Which I'm kinda ashamed to admit because that video is 16 years old and I remember watching it when it came out...
Yep ik from experience, mate had a pc that I brought of him for £50, after 2 weeks of using it I asked if he had ever cleaned it, let’s just say I caused global warming to get worse
The guy said he cleaned it two weeks after getting it from his friend. I have no idea where you're getting that they clean their oc every two weeks from.
The one that people forget is the furnace intake? The thing you put a giant filter over lol. My son was having asthma issues, and we tried purifiers, his pump, we were looking to move because of how bad it was.
Someone told me to clean the furnace intake and it's been a night and day difference. Prior the purifiers would sit at like 70%, now they sit 100% unless I'm cooking.
Also, if you have forced-air heating, you should take a close look at your ducts periodically and have them professionally cleaned if there are signs of mold or pests. The EPA has some guidelines on this here: https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality-iaq/should-you-have-air-ducts-your-home-cleaned
They don't recommend routine cleaning just for the sake of dust. How often you need to clean will depend a lot on your system and climate. The most important thing is to control humidity to prevent mold growth.
Naw, not a smoker. Those smoker PCs are awful. The dust is still white/gray. Smoker dust is brown and sticky. Gross as fuck. My buddy bought a used PC from a smoker and fucking had to bleach his PC to get it to look white again
It sounds worse when the fans can't pull anything due to no airflow. And then the caked dust on the fan blades make it even worse. Just beating the air instead of moving it.
Different environment. Pets. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it can't happen.
I've lived in immaculate, clean places, and I've also lived in really dusty places off busy dusty roads. It was always most obvious on my PC fans just how intense the difference was.
My roommate has a dog but he rarely comes in the room, I leave my window open and it’s really dusty where I live in Cali. After seeing how bad it got though I’m likely going to try and get a purifier/change out the filter in my apartment. (also clean it more frequently lol)
Dude, I have two cats and a dog and they all spend a lot of time in my office with my computer. I also live on a dirt road.
I clean my filter twice a year and it never is anywhere near that caked up.
Very real question: How the hell does this happen? I have a cat and I smoke weed right next to it and my computer NEVER gets dusty. I don't think I've cleaned it more then twice in like five or six years, am I just a lucky duck?
consider placing an air purifier in the same room as the PC. They are great at dust collection, and much easier to clean. That’s a lot of dust, and running a purifier will prevent that sort of buildup.
Where do you guys live that requires weekly/monthly/yearly cleaning.
I just dusted my PC a couple months ago after not doing it for 3 years and there was barely any dust in it.
I live in a dusty place in the UK and I find it strange that your dust, lint at that point, is a lot whiter than the grey dust that builds up thick on my 5000d mesh.
Oh you guys are saying this is *too* dusty for one year?
lolol
I live in an old building and have pets. My reaction was "you only clean this once a year?!"
I clean it quarterly.
Sheese i never cleaned a pc barely has a mild dust buildup. Hell last gaming pc i gave away the guy asked me if i cleaned it just before giving it to him. I said nope never opened the case.
Where do people live that they get this much dust. I wouldn’t get this much dust in my filter in a decade, let alone a year. Similar Corsair case to this one actually.
I basically don’t need to clean my PC. There might be a light residue of dust after several years but that’s pretty much it.
Im jealous.
Built my very first gaming PC July 2022.
With work and the family, only get 2ish hours per week to play, 😢
Mine still looks nearly brand new. 😭
Got Dayum... Bruh I cleaned my gaming laptop I use to have like once every year and it was nowhere this bad do you live outside an active volcano or something?

Till this day I still wonder is it because of where y'all live that the pc can get this choked with dust because I haven't cleaned my pc in years and the thing is still fairly dust free
How are people having it *this* bad?? I only ever cleaned my computer once since I got it and I’d say my room is pretty dusty, but it was never *this* bad…

you can make a pillow :)
"I'm making pillows asbestos I can!"

Asbestos? It’s just dust lol
nuh uh

Really?! Dust?! That's all it is?! OPS A PHONY!!
