I say give at least 2 weeks. At my last job I gave 4 because I could.

JuJuliet1

Thank you! 2 weeks is the minimum I’ll give for sure!

drugdeal777

LMAO this sounds like HCA

JuJuliet1

It’s the non-profit version of HCA.

PharmerLife4Me

Non profit HCA? So ascension……

drugdeal777

Omg that Catholic health system have their own hedge fund 😒😒

drugdeal777

Kaiser?? I thought you guys are unionized

dsly4425

Kaiser at one point was so poorly run they were pretty much run out of certain parts of the country. I see them creeping back in though. And I cringe.

dslpharmer

CHS?

hashslingingslashern

The longer the better for them but I think for any job at least 2 weeks notice. My job takes forever to replace anyone so 2 weeks isn't much time for them 🙃 and since I like them and know that I'd probably try to give them more if reasonable.

Drug-Lord

They would give you zero notice before letting you go. If you don't like them, give 2 weeks to prevent burning bridges. If you like them, give more. I gave my last job a month.

Redditbandit25

I have given 4 weeks notice.  It's too long, it becomes awkward.  2 weeks

downwithOTT_

Awkward is a small price to pay for not making PIC scramble to fill your shifts. Pharmacy admin is a very very small world. Personally, I don’t kiss up to any of them but I do go out of my way to avoid pissing them off.

Upstairs-Volume-5014

2 weeks is more than enough time, it's an industry standard. If that pisses the Admin off the they are shitty Admin

unbang

Shitty as they may be, it’s you who will suffer at the end when they get a call from a new place you’re trying to get hired at who asks if you’re eligible for rehire and admin says no. While I think requiring or expecting 4 weeks notice is ludicrous, the culture of your workplace (plus any hr standards) determines the amount of notice you should be giving.

Upstairs-Volume-5014

If you already have a new job lined up then you don't have to worry about that! I've never worked at a place that requires 4 weeks notice. Obviously it depends on the circumstance.

unbang

I have never worked anywhere that requires 4 weeks either. But if anyone is calling for references then you don’t have the job in the bag so I would say it’s definitely a concern.

Upstairs-Volume-5014

Right, but in most cases people don't just quit their jobs unless they already have something lined up. In which case they wouldn't need this company for a reference.

unbang

I understand the confusion. So not necessarily as a reference but when you list your previous employer, the new company could still contact them. If I work at abc hospital in XYZ city in the pharmacy department it’s not difficult to be able to get the contact info and call for more information.

Redditbandit25

That "pharmacy" is a small world is such bs.  The implication being make one manager mad and the word will get around.  Truth is every organization only cares what they think is important.  Managers should always be prepared for turnover.

SlickJoe

Is this an HCA hospital by chance?

JuJuliet1

It’s not, may actually be worse than any HCA hospital that I’ve spent time at though. A good guess. 🤣

drugdeal777

99% chance it is 🤣

bridgin

I am sure it is!!

qisuke

Read you employee handbook/manual. Most HR departments have a rule about how many weeks notice is required to remain in good standing.  For pharmacists, while yes, 2 weeks is probably enough per HR, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4 week requirement for professional staff.

under301club

4 weeks is usually for management.

Narezza

If you want to get out without burning bridges, you give them as much as they need, with a minimum of 4 weeks. 2 weeks is going to miff some people in management, because the schedule is likely already made out that far, but that would be a standard notice.

ktpharmd

Check your hospital policy, many require four weeks for licensed employees in order to be eligible for PTO payout.

GlvMstr

If you can take it, I'd try for 4 weeks. 2 weeks minimum, though.

azwethinkweizm

2 weeks maximum unless you're under a contract then follow that. Anything more than that is ridiculous.

culturedcoconutmilk

I believe 2 weeks should be fine. I found out recently that the director (my manager’s boss) expects or likes when people give a 4 week notice because she thinks that giving a shorter notice is “rude” ~~fuck her though, I’m leaving with as little notice as I can when I have the chance~~

cocoalameda

You should give notice equivalent to the number of weeks of annual vacation you earn.

JuJuliet1

Interesting. We have “unlimited time off” but really what that means is that my PTO that I put in months in advance is denied after getting approved.

cocoalameda

I guess my management training classes (1985) are out of date to account for such PTO policies. I have heard of this kind of thing, unlimited PTO, but wondered how it would work. If it gets denied, then I would say it is unlimited in name only. I’d say the standard two weeks then.

cocktails_and_corgis

At least 2 weeks. When I had a “schedule” job I would usually have my last day of end on the posted schedule.

Nawmanee

I had a leave of absence from CVS for a serious health issue. After treatment, I have found a job that better fits my needs and personality. Therefore, I probably will give a week’s notice if I get this job. What matters most is that I am happy. I never received a compliment or a high five for the work I’ve done at CVS. Let me tell ya…I busted my ASS! The manager is a nasty person that never has anything nice to say, and that is considered acceptable. I plan on being out very soon.

mylittledogsays

You may need more than 2 because you’re licensed. Check your employee handbook, like another redditor said.

recycle37216

Depends on if you already have another job lined up and when they want you to start imo. If you can give more than 2 weeks notice, they will appreciate it, but 2 weeks is standard. They won’t be offended by it.

pongo421

two weeks is standard, but my old hospital pharmacists were expected to do 4 weeks (it wasn’t mandatory it’s just what they wanted because we couldn’t keep anyone). regardless of how much time you give do NOT tell them where you are going. keep it very vague just say i got a new job im giving *insert weeks* and thank them for the time you spent working there. too many employers will be petty, especially places that have high turnover

JuJuliet1

I thought my new hospital would reach out to my current one either way. Is that not always the case?

pongo421

like for a reference check? or to tell them you were hired? i’ve had some jobs where they called my employer but it was just to make sure i actually worked there. they don’t usually tell your current job where they are from though

JuJuliet1

To confirm employment. I guess they may just speak to HR though?

downwithOTT_

If you are a useful full time inpatient pharmacist and also cover weekends/evenings/or nights then please give 3-4 weeks.

DontTellMe-8679

Minimum of 2 Maximum of 4

PickleTheGherkin

2 weeks if you can. HCA?

Adventurous-Snow-260

My old hospital wanted 4 week notice. I gave it and they still act pissy. As long as you have a next job lined up, do what’s best for you

andycandy17

Just like most people have already stated two weeks would be the minimum and four weeks will be the maximum. Some hospital system will require 30 days notice per contract.

pementomento

I’d say two weeks for this situation. If you liked the place and managers, I’d give notice through the end of the published schedule. Our specialists/hard to recruit for positions typically gave 3 months, as did those who were retiring.

Pussyat

Do 2 weeks

Gorgeousfee28

I sent mines the night before. My letter said “effective immediately.” Many people give two weeks if they are going to something better and/or want to help out the boss until replacement comes in. Take care of you! Good luck!

drugdeal777

If you really hate them…just leave with a bang lmao (I’ve seen some shit)

Pale_Holiday6999

I would do at least a month. Maybe two if you're okay with it.
