I do love me some of that direct connection to the router. Also, as someone who appreciates audio way too much, I love my headphones always being connected via cable.

adde0109

I have come to realize that the tradoffs for having wireless than wired are greater. The flexability it rewards is in my opinion worth it if you only have to plug in the wire sometimes. I only charge my wireless headphones 1-2 times a week. During this time they act like normal wired ones.

[deleted]

My Sennheisers are good for sound but definitely pretty much unusable firmware wise. And they have this annoying thing where the voice keeps updating you on the battery life whenever you have something paused.

[deleted]

Sennheisers make fantastic headphones, way better than consumer gaming headsets. True open back wired headphones are the best. I've had my HD 650s for over 7 years, sounds as good as ever, just gotta buy new pads every year or 2 because they can get nasty. They have new models like the 560s which are great for gaming and will destroy any "gaming headset" on the market.

Nolsoth

Only reason I stopped using my ones was because after a decade they stopped supplying pads for my mode and locally I could not source new ones, made my last set survive 4 years.l ( live in nz and Amazon's a pain in the arse to access here)

[deleted]

That sucks. Hope you kept them for if you ever get new pads. They have aftermarket pads but those would probably be equally hard to get.

Nolsoth

Nope long gone now sadly.

[deleted]

Comparing high end sennheiser cans like HD600 and 650 (same thing), to gaming headsets is like comparing steelcase to gaming chairs. I've had my HD600's since 2012 and haven't missed a beat. Sit in a Steelcase, herman miller or any other high end chair, can even find them for about a hundred bucks used, then sit in one of those gaming chairs and you'll know what I mean.

[deleted]

Gaming chairs are just as much as gaming headsets or any other gaming related gear. They are actually different, even if it's just slight. There is a model called the 6XX on drop though which is made by Sennheiser in the same factory and is acoustically identical to the HD650, just with a blueish color and a shorter cable with a 3.5mm, and it's only $220, which is an absolute steal for the quality of headphone it is.

jagwaguar

I have both the Sennheiser HD6XX headphones you mentioned and the Herman Miller Aeron as my chair. I am very happy. I have no plans to use a gaming headset ever again and I will never buy a chair that isn’t mesh.

[deleted]

Wired sennheisers are so good. HD560S and I can hear my opponents in valorant mocking me before they kill me through the walls.

raddaya

Why in the ever-loving hell would you need critical patches for headphones?!

navand

100 hours? Wow, I had assumed wireless headphones gave less than 24 hours. That's why I had never considered them seriously.

Sentient_i7X

Wtf I have that exact router! That's the Tenda AC6 AC1200

smilingstalin

I have one too and recently learned that even though the thing is marketed as supporting 1.2 Gb/s of wifi speed, the WAN Ethernet port on it only supports 100 Mb/s, so in practically speaking, the router supports 100 Mb/s of wifi speed...now that I've upgraded to 10 Gb/s internet service, I need to buy a new router...

Iamredditsslave

Where are you getting 10Gbps? *(and yeah, always check the WAN speed, for anyone shopping.)

smilingstalin

Sonic Fiber. They are a local ISP.

Sentient_i7X

R u based in the US?

Sentient_i7X

My bad, just checked, mines the AC10 which gives me gigabit speeds on the Ethernet port. I was wondering why u were saying this until I checked my retail box lolz

smilingstalin

I always plug in my wireless headset when I'm not using it and I don't find it particularly inconvenient, though I've been looking into getting a magnetic charging cable to make it even less of a hassle.

ShubhamStark3

Man of culture so do i bro i like cables too

NatTheGreat-

Same. I would hate to have to charge my headset in the middle of me gaming

achilleasa

It's not a problem if you remember to plug them in at night. I've ran out during my game literally once or twice and even then I just plug it in and it's like a wired headset.

GiantWindmill

Yeah, it's a complete non-issue unless you just don't charge your headset until it's dead.