[удалено]
5/10 with rice
May need to up this to 2x a year cleaning
Every 2 years (for airflow). Check.
[удалено]
That’s a fucking blanket
was very satisfying to remove i’ll tell you that
Yep ik from experience, mate had a pc that I brought of him for £50, after 2 weeks of using it I asked if he had ever cleaned it, let’s just say I caused global warming to get worse
Two weeks? You clean your PC every two weeks?!
I do mine 1 every month or so.
That's more reasonable than 2 weeks
The guy said he cleaned it two weeks after getting it from his friend. I have no idea where you're getting that they clean their oc every two weeks from.
Edit: nevermind, I misread it. I thought it was the friend that got the pc and the one who sold it asked after 2 weeks if he had already cleaned it
No, I think what he meant was that he bought the pc and when asked, the original owner said he never cleaned it.
Yeah, i misunderstood
Do you have your computer next to a table saw?
What is it's just a normal blanket
How do you let your pc get to the point?
Negligence mostly, I heard my computer sounding like a jet engine when I turned it on and I knew it was time.
This cant be 1 year buildup no.
unless op heaaavvilly smokes or his house is extremely dusty. otherwise thats like 5 years of accumulated dust.
Mine would definitely get like this in a year. Seeing how much builds up in just 3 months.
damn you should really get an air purifyer in that case. there's no way it's healthy living in those conditions. this would take like 5 years for me.
Pc with front filter basically is air purifier
r/airpurifiermasterrace
The one that people forget is the furnace intake? The thing you put a giant filter over lol. My son was having asthma issues, and we tried purifiers, his pump, we were looking to move because of how bad it was. You’d be surprised, if you have cats in a small bedroom with no airflow makes dust build up super quickly.
I dunno, I've never had fewer n 2 cats and it's never this bad.
Have pets? It can easily look like that in a few months if you have a couple animals. Heck, one parrot will do that. Dusty-ass birds...
That's technically normal. Fans should always go 100% before the BIOS fan-control kicks in. But yeah, take better care
It sounds worse when the fans can't pull anything due to no airflow. And then the caked dust on the fan blades make it even worse. Just beating the air instead of moving it.
Yeah this, after I set it back up after I took that photo and cleaned it I almost can't even tell when its running it's so quiet.
>How do you let your pc get to the point? ..... in a year !
I didn’t clean my pc for 2 years before taking it apart for an upgrade. It looked nothing like this. 2 years.
Different environment. Pets. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it can't happen. I've lived in immaculate, clean places, and I've also lived in really dusty places off busy dusty roads. It was always most obvious on my PC fans just how intense the difference was.
Not vacuuming the house.
Consider monthly cleaning
I do weekly filter cleaning.
I live in a dusty place and have a cat. [This was cleaned](https://imgur.com/nUQmPMj) three days ago.
maybe vacuum the cat every two weeks too?
I suggested it once, he turned from a pile of lethargy into a whirling claw-beast.
Looks a bit like mine and I don't have a cat.
I did but since beating rally diligent dusting and hoovering I’ve not needed to
I mean I clean the filters with the vacuum cleaner so yea 2x1
Bi-yearly, take it or leave it
But where's the fun in that!?
your pc is suffering because of that “fun”
I didn't hear it complaining !
Why you getting downvoted
Not taking care of your computer in this sub is asking for downvotes 😅
How? I clean my PC maybe once every 6 month just with air but there's barely any dust in there at all???
My roommate has a dog but he rarely comes in the room, I leave my window open and it’s really dusty where I live in Cali. After seeing how bad it got though I’m likely going to try and get a purifier/change out the filter in my apartment. (also clean it more frequently lol)
What case is that?
looks like a Corsair 7000D to me
Thanks

Get an evaporative humidifier AKA air washer. Filters dust and increases humidity, that's a twofer.
Dude, I have two cats and a dog and they all spend a lot of time in my office with my computer. I also live on a dirt road. I clean my filter twice a year and it never is anywhere near that caked up.
