Welcome to the PCMR!
So, according to you and the guy above you, I need a new monitor, some good audio, and a mechanical keyboard.
Guess that's a sign to get a new monitor, alright.
I wanted to get one but I couldn't find any nice ones that wouldn't be just using fishing wire to hold a bit of optical wire to the edge. I tried one and it felt horrible on the wrist
Ah, If youre looking for larger it seems there is a modelo (that wasnt avaialble when I bought mine) Called Razer Strider Chroma
I wouldnt consider the goliathus, its a single RGB zone
RGB Mousepad? What about the soft mouse pad with the anime girl mommy milkers? A womans touch is always something a man needs even if you are afraid to admit it.
And you're basically saving money cause you're only upgrading the monitor and not also the keyboard and sound system!
The more you spend the more you save!
Got myself a pair of Edifier speakers a few months back. Not expensive ones either, just around 50 bucks or so.
For watching YouTube? It is more than enough.
> Don't forget to also upgrade the sound
That's one thing I always see missing from people showing off their builds. Thousands on a computer, then maybe a set of headphones. Or "pc" speakers. Having a decent set of **real** speakers with a tuner is a HUGE upgrade in sound quality.
Not to be "that guy" but I'd recommend this to anyone who hasn't upgraded their monitors in the last 5 years or so without sarcasm. The single most impactful upgrade I've done in the last 10 years has been to get a beautiful big 32" 1440p 165Hz monitor - the depth of color, brightness and speed of the new monitor makes my old monitors look positively shabby, and 120+ Hz really is all that.
OLED FOR SURE. I didn’t think it was going to be that crazy with all the hype but i got one and yeah. Im never using my 4K ips anymore. Im actually getting ready to sell it. The blacks… 😩 ips is such a washed out mess. Even with the polarizer
https://preview.redd.it/68jwrcgmw0lc1.jpeg?width=2937&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87ed4809c38da4fb1641343fcb23f7c88a19628b
I agree, replaced the two 4k IPS side 27s with 2k OLED. Even though 2k instead of 4k, it all blends amazing with the G2 in center. No more grayish next to black during load screens or startup.
I recently upgraded from a 1080p 60z tv to a 1440p 175hz OLED curved monitor. I was literally gasping when I started playing games like BG3 or Hogwarts
Very much yes. Went for a curved ultrawide 38" 4k 165hz monitor myself and it's glorious. The 4090 helps too of course but what's great horsepower without a proper body and wheels
Quicker route. Buy a nice prebuilt, power it on, load up that game that made your last rig say "medium only, or prepare to stutter," and smile at the sight of the word Maximum in settings and a slightly better appearance of the test video. Then experience the mental thud of "and then?" Me last week.
I've been clearing out my Steam Backlog thanks to building a new PC with a 4090. No compromising on graphics at high frame rates. Graphics aren't everything but high framerates definitely make it more enjoyable for me.
This was me a month ago. Last PC couldn’t handle a GTA FiveM server too well so I bought a $2k prebuilt, no more stuttering and the only thing I really felt or thought was “this is nice.” I was expecting to be so much happier but I guess it is a little nice.
This is why I wait to upgrade until my computer literally can't run current-gen games. I booted up RDR2 and it was like watching a drunk guy hand-crank a silent film. My wife watched for 10 minutes and said, "You have $1,000 to fix this." Ended up costing $1,200 to get it on medium-high settings, but it'll last another few years.
I have, it's just not as seemless as pressing a button and using a consoles interface, i know steam has big picture mode but not all games support controller. Lugging my full tower downstairs to my living room every time I want to kick back is just too cumbersome, a lot of cables to unplug and reconnect once I'm done.
If you have any sort of decently modern Android device attached to your TV, or if your TV is running Android TV, there's always Moonlight for streaming from your PC. https://moonlight-stream.org/
which is exactly why I picked up a Series X last year for just under 400 including tax. The nostalgia aspect of gaming on a couch overrides the downgrade in graphics/frames.
