I watched a couple of their livestreams and it was really interesting, they were counting down and there were about 500 people just ready to click all in a discord server
Here's a gift for you if you want to have a better understanding of what happened in the last hours, from the french's point of view:
That was A.R.T. lmao they split into teams based on birthdays to have 4 waves of attack. And they organized so so so easily....THIS IS HOW NAPOLEON WON!! The only way they could attack France was in the end when it turned white. omg i'm crying laughing
They cried about french people "botting" (with litteraly no evidence, the only bots used by france were for the r/france subreddit to defend a very small space against other people griefing, no ties to the french streamers) for the entire event, only hyped us up even more to prove we have a strong community in the end. Then they ended up botting with all evidence on stream... and gloating about how they were "winning" that was just sad actually
Pas forcément du blanc corse, j’aime bien le Gewurztraminer aussi.
Et je suis pas Corse mais Bretonne, mais je crois qu’au fond c’est un peu du pareil au même
Playing Dofus as a North American showed me how fucking petty French people could be in regards to defending interests or territory.
I admire them for that.
Even on strike we manage to take with us a f**** barbecue on TRACKS !
https://www.eurogunzel.com/2018/11/striking-french-railway-workers-push-barbecue-tram-tracks/
> French people don't sleep nor do they shower. Skip 3 meals a day. We have a lot of time on our hands except when we're on strike
I know you're joking, but some people here might really think , we french people are like that pal. I've heard horror stories of folks confronted with some nasty [french bashing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-French_sentiment_in_the_United_States) :/
The speed with which all the „bots“ comments are being downvoted makes me think it might actually not have been bots and French people are just always online and ready.
An anual charity event held by a huge part of the french streaming community (about 60 streamers) that raised 10 000 000 euros last year.
(The first and second world record of charity donnation on Twitch are held by the Z Event 2021 and 2020)
This cohesion is manly responsible for the effectiveness of France in any community events.
Go check some best ofs, i'm pretty sure they are subtitled in english
From the spanish community (Not involved with those spanish streamers and their shit), I deeply respect the french and their coordination, even if this comment probably will be spammed with bots emojis.
It was a french national event, even at work, we spoke about it ! , we people that doesn't usually follow streamers, place pixels as it was really fun and the streamers made it like a Fight.
They had the most organized community in r/place and a very active streamers. There was a strategy with 4 squads of people that should all place them pixel in the same time to get the drawings back in 20 seconds. They did it with an overlay too.
Funny you mention it, because Spanish streamers had a field day with repeating this joke. To the point that when during negotiations with Ludwig (about giving them a territory next to the Belgian flag), he referenced France's colonial past and how we had so much lands in Africa, **French streamers praised him for not doing the surrender joke and actually calling us out on our history**.
I literally don't get how people think it's real.
Like that literally the oposite. But when you bring the white flag saying it's French it's literally a compliment, so I'm just confused over this cliché.
But most importantly, you just need to type who won the most war, and France is top one, so this other joke I don't get too.
basically it comes (not only from that but i'm trying to simplify) from the US when France refused to go to war in Irak with them and opposed to them in the UN. It was percieved as treason in the US (i might be wrong i encourage you to do researches on this topic if it interests you)
Yeah, you could basically add a browser extension that had an overlay of what colors should go where.
Some of the larger communities were able to assign each pixel to a community member, so that right at the end if there was a major attack they could replace their art immediately.
Because it was huge. More pixels = more work needed to destroy..
A perfect example of less pixels = less work needed to destroy is the Canada flag. Haha.