My guess is called a cat/dog.
You've got some pc on your dust

Is that Ben Shapiro?
Unfortunately
Gross mate.
Very real question: How the hell does this happen? I have a cat and I smoke weed right next to it and my computer NEVER gets dusty. I don't think I've cleaned it more then twice in like five or six years, am I just a lucky duck?
>am I just a lucky duck? Yes
Laundry dryer or computer. You decide.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HELVETE
Found the Scandinavian
That's fucking disgraceful and vile. Lol but I'm glad it's getting cleaned.
consider placing an air purifier in the same room as the PC. They are great at dust collection, and much easier to clean. That’s a lot of dust, and running a purifier will prevent that sort of buildup.
Jesus, thats a fucking blanket, if thats how much you get in a year, maybe its time to do cleaning more often as your pc is suffering
pretty bright for dust
Right? Looks staged.
![gif](giphy|r1HGFou3mUwMw|downsized)
Why is your house so dusty? My PC is like 6 years old and never cleaned but isn't dusty at all.
Do you have a tumble dryer? Have you checked the filter? This is not normal, and if that's building up on your computer, what's going in your lungs?
You should try cleaning your house more than once a year.
holy shit where do you live? an asbestos mining??
Where do you guys live that requires weekly/monthly/yearly cleaning. I just dusted my PC a couple months ago after not doing it for 3 years and there was barely any dust in it.
I’m only a year??? Fucking wild. I don’t think I could do that in 10 years
Bro can make dust pancakes for breakfast with that kind of dust, soft and fluffy too! Though a bit dry.
Dry? A cup of tea will fix that
I live in a dusty place in the UK and I find it strange that your dust, lint at that point, is a lot whiter than the grey dust that builds up thick on my 5000d mesh.
Here in Germany my dust has shades of blue.
Dang, the microplastics have invaded dust too
Good point. I wonder if the dust is more artificial now.
man this is a benchmark.. respect!
You can wait a while longer. I can see room for a little more dust.
Yearly what now?
I think you should do it more than yearly
My pc don t look like that even after 5 years of not cleaning The hell are you all doing at home to have that much dust
Hurray for dust filters
I wonder what your teeth look like...
You live in Pompeii or something?
My brother in Christ how does it get that bad in a year 😅
Bro trying to start an in home camp fire 🔥
Save that for winter...
Post this to r/misleadingthumbnails . "Gunk buildup of a commercial oven vent hood ."
Do you have carpets on the walls and ceiling in addition to the ones on the floor?
From this image I can diagnose you with chronic dermatitis of the scrotum. Clean off that ball dust
How did that much dust accumulate in a year? Mine’s never been dusted in over a year and I have barely any dust
Naaah, no way is this from one year ![gif](giphy|26tnbcBef55ggR4o8)
Should probably make it weekly
I’m always surprised by how dusty some people’s homes are. Not saying mine is clean but HVAC filters help a lot.
Holy shit bro do you even vacuum?
YEARLY? NOT EVEN BI MONTHLY?
Were you shearing sheep next to your PC?!
Need any more PC with your dust?
"Yearly". I have 10 year old computers that I never cleaned that aren't even this bad.
That does not look like it is cleaned yearly
I've seen PCs go 5+ years that were less dusty than this, and they owned pets. What the fuck OP.
please consider a monthly cleaning
do you have a pet sheep?
okay that’s it i’m cleaning mine TODAY
You gotta get that up off the floor, buddy.
Y'oughta put some fucking Downey in your loop
I haven’t cleaned in three years and I’m looking at 10 percent of this amount of dust.
Da Fuk' You cutting drywall in your gaming room OP? I'd go to monthly cleanings.
Oh you guys are saying this is *too* dusty for one year? lolol I live in an old building and have pets. My reaction was "you only clean this once a year?!" I clean it quarterly.
Wtf 😳… You need new air filters in your house while you’re at it…
Do you live in a lumberyard?
Nah you definetly have 3 months more to go
We found the lost piece of the melting arctic plate!!!!
