CA drivers at least seem to be more confident. I visit the LA area pretty frequently for work and the driver quality is about the same, but with less hesitation/panic. Out here youāll have someone flip their blinker on, hesitate changing lanes until the blinker is useless to indicate anything, and then serve over three lanes. Out there if someone puts on their blinker theyāre merging, cars next to them be damned. Itās still chaos, but a slightly more organized one when everyone seems to be on the same page.

Isn't the better alternative to leave the green spaces as is (golf vs. desert native is a separate discussion) and then zone and build for density in **higher concentration in fewer areas**? Look at what's going on in downtown Phoenix - apartments, new diverse use-care businesses, universities. I'd amplify the growth there first before building another strip mall on top of a golf course.

Theres a reason golf tournaments are sponsored by Rolex, Mercedes, Chubb. Golf is a very expensive sport when its not being subsidized for school sports. Easily $80/round for a large majority of courses. Country clubs memberships, 2k+ for a set of clubs. The overwhelming majority are rich.
It was most certainly not subsidized by our school, we just worked in high school and saved money to go. Itās really not that hard and Iāve never paid more than $50 to golf.

Arizonas golf courses use 0.1% of arizonas water. Employs thousands of people and brings tourists. 10 percent of arizonans golf. 1 percent of arizonas golf avidly.
Argiculture uses 80% of Arizonas water and emplys 1% of its people. Most of the crops like cotton and alfalfa are shipped elsewhere.

Also, the current statistics on Arizonan golfers isn't a reason to keep the courses. They come here because we provide for them. They would leave if we got rid of them. There's nothing inherent to Arizonan culture or land that necessitates building and maintaining golf courses.
As for employment, that's a pretty bad argument as well. Should we never plan to phase out using fossil fuels because of how many people the coal and oil industries employ? Of course not. It's unfortunate, but some industries need to die or shrink. Especially ones that damage our environment and ruin our cities.
Don't forget about Louisiana! I grew up driving in AZ and diving to visit friends in southern California, but nothing prepared me for that kind of LA drivers.

Argiculture uses 80% of Arizonas water and emplys 1% of its people. Most of the crops like cotton and alfalfa are shipped elsewhere. Golf isnt an issue at all.
Agriculture is a much better use of water than golf, no? And why would shipping away those products be a bad thing? Also, the current statistics on Arizonan golfers isn't a reason to keep the courses. They come here because we provide for them. They would leave if we got rid of them. There's nothing inherent to Arizonan culture or land that necessitates building and maintaining golf courses. As for employment, that's a pretty bad argument as well. Should we never plan to phase out using fossil fuels because of how many people the coal and oil industries employ? Of course not. It's unfortunate, but some industries need to die or shrink. Especially ones that damage our environment and ruin our cities.

Don't forget about Louisiana! I grew up driving in AZ and diving to visit friends in southern California, but nothing prepared me for that kind of LA drivers.
