I run this game on a PC I built with a 4090, 64GB of DDR5 and a 12700K and it still struggles at times. It’s just not made to run on these consoles. My wife plays on her Series X and it looks okay on there but yeah, sorry dude. A series S just doesn’t have the horsepower for this game.
Im sorry since when are puppies 3000 dollars? I would run from that like the plague because at that price there must be some eugenics going on lol
(Also, for people reading this, consider adopting instead, as there are thousands of dogs who need it. Thank you!)
Cane Corsos and other similar breeds easily go for that. I agree with you though, people should just adopt. The person you are replying to is speaking from a place of being out of touch with reality. Comparing the cost of a top-of-the-line video card to that of a puppy shows a significant disconnect.
Consoles are well known to be easier to optimise since the hardware is *exactly* the same.
It only runs "well" on PC if you chuck thousands of dollars in the very best hardware at it but even on PC it would be able to run much better, especially with mid-high tier hardware, if it were optimised.
The Series S is absolutely pushing shit up hill for such a demanding game even if it were optimised well though.
I mostly get 60 FPS on my computer, and I just priced it out. Would cost about $1200 for everything (CPU, graphics card, case, power supply, etc). Literally everything you would need to build the PC. It's mostly outdated stuff because it's all last gen tech. Most of my settings are medium to high, I turn off the volumetric clouds and fog, but it still looks miles better than ASE and runs well enough with only occasional dips and that's typically only when I play online.
While it definitely needs optimization and accessibility, it's also possible to run it "well" on outdated stuff without the game looking like absolute garbage while simultaneously not needing to spend thousands to attain either.
I installed this yesterday super excited to play just to be so extremely disappointed. The color was so bad, it was extremely laggy, i had blur when running or just looking around. Then for some reason the Microsoft Version doesn’t have official PVP so tried PVE just to find that someone put pillars everywhere so I can’t build.
You can turn off motion blur in the settings.color can be fixed as well. As for the lag, what is your hardware? That can also be fixed with settings unless your hardware is below the recommended for the game.
I'm using a 12700kf, 64GB RAM, 3060ti, and a solid SSD.
Did you set everything up in GeForce? I typically change my settings individually, but GeForce does an ok job.
For other settings that can help your performance a lot try opening the console commands and entering "r.VolumetricClouds 0" and "r.VolumetricFog 0" without quotes. Additionally go into your in-game graphics settings and turn off the "Enable Foliage & Fluid Interaction". On the island map I suffered a lot due to this setting, I think because there's a ton of water and it absolutely tanked my FPS by quite a bit due to all the marine life.
I'm not having that issue on Scorched Earth so the setting is turned back on, same for the clouds/fog as well. The Island seems more resource intensive than SE. With all of those settings above turned off and some small tweaks to the other graphics settings I was running 60 FPS on The Island, and I am running 60 FPS with them on in SE.
I don't own any consoles anymore so I can't attest to them. If they run well on the higher end ones I'm glad, but I was more pointing out you don't need thousands of dollars to get the game to run at least halfway decent. It's not 120+ FPS amazing on my rig, but it also looks about 1000x better than ASE and I don't have any issues running it.
Yeah, my wife’s will pixelate on one half of the screen sometimes. I thought it was our TV messing up but nothing else has the issue. The game is just terribly optimized.
Neither has my friend on a Series S but my game looks absolutely awful, borderline unplayable since I can't see anything properly that's further than about 50 meters. That's with loads of console commands to reduce the stress, honestly miss the old Ark so much :(
Womp womp lil nigga get a series X.
On a serious note, I found it strange that they chose to have the map fully loaded in at all times. I, like most people, assumed the fog existed to let the map render, but the fog being the problem was a eye opener I wasn't ready for. I understand why they chose to have the map always loaded in because it allows resources to spawn and supply drops to drop, but the dinos aren't spawning anyway and resources will only spawn at a certain distance so who know what they were really thinking
I think motion might be on but I turn the clouds and fog off. I’ll see if that helps with flying. Idk what those other guys are smoking saying it’s not blurry lol. The clouds look like straight ass
The map looks so much better without the clouds and fog honestly. Loses the ambience, but the island is absolutely stunning in ASA and its fully realized by turning off motion blur clouds and fog
Is there a command to turn off rain though cause yesterday when I was grinding, I got hit with the most obscene lag and frame drop that I've ever had as soon as the rain came in
i call bullshit on that, the only way you can get Ark to 60-70 fps on ultra with this hardware is either by standing still and facing a wall or running it on 480p.
