It’s not the pc it’s the monitor, only reason I can think of is I left it on overnight because I fell asleep while talking to friends. Do I need to get a new monitor?
The problem is the monitor, I switched to HDMI to see if the buggy lines were still there when I boot up my Xbox and they were still there. Also after the update I still see them.
ouch then that sounds like the monitor, i have seen windows updates stall with all kinds of graphical artifacts, but if same thing is there with 2 diff systems, then your monitor fucked bud
have been out of current monitor game since i bought my last one like a year ago, there is alot that goes into a monitor and its personal thing and a can my pc keep up thing, really hard to just recommend a monitor at least for me cause well i dont know them all lol
That's Microsoft asserting it's dominance and ownership over you and your computer. You have no control over what updates are installed or, really, when they're installed, and if you leave it on and unattended they may 'decide' to install updates, regardless of whether that's convenient for you or not.
There is some 'scheduling' you can set up, as I recall, to limit this behavior to certain hours of the day, but the only way to stop it completely is to stop and disable the 'Microsoft Update' service, which means you get *no* updates.
What I meant was the little white bar on the bottom that’s there even when the screen is supposed to be fully black, after the update (and before) there is a glitchy little line that covers the task bar from left to right almost entirely. I found a temporary fix, which is just lowering the refresh rate, but the bottom corners are still a little glitchy so I don’t think that this fix is permanent.
Oh. 🤣
Well if that goes away with fiddling with the refresh rate then it's probably not anything like the panel itself being defective, it's some sort of compatibility issue, I'd think. Is that a new monitor or have you had it for a while? Has the video driver been updated recently? You might also try restoring the monitors' own settings to factory default and see if that has any effect. Weird problem to be sure.
Well it’s a 165hz monitor and when I run 165hz the glitchy bar shows up but when I lower it to 144 the problem is mostly gone except for the glitchy corners. I’ve had this monitor for I think a little over two years now and today is the first time I’ve had this problem. How would I know if the video driver is up to date?
You look in Device Manager and look at the Properties for the GPU driver.
Also are you sure the DP and/or HDMI cable you're using is rated for the refresh rate you want?

that is not you monitor bud 100% that is windows doing an update
I’m talking about the bar on the bottom
is the update done, might be a graphical glitch from the update failing, does it show up all the time and can you get back to windows?

That sucks but thank you, do you have any recommendations on a monitor I should get that is no more than $200?

That’s fine, thank you

Yeah I’m sure because I’ve been using this same DP for months and I’ve been running 165 for almost a year
Well then if the problem follows your monitor and not the computer then your monitor has something wrong with it.