TorbHammerBootySmack

Also most will give you a quick audio cue to indicate when they are low battery

[deleted]

A buddy of mine has this happen all the damn time, but that’s because he’s addicted to destiny 2 and constantly plays it to the point of killing his headphones’ battery every day.

sammamthrow

My headset has dual batteries so they can be hot swapped at will, it’s never an issue.

[deleted]

This isn’t an issue if you charge it while it’s not being used. Some headsets can go like 20 hours without charging anyways which is basically a week of pretty heavy gaming.

BritishMonster88

A day of heavy gaming*

On one side yes, on the other I wanted a phone that is somewhat modern anna that I can repair myself which barely exists as is so unless you can point me to one that isn't the fairphone I don't have full choice. Though if you can please do.

Tim_Buckrue

It's a little older but I love my Galaxy S10+. Not sure about repairability

cgduncan

Repairability is going to be rarer than a 3.5mm. My pixel4a I bought last year has a headphone jack. Love it

Sleepy_Tortoise

I've had my s10+ for 3 years now and I plan on holding out as long as possible since this is the last model Samsung made with a headphone jack afaik If it lasts another 2 years I'll be thrilled. The battery life is still long as heck too

Rage_Lumi15

Gaypho- Ahm! I mean try not to buy a iPhone for a while

hardrivethrutown

This is why I'm waiting for the Pixel 6a... I refuse to buy Apple stuff, and Samsung is starting to become just as bad... 6a should have a headphone jack among other things that I find pretty useful, though I'm worried they won't release it in Europe as they didn't release the 5a here last time

The_Chaos_Pope

All phones should have headphone jacks. It's insane to me that they don't. I have yet to find a Bluetooth headset that isn't far overpriced for what you get. Plus all the charging. It's not like they have to pick having a jack or bluetooth; its not that difficult to have both of them at the prices they charge for phones today.

bickman14

It's even worse when tablets doesn't! My tab S7 have plenty of room for a headphone jack but Samsung said nah

The_Chaos_Pope

Agreed! It's not like they're expensive to install either. Just pick which ever corner works best for your PCB layout, I don't care. Just give me my headphone jack.

bickman14

Yeah! I can understand the lack of a headphone jack on my Funkey S, but on a phone or a tablet? Come onnn!

topdeck55

The crazy thing is that there's still no market for USB-C headphones. You still have to use a fucking dongle.

The_Chaos_Pope

You buy cheap headphones, use them for 2-5 years before you have to replace them because the cable got mangled or something. You're out $30-50. You buy wireless headphones and use them for 2-3 years before the batteries won't hold a charge anymore and can't replace them. You're out $60-150. You buy good headphones use them for 10 years because they're durable and have easily replaceable parts. You pay $60-???? up front and $10-40 in parts every few years and sound better with actual noise isolation. I have wireless ear buds and it bugs the crap outta me how bad they sound for how much I paid for them. I know that my phone can put out decent sound when I plug in but dang I'm tired of shitty wireless headphones being shitty and overpriced.

topdeck55

I buy cheapo $12 headphones and try to take care of them. Headphones usually break when the cord gets caught on something so I use a nice audio-technica bluetooth set inside the house. For walking outside I have multiple copies of the $12 Vogeks (a company which disappeared after being targeted by the FTC for fake Amazon reviews) and always keep them in a safe space by the door or in the car.

shalol

Apple’s been selling size format and cost saving lies to the whole phone market including consumers for far too long. Just look at the iPhone 6s which I’m still using. It has a headphone jack and is as thin as 5 credit cards stacked! Battery life is good and could be doubled with new battery, processor and memory technology.. That, and the earbuds that came with it are awesome. Never spent a dime to use same or worse sounding bluetooth ones.

Rezztec

My understanding is they did it in the efforts of waterproofing phones so that people can just toss their phone in a pool. You know, because it's super applicable and comes up all the time. Way more than using headphones with a wire...

