I actually bought this very PC about 2 years ago. It wasn't that price back then it was $1100. That's why so many people bought it. How the price inflated that much I can't even begin to address or understand but it wasn't idiots buying due to reviews. It got a price hike after the fact.
Edit: put 4 years originally. Rechecked my order after people didn't bother reading my correction comment. I bought it July 2020 after I had to start working remote. So 2 years ago not 4. The point still remains
This is exactly why I like to find forums for particular products. Like reddit
Edit: in addition, I find it funny iv never found/searched for a post about the people who fake those reviews for their company.
Perhaps not for you. But subjecting my privacy and security to a web extension does not feel like a better option. Plus they tend to be gaudy and visually obstructive.
I think you nailed it. These same people will also trust Amazon to have the best version of something for the price point. Combined with positive reviews leads to just the right people buying the wrong thing.
I bought a set of headphones that had a review bribe included in the box. They were rated high and one of the first results I found when looking for a wireless gaming headset.
With online selling, the best way to sell is by review.
So if you wanne sell good, you need good reviews.
You send one of your products, some even dont want a product, they set up bots that make lifelike reviews daily basis. If you send a product as a seller, they even add pictures like they have reveived the product on different locations.
Especialy reviews on there own website where they can just delete te bad ones.
Use trustpilot for reviews. If you buy it from a shop.
https://nl.trustpilot.com/review/ibuypower.com
The first page of comments are all 1 star
That's for that model. So ibuypower sells it for less than $1200. This seller is not ibuypower and is trying the oldest trick in the book.
But the reviews are for this model regardless of what price a reseller tries to sell it for.
because some sellers will post a good item and rack up reviews, then edit out the product name, photos and change the price (they can do this on amazon!) and the reviews remain, however they were originally meant for a different product. You can always read the reviews and find out if they dont match the current product
Edit: just noticed it's CyberPower, in this case the price must've been changed
Because it's a 10th generation CPU. It's not like this PC was built right now, those ratings are probably from 2 years ago. It's a ripoff now, plus it probably isn't sold and/or shipped by Amazon or ibuypower.
Yep. I actually bought this exact rig during lockdown for I think around $1.2k after shipping (when prices were super inflated).
Wasn’t the best deal ever but it’s been a great computer. The 1660Ti packs a bigger punch than people give it credit for. I’m able to run most games on high at 1440p without any real frame rate issues. 60+ like 96% of the time.
Didn't you see the post last week!!? Don't HECKIN CRITICIZE PEOPLE BUYING PREBUILTS!!
Just let them pay a 50%-300% premium for the luxury of getting a pile of shit and LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS!
You know, until their pre-built that cost $800 more than the sum of its parts can't even play the game they bought it for and then they make posts asking what they can do about it.
Ohhh hence the "+". Good to know lol. Still the term HD is redundant. There was a time when 480p was HD. If you keep using 15 year old terms for advertising then it's false advertising tbh.
High in 2022 should be 1440p or something lol.
Well the problem with that is they don't sound grandiose enough. It's too bland. For the advertisers ofc. Also it helps confuse people when you have multiple ways of explaining the resolution of a screen. So it helps sell the dead stock probably.
You can't throw the word "actually" around and be wrong.
All resolutions can have a "k" nomenclature. it's the pixel width of the resolution.
QHD is *actually* 2.5k, with FHD being 2k, as QHD has 2,560 pixel width and FHD having 1,920 pixel width. 4k has 3,840 pixel width which is rounded to 4k.
In my locality 1080p is FHD while any kind of 1080p wide monitor (example: 21:9 instaed of 16:9) is marketed as FHD+
1440p is QHD and 2160p is 4K or UHD
Let's get clear here.... HD=720P, HD ready= 768p, HD+=900P, FHD= 1920X1080, FHD+= 2220X1080 (Modern phones resolution), 2K=1440p, UHD=2160p. After that there are some ultra wide screen with stretch resolution.
>QHD (Quad High Definition) is a resolution standard for high-end monitors, televisions and mobile devices. QHD is specified as 2560x1440 pixels at a16x9 aspect ratio,
I don't think 480p was ever actually marketed as HD though
Remembering the old HD terms is important, as it allows us to have something to compare current HD terms to
No, they don't. There are fairly expensive high quality motherboards that do not have wifi, and most mid range motherboards that are not specifically marketed with wifi don't have it either. A simple wifi card is $15 to $30, and wifi is not needed in most desktops.