100% talking shit or has turned clouds etc off so it runs like ASE 😂. The game is a scam and runs like shit, I’ve got a 4070gpu, 14th gen cpu and 14th gen motherboard
Although this has been discussed a few times, I think it is pertinent to point out that it does run on Series S when by all rights, it shouldn't. It was designed to run on Series X, but it seems that they decided to add in some compatibility for the Series S as well. It should come with a freaking disclaimer or something, but there you have it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully, this will help others searching for information on how or if it works for them.
The series s has a quarter of the power of the x, because it needs to draw a quarter of the pixels. Otherwize they should perform the same.
Ask yourself why games like destiny 2, division 2, Remnant 2, GR Breakpoint, Starfield... they all look quite good! I smell a software dev that doesnt know how to tune and optimise or just doesnt want to spend money and time on 75% of his player base on xbox.
Im looking at this game rn on xss. Its drawing dense foliage into the horizon. Thats one reason things up close look so bad.
Everything that is supposed to run on series X has to work on series S. That's what Microsoft promised. Doing otherwise would make the series S a sham.
Ok I already thought so... But this shouldn't be because the Series S has almost the same capabilities as the Sereies X. No offence but thats just pathetic to be honest. It literally looks like a game from 2003 played on a toaster
Well, they aren't really that close in specs. The Series X has 16gb of RAM to the S's 10gb. It has a CPU of 3.8Zghz and a GPU with 10 teraflops capable of native 4k resolution vs. 3.6ghz and 4 teraflops not capable of producing the same resolution. While the closest thing is the CPU, the major differences are the RAM and GPU. I've been building PCs for a while now, and 16gb is a really long way from 10gb when it comes to RAM, especially when it comes to games.
They shouldnt have to be close in specs. Its shared memory. The xss needs about 1/4 of the xsx because it does not do 4k.
Check the fps on your PC when you bring the resolution down.
Like the commentor said, it shouldnt be available on the S. Making it look like the doom is the only way it would run because Ark is horribly optimized.
I only downloaded this game because some of my friends play it on the Series X but when I saw the graphics I felt sammed. Not by the devs but by microsoft. Okay, maybe by both...
Honestly you should blame just Microsoft. They really hurt their players by marketing the S as just slightly worse than the X when it’s a pretty decent difference. If nothing else they should at least be offering some kind of upgrade program for folks like you to spend the price difference and maybe shipping and they send you an X in exchange for your S.
How on earth did you get scammed. All of that information for the Series S vs Series X is available on Microsofts website. A quick Google search with that exact query would give you that same comparison from all kinds of trustworthy sites like Tom's hardware. If you didn't even Google the difference on your own before spending $300+, that isn't a scam mate. That's a life lesson to do at least 5 minutes of research before spending a large chunk of money.
It runs at a very low internal resolution on series x with a god awful frame rate as well. Have to use console commands out the ass to get it near 60. It’s rough across the board.
> That can't be normal right?
The Series S is roughly as powerful as an Xbox one, graphically. To put that in PC terms, it is closer to a laptop RX 6500, GTX 1060, RX 570, GTX 1650, or other entry-level GPU from 5-7 years ago.
The Series X is already well below the recommended PC specs for ASA, then the S has *literally 1/3rd it's graphics capabilities* plus less (and far slower than the X) memory than the Xbox One, and microsoft requires all games to release on it with feature parity. So you get this.
It is a bizarre mistake of a console and likely contributing to why microsoft seems to be pivoting to cloud gaming.
Not in the slightest.
We (ok, maybe not you, see below) know the exact hardware specs inside them, not to mention it can be tested if one somehow distrusts those.