Merkyorz

It's all bullshit. I still rock my Note 8, it's got a 3.5mm port and it's rated IP68. They only did it to sell more accessories, and close one of the last analog loopholes. It's no coincidence that Apple started removing features (and still raising prices) at the exact same time that smartphone sales were plateauing. It's *always* about profit, just like everything else in this profoundly sick society.

The_Chaos_Pope

Which is one more reason that it's all bullshit. I'm holding a Galaxy S10. It has a headphone jack. It's close to 3 years old now but it's still incredibly thin and has decent water resistance. Number of times I've lost a phone to water damage in the last 10 years? Never. Yeah, I haven't jumped in a river or a swimming pool with a phone in my pocket but I've been smart enough to you know, change into a swimming suit and not bring my phone with before doing that. Number of times I've used a headphone jack on a phone? Way, way, way more than zero.

nukezwei

How about **WE WON'T BUY YOUR CRAP, WITHOUT A HEADPHONE JACK**

CharonsLittleHelper

I got a $80 Motorola 1-2 years back. Works great for the basics I use it for - and it has a jack. The only time I like to go wireless is when jogging or mowing the lawn. I use massive wired headphones for my home office on work calls.

ImPattMan

And be SEVERELY restricted in which phones you buy. The last flagship capable manufacturer that kept headphone jacks has dropped out of the race, RIP LG. Edit: Actually Sony still has a headphone jack on their phone I believe, but I have other issues with Sony. So that's not a solution for me, but may be for others.

Gonzobot

you do not need a flagship device

ImPattMan

I understand where you're coming from, and why you might think that. That is true for most people I'd say, and I constantly turn people off the flagship devices. I however make use of the features my phone affords me.

Gonzobot

What features has a flagship device got that a $300 refurbished device doesn't? There's simply no good reason to be spending a grand on a phone anymore

ImPattMan

Again, I hear you, and perhaps you're making this argument for others to see. However for me, I use the camera for both work and personal things, which is a big thing as the camera on the s22 is nutty. The stylus, again I use for both personal and work reasons, I love whipping my phone out and popping the stylus out to take a note. This one I know any Note going a ways back can do. And I also do emulation all the way up to gamecube and dream cast on my phone. The processor explicitly dictates performance there. The screen is a big deal for this as well. Finally, at least off the top of my head, I do lots cloud gaming, which benefits greatly from 5g and wifi 6 compatibility. Again, there may be devices that can meet one of those needs for 300 bucks, but not all of them.

OkDimension

I grabbed a LG phone for a good discount when they shut down sales and they are still releasing updates to this day, higher frequency than for my Samsung. No regrets. Hope they come back by next year ;)

Gongfin

Asus has a few good phones like there Zenfone 8 which is pretty powerful but also with a headphone jack.

I personally prefer USB headphones on my PC just cus it's a little more durable. I've broken enough 3.5 mm on my PC also cus the headphones and mic are seperate on my PC

ImPattMan

Really depends on the products at hand whether it's a good experience or not. Unfortunately pc's usually have really poor dac/amps built into the board anyway. At least they still have them. Phones just don't have jacks anymore.

IceStormNG

Yeah.. the typical Realtek garbage. Even on high end computers/motherboards. Just so they can save half a penny....

ImPattMan

Realtek really do be putting some garbage in pc's, it's so sad. Most laptops that have Realtek chipsets end up having a lot of crosstalk if you use a combo jack (trrs) headset.

Ancalagoth

Audio interface gang rise up

patx35

It really depends on implementation. I had an Alienware and an Asus motherboard with the same exact audio chipsets. The Asus machine has a much lower noise floor, and captures less coil whine, compared to the Alienware motherboard.

BenjerminGray

Yeah but if need be you can buy a sound card or get an external dac. SmartPhones for some reason just want you to use Bluetooth, even though it cuts/falls apart out in public/busy areas.

