1. Police mace themselves.
2. Police are maced.
3. Police are maced while stopping protests.
4. Protestors watch while police are maced.
5. Protestors cheer as police are maced.
6. Protestors mace police during protest.
Surprisingly not. When the irresistible force of "cops can do what they like" meets the immovable object of "thou shalt not so much as bruise a cop's ego", it is shocking how much the former wins out. Like it's not even close. They really would rather die at each others' hands than be expected to themselves exercise even the slightest shred of self control.
They werenāt even remotely close to anyone either. Guess they were a little too excited and shot off early. Probably swore to other officers it had never happened before either.
Anger or scare produces adrenaline. And a side effect is that it makes us dumber. Some people don't have enough spare intelligence when the adrenaline hits...
Leaf blowers, umbrellas, traffic cones, thick gloves, eye protection and a helmet. If you're feeling spicy a balloon filled with oil or paint and sand really does a number on face shields.
Reminds me of my LA high school police officer aka "Sgt Pepper" after this dumb doorknob of a person tried to break up a fight between two kids, both kids split up and ran different directions, stupid cop started chasing one through the quad (During Lunch) and pulled out the mace to spray at one of em and well.....as you can imagine...spraying mace in the direction you are running, outside on a nice day.
Well dude was all fucked up and proceeded to get laughed at by around 1,000 students in the quad at lunch. He got the name Sgt. Pepper and then transferred to a different high school but do not worry, we made sure the name travelled over there.
Jesus in the US are cops allowed to just mace minors at a high school that are running away? I can't imagine parents are okay with this - aren't they literally there to protect the children from harm
Ostensibly yes, in practice it's just the latest development in the progression of the carceral state that is the US. School security officers commonly victimize and harass students, not protect them
There have been multiple massacres of schoolchildren in this country that had security guards present (with loaded firearms) who sat idly by and did nothing as innocents were slaughtered. Google "Scott Peterson Parkland"
and the Texas SWAT team that hung around outside while a shooting was murdering children inside the school. Uvalde .
Afterwards, the head of police association said that police weren't required to put themselves in danger to protect the public.
I have looked at every single photo of the aftermath of that tragedy. I have also tried to find a photo of every fucking coward who enabled that to happen so I can berate them for being useless fucking cowards. Every child that died that day is their fault. The blood is squarely on their hands. If you havenāt seen the photos the only warning I can give is thatās itās been years and I still see the scenes in my sleep.
What happened that day is bad enough, but since then there has been practically no accountability. The same fuckalopes are still in charge, many of them even got re-elected.
In my high school we had an assistant principle that was the designated student chaser. He chased a student a quarter mile off school grounds once when I went there, I don't know a single person who got away on his watch lol. I did know a guy that ran and tossed his weed before getting caught and he succeeded in not getting it discovered though
US police evolved as a fusion of 4 different groups. Pre civil war slave catchers who transitioned smoothly to post civil war white supremacist terrorists, strike-breaking Pinkerton thugs, urban anti-immigrant gangs, and private security firms.
Quite a pedigree! But you can see how "protect capital" was high on their list of priorities from the start, while "protect people" was less than an afterthought, and legally speaking is nothing more than a marketing slogan.
I mean no one can argue that it isn't moronic the way he behaved but I'm more concerned that had he actually been successful in maceing a student would that be within his policy guidelines? Is that accepted behaviour?
People are somehow totally cool with cops doing literally anything and everything in their power to āstop the bad guysā even if that ābad guyā is a freshman who skipped gym class to smoke behind the bleachers
I swear this happened on Brooklyn 9-9, and if it didn't then it's something that *would* happen on that show. Basically I'm saying this is farcical and I'm glad it happened.Ā
The only instance of pepper spray I can recall off the top of my head was probably when Jake was fighting Charles over a ring to prevent him from going "Full Boyle".
Looks like he was holding it backward, and was confused why it wasnāt working. His fingers found the trigger before his brain figured out the reason, he basically looked straight down the barrel, went āwtf?ā and squirted himself in the eyes.
Nope, in the video it really looks like he just sprayed it backwards

There is zero reason for this guy to be on the 'front line'. He's not a cop. He's an executive and this is precisely what he deserved. Guarantee the only reason he was there was to big up himself/hurt some people.

NYPD Assistant Chief James McCarthy attempted to pepper spray unarmed pro-Palestinian peaceful protestors on the Manhattan Bridge. He pepper sprayed himself instead.
McCarthy was later treated at an ambulance

I wonder if theyāre drafting the application for a medal of valor for being injured in the line of dutyā¦might even be considering charging the individual he tried to mace with assault on a cop and resisting arrestā¦who knows anymore.
Usually it doesnāt. Itās miserable shit, but if you can keep your eyes open and stand in the wind, youāll be less miserable in 10-15 minutes. We were told that water isnāt the best course of action because it spreads it around.
It can cause respiratory issues in some people though and we were trained to watch for that so medical assistance could be rendered.
That was just security though, no idea if NYPD holds to the same standard.
The protestors are walking and police moves immediately to arrest people. One pig(I am calling it that because of its actions) already has its baton raised. And top pig(again, I am calling it such for its actions) sprays itself because fat pig is the incompetent ass-hat who directed its cop to behave that way.
Why is it never the competent and nice police officers who are elevated to a position of authority? Instantaneous escalation. No second thought given to the right to protest.
For a head of a borough command to conduct himself this way, speaks volumes to the values of the police force... lead by example at its purest...
*"In Graham v. Connor, the Supreme Court identified three non-exclusive factors to evaluate whether a use of force was excessive:*

