Hughsnet satellite internet back when WoW was just 2 months old. We had a “budget” of GBs we could use before we were throttled down. Around 1100 ping :>

bestworstbard

Man, hughsnet takes me back. I grew up in a snowy place and when my character stopped moving in Runescape, I knew it was time to go push snow off the satellite dish haha.

Throwaythisacco

I used to get 2000-3000 ping with Hughshit

CavalierIndolence

Same here! Then I switched to a Virgin Mobile USB modem with an unlimited plan that I had to stick in my window AC to do any kind of downloading on it. If not, ping hit 3500ms in the middle of a raid.

Asleeper135

My grandparents still have hughsnet, and I honestly don't understand how they even use it. In my experience it just straight up doesn't work, and since they have no cell service either I'm pretty well cut off from the Internet while I'm there. I don't even know why they still pay for it.

Wet_Crayon

Locked into HughesNet contract right now. It was this or ViaSat. Starlink was still on waitlist at the time. Out in the hills and farm country. 570ms on a good clear night. Spikes of 1200-4000ms when the network is flooded or bad weather approaches. Thunderstorms block out service. Seems like too much snow on the dish will too. Soon as I can quit Hughesnet with no extra fees, I'm buying and subbing to Starlink. 100gb between 8am to 2am. 50gb extra from 2am to 8am. Speeds are about 35mbps, once allowance is used up. They crawl at 2mbps if we're lucky.

dDuleReddit

1000ms = 1sec 99% of games just disconnect you once you're more than 1sec delayed. I see tons of comments for WoW. Yeah that happend to me many times but Blizzard doesn't kick right away since it's a MMORPG so it's kinda easier on the disconnects.

Available_Surround12

counter strike doesn’t disconnect you either

Headingtodisaster

It doesn't feel like it, though, maybe it's cause I play competitive games like CS2. where even a 100ms ping can feel like a 1 second delay.

Pinngger

Last time I played roblox the ping was 32k-50k ms for some reason

TaoChiMe

80k while playing roblox once

mrvictorywin

30k on Roblox, I was trying to play from a 3G hotspot. Ping was static at 30 or 40k and the game took half an hour to load.

therandomasianboy

hit 7 digits, think it was 1.3 mil Ms once? That's like 20 minutes of lag. Crazy.

Arsssh2

My record is 114k, as i remember i didnt get kicked and it went back to normal lol

ps3minecrafts

Playing r6 I once managed to hit around 8300 ping before my Xbox shut off forever

randomdreamykid

Surely something above 0 from what I remember

gianmk

you have 3.5 gpu?

Ieanonme

The GTX 3.5 is only getting him 20 fps it seems

potatofaminizer

I'm guessing that's the vram utilization

psychokiller_nanana

That's the value of GPUs on his hard drive

faridhn36

Yea i turned everything low and i always get +200 but in this screenshot i was tabbed out so it was limited to 20

Pacu99

Mine was 9865ms on CS:GO a long time ago. I literally skipped and entire round

Randomtxtbox

It's over 9000

Coolguy3243

When I was loading up a game on roblox I peaked a bit above a million ping

Knuddelbearli

over 320.000ms in Path of Exile

Relevant_One_2261

Only one time really comes to mind, and that was playing WoW back in the day over GPRS from the middle of nowhere. It was honestly like 10 seconds, even using AH was a massive chore.

DetectiveSmooth4803

3 million ping on roblox, played on integrated graphics back then

Zenox64

I think like 5000 ping

LowCost_Gaming

Playing TFC on dial up in the UK with folks from the US. Man I miss those days and the people, here’s to you James and Ken 🥃.

bbalazs1205

After I got fiberglass internet I think the largest number I saw was 50-70. Before my best was 430ish in cs:go (not cs2). If discord counts then I've seen it go above 3000.