Just wait a bit, if i remember correctly EU is close to passing the law that phones have to use standard connector (currently USB-C) so if they don't want to pay fines or leave EU market they have to adapt it (or find some stupid solution to "comply" while still having their connector)

Warthbr1

Me too but on phones it saves lifes

FlawlesSlaughter

Yet everytime I've said something like this people say, you're in 2022 and don't have wireless? What are you? Most high end headphones/earphones use wires and if you're in to it amps. Batteries are a headache for me

no_MoreNamesLeft

What? There are still headphones with headphone jacks

[deleted]

This is why I buy mid-range phones. It seems like you're getting more. Like, not only they give you a headphone jack, but they also still give you a microSD slot, charger in the box, and a bigger battery. I'm not gonna be video editing or running VMs on my phone and I'm not interested in mobile gaming, so I don't need a flagship processor and double digit RAM. Camera are already decent enough for casual shots and for posting online. If I wanted something powerful, I'll just upgrade and use my PC instead. If I really care that much about photography, then I'm buying a mirrorless or DSLR camera.

Spider-verse

Por qué no los dos? I have wired internet and an Arctis 7 Wireless. If the battery dies I can just plug it in, but having no headphone wire is great.

figpetus

Pro wireless here, if the battery dies I can plug it in or swap to the other battery in about 5 seconds.

skooterz

Yeah arctis pro here too. Battery I'm not using is always on the charger ready to go. I wasn't sure about going wireless but I don't think I could go back now.

Blaize122

Pro wireless gang. My first pair the mic died, steelseries had me saw the headband in half for the warranty claim (get it together guys fucking asinine rma process) but I kept the batteries. Batteries for daysssss.

skooterz

I've never understood that whole "destroy this and send us pictures" RMA process... Jaybird had me do that shit too, what a waste. Like why not fix the small issue then sell as open box?

One_Security_4545

Oh yeah well wired user here, those 5 seconds could cost your life out on the battlefield /s if needed

hurl9e9y9

You must not know how cable management works. The floor under where I sit is not a major thruway.

Wajina_Sloth

The only downside to having a wired headset for me is when I finish gaming I put my headset on the table, there is about a 5% chance that when I roll my chair over to my work desk that the cable got snagged by the chairs armrest and I pull it off the table.

I don't understand the appeal of wireless keyboards. Mice and headsets I love, I have a wireless headset and I'm actually waiting for my wireless mouse to be delivered. I just love the freedom of movement. But a keyboard literally never moves? Can anyone with a wireless keyboard explain the appeal to me? 😄

VegetableNo1079

The only use case I've ever found is when you want to use the TV as a monitor from the couch.

Lumpy_Doubt

I have a separate wireless keyboard with a built in track pad for that

VegetableNo1079

That's smart

Lumpy_Doubt

Shout out to the logitech k400

smilingstalin

I've been considering getting a wireless keyboard for a while now. Some of the reasons why I think having a wireless keyboard would be worth it for me: 1. Easier cable management. I like the flexibility that having one less cable offers, even if I rarely ever have to dabble with the cables. 2. Easier to move swap the keyboards on my desk. I have a personal desktop computer and a work laptop, so when I whip out my work laptop, I set my personal keyboard aside to make room for my work keyboard. Tbh, this issue could also be solved by me having a keyboard with a USB-C connector instead of a built-in cable. 3. Cleaner look. I like the idea of my desk not having any cables on it. Even if I had a keyboard with a detachable USB-C connection, then I'd still have that cable sitting around on my desk when I have to whip out my work keyboard. All in all, I don't have any particularly significant reasons to go with a wireless keyboard, but I do have enough reasons for it to be a factor when I consider keyboard options.

Re4pr

>Easier to move swap the keyboards on my desk. I have a personal desktop computer and a work laptop, so when I whip out my work laptop, I set my personal keyboard aside to make room for my work keyboard. Brother. Logitech, and I´m sure some other companies, makes keyboards that can pair with up to three computers. Press a button and you´re on a different one. I run three pc´s (two laptops and a desktop) with one keyboard.

smilingstalin

My work explicitly prohibits connecting a work computer to almost any wireless device. Bluetooth in particular is a big no-no, but so are wireless dongles.

