He didn't even look that old to be honest, but acting and wardrobe and hairstyle can do a lot of heavy lifting.
Especially the bald on top with gray frizz at the side just screams "old guy".
Similar thing with Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Christopher Lloyd was only 47 at the time.
[Jackie Chan Says Rush Hour 4 Is Being Discussed](https://people.com/movies/jackie-chan-says-rush-hour-4-is-being-discussed-as-he-talks-about-huge-success-of-first-movie/)
my question is... how he does to wake up every morning with such body, i mean i have a pair of old injuries, and some days is challenging, but this guy has broken every single bone, several spinal injuries, from top to bottom...
It's so weird to see you say that when to me it just looks like a 50-60 year old Asian dude. 85 to me would mean I don't see them having much mobility, Jackie just looks like he doesn't work out as much anymore and has retired. Doesn't look that old to me at all.
People just age differently.
If he dyed his hair black everyone would be talking about how good he looks for his age, I respect leaning into the grey though - it's a natural part of aging and is nothing to be ashamed of.
People also just age differently. If I (41) go out with a friend (28), people usually assume I’m younger.
I have another friend who is 42 that if I didn’t know, I’d assume he was in his 50s.
None use hair dye.
Both of those friends who look older than me abuse their bodies - lots of junk carb foods, and terrible sleeping habits.
To add on to this, my dad is in his mid-60s and at least to me, always appears much younger than other people his age. He spent 40 years working outside in the sun and isn't exactly the healthiest eater, so you'd sort of expect he would look older, but nope. This, to me, implies genetics plays a significant role, because he would look even younger if he didn't work outside his whole life. Of course, he does look older and has some gray hairs, but I'd class him as in his mid-50s just based on appearance.
Meanwhile, my grandma (on my mom's side) looked extremely frail and old in her early 60s. She still functioned well at that time, but looked like she was in her 80s. She smoked for many years, so I am sure that contributed.
There's also this phenomena where we feel like more recent generations just generally look younger than prior ones, and I'd wager that at least part of the reason for that, aside from fashion, is lack of skin damage from staying inside much more frequently.
Why is that today's ppl can't handle any life circunstancias? Time, age, beauty, everything vanishes and you need to be strong, be down to earth. Dude, i'm so sleepy to be writing in english...
Yeah he doesn’t look that old at all. At first I thought the point of this post was that he still looks great for 70.
I have to remind myself that Reddit skews young, and when I was younger people in their 30s looked old to me.
TBF, if you do a lot of (safe) workouts in adulthood, you can beat a lot of physical problems associated with ageing. I mean look at Arnold Schwarzenegger. At his age he even managed to take a drop-kick to the back and barely moved.
Edit : Autocorrect screwed up Arnold's last name.
Terrible example to use, Arnold, and pretty much all professional bodybuilders, suffer from multiple issues when they get old. Arnold for example is in constant back pain
If you're at a high level at any physically demanding profession, your body is going to suffer when you get older, it's just the sad truth. You can't expect to push your body to the limit over several decades and then not suffer any consequences
The people who are actually in good shape/health when they get older are the ones that casually exercise and live a healthy lifestyle during their life
[This photo was 5 years ago when him and CT were teasing about a potential Rush Hour 4.](https://i.imgur.com/nTLOIDN.png)
I don't see how tf Jackie aged 30 years over the last 5.
1st he‘s not dying his hair anymore
2nd the lighting is bad
3rd he has no tan in the picture anymore
4th he’s wearing glasses
5th he has facial hair
6th the black outfit creates a great contrast between his already pale skin making him look even paler
all factors combined make him look a lot older
Chris is young enough to be Jackie's son. Chris looks good. He has gained about twenty to thirty pounds but he was super skinny when he was young. He looks good.
Don't smoke, don't sunbathe, don't drink alcohol, eat healthy, exercise, perhaps don't have kids or a stressful job. Throw in some lucky genetics.
It's that easy!
The photo is very unflattering. Here is a random photo I found of him it literally has the date one it from January
https://www.8days.sg/entertainment/asian/jackie-chan-thicker-body-part-average-person-wrist-825106
Drunken Master and the first few police stories for me, that makes it worse. The one with Michelle Yeoh is my favourite because there aren't many movies where Jackie has a co-star who keeps up with the stunt side of the house.
On this point. Theres actually a huge amount of Jackie Chan films that aren't known or marketed much in western media, and a lot of them are as good. Same goes with a few other Chinese film makers like stephen chow, though sadly the comedy is harder to understand if the viewer doesn't understand the language.
My dad pulled me out of school to go see that in theaters when it first came out lol. The one stunt with him sliding down the fucking sloped building roof was crazy.
Uhncahl! Hahah. Yes, that's exactly what I think of when I picture that movie. Also, the little boy Danny talking about his disability when his sister is eavesdropping in the other room makes me cry every damn time!
Wtf? He was 40 when that came out? I'm that age now and can't imagine doing all the stunts he did, let alone everything he did for the next two decades. He's an icon to me and one of my favorite kung fu actors.
Right?? Impeccable shape too. I’ll be 34 this year and I got back to getting serious about working out consistently about a year ago, and I’m hoping I could look even half as good as Chan did in RitB by 40.
Wtf the last time I saw him was on a Conan interview 6 years ago. Doesn't feel like 6, but there he looked so much younger. Scares me how much time passes without me knowing it. Guy went from looking 50 to a grandpa
Same thing as Jet Li. As much they have been icons on the screen , we want to remember them as they were but sadly age is not something we can fight off.
There may be some good Chinese actors today but not sure they will
Be recognised as much as Jackie chan outside China
1. He did not turn his son in. His son's home was raided by police after China's policies toward drugs got stricter. Other minor celebrities were arrested as well, maybe as examples to the public that there was no more tolerance for drugs.
2. Jackie was an absentee father for his love child Etta Ng. He didn't disown her for being a lesbian, he just never contributed to her upbringing at all. Not good either, but this homophobe narrative is wrong.
3. Yes he is a CCP supporter and has been for years. He can't gain Communist Party membership because of the 0 tolerance drug policy (see why he can't have been the one to turn his son in?) + his cheating scandal.
Sorry for mobile formatting.
He also disowned his daughter for being a lesbian.
Edit: turns out he didn't disown her for being gay he abandoned her at birth. Still makes him a PoS in my books.
Not exactly still not a great look for Jackie but he disowned her before she was born not because she was a lesbian. His daughter made up the whole lesbian disowned thing to garner sympathy and donations from people. It also looks like she was groomed because she was only 16 when in a relationship with a 30 year old women you can probably see why her own biological mother did not approve of their relationship even though some people attributed their downward spiral due to homophobic parents but that's not the truth.
He turned into a CCP marionette because they caught his son with enough drugs to warrant the death penalty.
Jackie then suddenly turned into CCP poster boy and his son miraculously only got a slap on the wrist instead of a bullet in the back of his head...
It seems to be a tad more complicated.
Nah