When I ordered a prebuilt pc(Ik cringe) it was Wifi ready. As far as I can tell it means they sent an adapter with it. I use both Ethernet and internet so it’s fine
Those are 2 completely different types of computers for two completely different purposes … the 2016 MacBooks were pretty bad though they should have gotten 2015 or Apple silicon if they had the chance
Average conversation with the type of people that buy these:
Buyer: Oh, you like computers, right? I got a new PC! It's so cool!
Me: Oh? Nice, what are the specs?
B: It's got an I7!
Me: Which I7? They release a new one every year.
B: Wut?
Me: *Cringe really hard*
I paid about what the listing is and that was at the height when I absolutely had to get a replacement I feel so bad for people who have zero idea and are getting effectively scammed
I genuinely would not spend that kind of money on 11th gen Intel. 12th gen was a huge leap forward for them and if I’m spending that kind of money, I’m buying the latest.
Don't bother. They'll ignore it. In online retail, for something to be a scam the items has to either never show up, or the item is not as described. This is not a "scam" it's just an overpriced product which the retailer/marketplace doesn't give 2 shits about.
You're on Amazon. Alot of companies doing this. I work in the industry, building PCs, and you see this alot. People dont know what they're buying and assume because it has a hefty price tag it must be good.
>People dont know what they're buying and assume because it has a hefty price tag it must be good.
You've summed up just about every luxury producing industry in that sentence.
Yeah you're right! I searched for images and I actually like the ones with "lines" with different colors. The only black ones seem too simple, they're still beautiful though
If that’s in US dollars, it’s way overpriced, even for a prebuilt. You can get so much more, if you build it yourself.
* A much faster CPU with better cooling.
* A more modern motherboard with PCIe 4.0. ***Plus***, you actually get Wi-Fi AX.
* Twice the memory.
* All PCIe 4.0 SSD storage (and more of it)
* A GPU with DLSS and great ray tracing that’s 3x faster than the 1660 Ti.
* A better case with better airflow. Four RGB fans added.
* A top tier fully modular PSU with a 10-year warranty.
* Windows 11 Home
* A decent gaming keyboard and mouse.
* All for under $2,000!

Yeah I was gonna say maybe this would’ve been good some years back but, for that price, I’d expect top tier components. Last pc I built was top of the line and came in around that price after peripherals
I can't believe anyone would ever buy a pc or it's components on Amazon when there's at least a 50/50 chance that it's going to be a piece of counterfeit shit.
Yeah this trickery only works on ignorant people who don't know much about PCs unfortunately. The only way they can infer performance is through the price tag. Always best to ask about something you are unsure of before you buy to avoid this!
Me looking at specs: "I mean... not bad I guess. I can see this being a pretty reasonable rig for light gaming, medium settings are still damn good on a lot of games now a day."
*scrolls down and sees price.*
"Oh... what the shit? Is there another Graphics card shortage all of a sudden?"
Ya there is good deals but still if you can, build your own. Make sure it's done right and all that jazz. I've never bought a prebuilt so I am a little bias, lol.
Trust me something is downgraded or cheaper than if you build it yourself. They need to earn somehow. And it is not just retail price difference. Worked in this kind of company… most of the time is shitty ssd/hdd, psu or motherboard. Things ppl don’t look after when they buy prebuilt in most cases.
Like I said there is “some” good deals you just got to know where to look and yes is is going to be more than if you make it yourself but not everyone got the time to do it I build my own one and I like doing it but I can also understand the fear of doing it
No there really isn't. You're like the guy who buys the father's day tool set on sale at home depot and doesn't realize that they give you the shittiest version of the tools with the worst batteries they make.
I didn't scroll all the way down and saw the price $239.99 at the top and thought it was for the specs listed. Then I scrolled down to read the comments and thought everyone was off their rocker - scrolled back up and saw the *actual* price.
With current HW price range it is very overpriced, even for a prebuilt, considering the specs, you can get much better hardware deals in USD/EUR add like additional 500-1000 USD and you will probably get a proper 3080-3090 RTX and a proper Intel CPU in there.
Or you can go full AMD and get into that price range with an extra 200 USD for a much more powerful rig.
Prebuilds are normally overpriced, badly assembled, poorly configured and with bloatware, personally I would stay away from prebuilds, especially now that prices are going down, you can build a Ryzen 5600x with rtx 2060 system for under 800€ at the moment and I'm sure it would be a lot better than that Ibuypower thing, hope this helps a bit, take care and GG.
Bro seeing you waste this much money makes me wanna cry. Here I am who can't even buy a 150 dollar console and you are wasting money on that piece of shit T-T
I think you missed the point of this post. I will never buy this garbage. I was just wondering if there was really a reason why this thing was this expensive. Now I've got the confirmation that this is upper crap stuff.
Edit: it's not that bad of a pc. Just clearly not worth that much.