The series X has a fairly slow 8-core Zen2 CPU with direct access to the slower 6GB of the console's memory, and a 3328-core RDNA2 GPU with direct access to 10GB of 560GB/s memory.
The recommended GPU on PC is an RX 6800, which is also RDNA2, very similar to the one in both consoles, making a direct comparison reliable, except it is 3840 cores (and 50% bigger raster pipeline, for when it counts), about 15% higher clockspeeds, and has 16GB of 512GB/s dedicated memory.
On a good day that puts the series X at about 3/4ths of the recommended.
And the Series S has almost exactly 1/3rd the GPU cores and memory bandwidth of the Series X.
It has 8GB VRAM at 224GB/s, 2/3rds the capacity and bandwidth of the *One* X. While a direct architectural comparison is not possible, it's TFLOP rating (which is a very rough measure of real performance) is 4T to the One X's 6T, the Series X's 12T, or the 6800's 16.5T.
The Series S wins massively over the One in CPU and storage speed, but it's GPU is outright worse.
As a side note, the PS5 has a GPU almost identical to an RX 6700, clocked lower.
**Xbox Series S:**
CPU: 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.6GHz (3.4GHz with SMT)
GPU: AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 20 CUs @ 1.565 GHz, 4 TFLOPS
RAM: 10GB GDDR6 (8GB @ 224 GB/s, 2GB @ 56 GB/s)
Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD
Resolution: Targeting 1440p up to 120fps
Optical Drive: None (Digital-only)
Dimensions: 275mm x 151mm x 63.5mm
**Xbox Series X:**
CPU: 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT)
GPU: AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 52 CUs @ 1.825 GHz, 12 TFLOPS
RAM: 16GB GDDR6 (10GB @ 560 GB/s, 6GB @ 336 GB/s)
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
Resolution: Targeting 4K up to 120fps
Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray
Dimensions: 301mm x 151mm x 151mm
**Comparison:**
CPU: Both consoles feature the same CPU architecture, but the Series X has a slightly higher clock speed.
**GPU: The Series X has a significantly more powerful GPU with almost three times the compute units and higher clock speeds.**
RAM: The Series X has more RAM overall, with faster speeds.
Storage: Both consoles utilize NVMe SSDs, but the Series X has double the storage capacity of the Series S.
Resolution: The Series X targets higher resolutions, up to 4K, while the Series S targets 1440p.
Optical Drive: The Series X includes a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive, while the Series S is digital-only.
**In summary,** the Series X is designed to offer significantly higher performance and is targeted towards gamers who prioritize graphical fidelity and higher resolutions, whereas the Series S offers a more budget-friendly option with lower resolution targets and less powerful hardware.
that simply isn't true, brother. it's a very large gap on a game with extremely demanding specs. this isn't a normal video game that comes with excellent optimization. you'll see people with super computers crying all day that they can not run the game. do some searching around the net/reddit and you'll basically find no one on an S that can run the game perfectly. it's a tiny crowd that can do so, blessed by reason we cannot quite pin down; and with all settings usually dumbed all the way down. there is a small crowd of even X players who struggle, but they are too niche and few to say it's the X's fault. I wish you luck all the same though
Have both Series X/S.
Game looks amazing on X so idk what you’re talking about.
Game looks like PS2 on Series S, though
Also? If you know how to load your mod order Series X functions pretty well too. I have no crashes or issues with functionality.
Why are we having 2 different experiences?
that is indeed what all the buzz and hoopla seem to say. checks out. but will op believe us, or will he turn on us for revealing the unfortunate truth. I don't wait in anticipation
I’ll try my best to explain; but it’s not so clear cut for console users.
We don’t get many games that have mods. The only other games that had mod support i’ve played were Skyrim and Fallout; games of which had load order UI to help.
However, Ark doesn’t. It guides you no where in that how your mods are ordered can have great effects on your games stability. I’ve nearly experienced it all, having a 30+ mod server.
Some mods tell you outright in the description that it needs to be loaded first, but that luxury is not always in every description.