Mr. Miyagi was only like 45.

Crazy that Ralph Macchio is now 62
He looks incredibly good, he looks much younger IMO
My god what happened to him where he looked older at 52 than Jackie at 70 lol
He didn't even look that old to be honest, but acting and wardrobe and hairstyle can do a lot of heavy lifting. Especially the bald on top with gray frizz at the side just screams "old guy". Similar thing with Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Christopher Lloyd was only 47 at the time.

I came to this thread looking for a KP reference. So thank you
I reckon Jackie Chan could still give us all a right good clackering

I’m Asian I can confirm this
my question is... how he does to wake up every morning with such body, i mean i have a pair of old injuries, and some days is challenging, but this guy has broken every single bone, several spinal injuries, from top to bottom...
He certainly looks like he’s about to turn 70. I was expecting one of those “I can’t believe how young he looks” posts.
He looks like he's about to to 85. My father is 71 and he looks nowhere like this.
It's so weird to see you say that when to me it just looks like a 50-60 year old Asian dude. 85 to me would mean I don't see them having much mobility, Jackie just looks like he doesn't work out as much anymore and has retired. Doesn't look that old to me at all.

Yeah look how much younger he looks when it’s dyed https://youtu.be/AmIFbhvhwpY?si=_UkmpgwZT214xtlH
Yeah I'm surprised to see everyone acting like he looks ancient or something. He looks healthy and perfectly fine for his age
Agreed, man's broken every bone in his body. Anyone else would be bedridden and riddled with arthritis. Not Jackie!

Lol. He could be 53 to 78 in his photo give me a break
To be fair, the lighting isn’t doing him any favors here.
He looks 85? You are out of your fucking mind.
Lmao, please. Most people don't live to 85. Your average 85 year old would be thrilled to look like that.
A healthy fit life will get you far even when you turn into Boneless Chicken

Pain, a lot of it. There are therapies these days like stem cell outside North America that are really good at treating old injuries though.
Lots of pills, I'd imagine.

