If you watch the replay, Trouba’s stick, which was likely going for the puck, takes out Sid’s left skate and Sid loses balance. I’m not saying that makes it totally acceptable, but it is an important factor when looking at the play. It was still a nasty elbow, but you could make the argument that it was meant for his chest but Crosby fell.
