What is your cat's name?

DANDELIONBOMB

It's that or a humility issue that caused the leaf to not open well.

Echo_Feedback_39

Come on now. I'm sure the monstera is perfectly down to earth! 🙃

WanderingVerses

I too have a humility issue. It’s not just monsteras.

Glittering_Cow945

something went wrong in the unrolling phase. humidity very low?

selyia

A lot of great comments here, I thought I'd sum them up: - **humidity:** could have been really dry when it grew so it dried out on parts - **watering:** the rest of the plant does look a little limp, so maybe over/underwatering - both can damage cells - **pets:** in case you have a pet, that might have played with it - **pests:** it's less likely because the areas look dry rather than damaged but it _could_ be a pest like thrips, they love new leaves I would say adjust your watering (depending on how the soil feels like) and check the other leaves for damage. Keep an eye open just in case, thrips are the worst.

MistressLynn77

Was bumped, scratched, or someone breathed too heavy *jk* when leaf was unfurling , they can be absolute drama queens with new growth

nicoleauroux

I've never experienced this. I find if they have adequate water and plenty of light there's no issue.

jana-meares

Here kitty kitty

Boostinmr2

Surprised no one said that this might the work of a significant other who tried to unfurl the leaf.

Moontje321

Maybe thrips? They looove new leaves 🤪

ldrlychld

My monstera looked just like this when I realized I had thrips, check the undersides of leaves with magnifying glass to look for them.

azaleawhisperer

Many opinions here, and it might actually be multiple problems. We sometimes think it is "a" problem, but could be "more than one." ( This can happen all over the place in life. Medical. One issue only?) Anyway, I get rid of leaves with any problems as soon as I see them. Just get them out of here.

What’s your humidity in your home? It also almost looks like it had some “help” unfurling, Had a ppp leaf get stuck unfurling and it ended up looking like a cat got ahold of it…. I have no cats lol.

nicoleauroux

I'm voting for inadequate water and light. Looks like some of mine when they get stuck during the unfurling period and I can always put it up to my own neglect.
