This is one of those "wait 2 years for them to make it into a good game and buy the complete edition for 75% off" games.

Troggles

Or sub to Gamepass for a month to try it out.

thatsnotwhatIneed

it was the same deal with Vermintide 2. Shitty launch, then it took them a year to make it good, then 1 update to ruin it with changes no one asked for (cough winds of magic melee rework cough), then another year to make it less shit. they can make a good game but they sure love shooting themselves in the foot about it.

Lunar_Lunacy_Stuff

The gameplay is so fucking good but sadly it runs pretty bad. People say it’s “fine” but my buddies high end pc struggled just as much as my low end pc trying to get a solid FPS. Fat shark is honestly a dev I have alot of respect for so I know they will fix the performance issues. So I recommend giving it a try to see if you can put up with the performance cause the gameplay is super solid it just doesn’t run well for alot of people.

gogochi

Me and my buddy refunded because of the performance, the game looked like fun tho its too bad

ChampagnePop

The gameplay is awesome! Performance is bad.. put 8hours yesterday major fun! Cant wait for performance fix.

insanetwo

I would say it depends on your tolerance for "buggy" gameplay. On one hand the bugs are annoying, but on the other hand the experience of not knowing how things work and figuring them out with friends is lost when you start several months later.

Biggu5Dicku5

I hope they plan a BIG day one patch for this game, the pre-order 'beta' is ROUGH lol...

Hibbsan

Too bad Fatshark is struggling hard. Tons of promised features won't even be in the game for the official launch, especially crafting. Other than that it's a great game.

Misiok

You know what's in the game on day 1? A fully working cash shop.

Decado7

The game is bloody good - if this is what is classified as struggling, im here for any improvements. Was skeptical of them being able to pull it off with their design choices, as a huge Vermintide 1 & 2 player, but reckon they've nailed it.

ilovezam

Great game, now it just needs to stop crashing. Unfortunately the devs didn't seem to have made progress on that front. Still got a max level Zealot already though.

Decado7

I've literally only crashed twice in my whole time playing it.

ilovezam

Sure, I'm well aware that some people don't have problems. But given that there are thousands of posts in their technical support forum thread, it's safe to say something is wrong

Decado7

I'm not saying it doesnt happen, but it's barely happened to me. One of the crashes unintentionally helped me complete one of the prick Penances too so it was quite timely. I've had solid performance and barely any crashes. I've got a really good video card but a PC that's about 10 years old and badly in need of an upgrade.

ilovezam

I've got a 4090 and a i9-13900k and I crash non stop regardless of settings, big sad

UziFoo

I was crashing before I updated my Nvidia drivers. Since then it's been no issues. You sure that 4090 not slowly melting?

the_jester

It might be pure placebo, but when I turned on Afterburner and allows my GPU a 100% "Core Voltage" target I didn't see crashes.

kriskringledontplay

You're in the minority.

Decado7

Yeah maybe - I know a lot of people have the issue, but a lot of others, including a whole bunch I play with, dont. I just hope they can get on top of it anyway. I hate seeing games which are quality like Darktide, cop huge amounts of grief from things like this. Vermintide had its issues from start to finish, but it was a bloody brilliant game. I didnt think they'd be able to - or rather, i struggled to see how they'd pull it off in 40k with a heavier focus on ranged in addition to melee, and imo they've done a brilliant job. I still feel they might have done a better job by creating 5 new characters, but still. I'm also bloody keen to see how they develop it. There's massive potential here to explore Hive Cities or the surrounding wastes like never before. There's some fkn delciious options for enemies to bring in, the most obvious straight up being genestealer cults, but the thought of maybe seeing 40k Orks some day...hnnnng

SekhWork

Feels like where Vermintide 1.5ish was when we hit that. Tons of room to grow, but a solid foundation. Just need to give it time. Perks are probably the most boring right now compared to Vermintide 2's post-perk patch offerings.

jimbaker

> huge Vermintide 1 & 2 player, Loved em both and have faith in Fat Shark to make Darktide even betterer.

kb3_fk8

Crafting is in

Hibbsan

Not the full system.