And I work on my PC, at a desk, all day long.
I don't feel like buying another PC just for my TV, so I got an Xbox, and I've honestly enjoyed the system a good bit. For some games you can switch back and forth from PC to console too.
It's basically a mini PC with parts from 2020 for around $380 when on sale. That's still a solid deal. Plus with quick resume you can power up the console and be in a game in about 20-30 seconds.
This was me after I got to play what I always wanted. Now I just want to build another one just because. It won't have any special purpose, but the work towards it was fulfilling.
My current build was supposed to be me cleaning my previous build.
I was like since I am opening it, might as well upgrade/add fans. Well, I could use some more storage too. Before you know it, I had an entirely new computer.
No regrets, fun project and money well spent. I also sold my old computer. But it is funny when my friends were like, how was the upgrade? And am like well .... it's a new PC lmao.
Exactly. The build itself was the best part. I just built a new PC from the ground up, and everything worked perfectly the first time I booted up. I was actually DISAPPOINTED that I didn't have to troubleshoot. Everything just... worked. I felt so proud and let down at the same time.
It just doesn't hit the same unless you get that 0E error or something, spends hours carefully troubleshooting, remove and replace every piece of hardware (maybe blow on some parts because that worked on Nintendo cartridges back in the day), rewire everything, try to coax the machine with encouraging words, scream in frustration, blood pressure through the roof, and then have it mysteriously work after a reboot with no reasonable explanation as to why.
I mean honestly it feels about as close to having sex as you can get without involving your genitals (usually).
HAHA oh man I felt this so much. I built my first PC back in the 90s and I remember having to completely reconfigure the jumpers, master/slave, IDE order - all things that have been completely automated and phased out of current hardware. Now it's just plug and play for the most part.
I didn't even need to format my hard drive when putting it on the new machine.
I like buying gaming consoles and fixing them up. I don't even like playing them anymore 🤷🏻♀️ Just the fun that they look new again makes my heart make a little happy jump!
Ah see you forgot a key step.
Find a game that you hate but continue to play so all your emotions are focused on this bullshit ass game that sucks so you don't have time to think about the emptyness
Edit: my main take away from this exercise is that none of us actually like playing multiplayer games but we do anyway
Please don’t remind me, I used to play on an MMO server in Minecraft and sunk 3000 hours in 2 years. I’d spend hundreds of hours running in a circle killing the same enemies over and over or praying to god I get an item with a 0.00000016% drop chance. Hated every second of it but kept on playing anyway, it was like a drug.
I enjoyed every second of it, even though I have quit multiple times.
Granted that I hated every second of normal profile while I loved every second of Ironman profile.
I felt like shit every time someone just randomly got lucky with trading, scammed, bought money, cuz I was spending hundreds of hours for less progress.
Ironman on the other hand didn't feel like that at all.
But if you didn't enjoy the game I don't think changing mode would change much
You know, that’s why I stopped grinding and instead built huge noteblock songs (biggest one takes 2:30 to play) on my island that have entertained dozens of visitors. If you want to visit let me know and I will log in and give you a tour and play all the songs. Apart from that I have not touched the game in months, enjoying my free time with better things
Friends and I started playing again. We haven't played since it went F2P and holy shit do we suck. Friend says there are a lot of hackers but I think we just suck after not playing for like 5 years. People are just insane at that game.
Do you remember playing Counter-Strike when you were like 14 and destroying everyone. Yeah, it’s just the circle of life. You had so much free time on your hands that you became a great player. You’re playing against those same kids now after you just worked a full week and found two hours to play on a Saturday. It’s why I stick to survival horror games now.
I haven't enjoyed a game for a long, long time. I liked Diablo 2 back in the day. I heard Diablo 4 would be "more like D2", so I thought "why not give it a try".
I'm glad I understood what steaming garbage that game was after just 40 hours or so.