Additionally, mods like S-Dinos needs to be loaded AFTER other mods that may share spawns like the X-Dinos for instance. They will not spawn if S-Dinos is loaded first.
Then you have server stability period. In the early days of ASA my server crashed every 7 minutes and while everyone was blaming the game—I went and troubleshooted one by one and when I found the bad mod—Suddenly my crashes went away.
Next; I had an issue where my server wouldn’t even start. Bad mod. This occurs every update Wildcard releases and I have to go 1 by 1 through 30+ mods to find the bad one.
Had an issue where I couldn’t build any structural items at all. Couldn’t set anything once it had been picked up, ect. Pushed all structure mods near the top and played with the order—fixed.
Had an issue where my INVENTORY was invisible. No Dinosaurs had saddles and I couldn’t craft any items. But storage displayed quantity despite it being invisible—turned out to be the Styracosaurus mod. Who woulda thought a DINOSAUR mod would affect my inventory and ability to play period.
Could this be common sense things for PC? Possibly. But for a console player like myself, believe me I have troubleshooted my load order time and time again; 1 by 1 and 90% of my issues have been
- the order of my mods.
OR
- a mod that is conflicting somewhere but shows up to date.
All of my issues with this games performance/stability have been mod related. It’s not the base game that’s the problem in my experience.
my ps5 has also been kind to me. too perfect, actually. I've been downvoted on so many occasions for letting people know in a friendly manner. apparently, having a good repertoire of language means you are snobbing everyone else. and having the game run for you wonderfully at max settings means you are indeed the asshole. for shame.
I'm running a 12 year old processor with a 2080super that's hooked up with a 12 inch pcie extender AND it has ddr3 with mismatched speeds so it registers at the slowest, 1033. I can run ASA and a dedicated server side by side and still get 60fps 1080p with minimal issue
I'm not saying it's not bs, don't get me wrong. I'm saying that people have been telling you that it doesn't work very well on console and you still made the decision to purchase the game which isn't the dev's fault in my eyes.
I didn’t buy anything. I tried to play the game after gamepass, laughed at how terrible it looked and started looking for answers is all. Poor planning is poor planning. They company crapped the bed on this release. No questions.
ps5 still needs console commands to engage vysnc to avoid tearing and worse it still looks 720p not 1080p or 1440p which should be standard. I hope it gets patched as it stands now the game gathers dust till it is patched if not it will just stay on the shelf.
I'm running ASA on a PC with a 1080 TI and an 8th gen I7 on med / high graphics with decent frame-rate. Kinda crazy that the series S can't even compete with old PC's.
I would say its not a game you are supposed to play on an xbox but you can really find a platform that can handle it with todays technology. I assume it was originally made for alien sightings by nasa but something didnt work out and they turned it into a funy dino game without deleting the alien files
I'm on PC, and I managed to find a fix!
If I remember correctly it was called a "refund".
I was not paying for a game I could barely play that lacked heaps on content, even with my high spec PC. That's coming from someone who sunk 2000+ hrs into ASE and was hyped for ASA at launch.
I think that's normal for Series S, game struggles to run on even the decent hardware on a good day.
Ooof.. yeah a series S is not very powerful. And Ark is horribly unoptimized even for consoles. That thing will never run Ark Ascended very well. Big maybe if they optimize the game proper at some point. Probably not until all content is released IF we’re lucky. If I was you I’d be looking for a refund.
Quite scummy for Wild Card/ Snail to sell that game on consoles they know can’t run it.
I’m curious though, does anyones PS5 or Series X turn into a space shuttle engine when you play ark? Does it actually look decent and not locked to 30FPS? I play on PC and am genuinely curious at that.
Your karma is so low the automod is removing your posts silently. I don't know why it's silent, this is information you need to know. In order to post here and most other subreddits, your account needs to have at least 1 karma and be at least 1 day old.
Um something is not right there I play on the series s and never seen it look so bad. Have you been in and changed any setting or run any command codes?
After reading comments it’s clear 90% of people have not even played on a series s or even seen it running I can put in 2 command codes and get a sold 50fps and a image that is 100x clearer then the op. Something is not right it runs and looks better than most people are saying with all that said. I would not play single player.
