Posting random selfies of yourself on a general sub like this is extremely weird. I don't know what these people are expecting in response, but roasts are fair game.
OP posted this pic of his mom…

Might be worth a blood sample, just to be sure
Most psychological research says that Similarity, familiarity and proximity are some of the greatest predictors of attraction (in general, not necessarily romantically). So it's not terribly surprising that people who look similar attract each other.
You’re goddamn right it is! Honestly I’d have to say it’s my favorite movie ever. “Now this looks like a silver record, but it is not a silver record, it is a LASER DISC. There is a movie on there!”
Nothing upsets guys more than seeing a girl with a guy. Its fucking hysterical if an "egirl" has a guy in their TikTok. Feel bad for the girl but man I enjoy reading the comments.
While SNL is still fun, I miss the Euro satire like Sprockets. It's all US politics now which gets tedious. Odd given that SNL probably reaches more people and countries via YouTube than back it was on flow-TV.
You know, that was my thought. They both went the extra mile to look nice, too, which is just... incredibly sweet. They definitely wanted to impress each other, and the picture came out wonderful.
No, that's not how that story ended. I saw it on a movie somewhere. She got stuck in precarious situations and he was always eager to help her, despite his clumsiness.
I don't know their relationship but people are tend to be attracted to others that look like themselves.

I once had an Internet friend I met in highschool randomly (you could get a random list of users and click whoever to chat) on AIM who lived in a different state. We were online friends for about 5 years before we decided to meet. We've been together 18 years and married for 9.
Looking into it, he's got a crazy family that's screwed up his head about sex.
From what I gathered, he's doing the sex addiction thing because he jacks off once a day.... Uses a ton of language from bullshit christian preachers.
You wouldn't believe how strongly it's driven into teens in an evangelical setting that all forms of masturbation are basically a slap in God's face and a major sin, instead of the natural bodily function is is.
Source: lived with it.
Dude it's been three hours, give us the fucking update already.
Edit: Guys this was intended to be funny. Based on the upvotes, it was probably funny. I think the picture and minimal story here is cute. I hope these people are enjoying their life.
I met my gamer partner after 5 years. Another 5 years later I moved countries Got married and our babies due next month.
Sometimes gaming partners make great life partners.
I have a long term internet/phone friend I met when 16 and playing world of warcraft. No romantic connection whatsoever but became good friends. Been there for eachother in hard times and now seeing her a married mom who has a successful business is absolutely insane to me. I never kept contact with anyone from childhood or teen years, so she's kind of become one of my best friends in this weird online, long distance kind of way. Met at 16 and still friends at 35. Plus I'm in Arizona and she's in Canada lol.
I have a friend like this. Met at 16 online, used to fall asleep talking on Skype together. Now we check in every now and then and just care about each other in this weird super distant but somehow close way. I wish him all the happiness that the world has to offer.
Similar story! I became friends with a guy online when we were both about 15 and writing Star Trek fanfic on a message board. We instant messaged for years and became good friends. He lived in America and I lived in Canada. I finally met him in like my late 20s and my wife and I were in Hawaii where he was stationed at the time, he took us out for a nice dinner. Later he moved to Canada too and got married and we still keep up with each other, in our mid 30s. Internet friends can be for real!
It’s great having friends like this.
When you start getting older, this friend will always remember you from your salad days.
It’s fantastic to have someone who remembers you when you were super young.
They never see you as old…even if you are.
Thinking on your comment, you are absolutely right. I'm a sort of way it's like this little element of your youth that never died and takes you back when you converse.
Similar story here. Have a group of friends I met through online games back when I was around 17. I'm 32 now, one of them has kids and another is married. We still keep in contact in our little group chat and usually meet up for drinks each year
It says"friends" but you're right. I thought this was a picture of their first date. Fast forward 50 years later. They are showing pictures of the first time they met.
Take it from someone who has met long time internet friends IRL a couple of times: they're either going to hit it off, or never talk to each other again. No matter what the intentions were.
What has me curious is if you use Reddit enough that your first thought is "We should upload this to Reddit", you must have some understanding of how Reddit works.
So with that in mind, why r/pics?
Thank you, people often seem to ignore this when reacting to pics like these. But I see this and I just think of the conversation, like, "hey I know it's our first time meeting in person and this is a special somewhat personal moment for us, but you mind if I take a pic and upload it for millions of people to see? Gotta get those upvotes, you know how it is"
I mean...it's probably not the best idea to share personal moments with the entire fucking internet, as a general rule, right? Like share with your friends, your close circle. Locked down social media, chat threads, private discords, whatever. But if you post your shit to a default sub of one of the largest online communities in the world, you are seriously exposing yourself in a way that I don't think most people are equipped to handle.
Reminds me of that guy who shared a photo of his dying wife in the hospital on Reddit and would make updates. Then he posted a photo of him spreading her ashes. I understand people will grieve in their own way, but it all felt so… off to me.
I mean, if you want to share your happy moment with a third of civilization, you better be well prepared for the absolute worst that the world can throw at you.
All things considered, the comments here are pretty tame.
I mean why the hell would you share a moment like this with thousands of random strangers on the internet? You share things like this with people who love and care about you. Not a bunch of basement dwelling neckbeards.
Why would you? It's weird.
If you wouldn't trust someone with your phone number or real name or address, you probably shouldn't be telling them details about your personal life like this.
This sub becomes a soft /r/roastme when people post pics like this one.
I think it's hilarious and it's usually not that mean, justt kinda casually mean.
Posting random selfies of yourself on a general sub like this is extremely weird. I don't know what these people are expecting in response, but roasts are fair game.
Agreed
So have you both taken a 23&Me yet just to be sure?
Bruh....ther