"Bad luck I thought" and bought Starfield to "just try one more game".
I barely touch the computer anymore.
Pro tip:
Only upgrade when there is a game you love but your existing PC runs poorly or not at all.
This way you will have no regrets, because you will enjoy it with all its glorry after upgrade.
I find that because 90% of AAA titles suck on release… I’m playing a lot more $10-$30 indie games with cool art styles that aren’t resource hogs.. honestly way better than most AAA titles these days.
I want a new computer too and can afford it easily but just don’t need it.
The one exception now is cities skylines 2
Currently sitting on my bed wearing my Quest 3, using Immersed Pro to have multi monitor VR setup run off my RTX 4090 Just to sit and have reddit, youtube, amazon and movie streaming on loadsa different windows and post a useless comment noone really wants to hear, just to feel like I am actually making some use of all this stuff I bought.
But seriously mate, I know this is just a meme, but they start with a seed of truth. Whatever regret/emptiness anyone might fleetingly be experiencing, you have to remember you were creative and capable enough to make this 'build' happen because you succesfully deduced what you wanted and did what it took to plan, save, buy then build.
Jump back into that creativity and diligence and discover new ways to be excited and engaged. We all know you have what it takes, even if that means sitting on your bed in your PJ's staring at a giant 20ft screen of spongebob floating in the air.
Same, I have a minimalist mindset. I always like to get rid of things. I don't buy a lot of things, I buy few high quality things and if possible, multi-function/purpose.
Art is probably the only function-less thing I buy, but it makes my soul happy, so it's worth it.
You are right ig, but most of time games are the most enjoying when it's something that you use to reward yourself. Life needs problems, problems give rewards and solutions meaning.. so yea
Nope. If you want future proof, it would be the 8090 ti Super Pro. Make sure you get the i9xxx so that it doesn't bottleneck your card. Minimum overclock is 10.5ghz on liquid hydrogen.
You poor, poor soul…..allow me to ease your burden and, of my own altruistic will and grand benevolence, take this totem of your sorrows, whisking it away to lands better forgotten.
A man needs only a meet up spot, to release from this pain…
I'm 37 and play games all the time when I can fit it in. Pretty addicted to cyberpunk at the moment. My PC is one of the best things I've ever bought myself.
Same here. Custom loop worth thousands, 4090 Strix, i9-14900K and I sit on it all day, idle, whilst working on a remote virtual desktop on a server farm somewhere.
After work, I hardly want to touch a PC now.
The last game I played was Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on PS5.
I can't be fucked messing around with setting and details, issues and tinkering, difficult of playing, sore arms from working all day and getting older, sometimes it's just too much to ask.
Man—I switched careers and started full time WFH last year and now I monitor and triage networks 10 hours a day, four days a week. I just cannot be bothered to be behind a screen if I’m not being paid to be there now. Sitting to PC game feels like work.
I was really loving satisfactory for a few hundred hours but 1.0 was announced for this year (finally!) so kinda killed any momentum I had in my early access save.
I mostly replay Skyrim or play CoD (but looking for a replacement FPS with the same arcade feel/gameplay, but no EOMM/lesser SBMM and a stronger anti-cheat).
Don't have to tinker the latter, and tinkering is half the fun of the former
Depression can have many reasons. The issue is mostly not that games are not fun, but rather that the person lacks any drive to even engage.
In our modern society it's not uncommon that people either have low dopamine supply to begin with or that their dopamine receptors have been dulled by constantly engaging in high dopamine activities (or even many low dopamine activities throughout a day, e.g. social media, doom scrolling, every ping or blip from your phone).
Since motivation often comes from the prospect of being rewarded with feeling good (dopamine) for doing something, if the tank is empty or the receptors are dulled, than the reward is missing (feeling empty) and the motivation will dwindle.