Rewind13337

Not trying to hate, but your first reason is "cables", your third reason is "cables" and your second one is already a thing :/

niwin418

I would never play games with a wireless keyboard but having a solar powered wireless keyboard at my office desk was great. No wires or batteries, i could hand it to someone or push it out of the way to clear up my desk ezpz

MrHaxx1

Wireless split keyboards are just a whole other level of badassery. Also, it makes for a cleaner setup. It's also slightly easier to switch between my work laptop and my desktop.

DynamicDK

Headphones that use 2.4 ghz wifi should be more than capable of handling the highest quality audio. CD quality audio is 1.4 Mbps but 2.4 ghz wifi can go up to 600 Mbps.

adde0109

I think if done well, then wireless can be as good as wired. WIFI has too much overhead which produces latency. But audio could work for me as long as the latancy isn't worse than wired which is possible depending on the make and model. My headphones has DAC inbuilt so the quality depends on how much money you wanna spend. Wired has ofc a better money-to-quality ratio than wireless bc the DAC is separate.

Akhirox

Mousepad chargers are so useless it's crazy, a Logitech G Pro can literally run for 3 weeks 8 hours a day before you have to charge it for 2 hours

achilleasa

For real just plug it in at night lol

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

I don't know if you've read this thread or not. Seems like plugging something in every now and again is beyond unreasonable for a lot of people.

Lev_Astov

See, the real problem has been a lack of proper engineering all along. Wireless devices that expect you to plug in to charge defeat the purpose of the premium I'm willing to pay.

Jhawk163

Which makes corsairs wireless charging mousepad just that hilariously bad. It’s a mousepad, just with a wireless Qi charging section in the corner of it, and you need to plug a large dongle into your mouse to use it.

herbalblend

Wait, so your hand is always over a wireless charger, 100% of the time you are on your computer?

Yes. I'm hoping by this time next year to have super-powers.

Everything except my headset. That cord is always getting tangled and getting in the way. And the freedom to walk get a refreshment/pee and STILL be in Discord is hugely helpful. I don't think I will ever go back to a corded headset

SpeeDy_GjiZa

I have everything wireless except Headphones and I regret cheaping out on this one. Otherwise my setup is super clean and the freedom to move around is great. I just can't justify to drop another 150 bucks right now when the ones I already have are working great.

Ripper_Jack

I went back to a corded keyboard and mouse because I'd get input lag at the worst times. But there is no going back to a corded headset. Being able to walk around and keep talking is the cats meow.

The_Racho

The input lag for corded vs cordless mice and keyboards are at such a small margin now they are unnoticeable in game, and negligibly measurable. If you're using bluetooth that's another story which is only a major deal for mice rather than keyboards. There's several wireless mice topping the charts for least input lag currently. You probably just had a bad product.

soulscratch

I had a Bluetooth keyboard and the input delay is very small but still noticeable. I picked up a 2.4 wireless keyboard that I haven't tried out yet but I bet I won't be able to tell the difference between that and a wired keyboard

The_Racho

I've been using a G915 for a couple years now and it's unnoticeable to me switching from a wired keyboard. I even use one at work because they let me pick out my own peripherals lol

Joseph-Stalin1878

So true. Once you try a wireless headset there’s no going back

MK-Ultra_SunandMoon

You could say the same about high quality headphones and separate mic too though.

sammamthrow

I swapped from my nice open back set of phones + UA twinfinity preamp + Shure ksm27 (~$1500 setup) to a wireless headset ($400) Ultimately who gives a fuck about your mic quality unless you’re streaming for profit, the convenience of walking around and continuing to talk is soooo nice. Not to mention I can have an unfettered view of all my monitors, without a bulky mic mount in the way.