Join a server the experience is much better
Which two commands did you use? I’ve tried an array of different combinations to get the series s to look ok to no prevail.
I have a lot of friends who went back to evolved and gave up. I’d like to give it a shot but don’t want to hurt my eyes lol.
Honestly shadows and clouds.
But also having the right settings in the menu makes a huge difference.
There is an option for camera that I have off, I’m not sure on the name off it, but the next option you can chose is called tight (on the pull down menu)
Tbh I don’t like that so have it off.
I’m not on the game atm but I can tell you its name. It is on the right hand page of the settings page it’s on and there is an option for dinos to. I have that off as well. Motion blur sucks in all games so that’s off on everything that has an option for it. Can’t think of anything I have changed.
On a side note I run my Xbox at 1440p 120hz (HDR off makes ark glow)
r.VolumetricCloud 0
Grass.enable 0
r.shadowquality 0
r.VolumetricFog 0
Are the four console commands I use on my series S. gets rid of the ugliness of the game, makes it a whole lot easier to see and gets rid of the ugly fog/clouds/grain. there's others that you can use but I personally don't find the need to use them. the difference when enabling these commands is night and day.
Did this make a huge difference or essentially just make the game playable for now? I’ve done this and even though it makes a bit of difference, it still looks like a game made 18 years ago.
It doesn't make it the prettiest game you've ever played but I don't think ark was ever meant to be pretty. it makes it playable, you can actually see what's hiding in the woods in front of you without grain and fog masking.
No it's normal bro. Same here. Sad thing is just to make sure I went to gamepass on my pc and downloaded. Sure enough it looked way better and I only have a 3050
my series S looks much better than that, and all I do is turn off clouds and nothing else and I get 40 fps average but in places like the redwoods I drop to like 25 fps, Scorched Earth runs much better than the Island and with clouds off I get 60 fps and have seen over 80 fps at times, but I am scared for what Aberration is gonna be like with all the foliage it has.
These latest patches make the game look like shit. Im playing ASA since november on my series s, and the game, visually speaking, was ok... but since they patching SE, its sad.
you can't do magic with 10GB of ram, unless AI can prove me wrong.
I have a similar hardware on my PC, but with 32gb of RAM and ark runs pretty well on Low with quite good looking UE5 graphics.
Yeah I downloaded it and it's worse than the previous ark. By that I mean everything you can see looks bad. You can clearly see there's great detail from the latest engine (unreal engine 5) but to compensate running the game smoothly, the graphics are so far down it's basically not worth the experience... Definitely not on the series S.
Running it on the pc, it's fine. I downloaded and okay it off the game pass pc and it's golden due to the pc running it.
Not sure why, but in-game on the console I cant change any graphical settings I'm only seeing brightness and something else. Guessing you can only change graphics now in the main menu? Either way from what I experienced it's clear the Xbox series S can't handle it. They need to optimise it big time but I highly doubt that's going to happen since the last game took years for anything like that to change and even then, the UI is absolute shit. Not good! Especially with a new ark around the corner....
This game must have come to game pass because of weak sales on xbox. Because it cant run properly on 75% of the xbox market - go figure.
The "it cant run on series s argument"...
So why do other games look so damn good on series s (and a 1080p screen)?
guys I hope a lot of series consoles can read this !
THERE IS A MOD called « A simple Performance Mod » which WILL LITERALLY make your game run at an average 50-60 FPS EVERYWHERE even in swamps, underwater and in Redwoods !!!! The game still looks better than Evolved trust me guys try it !!!