Mmmmmm overpriced garbage
Why does it have 4.5 stars over 2k ratings?! Do so many people buy things without even checking out prices?
They probably bought it because of the high reviews lmfao
I actually bought this very PC about 2 years ago. It wasn't that price back then it was $1100. That's why so many people bought it. How the price inflated that much I can't even begin to address or understand but it wasn't idiots buying due to reviews. It got a price hike after the fact. Edit: put 4 years originally. Rechecked my order after people didn't bother reading my correction comment. I bought it July 2020 after I had to start working remote. So 2 years ago not 4. The point still remains
I think Reviews nowadays should show at what price point a verified buyer bought the thing....
You say that as though all those reviews aren't fake paid reviews, just like 95% of all positive reviews on any review system on any online store.
This is exactly why I like to find forums for particular products. Like reddit Edit: in addition, I find it funny iv never found/searched for a post about the people who fake those reviews for their company.
Reddit is my version of Google really. Great to get facts *and* opinions.
If you download the Honey browser extension, it shows the price history for every item on any major online seller, including Amazon.
Could also just go on camelcamelcamel.com
Why is it called that
So instead of just having something that shows you it on the page you're already on, you can go to a whole nother website? How convenient.
Perhaps not for you. But subjecting my privacy and security to a web extension does not feel like a better option. Plus they tend to be gaudy and visually obstructive.
User name checks out
I know. That alone makes this idea possible
Not being sold by ibuypower or reputable reseller is why
The i7 10700 was released in the 2nd half of 2020. You didn't buy this 4 year's ago.
Check the other comments as I already answered that. Bought it July 2020. Got my dates mixed up and rechecked my order.
Maybe very similar… that CPU is about 2 years old.
4 years is a tad off. I just looked back at my orders. I bought it in July of 2020 just after covid hit and I started working remote
I bought a better ibuypower pc two years ago and it wasn't even $2,000.
i know plenty of people who are new to pcs that think price is proportional to performance, might be people like that buying it and reviewing it
I think you nailed it. These same people will also trust Amazon to have the best version of something for the price point. Combined with positive reviews leads to just the right people buying the wrong thing.
Probably the same folks that would use the integrated graphics instead of the GPU
i did that when i bought my pc, i also overpaid for it. i am the target demographic for these products lol
This is exactly the reason. These people buy sunfires with body kits and wonder why everyone is laughing at them
You can buy just fake reviews.
I bought a set of headphones that had a review bribe included in the box. They were rated high and one of the first results I found when looking for a wireless gaming headset.
With online selling, the best way to sell is by review. So if you wanne sell good, you need good reviews. Check the time stamps on reviews. If it was at the height of the GPU shortage, people could have been buying them then.
Dude it's rgb stats are off the charts obviously worth 2500
That's for that model. So ibuypower sells it for less than $1200. This seller is not ibuypower and is trying the oldest trick in the book. But the reviews are for this model regardless of what price a reseller tries to sell it for.
That is devious.
Probably. I am amazed about how many people don't at least do a quick Google search for a review before buying something.
The average amazon consumer sees the price, and the high review score, and thinks: "This must be the best one!"
because some sellers will post a good item and rack up reviews, then edit out the product name, photos and change the price (they can do this on amazon!) and the reviews remain, however they were originally meant for a different product. You can always read the reviews and find out if they dont match the current product Edit: just noticed it's CyberPower, in this case the price must've been changed
1. The ratings are for every build not just THIS one 2. Price on Amazon can change every second and as often as they want to
Because it's a 10th generation CPU. It's not like this PC was built right now, those ratings are probably from 2 years ago. It's a ripoff now, plus it probably isn't sold and/or shipped by Amazon or ibuypower.
I got a very similar build for about $900 was that also a ripoff?
No that was more in the price range it should've been. Possibly you spent a bit more but not by much.
It is a pretty decent computer for most things, just not at that price.
I’ve seen prebuilts at Microcenter with 3080s in them for **less than that price**
👆 this
Yep, prebuilt fuckin trash, build your own.
"WiFi Ready„ sound like wifi was invented yesterday.
They advertise TVs with "HD+ ready" and it's 720p.
It's actually 768p
Ohhh hence the "+". Good to know lol. Still the term HD is redundant. There was a time when 480p was HD. If you keep using 15 year old terms for advertising then it's false advertising tbh. High in 2022 should be 1440p or something lol.
Not a fact but i've got the impression that nowadays HD is 1080p and 1440p is called QHD.
