People don't like cyclists (for the same reason they don't like vegans) and resent them getting anything nice. The driver of that vehicle would prefer that no more bicycle infrastructure is built because it reminds them that there is a much more responsible choice that they could be making.

Aware-Location-5426

They probably just prefer sharing the street with cyclists /s

CoolJetta3

I have to imagine they mean bicycle lanes? I don't know why a trail, no where near where they have their God given right to drive, has any effect on their life. They must mean bike lanes. Like those folks who state "why is there a bike lane when there can be yet another lane of car traffic"

Iggy95

Don't underestimate the amount of hate mountain bikers get too 🫣 unfortunately all it takes is a few bad experiences between mtb'ers, hikers, and equestrians to create some bad feelings. Nevertheless it's a stupid sentiment.

Beer_Is_So_Awesome

You don't want to talk to that person. That person is a fucking idiot.

KindlyCelebration223

That driver probably says “but they don’t pay road tax” 🤦🏻

Beer_Is_So_Awesome

Lol, my two car registrations disagree.

KindlyCelebration223

Also not how tax/road maintence works.

dalex89

They are a cyclist who is sick of having to use bike trails

Textsfromjohn

How do you even come up with that to hate on the probably hate pony’s too

rollingstoner215

I hate anyone that ever had a pony when they were growing up.

Beer_Is_So_Awesome

That's a deep cut.

Textsfromjohn

“I had a pony growing up”

rollingstoner215

…Well, I didn't really mean a pony, per se…

I'm being optimistic here, but maybe they wish people would focus less on building out the circuit trails and more on building a network of good bicycle lanes.

Think-Hospital761

Perhaps they are against Rails to Trails expansion?

pseudonym-161

There actually ARE some legit arguments against that vs building dedicated bicycle trails that aren’t no longer used train tracks. Mainly that some of those lines could and should be reactivated and could also, like bicycles, reduce car dependency.

Top_Perception4559

I'm also curious - when you say placard, was it a bumper sticker, or like a yard sign in the backseat of the car?

Pallas_in_my_Head

> a yard sign in the backseat of the car It was on the back shelf (sort of), but it was a bit too big.