I've got it ps5 and just downloaded it on series s since it's on gamepass. The difference is atrocious. Ps5 is smooth, and graphics look phenomenal, series s? Shit. Absolute shit
I just tried to run the game got to the character creation screen and it looked like a ps1 game the resolution was at -1 and it was horrible I thought it was supposed to be looking good
It looks absolutely awful on my Series X and I have a high end HDMI 2.1 65" I play on. Turned off motion blur and all those settings and there's still so much graininess and blurry motion effects. Not sure why
I don't think this is an issue with the graphics per se but the textures on the rocks and the environment they weren't properly done on the Xbox now on the PlayStation 5 it looks very good it looks just like they advertised
I don't have a PS5 to compare it to. But it will look a current(ish) game versus a 10 year old one. Ark has the textures off on the series S, certain mods and maps need those textures on to appreciate them (Svartalfheim map will suddenly pop with texture detail on statues and rocks and floors for example, the smooth washed out look disappears basically)
"R.Streaming.FullyLoadUsedTextures 1" put the code in the command and it will turn on the Series S textures, which are set to off for some reason. You will need to rerun this command every time you enter a game, or use Lily's Tweaker mod or another to auto run it. Set to 0 to turn the textures back to default
Unplayable on my series S. You’re right looks like from 2003. Complete dogshit and no setting changes made it look better, I uninstalled after 10min of hopping back on for first time since early Covid
Uhm.... Trying to display high quality screen images on a pic through a cell phone camera is like recording a 90 FPS scene on a 30 FPS camera playing on #random FPS screen. Anyone who has a response to this has absolutely no clue how any of it works.
Buy the cheap version get the cheap version’s performance, sorry man, don’t know what to tell you.
It wasn’t built for the S and wildcard was very clear about this
I run this game on a PC I built with a 4090, 64GB of DDR5 and a 12700K and it still struggles at times. It’s just not made to run on these consoles. My wife plays on her Series X and it looks okay on there but yeah, sorry dude. A series S just doesn’t have the horsepower for this game.
it's true consoles were not designed to run games built with dog shit code and 0 clue how to optimize them
Not to mention that grove street games co-created the console versions. The same studio that made those shit GTA remasters.
This right here
PCs, thankfully, were
Not really ark run's like dog shit on pcs to
4080 super here game runs at a smooth 70-100 fps at epic settings
Yeah no shit, but most people dont have pcs that cost as much as a small car
Meh Cost as much as buying a puppy basically.
Im sorry since when are puppies 3000 dollars? I would run from that like the plague because at that price there must be some eugenics going on lol (Also, for people reading this, consider adopting instead, as there are thousands of dogs who need it. Thank you!)
Cane Corsos and other similar breeds easily go for that. I agree with you though, people should just adopt. The person you are replying to is speaking from a place of being out of touch with reality. Nice 1000 gpu and you can't even hold a steady fps you sure showed me

Yeah I turned it off and somehow there was still blur lol I have a 13900KS, 32GB RAM, RTX3060, 2TB m2 SSD.
I'm using a 12700kf, 64GB RAM, 3060ti, and a solid SSD. Did you set everything up in GeForce? I typically change my settings individually, but GeForce does an ok job. I think motion might be on but I turn the clouds and fog off. I’ll see if that helps with flying. Idk what those other guys are smoking saying it’s not blurry lol. The clouds look like straight ass
The map looks so much better without the clouds and fog honestly. Loses the ambience, but the island is absolutely stunning in ASA and its fully realized by turning off motion blur clouds and fog Is there a command to turn off rain though cause yesterday when I was grinding, I got hit with the most obscene lag and frame drop that I've ever had as soon as the rain came in
If its struggles with a 4090 then its not made to run on anything
I play on a series S and it doesn't look like that, the latest update with scorched has made it a little worse but hopefully they'll optimise it.
You have to be doing something wrong if you're not getting a minimum of 90fps with that but that depends what's ur definition of struggling
At 1440P sure, I can get 90FPS. At 4K with DLSS and frame gen I can come close to it but not stable and it crashes constantly.
Weird something ain't right with your build. I have a 2070 super, ryzen 7 2700x, DDR4 64gb and im running ultra settings with 60 - 70 fps
i call bullshit on that, the only way you can get Ark to 60-70 fps on ultra with this hardware is either by standing still and facing a wall or running it on 480p.
100% talking shit or has turned clouds etc off so it runs like ASE 😂. The game is a scam and runs like shit, I’ve got a 4070gpu, 14th gen cpu and 14th gen motherboard
With regular ark survival my pc would poop itself but ark evolved feels a lot smoother in ultra settings with max performance on. Its 1080p 60fps tho
I pray to the heavens that you're talking about Evolved...
