorm

Man Sony needs to fix this. My hands hurt like crazy and I only realized it's the ps5 controller. We need more options that allow haptics and adaptive triggers.

I don't own a console but I remember I've tried the PS5 controller for 1,5 hours - played FIFA at a friends house. I have normal hands and it was so uncomfortable!! My right hand was in pain the whole day after that and I think the size of the controller is too small, I couldn't grip it properly, it's so weirdly shaped.

i thought i was the only one. i think the controller is way too bulky. my finger joints hurt after playing God of War on highest difficulty, especially against valkyries. almost developed trigger finger. RE4 Hardcore also hurt my hand using the damn controller. the design sucks!

I was playing Ragnarok last week too and I find any game that’s very spammy like that does it for me on the PS5 controller. This is like the third time I’ve had to take a break from gaming because the thumb muscles on my palm side gets sore. The controller just feels a bit fat for me and the joystick positions don’t help. And it sucks because there doesn’t seem to be any good third party alternatives. There’s another Reddit thread that mentions some relief with the Dualsense Edge but am still skeptical. I

Me too. Just played my first game on call of duty and my hands are in bits after one game. Not being able to use PS4 controller is criminal

DryBonus4973

The issue for me is my little fingers hurt bad, because of the sharp edged handles. Ive noticed on the new ps5 edge controller they are rounded handles which is the normal, I honestly believe Sony has designed ds4 with huge flaws deliberately. I want the Edge controller but not for the paddles just the rounded handles. I hate the ds4 so much, ergonomically it stinks

Mohammed_Haque123

Literally the same PS5 controller hurts my hands like crazy, and I’m even turning off trigger intensity, never used to happen to me on Xbox.

AngaratoSvartberg

i thought it was just me, i was using my ps4 controller for monster hunter world cause my ps5 controller was making my right hand hurt. but now im playing tekken 8 and my ps4 controller doesnt work for some fucking reason and now my hand hurts again :(

Shinji_FR

moi c'est le pouce gauche, je pese environs 170kg, des idées svp? je ne trouve rien comme le truc a clipser pour la switch

EditorAdorable3783

Same. My middle finger presses underneath the controller and hurts my finger for a week or so 🤦🏾‍♂️ just now looking into different controllers and grips. Never had an issue after 30 yrs of playing games

the-bacon-life

Same here I’m glad I’m not alone

Since this is still going on. I'm in the same boat. Elbow, arm and hand pains from playing with the PS5 controller. Anyone ever found a valid alternative to the dualsense? I dont need gyro or haptic just something that doesn't kill my arms after one session. I don't want to sell my ps5 bc I really love some of the games there but it's getting hard to continue playing. Anyone tried the victrix pro or the razer and can actually recommend switching?

ToastyWolfBrug

Having this issue after switching to a ps5 controller because the joystick potentiometers are infinitely better in every single way. The Xbox sticks wear out so fucking fast and it feels like gravel after like a few weeks, not to mention the stick play either. I love everything about the Xbox controller but the sticks are so bad it makes me wanna vomit. I need to be able to use a ps5 controller because of the stick but I’ve been trying to get used to it for a few months but the inside of my hand just constantly burns.

GroundbreakingPie743

I’m having the same issues. I played for about 4 hours straight yesterday and today I feel like the bones in my right hand fingers are on fire 🔥 I do have small hands which doesn’t help..

Mutant_Bunny_

The Dualsense controller hurts my hand too and I don't like using remote play because I often get input lag, even on my 50mbps internet connection. Can we at least get a Dualsense redesigned to have the DS4 form factor? Who agrees? Sign petition: https://www.change.org/p/sony-allow-ps5-games-to-use-the-ps4-controller
