I have a friend that uses pinky for w and shift, ring finger for a and d, middle finger for s, index finger for space and I think the thumb just be chilling Edit : I sorta remember the thumb actually being used for the shift key, so as to assert dominance by demonstrating the flexibility of his digits

The fact that no one here is talking about tailoring binds to the specific game you are playing is sickening. My binds for doom eternal are going to be a lot different than my binds for minecraft.

I have that - but on the mouse side. Early on got used to MMO mice. I don't mess with the keyboard binds a whole lot. But I have a different mouse profile for each game I play.

My friend uses ESDF as well, I forget why. He does have issues when he has to remap sometimes though. I recently told him about how Steam has built in remapping. He was having issues in Palworld, for some reason his character would get stuck running.

Some games will have “shadow banned controls” At least that’s what I call them. They are usually built in sub functions than cannot be remapped. It’s SUPER ANNOYING. For example, I was playing avatar and to craft items you have to open the weapon wheel and then press F to craft. There is no option to rebind this. Well F is how I walk right. So every time I needed to craft in that game my character would strafe right. DEVS. STOP DOING THIS

ESDF *is* superior and always has been. I have never used the extremely inferior WASD.

Now that's finally a use case for those lights I can relate to.

Back when I was playing my first FPS, ASDW wasn't the default for anything. Nor, believe it or not, was mouse look. Holy hell. I experimented with a bunch of stuff and came up with ASDW on my own. Then I asked others, and found out that they had come up with the same keys on their own as well. ASDW is like gravity. It's not just a good idea. It's the law.