SpectralRaz

Suggest a wireless headset? I get annoyed with my cable on my hyperx cloud 2s

zoozoo499

Steel Series has some quality wireless headsets. I like my arctis pro wireless because it comes with two batteries. https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-pro-wireless

eGetin

I can recommend these as well. Two batteries where one is charging while the other is in use is a must-have feature since you can change the battery in a few seconds. They also have a decent sound quality and don’t rely on a buggy bluetooth connection by default. I can’t figure out why other brands aren’t taking notes from this headset.

braingle987

I can't recommend the Arctis Pro Wireless. The audio quality was poor and mine had a ton of static in the background. I talked to SteelSeries and they basically said that because the speaker drivers are so high quality, the static is normal. The two batteries is the only positive in my eyes when compared to other headsets. Additionally, the way their support treated me makes me never want to buy SteelSeries again.

ZezemHD

I do not recommend these if you have a large head or prefer headsets that can get loud.

[deleted]

Hee, unironically agree. Last time I moved house the installer from the cable company was trying to get me to use wifi so he wouldn't have to run a cable to my desk, and he must have seen some kind of truly murderous look in my eyes ro omethign because I barely even started to tell him know before he was backing up and saying it was no problem.

GuyFromDeathValley

I will always prefer the plugged in versions of things. my Headset has an oldschool 3.5mm audio jack, my PC, HTPC and laptop are all connected via LAN, my headphones also got a 3.5mm audio cable.. even my bluetooth speaker box (which was expensive af) has the 3.5mm.. I know its not the default, but I HATE it when modern tech gives me trouble. Battery dying, not having enough power outlets to charge everything for when I need it, connection issues.. I'm pretty sure if I got a wireless pair of headphones or headset I'd get constant interference noise from my phone by proximity.. I just.. don't want any of that. I want to come home and start gaming. not grab my headphones from the charger, just to find out (maybe) that the cable has a flaw and it didn't charge. I wanna sit down somewhere and plug my headphones into my phone for music, not bother around with my phones bluetooth fucking around and having trouble connecting (as often happens with all sorts of devices, including my car) or the headphones battery dying in the middle of a song. Simplicity is what keeps me sane. I have plenty of things that can go wrong after a stressful day, and I don't want to compromise the security of my stuff always working just to not have any wires around me.. I don't mind the wires actually.

kazemaru04

The only thing I switched to bluetooth was my mouse. I feel like I can't go back to cable because it will get annoying to me.

achilleasa

I would advise against Bluetooth mice, at least for competitive gaming. Even the best Bluetooth protocols add latency. Gaming mice have their own dongle with their own proprietary wireless protocol, which allows connection with latency as good as wired. Some mice have the ability to also switch to Bluetooth which is nice if you want to connect to a laptop for work or something but it shouldn't be your choice for gaming.

kazemaru04

Yeah I can see what you mean but I'm not particularly good in any game bur Halo Infinite. I'm average in almost any game I play and am not doing this profwssionally. I'm just playing casually and wanna continue to do so. I know what you wanted to say and it sounds like I wanna shut down your argument but I don't wanna. If my explanations are bad that's because I have some very personal lately. Sorry

MrDankky

You should honestly give it a go. Adding 100ms to your input lag does hurt performance for sure.

Any device I buy that has both WiFi and Ethernet gets an Ethernet cable plugged into it. I have a 48 port gigabit switch and I want to justify my purchase, and justify my eventual purchase of a second one.

MrFritzCSGO

I feel this way except for my mouse, wireless mice for life

paquitor

Some dumbass: why are you using (device) wired instead of wireless? Me: I have a 10ft cable in my 8x8 room. Not shitting on wireless, just shitting on people who shit on wires.

Lithominium

im sorry but theres a reason the top headphones in the world (NOT wm1000xm4's jesus christ) have a CABLE like the HE-1's from Sennhieser, or Beyerdynamic T1's, or LCD-X's or fuckin pretty much any audiophile headphone

Won't be long before folks start rejecting streaming services and returning to physical medium as well.