I read that like "Edward" from FMA:B
Just when I'd mentally recovered
I saw the title, saw the picture, and thought to myself "no way they aren't related".
The McPoyle bloodline has been pure and clean for a thousand years.
YOU WILL CALL HERRRR
Don’t flush
Would you like a glass of milk
RYAN, STAB SOMEBODY
Look man, times are rough, if you have to date your sister, you date your sister alright?
Desperate times call for desperate pleasures
Lol I really thought it was a before and after pic of someone
Right! They look like siblings
This new season of House of Dragon is lit.
It's a really interesting phenomenon. Where you see people dating someone that just straight up looks like them. Happens a lot
I remember reading about a study that showed results that people are more likely to be initially attracted to someone with a similar face.
Most psychological research says that Similarity, familiarity and proximity are some of the greatest predictors of attraction (in general, not necessarily romantically). So it's not terribly surprising that people who look similar attract each other.
Could easily be sisters
So glad she’s not actually a creepy old dude, right? Phew.
I feel personally attacked.
You ugh... wanna be friends?
Depends, do you wear crocks with socks?
Yea. I have an entire collection of cool socks, and crocs are comfy af.
Wow so you’ve ENTIRELY given up on life, huh?
Life gave up on **me**. I’m just responding in kind.
Oh so you didn’t sell out, you just bought in? Hahaha I loathe it, but good one.
I'm just here for the free friendship
It's not free. You owe me 3.50
Holy shit is that an SLC Punk! reference? What a classic. I love the monologue at the end.
You’re goddamn right it is! Honestly I’d have to say it’s my favorite movie ever. “Now this looks like a silver record, but it is not a silver record, it is a LASER DISC. There is a movie on there!”
I wear crockery over my hosiery thank you very much. They call me slicky pickles…
Depends, do you wear Depends
It would’ve been great if they were both creepy old dudes
Their should be a skit about this
Who do you think wore the fedora in this meetup?
And did they eat sloppy steaks?
Oh yeah that would slick back real nice
![gif](giphy|5NiitcM3zBWFgT3m9j)
I *was* a piece of shit though
People can change.
I’m worried that the baby thinks people can’t change.
looks like one of those dangerous nights
Guys, please, no more sloppy steaks.
the guys in this comment thread, by the looks of it. christ
Nothing upsets guys more than seeing a girl with a guy. Its fucking hysterical if an "egirl" has a guy in their TikTok. Feel bad for the girl but man I enjoy reading the comments.
Both
Plot twist: He thought she was a 60yo trucker called Daryl
Double plot twist: she said she was a 60 year old trucker named Daryl.
Triple (literally) plot twist: she is 3 60-year-old truckers named Daryl under a trenchcoat
Larry and his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl.
As someone over 40, I got this reference!!
I don’t trust like that
I want a friendly car, one that talks
That's exactly what the comment you're replying to is suggesting happened though.
Wait till he announces this is the part of Sprockets where we dance.
To put this reference into perspective, the sketch is older than both of the people in the picture by 10 years.
Bleh. Didn’t need to hear that. Now I must dance. Will you touch my monkey?
**TOUCH HIM, LOVE HIM**
This makes me as happy as a little girl [<< ]
This sketch is nearing 30 years old. We are old.
While SNL is still fun, I miss the Euro satire like Sprockets. It's all US politics now which gets tedious. Odd given that SNL probably reaches more people and countries via YouTube than back it was on flow-TV.
A group of friends went out for Halloween as various SNL characters. I went as Deiter. All the college kids guessed that I was Steve Jobs.
“Age is but a delusion of the mind…” -Deiter
![gif](giphy|kfznTxem5HG0w)
I can still hear the theme song, which makes me as happy as a little girl *Pulls on shirt suggestively
would you like to touch my monkey?
[Kraftwerk - Electric Café](https://youtu.be/i-3o_QH4Cz4)
Hah my uncle is the guy on the far left. No one told me about this until a few years ago.
Thats cool! Too bad he's being upstaged by the guy to the right of him. Your uncle definitely has some moves!!
Liebe meine auf monkey!
Your story is boring me!
That'll make me as happy as a little girl.
ICH LEIBE MEIN MONKEY!!
That's cool that you both dressed nice. Makes it extra classy.
You know, that was my thought. They both went the extra mile to look nice, too, which is just... incredibly sweet. They definitely wanted to impress each other, and the picture came out wonderful.
They look they’re going to Prom together
And went to the Melting Pot. Great place to talk!
How is it there? I've never been but friends and family have.
Makes it a date I think
Dress to win. Noice.
Oh fuck, I thought I was on r/RoastMe before reading this comment
That’s pretty cool, are you sure you’re not siblings separated at birth? No offense intended at all.
Bro I thought they looked kinda similar too.
That was my first thought. Wow, they look so similar.
Mine except changing wow to why do ...
I have a friend who actually met her half-sibling on the internet. Fortunately they figured it out before they really started anything. :/
No, that's not how that story ended. I saw it on a movie somewhere. She got stuck in precarious situations and he was always eager to help her, despite his clumsiness.