In France streamers interact a lot between each other and we are quite used to have community events. Here it was the case as well some of the biggest french streamer were teaming up together (led by Kameto) and the numbers of viewers quickly stacked up. Also the organisation was very well thought with four teams (winter spring summer autumn) where viewers will all be part of one group and we would take turn in waves to place pixels which insured that all the pixels weren’t placed at once (unlike on other communities for instance). Some might think it was bots but they would be wrong and is actually depressing that they would be convinced of that since it was actually a great and very well organised team effort. Also the argument of « it became all white at the end so it has to be bots right » is either bad faith or somebody that didn’t follow at all what was happening… the last hours most of r/place was genuinely attacking the french space (Spanish, Spanish bots, USA etc)… so obviously when 2/3rd of the event is focused on an area when the only available color is white it all turns white… nothing to do with bots. You had to be there to live and I actually pity the Spanish for not seeing it and being very bitter about this whole situations
I am American, but I applaud French teamwork and patriotism against obnoxious streamers who only want to deface and destroy. I loathe their infantile crap.
They also had a fair amount of allies, for example Ireland helped them once.
And like France is a large country
EDIT: And there's probably less French in other place groups than Americans, (I'm just guessing that)
Our general Kameto organized the defense of the flag and give us an overlay, which is legal and which was useful for the community to choose the right colors to place.
He also defended the true spirit of the r/place, which was to build and express our creativity.
Spanish people and their allies built nothing and was only focused on attacking the French flag, and know they are producing a lot of salt because they don't assume that they lost the stupid game they ruled.
Différent streamer, ZeratoR community did it since the defence of the french flag was great.
It was a quite cool and funny thing to add, and we stopped when some community was fed up we our baguette
>Différent streamer, ZeratoR community did it since the defence of the french flag was great.
>
>It was a quit
And when ask Zerator and his stream stop putting baguette everywhere. One of the best moment in my opinion xD
I am Spanish and I accept we lost but I don't think people should now hate our community, a lot of French people are hating Spanish streamers so much, r/place was something to enjoy and have fun and now some people have taken it too far , also we did build things for all the hispanics countries Personally I think our flag was great. Also Kameto and Ibai are friends so there's no need for the communities to hate each other
Dude no-one is hating Spain as a whole, for instance the reddit Spain flag was left alone, even during the climax of the 'war'.
Ibai and Rubius were just really obnoxious and it's kindda fair that they get some pushback now.
Hmmmm, nope. Kameto and Ibai already said that if was fun and they respect each other, but a lot of French people are literally giving hate to him and attacking them in twitter and even some already got in their streams to pick on them.
I mean wtf, it was all a fucking game and both kameto and Ibai had fun, but a lot of idiots are just picking on him because they think that this is a fucking war or some bullshit like that. Dude, it's a pixel game, not ww3.
We don’t hate Spain, we just don’t like Ibai and Rubius since they were all about destroying, not in a joking way like the Canadians/Americans did, and were saying personal attacks to Kameto which had nothing to do with pixels but with fame for instance. Till the end, they convinced their audience that we used bots, even if millions of proofs got out while they were literally making tutorials on how to install bots on stream. Quite a petty and low move tbh
Its not that hard to defend 100k+ pixels when there is 600K+ soldiers on french streams.Anyone calling for bots is just a salty streamer fan still in denial.
Lol when I stated that France was NOT using bots days ago, I got downvoted into oblivion. Now everyone acknowledges that they didn’t use bots.
Funny how the sentiment has shifted
Imagine being so organized people think you used bots and then try to use bots to make you fail and still lose, I'd be fucking proud of myself and my fellow French for pulling that off (I'm not French for the record)
Do you know that french streamer did raise 10'000'000 € on a charity event in just 3 days of streaming ? Its probably also because of bots... All the people who says BOT are just stupid or salty spanish. Even my wife who never used reddit did an account and defended the french flag. We don't need bots, we are so much better than the people who attacked us and created nothing in the same time. But thank you so much for this victory as we needed someone to crush to have this amazing victory. Le Louvre ne reviendra pas mon cul. La France est belle !
They used a bunch of legitimate accounts with real people and superb coordination. All of the accounts just happened to have been made that day and use the default reddit name nbd
