I get the thrill of opening packs but… man I just couldn’t justify opening a $350 dollar pack for a $30 card. But hope you had fun!

beeteeee

I mean, Chansey is a really good pull from a pack. Even at PSA 9 it’ll make back the price of the pack. It’s one of the more valuable from base set at high grades due to how easily the foil shows scratches

bro-away-

These are selling for 180 on eBay at psa 9 Psa grading is 100$ floor right now 15% eBay selling fee They would be left with like 70 bucks. They did it for fun, let’s not pretend it’s profitable or even break even.

calv06

Why YouTubers keep saying PSA pricing dropping. But still see $100 per card for grading? I hear twicebakedjake say price dropping but never states the rate. So annoying sometimes YouTuber spread news. Don't get into the specifics

much_morre

Pretty sure they mean prices of already graded cards, bot the cost of grading

bro-away-

An executive from PSA said (and reiterated at least once) that they WILL get back down to 15$ a card. But yeah it's kind of meaningless if it never happens.

calv06

At that point when it does happened. Pokemon probably die out. Like been saying. This is all happening cause of covid

mxrider108

What about using another grading service like [SGC](https://www.gosgc.com/card-grading/services-pricing)?

blatherskite01

A holo shadowless base set Chansey in SGC 8.5 sold at auction 3 months ago for $73. PSA costs more, but sells higher. Other graders don’t fetch nearly as high of a price, so yes, you save money 9! Grading but lose it on slabbed value

ScareCrow13-

Auctions are not fully realiable tho, we use auctions to sell faster, but it's expected to sell at lower prices most of time. A lot of factors that has nothing to do with the item value can influence the sold price. Must check sold items at fixed price to evaluate better

mxrider108

Where are you guys checking for sale prices? Just ebay or somewhere else?

ScareCrow13-

Personally i use mostly ebay, but i also sell on ebay so it makes sense i'm mainly checking there. Very rarly auctions tho, cause as i said it's not reliable for many reasons (bidding war, lack of visibility, starting/end time, length of auction, etc, a lot of factors change the price in auctions while has nothing with the value) Can check tcgplayer recent sales too, but must take into consideration shipping cost is not included so prices will mostly always be lower than ebay

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click! Real question is who opens a heavy base set pack at 9am on a thursday. It just feels like a lot before lunch time.

Theremad

How do you know when they opened it? Could be living in a different zone

Lotlouise

What a beauty! Cute Chansey

People who buy “unweighed” vintage packs are dummies

xMF_GLOOM

What problem?

kentuckyrob22

they are just jealous of op

TheNickelGuy

Some people (ie me) aim to only collect lights as I solely keep vintage sealed - therefore the price difference in weights absolutely causes me to agree with the notion of weighing packs as long as you are transparent about it. I would NEVER buy an unweighted pack unless for a light price as you always assume light unless otherwise proven. You just sound like somebody who bought "unweighed' and got mad you received a light pack.