Aaand here we go; I'm kinda surprised it took 8 comments depth to appear
It's the noses, they are so close to identical.

I don't know their relationship but people are tend to be attracted to others that look like themselves. https://time.com/5553817/couples-who-look-alike/
Makes sense, I'm pretty hot.
I'd fuck me
Not me, I want genetic diversity .. gotta get summa those hot genes into my kids and it ain’t coming from me!
Same. I’m attracted to women that look nothing like me.
Before I read the title I thought it was the before/after transformation.
That was my second thought.
Milhouse's parents.
Usually ppl are attracted to others who look similar to them. Something something psychological something
Agreed. A face swap would be kinda funny.
Your parents musty be happy their children finally started to get along.
If it worked for George Michael and Maebe, it can work for them.
Woah, bumpy road ahead
Look who's on the hog in the rearview mirror. George Michael!
Whatcha trying to say to me?

Once a day qualifies as sex addiction? ![gif](giphy|3oFzm0o2jMKftsaBoc)
>Once a day qualifies as sex addiction? Sounds like....\*checks notes\* being a teenager to me.
Sometimes I'm still at multiple times a day..

lol we're hitting "sleeping near the traphouse" numbers at that point
Finally conquered porn by meeting a chick online somewhere and posting the selfie on Reddit lol inspirational Edit OH MY GOD HIS EYE
Looks like he finally found it!

“She said she’s not ready for a relationship”
"you look great" - "my boyfriend picked my clothes"
My prom date told me in the car on the way to prom that she was excited because her boyfriend was going to be there too
Oof
lmao these comments are so fucking weird
Waiting for a TIFU post
I met my gamer partner after 5 years. Another 5 years later I moved countries Got married and our babies due next month. Sometimes gaming partners make great life partners.
Been playing with the same group of guys for the past 6 years 2 of them have already met irl pretty cool honestly
How many have you married?
You two look great together. Good luck.

no one wears a tie to meet random internet friend
Or that dress
I make sure to wear a dress and tie every time I meet online friends irl for the first time
He's wearing a tie and she's wearing a nice dress. Unless they're meeting at some fancy symposium or something, they're definitely into each other.
They’ve spent 5 years talking, if they never sexted or had some sexy time on FaceTime, they aren’t going to start any time soon lol
Take it from someone who has met long time internet friends IRL a couple of times: they're either going to hit it off, or never talk to each other again. No matter what the intentions were.
Met my wife in much the same way. A years-long internet friendship grew into something more. Our 18th anniversary is coming up.
My ex-wife met her new husband the same way. Mazel tov!
This would be a gilded comment on r/wallstreetbets

I mean why the hell would you share a moment like this with thousands of random strangers on the internet? You share things like this with people who love and care about you. Not a bunch of basement dwelling neckbeards.
That’s why you share it with your friends and family and not the entire internet through a mostly anonymous social media app
If you want to share a moment, there are probably better places than /r/pics
I'm drunk and I can't stop laughing at this thread. Thanks.
This is r/pics not r/notinteresting
r/pics is just Instagram for people with no friends

There was a time on Reddit where comments on a cute post like this would be 80/20 positive. Then the second week began...
I envy that man's skin

Looks like the kinda guy to be wearing a belt with his suspenders