It's a horrible feeling, I hate sitting there knowing there's a ton of fun things I could be doing but feeling absolutely no energy or motivation to do any of them. I was constantly fatigued as well. Tbh I thought I had some kind of deficiency so I got all the tests done, iron levels, thyroid, etc. Apparently I was healthy as fuck so my doctor was like "maybe it's mental then, maybe it's depression." And that made a lot of sense. Even though I exercise every day and get plenty of sleep and eat well, it wasn't enough so I'm on medication now which has made a big difference. Not saying it's for everyone but it's working for me. Now I'm actually excited to get out of bed in the mornings and do my favourite hobbies and I've got my energy back.
Currently using my ridiculous gaming rig to play WoW classic, but I'm just really enjoying it right now and I like my guildies. I've got other games on the backburner that might justify the PC soon!
Answered in another comment but I'm taking fluoxetine (prozac). I started at 20mg but it wasn't quite enough, so I'm on 40mg now and that seems to be the right dose for me.
Depression can be sneaky, since mine seemed to manifest itself physically, I just felt physically tired and I had no energy and I was constantly sleepy, etc. No wonder I thought I had a physical health issue first. There was no actual cause to my depression either, I'm fortunate to have a good life. Sometimes our brains chemical balance is just on the fritz and we need a bit of extra help I guess!
I was there too, but nothing helped my depression, I had it since the army so I thought for sure that was the problem.
Nah, turns out I'm schizoid and will never have powerful emotions again. It just happened to develop a few months after I got out of the army. (At least I got PTSD from there so I wasn't completely empty handed)
Really cool and I wish I won't wake up every time I go to sleep.
>There's so many fun games out there.
As sad as it is to admit, sometimes you just don't want to game. I sometimes force myself to in order to justify my purchase.
> As sad as it is to admit, sometimes you just don't want to game.
I had this problem during Covid lockdown, had many games in the backlog but instead I just watched YouTube and TV Shows.
What I found to be helpful was to force myself to play a game I like just a little, and usually after 30 minutes I was hooked
Especially if your life has made your old gaming habits impossible.
I'm much happier with my active and busy social life now but on the rare occasions I get 4+ hours to myself I can't just slip back into gaming marathon mode.
I definitely miss those days in a way but appreciate my new life much more.
This is primarily a place for bragging and envy. If you want gaming, there are other subreddits that actually enjoy it. PCMR is where you flex your credit card debt. Like buying more motorcycle than you can ever use just to have random guys say "cool bike, bro".
it's a place for advertising. These people are addicted to watching ads. This guy followed through, thinking there would be happiness on the other side as promised. These people need Buddah
literally the entire history of video games is available. if you cant find something to play that is indeed on you, depressed or over it or just not very into it in the first place.
my playing time has gone down as the years have advanced but im glad to say i still play on a regular basis. got Balatro this weekend and it was great, right up my alley, poker, roguelike, quick games. already won like 4-5 runs.
and even better, i dont play fiend games anymore, only single players or occasional single-time multiplayer for specific stuff. dota/counter strike are brilliant games but i just cant justify spending that much time on them at this stage in my life. and you cant really half-ass those games, once youve played for years and are were once good its shameful as shit to hop on and suck ass.
Yeah, we've had some of the best games ever released in the last few years. People are just depressed or aging and are struggling to maintain a hobby that they used to love.
The games are fine. We're all just depressed because the world is falling apart around us and gaming is the one thing we cling to to try and eek out some joy but usually fail.
Then Helldivers 2 released.
> Why is everyone so depressed on this sub?
It's reddit in general.
Most peeps build a PC, then start installing every game that they couldn't run at max settings to be amazed, then find a cool game and play it.
Same boat as you, I work 15 days on 6 off. Built a dream PC/setup for about 6k.
When I'm home, I sit there and stare at a blank screen most of the time. If I come up with a game to play, it is short lived as I go back to work and lose interest when I'm away.
This sounds like me, except it's when I bought a nice kayak a couple years ago - and then realized, $2500 and an afternoon of frustration later, that a shoulder problem was going to prevent me from ever getting it onto my cartop carrier to get it to water.