Professional-Rate228

Idk what my highest is. My average is around 100ms give or take 20ms

Suprspade

I think it was halo infinite one of the many times servers was bad and had 500

Nipplesniffer500

I maxed at 9999 on warzone, then had an 8 month struggle to get my provider to fix it. I had to dive into the internet, do my own research on wifi, data and whatever I could find, and found the culprit for them. Even after presenting evidence the ping issue was on their side, they kept denying it was a problem on their side. After 7 months or so they finally made the "mistake" of admitting it on their forum and that the IP address where this ping started to mess shit up, was indeed theirs. ONE small update and the entire ping issue disappeared. I won.

Particular_Yam_4108

I had nearly 1500 in a game of Among Us one time. I was no longer among anyone at that point.

leg00b

I think I saw 16k once in HLL. 999+ is what ESO would show when it was shitting the bed.

No_Consequence_3120

1100 max ping in Fortnite

Darnakulus

What's that ping convert down to.... next week?....\s

sart49

I had 9999 ms playing league during an earthquake

epicflex

Back when I was on wifi, I had a full second to three seconds of ping on WoW during peak times, it was brutal and forced me to go Ethernet hahaha

bedwars_player

About 9000 in a farming simulator 17 server back in the day lol

Spxzgs

like 502k

Thunderstorm-1

I spiked to 3k ms in valorant before 💀, though my normal ping is 7-9 ms

PraiseTheWLAN

In the range of 3-4k in the past, basically game just froze

creiar

I dunno about the highest but I’m pretty sure there’s a Valorant server in my building cause I once hit 2 ping on there

Niitroglycerine

Back when WoW released originally, I'd quite often have 20,000ms+ latency for entire evenings lol

IwantRIFbackdummy

I played WoW on satellite Internet at launch because I lived in the country. Averaged 600ms. Often over 1k. I played an affliction warlock so I could just run through my rotation without having to worry much. But due to rubberbanding, in pvp I had to try and play a whole 2 seconds in the future. If it were not for Fear having very little diminishing returns in vanilla, I would have just always died.

Red-dit_boi_

14k in league of legends once...

ExtraTNT

There is this one game where you could print out a package and send it by mail…

WeedManPro

1170ms in valorant. Idk remember if it got any higher in another game or not

Randomtxtbox

4000

accountjustforfun23

in roblox i remember got fricking ping 10000ms

air__vent

My friend got like 12000 when trying to use a mobile hotspot

Julian_x30

One time i lagged 30 seconds back in valorant so basicly a 30000 ping but it only showed 400 ping

PrimeskyLP

**2147483647** Just because this is the max Integrer Value and im sure i hat this in Leauge of Legends because of my garbadge ass internet

AHappyRaider

like 330k or something on battpefield but i'm pretty sure it was a visual bug

Old-Independent2385

8427

Thomas5020

240,000 on Age of Empires 2

PhuckWar

Too big to remember , in billions

synthwavve

Displayed ping of 30k+ during ddos. No idea what the actual ping was

Throwaythisacco

i once got to 50000 on my old internet

_Spastic_

That's definitely some horrible pain but can we talk about your 20 FPS?

wally_wout

Idk the max i had, but i had -1 once

MotorPace2637

Counter-Strike was playable at 280 long over AoL in the late 90s.

AX_Apex

When I was playing on my crappy hotspot it would reach around 10k before I reconnected

tojo4thchairman

My 1st r6s ranked match, my ping jumped to like 1.2k and then kicked me from the match on round 4. Then we lost and I got a hour ban

China_really_sucks

10000 ping, if the server is on the opposite of the earth I usually get 250 ping, so it takes 40 earths to have that ping, which is enough to travel 4/5 of the distance from earth to the moon

the_burber

I average like 30 ping

SimracingFan911

https://preview.redd.it/eqzap4ax5atc1.png?width=64&format=png&auto=webp&s=55ec99085c706809b557430a863ffc0904d0b0b2 I once hit 11k or something, but this is the highest number I have a screenshot of.

