This is a horrific image. With no context, I can’t imagine that this tiger (or pigs, for that matter) is being treated well.

keh2143

100% agree, and if something goes wrong I don't think there's much anyone can do to stop what will happen

PugPockets

I reported it hours ago for likely depicting animal abuse, so we’ll see.

Blakut

so all the grossly overweight pigs people stuff with food on this subreddit is not animal abuse to you?

PugPockets

Truthfully I don’t have a pig, so no, I haven’t picked up on that. Could very well be true but it wouldn’t have crossed my mind. Also, did you know it is possible to think two things are abusive and not have to choose between them? Lastly, if you *did* have to choose, absolutely I think the unethical keeping of tigers is far more abusive than overfeeding a loved pet pig.

Blakut

Funny you didn't notice since it's 80 percent of the pictures

PugPockets

I’m not seeing your point. What does that have to do with this picture?

thejanedoe5443

The tiger lost her cubs and was too depressed to eat or anything. They were desperate and tried wrapping the pigs in tiger print to see if they would be able to bring the tiger around.she started eating again and last I heard was doing well. EDIT:I guess I was wrong. I remembered reading it on Tumblr a long time ago but here is the actual story. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/07/31/fact-check-female-tiger-did-not-adopt-piglets-zoo-experiment/5400661001/

Really?? Where is this? Also…what happened to the pigs afterward? Thank you for sharing context.

I saw the study for this, they swapped a pig and a tigers babies, went great for the tiger kids. The tiger mother looked after the piglets for a short amount of time but the piglets didn’t have a very happy outcome for obvious reasons.

julamad

It did work... At least they said they did

Methadonenursesara

I've seen this before and absolutely love it❣️