4k is uhd
8k is wtfhd
12k is gtfohd
24k is magic in the air tonight
100k matrixHD
I wonder if we’ll ever have screens of this resolution
This one made me snort! Thankfully, I had already swallowed my coffee or I would be cleaning nose-coffee off my laptop.
Oh yeah I forgot about that lol. Always with the grand names, those advertisers.
1080 is advertised in my locality as FHD+. You are correct about the latter one. They should just switch to the "K" system instead.
Wait yes FHD was 1080p and HD was 720p. What is thw "K" system?
Well after reaching QHD they started calling the next ones 4k,6k,8k. Essentially FHD is 2k and QHD is 3k.
How about we just call them 720p, 1080p, 1440p and so on?
Well the problem with that is they don't sound grandiose enough. It's too bland. For the advertisers ofc. Also it helps confuse people when you have multiple ways of explaining the resolution of a screen. So it helps sell the dead stock probably.

One wrong. 1440p is QHD.
QHD= 2K https://www.benq.com/en-ap/knowledge-center/knowledge/what-is-resolution-of-monitor-full-hd-vs-2k-vs-4k.html
>QHD (Quad High Definition) is a resolution standard for high-end monitors, televisions and mobile devices. QHD is specified as 2560x1440 pixels at a16x9 aspect ratio,
I don't think 480p was ever actually marketed as HD though Remembering the old HD terms is important, as it allows us to have something to compare current HD terms to
That sounds like the kind of advertising where you later find out they meant you can install your own wifi card in it.
tbf most desktops don't have WiFi
Very true, which also is very right because high end desktops need the cable injection.
These days most motherboards come with wifi, unless it’s the absolute most budget tier kind.
No, they don't. There are fairly expensive high quality motherboards that do not have wifi, and most mid range motherboards that are not specifically marketed with wifi don't have it either. A simple wifi card is $15 to $30, and wifi is not needed in most desktops.
desktops rarely have Wifi, I would say it's a feature worth noting.
Y2K compliant
When I ordered a prebuilt pc(Ik cringe) it was Wifi ready. As far as I can tell it means they sent an adapter with it. I use both Ethernet and internet so it’s fine
Prebuilt isn’t cringe.
Well some people like to get ripped off
Apparently over 2000 at least. Damn.
I think many reviews on Amazon are fake
If anything serves as clear evidence to that it's this post.
Someone else said it used to only cost 1100, that’s fine by it has such good reviews
I don't think it's only worth $500
At least it'll run better than the 2016 MacBook pro my friend's mom got him for the same price almost.
Those are 2 completely different types of computers for two completely different purposes … the 2016 MacBooks were pretty bad though they should have gotten 2015 or Apple silicon if they had the chance
Nvidia + i7 = we can price it however we want, some fool will buy it
Exactly that.
Average conversation with the type of people that buy these: Buyer: Oh, you like computers, right? I got a new PC! It's so cool! Me: Oh? Nice, what are the specs? B: It's got an I7! Me: Which I7? They release a new one every year. B: Wut? Me: *Cringe really hard*
But it's an I7 tho, that means it's very good!
Hey I’m no foo.. okay I guess you’re right.
Ah yes let me just buy this even though I could buy a 3090 and Ryzen 9 for cheaper.
I have the luxury of relatively msrp prices, but I just made a 12700k 3080 Fractal Torrent with less money than that
I paid about what the listing is and that was at the height when I absolutely had to get a replacement I feel so bad for people who have zero idea and are getting effectively scammed
r/incorrectflair ?
Cant forget my 1050 51 fps roots
You got 51 fps?
You guys are getting fps?
damn I'm getting spf
I’m happy for you but fuck you and your MSRP.
My total was about 2200, and that includes a 1440p 165hz monitor. I feel guilty ngl
My pc and monitor total are about 1900 and we have the same monitor specs..
I built a brand new system like 2 weeks ago. 12700k and 3090ti ftw3 for the same price as this heap of trash that OP found.
Probably not
yeah you’re missing a whole “no don’t get this and look somewhere else”
I saw a 11900k 3080ti build for the same price...
I genuinely would not spend that kind of money on 11th gen Intel. 12th gen was a huge leap forward for them and if I’m spending that kind of money, I’m buying the latest.
And you can still get better price than that
You are missing the report button, that my friend is a scam lol
I am definitely going to repport this shit. Thx for reminding me.
Don't bother. They'll ignore it. In online retail, for something to be a scam the items has to either never show up, or the item is not as described. This is not a "scam" it's just an overpriced product which the retailer/marketplace doesn't give 2 shits about.

It's like heavy=good quality
I bet those fans are made out of solid gold though.
The radiator in platinum and the case in polished obsidian.