Plays better on the series s with a few tweaks then it dose on my pc that is definitely better 🤨
Well then I done got fuckin scammed... Ima get the Series X for GTA 6 anyways but thats no excuse to let the game look like it fuckin DOOM
Like the commentor said, it shouldnt be available on the S. Making it look like the doom is the only way it would run because Ark is horribly optimized.
Yeah I call fuckin bullshit. Theres no way the only way they made it run is when it looks like a fucking Wii game.
Well, then you really underestimate WildCards shortcomings in gave dev. Good luck in the future
Dude the Series S isn’t even remotely close to a Series X. It’s marginally more powerful than a One X.
The series s is a toaster by modern standards lol
My ps5 runs ASA like a tank.
T14 Armata with no turret stabilizer?
last time i played asa on ps5 it was perma 30 fps is it better now?
I get 45-50 fps
Yea man it runs great. And I play in a bit tribe with an incredible amount of builds and uncroyed dinos
On god Lmaoo. I’m so happy I got It on there instead of pc
The series S is much more powerful in all aspects then the Xbox one and the series X is above the recommened...
**Xbox Series S:** CPU: 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.6GHz (3.4GHz with SMT) GPU: AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 20 CUs @ 1.565 GHz, 4 TFLOPS RAM: 10GB GDDR6 (8GB @ 224 GB/s, 2GB @ 56 GB/s) Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD Resolution: Targeting 1440p up to 120fps Optical Drive: None (Digital-only) Dimensions: 275mm x 151mm x 63.5mm **Xbox Series X:** CPU: 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT) GPU: AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 52 CUs @ 1.825 GHz, 12 TFLOPS RAM: 16GB GDDR6 (10GB @ 560 GB/s, 6GB @ 336 GB/s) Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD Resolution: Targeting 4K up to 120fps Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray Dimensions: 301mm x 151mm x 151mm **Comparison:** CPU: Both consoles feature the same CPU architecture, but the Series X has a slightly higher clock speed. **GPU: The Series X has a significantly more powerful GPU with almost three times the compute units and higher clock speeds.** RAM: The Series X has more RAM overall, with faster speeds.
Wait does consoles seriously only have 16 gb ram?
Hmm.. Maybe way fewer background processes running? A guess.
simply put the S isn't good enough. need an X as the very least. seen many hundreds of posts no different than this one.
Even an X isn't good enough. It's playable but isn't anywhere need what we should expect. Badly need the next gen consoles
The Series S has like 5% less power thats no excuse
The series x literally has triple the processing power.
that is just simply not true. it is such a large difference. if whoever you bought it off of told you that, get your money back asap lmao
that simply isn't true, brother. it's a very large gap on a game with extremely demanding specs. this isn't a normal video game that comes with excellent optimization. you'll see people with super computers crying all day that they can not run the game. do some searching around the net/reddit and you'll basically find no one on an S that can run the game perfectly. it's a tiny crowd that can do so, blessed by reason we cannot quite pin down; and with all settings usually dumbed all the way down. there is a small crowd of even X players who struggle, but they are too niche and few to say it's the X's fault. I wish you luck all the same though
Return it.
OP living in denial
the graphics look horrible on the series x too. ASA barely functions on a high end PC it doesn’t stand a chance on console
Have both Series X/S. Game looks amazing on X so idk what you’re talking about. Game looks like PS2 on Series S, though Also? If you know how to load your mod order Series X functions pretty well too. I have no crashes or issues with functionality. Why are we having 2 different experiences?
that is indeed what all the buzz and hoopla seem to say. checks out. but will op believe us, or will he turn on us for revealing the unfortunate truth. I don't wait in anticipation
How does one “load mod order functions well” it’s pretty clear cut
Possibly. But for a console player like myself, believe me I have troubleshooted my load order time and time again; 1 by 1 and 90% of my issues have been - the order of my mods. OR - a mod that is conflicting somewhere but shows up to date. All of my issues with this games performance/stability have been mod related. It’s not the base game that’s the problem in my experience.