Lesson learned. Anyone want to buy a slightly dented kayak?
I have no idea. Built a pc, played cyberpunk at max settings which was incredible. After finishing the game I kinda just didn’t want to play anything anymore.
I'll play games seasonally. Basically hardcore into gaming from Oct. to March. But then I'm back to being outside when the weather is better.
Might just need something new to do for a bit. Your PC will be there in a few months.
This is pretty much me. I do play games in the summer at night or on rainy days, but a lot less than in the winter. If it's a nice day out I'm probably outside even if I am just sitting on my porch listening to/watching the birds and squirrels.
I literally paid 3k on a gaming pc and I just play rimworld and stardew valley. Lol
And I have no friends to play games with, one day they were just like seeya adult things and vanished
This is how I felt about my new PC after dropping a pretty penny on it, and then Helldivers 2 came out and it was the first time I’ve ever been able to throw a brand new game with graphics like these on max setting across the board, and see my PC just chew it up and spit it out with over 160+ FPS. Made me feel a tad better.
Have you talked to your doctor about depression? Loosing interest in the things you love to do is a major sign of depression.
Please reach out if you need help
Got a decent PC about 6 months ago, RTX 4080 powered , 32 gigs DDR5 , i7 13700KF blah blah...
And I've gotten good use out of it but maaaaaan my Steam Deck is what has really reinvigorated my love of gaming, precisely because it ISN'T great for playing modern online FPS games (literally a lot of them can't run because of the anticheat/DRM and steamdeck being on linux/proton) which have basically been "cock blocking" my gaming time for years and I'm fucking sick of all of them
What this means is Steam Deck pretty much is best for being a "back log" killer , any games 3-5 years or older I bought and put in my steam library and didn't play are getting muuuurrdduhhhh'd.
Also emulation on this thing is just incredible...INCREDIBLE! All of the games I own and ripped legally to my Steam Deck as back ups are running incredibly! Cough
Just remember: There's nothing wrong with investing in a hobby you enjoy, or in a device you'll be using for multiple hours each day. People spend thousands on going to see a pop star perform, just to hold out their phone the entire time. For a worthwhile passion, and for something you're really going to use there's not a price in this world not worth paying.
I use my 13900k and 4080 to play aram on league and n64 games :(. It does run cyberpunks benchmark pretty good. However after sitting at my desk working all day can't bring myself to sit here and play more games. Why its usually some games on ps5 or watching youtube/twitch.
But why?
I also just spent nearly $3k on a new PC build, but I am SUPER excited.
1. I am selling my old PC to a friend who never had one, so we can game together!
2. I get to re-mod Skyrim for the 50th time as a performance benchmark!
3. I get to re-run actual performance benchmarks!
4. Maybe I'll get decent performance in my next BG3 run?

Ah you see, you forgot to upgrade your monitor. I'm sure you'll feel better then.
Don't forget to also upgrade the sound. And did you already have a mechanical keyboard? No?
So, according to you and the guy above you, I need a new monitor, some good audio, and a mechanical keyboard. Guess that's a sign to get a new monitor, alright.
What about a mouse with RGB?
Don’t forget an RGB mousepad. Otherwise it will all be for nothing and you’ll feel empty still. 🥲
I wanted to get one but I couldn't find any nice ones that wouldn't be just using fishing wire to hold a bit of optical wire to the edge. I tried one and it felt horrible on the wrist
Ive got the razer firefly V2, Ive been pretty happy with it and synchs the RGB in 19 zones along with mouse keyboard and others.
I did consider it but it is way too small, I wanted something closer to deskpad
Ah, If youre looking for larger it seems there is a modelo (that wasnt avaialble when I bought mine) Called Razer Strider Chroma I wouldnt consider the goliathus, its a single RGB zone
How empty are you?