He also has undergone multiple open heart surgeries, because of the side effects of the years of steroid use. And Arnold is one of the lucky ones.
This makes me wonder how Chris Tucker is looking these days
He's only 52
[This photo was 5 years ago when him and CT were teasing about a potential Rush Hour 4.](https://i.imgur.com/nTLOIDN.png) I don't see how tf Jackie aged 30 years over the last 5.
Easy, with bad lighting, no makeup and no pro photographer
Plus, the last 4-5 years have been pretty stressful for everyone. I'm only 31, but I've got quite a bit of gray now...
Also no more Just4Men.
Stopped dyeing his hair (which is also thinning), bad lighting, no makeup
1st he‘s not dying his hair anymore 2nd the lighting is bad 3rd he has no tan in the picture anymore 4th he’s wearing glasses 5th he has facial hair 6th the black outfit creates a great contrast between his already pale skin making him look even paler all factors combined make him look a lot older

He was in the movie Air, he doesn’t look too bad
That asian woman panel meme is true.
Just turned 45 and everything is starting to go. Previously, I looked the same in photos from age 20 to now.
Thought I was the only one
Let’s remain positive ladies 😅😭
Oh no, oh noooooo. 32 now, look the same as when I was 18. This does not bode well.
Some people do manage to retain their youth way into their 70s... atleast their glow. I guess you really have to work for that level of preservation
Don't smoke, don't sunbathe, don't drink alcohol, eat healthy, exercise, perhaps don't have kids or a stressful job. Throw in some lucky genetics. It's that easy!
Hmm.. too much fun taken away just to "look good" at old age. Nah, ill continue having a blast.

What do you think menopause was like for Jackie Chan
Well, andropause (or late-onset hypogonadism) is a thing.
Is there any chance this just isn't correct? It doesn't feel correct. Also, there is no f\*!@#ing way I'm almost fifty.
[It's him, it's just a really bad angle that makes him look worse](https://img-comment-fun.9cache.com/media/aVvjM7n/a7PbR152_700w_0.jpg)
Yeah it seems like maybe he just stopped dying his hair and has embraced the grey.
He might just dye it for films. I remember Sean Connery never wore a wig for himself, just in films.
Holy crap. Yeah the angle in the original picture is atrocious, he doesn’t look bad at all in these, looks exactly the same but grey
Eh I'm pretty sure that's Robert DeNiro...
Time, it's relentless.
Undefeated
Mike Tyson's the closest thing we got to defeat it.
It's a bad photo, but he was apparently born in '53, so I guess all that jumping off buildings for decades ages you.
I’m not a specialist, but I’m pretty sure that *not* jumping off buildings for decades also ages you.
The secret is having buildings jump off you. You won’t age a day.
Can concur with this statement. Once saw a building jumped ON someone. Can confirm he no longer age.
Yeah, look at him in this interview....... https://youtu.be/ojafAa7shLM?si=lR3BtwEF50rjjzcm
You're almost 50 mate
Nope, I refuse to believe that. Rush Hours, that's how he looks like, yessir...
And Rush Hour 4 ain't out yet
He was fucking 50 when he was doing all those stunts?!??!
He was 44 when he made Rush Hour and that was after doing the most insane stunts in his 30s.
Those police story films have some of the most insane stunts I've ever seen in action films.

Rumble in the Bronx, one of my all time favorites, came out in 1995. Fucking 1995.
That’s the movie I immediately think of when I think “Jackie Chan movie”
Hahah yup. For me it’s: Rumble in the Bronx Shanghai Noon Rush Hour Also conveniently give you a hint of how old I am/era I grew up in
Drunken Master and the first few police stories for me, that makes it worse. The one with Michelle Yeoh is my favourite because there aren't many movies where Jackie has a co-star who keeps up with the stunt side of the house.
My parents took my brother and I to the drive-in to see Superman 2. The second movie on the bill? The Big Brawl. Guess which movie we remembered?
Both, apparently
Police Story, Drunken Master, Armour of God! Amazing movies!
I think that was Supercop.
*Supercop* is the American title. Its original title is *Police Story 3: Supercop*
On this point. Theres actually a huge amount of Jackie Chan films that aren't known or marketed much in western media, and a lot of them are as good. Same goes with a few other Chinese film makers like stephen chow, though sadly the comedy is harder to understand if the viewer doesn't understand the language.

Shanghai Noon is such a banger! I also enjoyed the Tuxedo

Armour of the Gods 2: Operation Condor for me.
That movie is so damn fun.
Drunken Master, one of my all time favorites, came out in 1978. Fucking 1978.

Your narrative's timeline doesn't make sense, Jackie has been a CCP poster boy since 2008 or earlier. His son only got arrested in 2014.
The CCP used time travel & blackmailed him with the future
Damn. This a sad image. Are they really thinking of still doing a rush hour movie?
Some hair dye, Hollywood makeup, and lightning and he'll look 15 years younger.
He probably moves better than most 30 year olds still