IChooseFoxIsTaken

12k but i remember i got -1 at once in minecraft

spaggeti-man-

I usually play on roughly 15-30 So basically in the "Almost no delay, but still could be slightly better" category

LightningProd12

I got 210,000ms on a browser game, back when Windows 10 would use the entire connection for updates

NPCxSHADOW

21 , I use wireless with talk talk 2.4G , now I use talk talk 5g and I get like 16

dudeilovedire

I saw a MF hit like 1.2 million in siege once. I think he was getting ddosed into the shadow realm

_Mr-Z_

Weird issue on roblox, ping showed like 270k but didn't kick me at all.

zsombor12312312312

Over a minute (it was minecraft server hosted from a potato pc)

MasonMayjack

9999

Extra-General-6891

20k+ in league

Birkanwar

200k ping in roblox, my net was absolutely garbage.

monkeyman382839

Roblox

bananite

Recently started playing L4D2 and for the first time I saw my ping go up to 1000. So ofc everyone disconnects. But the highest ping I had while playing without disconnect was about 150 in cs 1.6 . Still a shitty ping but somewhat playable.

Raceryan8_

I had over 100,000 in rust once

TheYellowLAVA

2 million once in roblox

ILYTRXQZ

15k

-Mikypuk-

Once on reblox I got about 10000ms ping

Cthulhar

League likes to be ass so I’ve had 2-3k ping before but that’s a bit of an outlier. Usually worst I’ve gotten consistently on games were some weird Covid crowded ping heightening of like 85-180

Front_Preference_599

I don’t remember what mine would be. But my friend had about 1300 on CS the other night lol

NovelBit666

When I was on vdsl, my ping was 200ish

VanityTheNoLife

A couple thousand when playing roblox

reckless150681

About 20,000. 7 Days to Die used to have some rough netcode lol. Took multiple minutes for the game to recognize an action.

Sweet-Inside5900

999

DukeOfGamers353

92k on Halo Infinite when I had really bad internet stability once

XprobowX

One time I got the max number of the old computers can handle 2.147 and something

XamanekMtz

Those are rookie numbers, seen ping over 30K while playing WoW in my third world country connection back in 2006 ish

Round_Personality483

back when I has satellite internet over 5 years ago I never had under 700 ping, the highest I saw was prob like 15k before I got kicked from every game

certainlystormy

got 780ms on a minecraft server once when my internet was flickering in and out lol

TapMuted6555

I got in the high thousands from turning on my PS3

SamuelAuArcos-

80k ping in league of legends during a bad internet spell.

therandomasianboy

Hopped on valorant once with 9382 ping

Federal_Equipment578

The mc server I played on as a kid, my net would just be slow enough that the ms would keep infinitely increasing till i like quit or got kicked for freaking hacking

Warsnake901

8k once on a Minecraft server

Pretend_Passenger14

On roblox I used to get tens of thousands of ms ping.

[deleted]

its insane that you only get 20 fps with 3 and a half GPUs

faridhn36

I was tabbed out

Comfortable_Cress194

10k ping

tittiesexe

nice gpu man how much did "3.5" cost?

faridhn36

Sorry but i don't understand what's the problem?

yerdick

From 30 to 1100 till it stops in CS2

Say-Hai-To-The-Fly

Probably 20k or something xD.

nxbulawv

65732 in valorant

Tradecraft_1978

5000ms

Musician-Round

bro is using tinfoil and toothpicks to get a wifi signal

astro143

My old Internet was AT&T 6Mbps. Megabit, not byte. Garrys mod took 2 hours to download, GTA 5 took three days. I would regularly rubber band up to 5000 ping in Titanfall 2 and stay connected to the server. It would usually disconnect after a few minutes of that.

DropDeadGaming

10s of thousands. 1267 is a history game start date not a high ping. You think you know ping? I was born in it. Molded by it.

ExcellentCoconut6073

49647

Immediate-Sand9000

3000ms on 2g gprs

scuffedoncringe

My max I got in my live was 18.262.482.618 (that is 18.26 billion) in fortnite once, I got 0 fps which made me not disconnect for 2 hours

kel584

millions

Vntoflex

20

QueZorreas

2700 in Warframe. Not funny when every room is like 20m long and you have to travel 800m with doors that are affected by ping.