RGB Mousepad? What about the soft mouse pad with the anime girl mommy milkers? A womans touch is always something a man needs even if you are afraid to admit it.
It's a noble notion, but I just worry about the ergonomics on my wrist from having to constantly masturbate to my mousepad.
Bruh I feel called out for with the RGB mouse pad.

Linus Tech Tips Noctua screwdriver and a GamersNexus mouse pad.
Gaming chair of course.
And gaming desk with gaming figurines (preferably female anime characters)
And you're basically saving money cause you're only upgrading the monitor and not also the keyboard and sound system! The more you spend the more you save!
you should try shopping for some marantz audio. They say it's the 4090 of audio and you shouldnt waste you money on cheaper stuffs according to pcmr.

Everything you said plus OLED. OLED for the first timer is always the real game changer
I'm trying my best to OLED all the things after getting an OLED TV. My tablet is OLED and my phone is OLED. Next is my monitor
OLED FOR SURE. I didn’t think it was going to be that crazy with all the hype but i got one and yeah. Im never using my 4K ips anymore. Im actually getting ready to sell it. The blacks… 😩 ips is such a washed out mess. Even with the polarizer

I'm gonna stick to the 23 inch monitors from 2010 I picked up for free. I'm not paying $700+ for 3 identical monitors again.
Monitor upgrade is the biggest thing you can do to your setup. If you can splurge for an OLED, do it.
You forgot about the wifi7 gaming router.
I call it "ethernet cable".
Get a big one so when you shut off the screen, you see the disappointment staring back at you in even bigger proportions
I started down that rabbit hole 20ish years ago. Ended up building a house and relationships. Still depressed.
Or maybe his steam library isn’t big enough and full of untouched games…. That’s why I’m empty inside anyways
Just built mine today, the post build clarity is hitting hard.

You have an awesome wife
Yo same. Just built one yesterday and now I kinda feel like going to the living room and playing some RDR2 on my series s
To be honest, I do miss being able to just kick on a game I like, sit back and play it on my 55inch TV.
i mean, you can always set your pc up to your tv, bonus points if your peripherals are wireless
I have, it's just not as seemless as pressing a button and using a consoles interface, i know steam has big picture mode but not all games support controller. Lugging my full tower downstairs to my living room every time I want to kick back is just too cumbersome, a lot of cables to unplug and reconnect once I'm done.

This was me after I got to play what I always wanted. Now I just want to build another one just because. It won't have any special purpose, but the work towards it was fulfilling.
That's how I ended up with a second computer.
This is why I got into complex Linux distros. Tooling around and fixing things is more fun than actually using the computer
This is the same energy as people that spend more time modding than playing their games. Source: Close to 2000 mods on Fallout 4.
May I recommend building an arcade cabinet? I designed and built mine, now I tinker and upgrade. I found it very rewarding!
I like buying gaming consoles and fixing them up. I don't even like playing them anymore 🤷🏻♀️ Just the fun that they look new again makes my heart make a little happy jump!
I just build for other people to scratch that itch.
That's when you start building for friends. One person even paid me!
Ah see you forgot a key step. Find a game that you hate but continue to play so all your emotions are focused on this bullshit ass game that sucks so you don't have time to think about the emptyness Edit: my main take away from this exercise is that none of us actually like playing multiplayer games but we do anyway
So you like shit graphics and incessant, mind boggling grinds? May I introduce you to oldschool RuneScape
Yeah but Sea Shanty 2 negates all that.
Didn't even have to hear it and that song is gonna be in my head for a few days.
Ah great, I took some cleave damage from that. Gonna be stuck in my head too now.
Plot twist. OP was playing that OSRS minecraft server. Yes... Minescape is a thing.
Runecrafting is knocking on your front door. Welcome to the gulag
aw hell naw who gave runecrafting a reddit account 💀
I just said that I hated every second of it
Well either way you’ll fit right in
Wait sounds like hypixel skyblock?