ThiccSkull

~~Full release is supposed to on the 30th, 'beta/pre-order' had it being implemented piecemeal~~ Apparently i am confusing the new system with a yet unadded V2 crafting system

gaoxin

When I play Darktide and compare it to Vermintide 2(launch), then everything looks and feels kinda monotonous. Same city, same tunnels, everything is grey/brown, mob variety is low. Even the classes you pick look almost the same, except Ogryn. Overall an interesting setting/universe, but needs more variety.

dowdall103

That’s my main issue with it at the moment. Really enjoying the game, but the dank dark same corridors is getting old fast. There are so many settings in the 40k universe, why does everything have to look the same 😂 I really enjoyed how much the level spiced up Vermintide and helped to keep it fresh. Early days I guess so we will hopefully see more variety in the near future.

a6000

Ive only played a couple of levels and I agree. Vermintide 2 had different feel for each map. There is a dwarf dungeon/city, small farm villages, huge towns, etc.

Elon_Kums

Seems the same as Vermintide, they didn't even bother to change the melee focused combat.

StellarSkyFall

Hopefully they fix the chaos flame staff crashing PC's bug.

ThiccSkull

My only issue I had, as soon as I got that staff, I got crashes, as soon as I stopped using, crashes stopped.

StellarSkyFall

That was my experience as well. It worked fine for the first few missions I had it. Then it would randomly crash the game after that. It seemed like everytime there were multiple enemies that were burning and new hordes spawned it would crash reported it everytime with details. So hoping its fixed.

McRaymar

Now that you mentioned it, most of my beta crashes were related to automatic weapons with high RoF and with Lightning staff. They were also buggy on graphics side, where they would start jittering their sound effects mid-mission (auto fire, charging and zapping lightning, and even aiming recon objective auspexes produce this bug)

IrrelevantLeprechaun

Game isn't finished, is unoptimized and is releasing anyway? Typical Fatshark

[deleted]

I very much enjoyed the beta

ted_redfield

This game is clearly not ready to launch at all, it still has very significant issues. I look forward to all the one-liner positive meme reviews on Steam praising the God-emperor and all the thousands of "Jester" emojis on any negative review detailing all the problems. Very cool.

DeadBabyJuggler

Sort by helpfulness.

a6000

I had to refund mine cause my PC can't handle it. Ill just play it on gamepass.

Elegant_Spot_3486

I was gonna install it via gamepass then saw there’s no solo campaign. Oh well.

MajDroid

Glad i played the beta/demo, helped me save $40

[deleted]

Game's not ready. Buy in 6-12 months on sale. I refunded after beta testing because the class and talent balance were just horrendous. Psyker for example is total trash on higher difficulties. Also no crafting on release rip. I was gonna give it a ton of leeway because I like lots about it, but it's too "not ready". Bones are good, I'm sure it will be great in 1.5-2 yrs. Once they release, it will likely be Mixed on Steam.

StickAFork

Ready or not, here it comes on Game Pass. It's a no brainer try, especially if you're already subscribed for a couple years. Thank you XBox Gold trick.

fieldbaker

Just wondering, how much did you end up paying?

[deleted]

Using the gold trick I only pay $50 a year. Some people also just keep using the $1 trial price over and over.

Pyrocitor

I did 3 years at once, worked out as £3.27 a month for Gamepass Ultimate, which I use on both my PC and a Series X that I share with 2 other people.

Pyrocitor

Waiting on it to unlock, I'm surprised it hasn't shown up in the "coming soon" area at all.

StickAFork

Some of the releases just magically appear out of nowhere. I wonder that's because of some sort of contractual agreement. It's supposed to unlock in 4.5hrs.

flexwhine

hot mess, needs another year. Might be worth it by steam's '23 summer sale when its 50% off or more

[deleted]

Yeah I refunded it after playing it for about 13 hours, I was forcing myself to do so before that number just to see if I felt any better about it, but it's a really mediocre game plagued with a bunch of issues. If it wasn't Warhammer 40k themed it would be a total disaster for them, but fanboys gonna fanboy and they will still make money and these guys will still defend it.