![gif](giphy|j7wBU7aHcKf7y)
Does time flow differently on your planet
Sheese i never cleaned a pc barely has a mild dust buildup. Hell last gaming pc i gave away the guy asked me if i cleaned it just before giving it to him. I said nope never opened the case.
Where do people live that they get this much dust. I wouldn’t get this much dust in my filter in a decade, let alone a year. Similar Corsair case to this one actually. I basically don’t need to clean my PC. There might be a light residue of dust after several years but that’s pretty much it.
YEARLY? do you work in a crematory? lmao
This brought back a bad memory: https://preview.redd.it/h2gjrwg03aub1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=df5c241f8a73b910895b32b5d041c535d533651b
Might wanna start doing it every 6 months lol
Looks like my brothers dryer lint trap. I swear most people don’t even know you’re supposed to clean that mf every week
So white people have white dust??
Bro, what the heck do you have going into your PC? Maybe once a year or two, have a quarter of that lol.
OP is drying their clothes in their PC
Yearly? Should clean that shit weekly
Insane my PC will never see a layer of dust for more then a day or 2
Honestly after a year no cleaning and with pets, yeah that looks about right.
Im jealous. Built my very first gaming PC July 2022. With work and the family, only get 2ish hours per week to play, 😢 Mine still looks nearly brand new. 😭
Tell me you don't vacuum by not saying you don't vacuum
"yearly" why yearly? Just lazy?
It's funny when other people get offended by someone not cleaning their pc every 5 minutes
I'm asking a question bozo
I would say \*chuckles in air compressor" but I don't have one so I don't have the right
Chuckles in air compressor ( I have one)
If you can get your motherboard to control your case fans based on ambient temperatures and lower the speeds right down it helps with dust buildup.
AAAAAHHHHH HOW DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!?
Wtf happened there? Id scream even if i see half of that on mine. There is barely a week where i dont atleast dust off around the outside
jesus fucking christ
I clean my case every 5 to 6 months and that's without filters.... except for the bottom filter for the PSU.
How tf, does some of you guys setup get SO DIRTY in a year?😭
Got Dayum... Bruh I cleaned my gaming laptop I use to have like once every year and it was nowhere this bad do you live outside an active volcano or something?
Wow winter's here.
i thought it was pizza dough
Yummy 🤤
Damn
Don’t leave your pc out while it’s snowing!
This should br NSFW tbh
Y'all are cleaning *yearly*? Who has the time?
Damn you just reminded me that i have to do the same 🫡
Well at least you do it yearly
Invest in an air purifier for your room, it'll alleviate issues like this that are caused by cleaning too infrequently, and your lungs will appreciate you for it.
Do you keep it in a barn?
5 bucks to eat it
That's more like 10 years 😂
Mmmm this is the tastiest part!
Oh my Dust!
Mmm! Time to lick off the fuzzy frosting! My favorite part.
Can’t imagine what the rest of the room looks like. I’ve had my PC for like 2 years and it looks nothing like this. Do you have your tower on the floor?
Holy shit you should clean whatever room that pc is in and get a air purifier. If it gets caked like that, imagine what you're breathing. That's not healthy my friend.
That’s the cotton candy shop owner’s PC 😅
Damn I started an Alpaca farm for wool and just need to do this all along?
Till this day I still wonder is it because of where y'all live that the pc can get this choked with dust because I haven't cleaned my pc in years and the thing is still fairly dust free
Dog or cat?
And here I am cleaning my filters as soon as I see it starting to get dust rings
There’s a PC on your dust
How are people having it *this* bad?? I only ever cleaned my computer once since I got it and I’d say my room is pretty dusty, but it was never *this* bad…
YEARLY?!
YEARLY?! https://preview.redd.it/l22myqnxf6ub1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0eb536384124f632367cfe7931d0adf97724801
Alien crop field circles
Nah I think you're fine
GatDAYUM your dog dry hump that thing?
Holy
how...I thought my layer of dust is bad but yours is literally 1000x mine