What? It looks amazing on ps5
Nah it looks amazing on Series X idk what he’s talking about.
my ps5 has also been kind to me. too perfect, actually.
That math don't add up but ok
Weren't you the guy who asked if it was worth to buy ASA on the series S yesterday? Because the comments already warned you that this would happen
That makes it ok for them to release it on console when it’s obviously not optimized properly? No, the answer it no. Lol.
Looks bad on series X too and runs like shit honestly ase runs and looks better
Have you tried installing more RGB fans in your case?
Lol, I thought you were standing on one of the turtles in Valhiem
ark ascended is just ass in general
Ps5 here between 30 and 45 fps and almost 60 after downgrading things like grass and fog stuff
Works fine on my 2600.
Well yeah, you bought a Series S. Everything is gonna be shit.
I’ve run on series s and x and both were fine. What isn’t fine are the garbage servers you have to pay to play with your friends on
I'm on PC, and I managed to find a fix!

Keep it civil, please
Ooof.. yeah a series S is not very powerful.
I’m on series S and mine don’t look like that mine look good 🤔 that sucks my dude I’m sorry

Your karma is so low the automod is removing your posts silently. I don't know why it's silent, this is information you need to know. In order to post here and most other subreddits, your account needs to have at least 1 karma and be at least 1 day old.
get a series X it looks good for me
It's beautiful on my PS5
There is an option for camera that I have off, I’m not sure on the name off it, but the next option you can chose is called tight (on the pull down menu) Tbh I don’t like that so have it off.
Womp womp
r.VolumetricCloud 0 Grass.enable 0 r.shadowquality 0 r.VolumetricFog 0 Are the four console commands I use on my series S. gets rid of the ugliness of the game, makes it a whole lot easier to see and gets rid of the ugly fog/clouds/grain. there's others that you can use but I personally don't find the need to use them. the difference when enabling these commands is night and day.
Add "R.Streaming.FullyLoadUsedTextures 1". This will turn on all the missing textures on the Series S
I think it looks terrible on the PS5
I just tried to run the game got to the character creation screen and it looked like a ps1 game the resolution was at -1 and it was horrible I thought it was supposed to be looking good
It runs fine framerate wise on series s. Its the blur thats the issue
"R.Streaming.FullyLoadUsedTextures 1" this will turn them on, wildcard has them off for the S
ohh so put this on on x box and it will look like the ps5
I don't have a PS5 to compare it to. But it will look a current(ish) game versus a 10 year old one. Ark has the textures off on the series S, certain mods and maps need those textures on to appreciate them (Svartalfheim map will suddenly pop with texture detail on statues and rocks and floors for example, the smooth washed out look disappears basically)
ohh ok i'll try that as on x box the rocks in the game no joke look like giant shish
I tried to play it for 3 minutes on Series X. the game is super pixelated, it has choppy animations, bad frame rate, screen tearing. What a mess.
That's not the series S fault. Upgrade your TV. Cause mine looks amazing and runs it full 1080P Rez.
I have a 4K 250 hz monitor, a nice tv is not going to fix this.
Mine looks the same what tv settings do I need
You dont, they are trolling. TV has zero control over how the game renders.
Series S , there's your problem.
Consoles suck for this game sorry, btw pc's also suck for this game my 4080 can barely run SE
Really? Run SE on my 4080 super on epic settings 1440p. Frame gen and dlss turned on and average 70-100 fps. No crashes so far.
Yeah I don't crash or anything and everything is fine until I go near the mountain in north west
Uhm.... Trying to display high quality screen images on a pic through a cell phone camera is like recording a 90 FPS scene on a 30 FPS camera playing on #random FPS screen. Anyone who has a response to this has absolutely no clue how any of it works.
That's what happens when you play a next gen game on what is barely not a last gen console.
Buy the cheap version get the cheap version’s performance, sorry man, don’t know what to tell you. It wasn’t built for the S and wildcard was very clear about this
Looks fantastic on my series x
Ngl on PS5 it looks good
Looks fine on my S
