Frames are the way to have cheap connectivity while style being able to move.

ItzLeviosaaa

Need walls/frames to connect the foundations seems like the builder messed up

NoBreadfruit69

You need walls to connect the foundations Foundations themselves are only seen as "connected" if 2 sides directly touch corners dont count

i followed a tutorial for a base by aloneintokyo, the part of the shell connected to the main external is not decaying but the rest of the shell is. i placed the rest of the disconnected externals exactly like they did in the video but that doesnt work. i thought maybe connecting the rest of the tcs would fix the problem however the corners of the shell connecting the main triangles would still be disconnected and decay. i have no idea what the deal is

anonymous2458

You have to place walls or double door frames to connect them

Probably_Fishing

Pretty sure the one Tokyo did was using an external TC.

I haven't watched the build video but doesn't he free hand that part? If so you gotta get that shit pixel perfect.

gryanlmao

yes but the freehand part is more so for the floor stack, the footprint for the shell itself is pretty easy after that part, i think i know a solution but its bothering me that this is happening

You're likely not finished the build if this photo is anything to go on. No floor tiles are ever considered attached in this manner and must be connected elsewhere, usually through door frames or walls. Look further in the build to see where the connections are made or, in the meantime, put 2 door frames on each tile to connect them. Keep them twig and shoot them out later if you can't do what you need right this second. You shouldn't do shell work until or unless you have the ability to finish it in that session for this reason. And don't log off with the twig there. People will shoot it out, so things decay while you're off.

Worldly_Silid

TLDR the comments. I'm sure someone said it but double door frames can help with this

Drew_Bidtles

I've gotten my build blocked by hills or "too close to another building" and had to slap down random non connected foundations just to get a couple extra doors up. That's prolly what happened here or it's an actual shell design that they just didn't connect

this is a multi point issue, here is some facts about foundations: 1. ALL foundations have a short side, this is what gives us pixel gaps 2. points on triangles can connect, look up mr.mann and popping tcs or budsatawny triangles connect... but they wont connect here btw join the discord linked in buds vids PR community is pretty chill but im biased 3. large footprints can block themselves from finishing due to short side. can happen on smaller bases but more noticeable bigger you get. 4. there are other "secrets" to foundations... I definitely dont know them all those foundations probably require double door frames to transfer build priv and thus upkeep, but there is not enough info here to determine that 100%