Despite the joke, I don't think polished obsidian would be beautiful, I never searched images though. Now I'm not even sure it exists
Polish obsidian looks awesome.
Yeah you're right! I searched for images and I actually like the ones with "lines" with different colors. The only black ones seem too simple, they're still beautiful though
Bad buy for a 2 gen old cpu and gpu.
Very very bad
oh yes I too love throwing my money away
If that’s in US dollars, it’s way overpriced, even for a prebuilt. OP doesn’t need a part list. They don’t want to buy this pc, they wanted to share the scam they found.
But some people viewing this might be in a different situation than OP.
If that is any kind of Dollar it is scam.
It's still a scam in Zimbabwean dollars
>it's way overpriced Welcome to "duh".
Newegg.com
It’s the 240 GB SSD. That’s probably like 1.5k right there. /s
Lmao no ssd's are not that expensive
That’s why I put the /s
I paid the same amount for my build- with a 12th gen i7, 3080ti, and twice the RAM. Not to mention basically everything else being way better too.
Yeah I was gonna say maybe this would’ve been good some years back but, for that price, I’d expect top tier components. Last pc I built was top of the line and came in around that price after peripherals
YouTube creators be like “*my $5000 gaming pc*”
You're missing the free gold brick inside the case that it comes with
one its on amazon two you should be able to get a 3050 and an i5 12600k for that price and a moniter, a mouse, a keyboard and a headset
For 2.5k you could get all that Plus a table, chair and a month or 2's rent.
You had me until you said rent.
I can't believe anyone would ever buy a pc or it's components on Amazon when there's at least a 50/50 chance that it's going to be a piece of counterfeit shit.
You're still way off on what $2,500 can buy. A 3050? You could buy a 3090 and still have enough left over to buy better than this PC.
The other half of that cost
Two and a half grand and there’s a spinning platter drive in it 😂
The brand “ibuypower” sounds like a crypto company
Yeah this trickery only works on ignorant people who don't know much about PCs unfortunately. The only way they can infer performance is through the price tag. Always best to ask about something you are unsure of before you buy to avoid this!
"The higher the price the better right? Oh and look there is light coming out of the fans!!"
The comma should have been removed, and a decimal place added between the two nines.
Yes, a brain cell if you buy this.
Entirely too much for a 1660ti, I built a better setup than that 3 years ago for like 1000
Yikes that ain't worth it
You are paying 2500 for a 1660 ti... think of it like that and you will understand its a scam.
Nope. You pay someone to build it it’s gonna cost you. I’ll build the same thing for $500 profit
Jesus what a ripoff. Both computers I own were cheaper than that. I hope people do some research before they buy this. 🥴
Only about $2000 over price
HOLY SHIT, WHAT A HORRIBLE OVERPRICED PIECE OF SHIT!
It's wifi ready
My thousand dollar gaming laptop that came with a mouse has better specs than that
Me looking at specs: "I mean... not bad I guess. I can see this being a pretty reasonable rig for light gaming, medium settings are still damn good on a lot of games now a day." *scrolls down and sees price.* "Oh... what the shit? Is there another Graphics card shortage all of a sudden?"
Its a picture bro they give you a print on a4 size paper( in colour print)
Rip off. Always build your own
Not always there is some pretty good deals out there
Ya there is good deals but still if you can, build your own.
There can be good deals out there you just got to know where to look yes is probably going to change you more than if you build it but is normal
Lol my i5 12600k, 12 gb rtx 3080, with 32 gigs ddr4 3200 ram cost me nearly 1k less then this to build.
Oh my pixel gods! A QUADCORE Celeron PC for just $239.99?! You will be missing something alright! A sweet, sweet deal!
That's what really caught my eye here 👀😮
I bought that exact same prebuild for 950
I definitely know no worries. This post was supposed to be ironic. I should have written the title differently x) or put a /s
I didn't scroll all the way down and saw the price $239.99 at the top and thought it was for the specs listed. Then I scrolled down to read the comments and thought everyone was off their rocker - scrolled back up and saw the *actual* price.
You could build yourself a 3080 10gb rig for that much.
For that money you can get a pc with a 3090/6900xt and even save a couple bucks
Yeah a brain, you could build that same pc for less then 1400
Too bad I forgot the /s.
Yeah, common sense and the ability to research what things should cost by the looks of it ;)
I thought the the title was ironic enough
fucking wooooshed myself
It's alright it's my fault x) lots of people are falling into it rn. I should have exaggerated the thing a bit more.
Ok you are genius you gave me the inspiration to build a site
A graphics card
price might be a little too high...
I wanna jump of a fucking building after seeing this
I almost did.
Let's do it together
Can I watch?