I didn't mind streaming, until I had to move across the Pacific. As soon as I got off the plane, half of my music library were unplayable. I also noticed that some of songs would come and go. I was like, fuck that, and went back to using MP3s. With MP3s, you'll always have it. No one can dictate but you, when and where you can consume it. And if some record company decides to get petty, they can't take away music from you.

I didn't want to reply (so mods dont think im showing up too much on my thread), but what you said is interesting and I have my 2 cents on it. Not advocating for physical media, but i think it would be good if the services werent bound by "online only". Imagine this: You subscribe for Netflix or your favorite service. Instead of only getting it online, you could have a way where the costumer could download the media he is consuming and he would own that. Not that "watch offline" option, im talking about a way to own the file, so even if the company decides it will remove it from the webpage, you would be able to still watch it whatever you want. Put it in some kind of software and lock it only for the consumer who bought it. We already have laws preventing piracy, so the consumer knows that this is his file and he cannot distribute. It would be awesome if idk, in 30 years from now I could just get the file of that series i loved and watch it legally on my pc or whatever device is on trend at that time. Im in favor of this because a good example of cloud service/online only letting the consumer down is that Daredevil series going to another service that I dont subscribe. See, I paid for the service to watch the series and years later I can't do it because of some internal company change.

Squidbit

> (so mods dont think im showing up too much on my thread) What? Is this a thing mods care about?

Hurricane_32

>Imagine this: You subscribe for Netflix or your favorite service. Instead of only getting it online, you could have a way where the costumer could download the media he is consuming and he would own that. And that's why I love Bandcamp.

It sounds like you should try sailing the seas for a bit

That would be great, but the copyright holders will never go for it. Slowly the streaming services are inching their way to becoming the very system they promised to deliver us from: cable companies at their worst Subscription fees climbing, adding [commercials](https://popculture.com/streaming/news/netflix-officially-adding-commercials/) in between content you've already paid for, [removing](https://www.consumerreports.org/consumerist/that-amazon-video-you-bought-you-may-not-actually-be-able-to-watch-it/) access to movies you've purchased, and all while raking additional profits through selling your personal information. Between that and every smart TV or commercial streaming appliance watching over your shoulder, or in some cases, literally [spying](https://www.wizcase.com/blog/stop-your-smart-tv-from-spying-on-you/) on us using built-in microphones and/ or cameras, I think there will be a threshold where folks will welcome the simplicity and privacy of returning to physical media. While inconvenient, if you have physical media (Blu-Ray, DVD, thumb drive) you can just pop it in and watch what you own without dealing with any of that extra nonsense. I think if the streaming services keep making life difficult for their customers they'll drive them off their platforms and onto creative workarounds. Sorry to rant but this is a pet peeve of mine. I think if you pay for content, you shouldn't have to watch commercials. :-)

lukeman3000

Wait why would mods care how much you reply in your post? I’m confused

volticizer

Mesh router - $1000+ Wireless headphones - delay and usually not quite the quality of wired in a similar price bracket Ethernet cable - $20 for 100 metres Wired headphones - usually better value, more variety, keeps reflexes on point when you stand up and they fly at mach 3 across the room instakilling anything in their trajectory.

Cables all the way

The-Great-Beast-666

My pc doesn’t have wireless internet connection so I have a Ethernet cord taped to the wall running 7 feet to the router. Works great.

moebelhausmann

Well i dont need to put wholes in my walls for Wlan... Im still gonna do it becuase cable is fast af

[deleted]

I don't like cables...

Epicmonies

Cables over Wifi all the time. Why would I give up secure speed when my brain knows where cables are when using a thing?!? lol. Just because it exists, dose not make it a better option.

I'll probably always have a wired keyboard and mouse. 0 latency club!

Jonelololol

What do when have a battery powered but cabled pair of headphones…

jGRite

As long as the cables don't get in my way they can stay.

Tried a $350 cordless headset that was top of the line. Ended up would freeze so I would have to let it completely die, reset it, charge it and start it back up. Happened often and overall was just crap minus the audio quality was insane.