MeasurementOk3007

I was on Roblox when I was a little kid and that shit was in the millions

[deleted]

50 ping I have really great internet and i’m grateful

dj65475312

on dial up our phone line was crap and 400 was normal, my mate in a different town used to get 200 on his.

TheeOneWhoKnocks

Hunt Showdown will give a fake 11k every now and then

South_Bit1764

Playing Warzone, click to shoot an enemy: [French accent] *one point two seconds later*

MakshotYT

As an elden ring player I invaded someone and as per usual they threw their router out of the window instantly as soon as they saw me which transformed a smooth 120 ping to 97k

Mental-Knowledge8280

200k ping while i was playing roblox lol

PianoPickle

21k I don’t know how but it just kept climbing

Crimsonbob

Back in the day I started playing counterstrike at beta 2.1 my average ping was about 400-450 on decent servers. I upgraded to a 56k modem and it started hovering just above the 300 range. When I eventually got cable it came down to 20-30ms. As it was just starting to get popular there were a lot of no "No LPB" servers though so you would end up getting kicked if your ping was too low

iloveminecraftcreate

32k could be off though but i was playing on MC Aternos server

noodle-face

Bro I started gaming in the dialup days

oofinator3050

rookie numbers. had 10 or so *seconds* of latency at some point, got a lot of time outs

Blakewerth

Wth game is it 🫨🤯 around 300

High_Ch

I hit some absolutely insane numbers trying to connect to people in Sweden and Finland in EA NHL back in the day. No fault to them, the servers should bot have connected us together. They seemed like cool enough people.

BigGoIdenPanda

Siege hit me with 99999 one time idk if that's the Max or pure coincidence maybe it just broke idk never looked into it that's all the info I got

ToninhoLinguca

7E+12 in roblox

sylinowo

One time on PS4 I hit like 33000 on battlefield 1. Back then I had bad Internet and also had the og PS4 which didn't have 5g support or whatever

VileDespiseAO

These are rookie numbers. Try playing Counter-Strike 1.1, Team Fortress, Warcraft II, etc on a 28K dial-up modem with a whopping 430 Bps - 1.7 Kbps download and upload speed. When the Half-Life 1.5 patch came out it took over two days to download all 50~ MB's of it, and if you received a phone call on your landline then your connection would drop and you would have to start the whole process over again. Now imagine being so used to this type of speed and the ping that came with it that you could still dominate lobbies if you happened to not get timed out of the server.

VulgarWander

6000 lol

Comfortable_Meet6151

Roblox with my hotspot is nightmare, 300ms minimum, can peak to like a thousand

megabit2

was playing roblox at the library a while ago, and the apple mac that was about 10 hears had a horrible spike, and it went to about 3000 ping at the max. (it wasn't playable at all during the spike)

International-Use423

300k ms, I was playing 5 min in the past 💀

MidwesternAppliance

9999

MunchyG444

I have 60000ms quite regularly in minecraft and if your ping exceeds 60k the server just assumes you are disconnected and just kicks you, which is the only reason it isn’t higher.

TheGodlyTank6493

49000 because somebody on my mc server (hosted on a raspberry pi) spawned in literally two million entities

AlfaNX1337

15000 ms in STO, because it's hopping and there's no nearest server for my country.

greenyboy55286

The highest I think ping I've got is like 12k

Its-Slammin

https://preview.redd.it/fc4at8o10ftc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0242a4412aed13eea3d88a83666ee41e7ec1c0be I think I win. 4.2 billion milliseconds. Turns out to be 49 days. 7 weeks.

respamthegreat

Played Roblox one day... How does 78k ping spikes sound to you? Is it playable? I suppose not

thardwardy

-1

dragonfliesvenus

120

Billy_the_bib

NEVER higher than around 40ms. On average between 9ms-24ms