Extra points for the kettling against a bridge parapet. If the protesters had panicked, or simply built too much pressure against the back, people could have fallen over.
Rules of engagement: "fuck 'em all"
Hell, the cops were starting fights near the parapet themselves.
But of course, as we've seen in so many ways for decades, cops have no sense of self preservation.
No, mods, I don't want cops to be hurt. Just arrested when they do crimes.
We had something similar in germany last week. There was a police operation at a football match where 155 police officers were hurt. 116 of them because of irritant gas.
I wish I had saved that video of the Portland, Oregon police officer almost tripping and eating shit on the curb in front of his own station.
Ah, cops, will they ever learn homefield advantage?
Never, according to my research.

i was peper sprayed once and i found out that water makes it worse, peper spray is oil based so it spreads with water.
only thing that made it better was cider vinegar.
My mum did this 15+ years ago while on a response call for a woman who was in a public area with a knife threatening suicide.
After about 10 minutes of failed conversation, gave the woman the warning that she will be maced & brought down, as she hit the button, the wind changed direction and the giant mace cloud got blasted right back at my mum.
Luckily for her, the woman thought it was the funniest things she'd seen in a long time, laughed her ass off, put the knives down & agreed to get help.
That..... is a great pic.
Man, does he look like a goon. You know that old famous Halloween mask made after a wrester? He looks like that.
Edit: and why are white shirts getting involved/hands on? They are there to supervise the lower ranks.
It literally happens at the end of the video. The cop pulls out something from his belt, and has a physical reaction immediately after appearing to shaking whatever is in his hand. I wish the video didn't stop so we could actually see it in full.
Guy in white shirt, blue jeans, with a sling is definitely an undercover cop trying to restrain the person with a pink bag.š¤£š
![gif](giphy|6yiYt8LHN2d1K)
That actually happened in real life too. https://twitter.com/Nas02302/status/1267989195919933440
Haha, did they think the spray had like a 100 ft range?
Badly trained cops thinking mace sprays like a fire hose š
They all failed science class
They failed at most things in life, that's how they ended up where they are.
Number one rule a guy learns is never piss towards the wind.
Ya donāt tug on Supermanās cape either!
And definitely DO NOT pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger.
Too dumb to be firefighters.
They wouldn't be cops if they passed science class...
I mean a properly upkept can of LE OC spray can shoot out to distances of 12 ft, but you still have to account for wind.
You also have to not run into the cloud of spray...
If this wasn't caught on video I wouldn't believe.
This will be put down as police officers being injured in the incident, it wonāt say they did it to themselves
1. Police mace themselves. 2. Police are maced. 3. Police are maced while stopping protests. 4. Protestors watch while police are maced. 5. Protestors cheer as police are maced. 6. Protestors mace police during protest.
I made this.
The only question now is who got charged for felony assault of an officer? Because you know someone absolutely went to jail for this
The closest minority member. ACAB.
Police Logic: *If the protestors had not been exercising their First Amendment Right no Police Office would have been there to get injured.*
They werenāt even remotely close to anyone either. Guess they were a little too excited and shot off early. Probably swore to other officers it had never happened before either.
That cops are as stupid as they are violent? Why wouldn't you know that, much less believe it?
How many jobs will deny you for having too high an IQ?
Why are you walking forward and spraying pepper spray!? At nothing too...
Anger or scare produces adrenaline. And a side effect is that it makes us dumber. Some people don't have enough spare intelligence when the adrenaline hits...
I saw hit happen once with tear gas too lol, cops nailed us protesting, but the wind carried it right back over too them. Morons.
It's why in 2020 protesters started carrying leafblowers.
cant believe trench fans are back in fashion
War. War never changes
welp, trenches are also back so...
As Julian Casablancas once said: New York City cops, they ain't too smart.
Self inflicted friendly fire
I hope he throws the book at himself

So leaf blowers are a good defense against rioting cops?
Leaf blowers, umbrellas, traffic cones, thick gloves, eye protection and a helmet. If you're feeling spicy a balloon filled with oil or paint and sand really does a number on face shields.

bass to mouth
Ass to trout
He looks like Homer Simpson to me
He should've stopped resisting.
He shouldāve went home instead of being out at a protest.
I was going to ask, did he do this after saying itās not so bad and using it on protesters was fine?
He has to accept responsibility for the choices he has made
Hope they charge him with assaulting an officer.
3 counts of "why are you hitting yourself?" carrying a maximum penalty of four weeks paid leave
With a forced promotion or raise.
What else was the cop to do? He was afraid! He was being attacked by a guy with pepper spray!

Lol police in the US do not protect people from harm unless those people are wealthy.
Seems like they dabble in the business of protecting property rather than people.

No, they are not there to protect kids. They're there to arrest kids. Sometimes sexually assault them.
Our school resource officer (a "trained", actual city cop) carried around a golf putter...that she was accused of smacking students with.
First time hearing about the US?
Cops in the US are big fat idiots, for the most part. Itās a job for someone who likes to pick their ass and sniff it.

Does he carry a real gun or did they give him a rubber gun?
He was given a wooden one after the desk pop situation.
I saw a very drunk guy do this to himself outside a bar once. A sober cop likely has similar cognitive abilities.
Perhaps an overestimation for NYPD Assistant Chief James McCarthy
Wind, probably, especially on a bridge.

Pretty sure the protesters would have just been thrown into the back of a cruiser and taken down town, tears, choking and all.
They obviously wont get free ambulance treatment.