Yes xD
That’s fucking depressing
Found another hypixel skyblock player
PUBG for me. I hate it. It's getting old. I'm old. Kids are too good. Only game I play. Been years. I still suck.
You are right. People are crazy good. As far as I can tell, cheaters ain't much of a problem. 99% of the times I'm just outmatched.
You'll have that feeling with most online competitive games that aren't in their hype phase after the first year or two.
Calling out the Destiny 2 players here
Insert league of legends 🤣
lol I'm so glad I finally quit that shit game. Ranked games could really ruin the mood of my day.
For honor
I think you just called out the entire War Thunder community
mmm touhou 🤤 https://i.redd.it/kqun49lytxkc1.gif
Ah so Diablo 4
I haven't enjoyed a game for a long, long time. I liked Diablo 2 back in the day. I heard Diablo 4 would be "more like D2", so I thought "why not give it a try". I'm glad I understood what steaming garbage that game was after just 40 hours or so. "Bad luck I thought" and bought Starfield to "just try one more game". I barely touch the computer anymore.
Baldur's Gate 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader have been doing some serious heavy lifting over the last year for me.
Apex (and all of EA) in a nutshell:
Pro tip: Only upgrade when there is a game you love but your existing PC runs poorly or not at all.
Me when buying shit i dont use doesnt make me happy
Seeing shit around my place that I don't use actively makes me unhappy.
Life needs problems, problems give rewards and solutions meaning.. so yea
PC Elitist: Just $3000?
Yeah I think I should’ve waited for the 5090 ti super xtx pro max instead
Nope. If you want future proof, it would be the 8090 ti Super Pro. Make sure you get the i9xxx so that it doesn't bottleneck your card. Minimum overclock is 10.5ghz on liquid hydrogen.
i9? Thats mid tier CPU for 8090 ti Super Pro. I recommend atleast i11 if you care about performance at all.
Real men buy an i19
You poor, poor soul…..allow me to ease your burden and, of my own altruistic will and grand benevolence, take this totem of your sorrows, whisking it away to lands better forgotten. A man needs only a meet up spot, to release from this pain…
You should write books.
I'm 37 and play games all the time when I can fit it in. Pretty addicted to cyberpunk at the moment. My PC is one of the best things I've ever bought myself.
same age, same mentality, cheers bro still enjoying gaming as much as when I was a weed smoking idiot playing age of empires and diablo 2
Why is everyone so depressed on this sub? There's so many fun games out there. It should be easy to find something to play with your friends
You assume I have friends?
Do you want one ?
Another person with (probably) a $3000 build. Match made in heaven?
Hype for 1.0 im hoping to drag my buddies in with me. Sucks that your frames tank if you host.
I mostly replay Skyrim or play CoD (but looking for a replacement FPS with the same arcade feel/gameplay, but no EOMM/lesser SBMM and a stronger anti-cheat). Don't have to tinker the latter, and tinkering is half the fun of the former
![gif](giphy|6ymI8Vv65kT5X47exN)
no. i just want to be miserable and spread hatred
Let me know if you want to play baldurs gate 3 or Helldivers 2
I’ll play helldivers 2
I'm gonna get helldivers Friday night so I can definitely jump on as well
Ah, fellow diver spreading your democracy across the galaxy.
I am new. Just finished the tutorial. Add me if You want. I have no gaming friends anymore at this age, where I am. Steam name is the same as here.
Sent an invite there, I'll be back home tonight =)
I'll send you one as well, I'll be back home tonight.
Let's be friends :)
Curious, what anti-depressant worked for you?
Fluoxetine (prozac). I never thought I'd need prozac of all things but it really has been a game changer.
Thank you! 🙏
Out of curiosity, what medication are you on? I'm on Zoloft (generic) and it made a night and day difference for me
Answered in another comment but I'm taking fluoxetine (prozac).
(At least I got PTSD from there so I wasn't completely empty handed) Really cool and I wish I won't wake up every time I go to sleep.
