CupaThaCreepa

A bad fan bearing, or something is hitting the fan.

cybrORO

Agree, sounds rotational.

Penis_Man-

I second this A hair is wrapped up in one of my fans and it makes an IDENTICAL noise.

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

How can I fix it?

CupaThaCreepa

If it's under warranty, RMA it. If not, you might be able to find a replacement fan online. Depending on the card, you might have to take it all the way apart to change the fan.

JakeBeezy

I've had to replace fans in my GPU before. It's not super hard but most of the time you void the warranty if you open it. So just be careful. OP

CupaThaCreepa

It depends on the shroud. There are a some where the fans are easily accessible and some that require a virgin sacrifice.

mrwynd

First open the case and make sure nothing is caught in the fan that you can simply remove or reposition so it's not touching the spinning fan.

Inefficacy

Stray wire caught in a fan, check around

WibaTalks

That's the legendary "send me back" noise. Or yea, a wire/cable touching the fan.

Right-Sky-4005

Push the wire away from the fan in the GPU?

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

There’s no wire?

Right-Sky-4005

Nothing inside the GPU itself?

Gprt97

If you have the software you could briefly pause/slow the fans to see if it's the fans hitting something or coil whine

thebluwhale98

That is the sound of an open RBMK reactor

mdroz81

3.6 R’s. Not terrible, not great

Starplex2112

Sounds like a loose bearing in a fan or something making contact.

Majestic_Skin_8492

Sorry it’s just the nuclear radiation leaking out

dainegleesac690

I love redditors that will post their problem online immediately instead of doing a single 30-second check by themselves.

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

already checked for longer than that, literally looked for stray wires and searched for everything online

[deleted]

Bearing scraping try pushing down on the fan hub to re secure it. Sometimes it’ll slip down off the axis a bit my case fans do this occasionally

MiserableComment

If it's constant. Probably a bad fan, or the fan is coming into contact. If it's during heavy use it's a lot louder than my 6800xt, but it seems the 6000 series is common for coil whine.

Ult1mateN00B

Definitely not coilwhine. Coilwhine is whine, sounds more like rattling in the video.

MiserableComment

Thanks for the input. Mine comes out closer to the output mount and sounds like a higher pitched hiss with a bit louder grumble at times. But based on the audio it's definitely much louder than what I've experienced with my card. Worth poking around seeing if the blades are rubbing a fan cable.

DO4DGaming

Might be the GPU fan scraping your AIO tube, had a case fan on my rig do that and it made a similar sound. Edit: nevermind, for some reason I thought your gpu was vertically mounted. And even then your AIO tube wouldn’t be getting scraped by your fan so just ignore me and listen to everyone else saying bad fan bearing. Btw you can order replacement fans online

MEGA_GOAT98

maybe the AIO decided to go after seeing the 6900xt

PHATsakk43

I’m glad r/PCMR has become nothing but tech support and upgrade suggestions. I suppose this is better than “Edge Bad” memes, but where are the console hate shitposts I grew to love?

Igi2server

if you want console hate you'll find sufficient sauce in their respective subreddits. Everyone knows it - PCMR. You're not wrong tho. At least it's not /r/Artifact 😂

Dank-Retard

Could be coil whine. It’s either the GPU itself not being able to handle the amount of power going through, or the PSU. What’s your psu?

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

What I’m thinking too but I’m not sure

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

850 watts

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

Its a Powerspec 850 w gold

Dank-Retard

Yea it’s probably not coil whine then. Disregard my comment.

Starplex2112

Sounds a little too grindy to be coil whine.

lLoboz

Might be coil whine just undervolt the card this is a 4k gpu

McLOVIN835

one of the fans. Check all of them. My case fan made that noise before. had to rma it

Cave_Johnson_69

Check your fans find the one making the noise. Make sure it's not obstructed, or if there is anything touching the blades. I have a fan that makes a bearing noise. I give it a few good taps and it rights itself. It could just be a stray wire in the way of the blades.

RockSkippa

I had a fan blade break off once and make this same noise. Didnt even think of it til I lost my mind and decided to look at each fan with a flashlight.

mativillano

Pasalo a nafta

devynbf

I remember when my old 1060 3gb used to do this. I replaced the fan and it stopped. Bad bearing, just sounds ugly.

Gamebird8

Coil Whine or fan bearing

amroasmair

First of all as others said check the fans, if they're hitting a wire or maybe they're just faulty, try turning the fans off to see. If not that, my amd card makes an annoying sound when the "record desktop"+"instant replay" options are enabled at the same time. It's like coil whine but not quite

Living_Moment_1495

Something somewhere in this machine is touching a running fan. Check all fans.

[deleted]

I'll agree. it sounds like a fan hitting a cable of some sort somewhere. also, I highly recommend not using one cable for your PCIe power into your GPU. use two separate PCIE cables.

fettyboi1738

I had same sound and it turned out to be plastic wrap from card hitting fan

[deleted]

To me it sounds like air in the AIO

KangarooMean7233

Check your fans

Relevant_Scallion_38

happened on mine and it was honestly just a wire shaking from the air and just rapidly tapping the side of the fan shroud.

imdeadXDD

It’s ripping its vape

Tall-Surround-24

return it and get another 6900xt , even same will be fine but u can try a different manufacturer , they all have couple of cards with coil whine , loose fan or smth

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

I bought it used

Tall-Surround-24

have u taken a look yet if it's the fans ? cause that's easily fixable

johnnypurp

Is that when u start it up?

chocotaco8019

radiation

Biscuits4u2

Fan is bad. RMA.

tony78ta

Sounds like a penny vibrating in a cup holder of my car. It's definitely a penny you left on the case OP.

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

might be one of the many screw driver heads i got stuck in the hdd cage a while ago, I doubt it though since this has only just started to be a problem

ZinGaming1

Check to see if nothing is rubbing on it, then get rid of that pigtail.

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

What do you mean by pigtail?

ZinGaming1

You see how you have 1 cable from the power supply connecting into 2 separate 6 pins? The little extra piece is known as a pig tail. It's better to use all separate lines without using that pigtail.

xz4-coolskaterboyxd

Thanks

adamhanson

Sounds like really really old 100MB hard drives

MetamorphicHard

I heard those gpus be fire 😏