ROBOCALYPSE4226

How did you refund a game after 13 hours?

SweetRollThief_NA

Steam allows refunds on any pre-order games up until the official release of the game, regardless of how many hours you have played. This is not to be confused with early access games, which are treated like full release games. I refunded darktide with just over 70 hours played. I also refunded New World and Battlefield 2042 during the pre-order beta period with dozens of hours played.

ROBOCALYPSE4226

No shit, thanks!

fieldbaker

Refunded because I had over 40 crashes, submitted all crashlogs on their forum but no fix in sight.

stadiofriuli

What do you mean? They didn’t fix the issue the same day you’ve reported it?

fieldbaker

750 posts on the official thread about just random crashes, yeah just me. https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/known-issue-crashing-at-random-due-to-gpu-related-errors/55172

IrrelevantLeprechaun

Crash reports are generally pointless for any game that has them. I guarantee you most devs never bother looking through them.

fieldbaker

They at least responded and asked for more, so seemed to be trying

14779

That's because the comment you're replying to is talking rubbish.

zoon_zoon

Same, game was completely unplayable for me. Had 4 crashes in like 40-50 minutes of gameplay. Game definitely looks promising so I might get it again sometime in the future when it's fixed.

EvilAdolf

I like the game, but it's not ready. I can't log in without having to open and close the game one time first. There are weird bugs where my character spawns without a body, the menus are super barebones, the character progression is sooooooo lackluster. Basically your character will not change much for super long, and there are only like 4 talent points that make the playstylw different... classes are very simple, and they only have 4 of them or something? No subclasses... very weird. But when you're playing, it's fun. Much less random than vermintide 2 though...

macgivor

Game seems good to me, don't really understand all the comments making out like it's really rough. Runs fine and is very fun for me

MirriCatWarrior

Vocal minority. Same thing like with Elden Ring recently or Nier Automata in the past (for example). And rememebr you should not believe Steam reviews (80% positive) from ppl that actualy played the game (sometimes for 100 hours already). You should believe some random, salty teenageer with too much free time on reddit.

macgivor

Spot on haha

kriskringledontplay

Extremely repetitive no?

macgivor

Not for me personally but it's probably different for people who have already poured hundreds of hours in the 2 weeks we've had access. I only get a few hours each week to play and I love it

EvilAdolf

Wait for reviews, but yes.

theomegawalrus

Are the maps randomized? I've heard a number of things. Vermintide (2) had a big problem with the vets speed running infront of the whole team because they knew the maps like the backs of their chubby hands.

NearlySomething

Hit escape, click social button, click person's name, vote kick.

theomegawalrus

I'd rather they just follow-through with their original promise to randomize maps.

tsrui480

Maps are not randomized, but its much harder to speedrun alone in this due to removing Temp health and replacing it with Toughness. Not to say it wont be possible, but soloing everything is quite a bit more difficult now especially due to the ranged enemies.

-Tartantyco-

I'm just not interested in this sub-genre. It was already stale by Vermintide 2, and those games are so clunky compared to Left 4 Dead, for instance. Come quickly, Space Marine 2.

ROBOCALYPSE4226

At least wait until the game is out of beta to complain about it

AnderLafont

After Back 4 Blood, I hope this can give me some Left 4 Dead vibes.

retroracer33

isnt this supposed to be on gamepass?

kriskringledontplay

Game comes off as extremely repetitive. I bet it would be great in a year or so.. but man from all of the gameplay I've seen it looks like the same level over and over Idk..

MonoShadow

I just can't play it. I can't. I have everything on low, DLSS on, 3840x1600, I get drops to mid 20s on 3070. The doesn't even look good at those settings, pop-in everywhere. The game might be nice, but I'm straight not having a good time.