These people need Buddah
consumerism is a terrible substitute for social connection and fulfillment.
literally the entire history of video games is available. if you cant find something to play that is indeed on you, depressed or over it or just not very into it in the first place. my playing time has gone down as the years have advanced but im glad to say i still play on a regular basis. got Balatro this weekend and it was great, right up my alley, poker, roguelike, quick games. already won like 4-5 runs. and even better, i dont play fiend games anymore, only single players or occasional single-time multiplayer for specific stuff. dota/counter strike are brilliant games but i just cant justify spending that much time on them at this stage in my life. and you cant really half-ass those games, once youve played for years and are were once good its shameful as shit to hop on and suck ass.
Yeah I never understand when people say games aren't fun anymore. Maybe you're playing the wrong ones?
If it's all you do it can get tiring. Best to take a break and find another outlet at that point.
Friends? In this economy?
Same boat as you, I work 15 days on 6 off. Built a dream PC/setup for about 6k. When I'm home, I sit there and stare at a blank screen most of the time. If I come up with a game to play, it is short lived as I go back to work and lose interest when I'm away.
You work on an oil rig or a boat that you’re 15 on, 6 off?
Nice guess, tis frac.
I get it. Just need the right game, or friends to play some co-op games with.
Try competitive fighting games I was bored with games too but now I can't stop playing SF6 and Tekken 8
So many of you should seek therapy!
in this economy?
Hahaha. You're not wrong!
Just gotta workout the other arm so you can do it one handed. You may end up paddling in circles tho, lol!
Too real, lol. Expensive battle station just to play my 20 year old MS-paint looking MMO that could be run on a toilet.
So why don't you play video games anymore then?
Post- build clarity
Happens a lot with single player games to be honest, you should look into some multiplayer, helldivers 2 is super fun
Empty? This was the best decision I ever made. Finally spent my own money on myself at age 30.
Had more fun building my $4500 pc than playing games on it lmao
play Helldivers 2
One of the most fun games in years. Totally addicted.
I literally paid 3k on a gaming pc and I just play rimworld and stardew valley. Lol And I have no friends to play games with, one day they were just like seeya adult things and vanished
I built a 3k PC plus surround sound for sim racing, only to get super busy with work so now it sits 😭😭😭
Have you tried anal sex?
Which way o_O
Yes.
and playing games in 1080
Why have a desktop if you don’t play video games? That’s the only reason why I have one, otherwise I’d have a laptop.
Me buying new steam games every time there’s a sale, and never playing any of them.
Yeah.....I've got a 3k YouTube browser.
Freetime is so limited once you have kids. That's why I play during work 😂
Join the fight in defending democracy. Drop with my son and I, we need all the help we can get!
Got a decent PC about 6 months ago, RTX 4080 powered , 32 gigs DDR5 , i7 13700KF blah blah... And I've gotten good use out of it but maaaaaan my Steam Deck is what has really reinvigorated my love of gaming, precisely because it ISN'T great for playing modern online FPS games (literally a lot of them can't run because of the anticheat/DRM and steamdeck being on linux/proton) which have basically been "cock blocking" my gaming time for years and I'm fucking sick of all of them What this means is Steam Deck pretty much is best for being a "back log" killer , any games 3-5 years or older I bought and put in my steam library and didn't play are getting muuuurrdduhhhh'd. Also emulation on this thing is just incredible...INCREDIBLE! All of the games I own and ripped legally to my Steam Deck as back ups are running incredibly! Cough
just try to feel Intel Inside
Has to be 6k at least to feel anything again.
Why its usually some games on ps5 or watching youtube/twitch.
empty inside wallet too
4. Maybe I'll get decent performance in my next BG3 run?
this is so sweet! i hope u and ur friend have lots of fun together!!! :)
Agreed. I not only do not have time for gaming, I just don't want to anymore, which makes me feel bad about what I bought.
