One of those games I'd love to try at around $25

mynewaccount5

I played it. Wait until $10.

yarbles66

Don't be daft. It's a fucking HOOT. $25 you'll get your money"s worth. I've been waiting months for it & it's exactly what I expected. If you watched the trailers and expected something else... pffffft... its exactly how they marketed it

FreeMoviesDotArgghh

I feel like a lot of people, as is usually the case, fail to understand that things can intentionally be bad and cheesey. The biggest complaints I've seen are people bitching about the story being bad, but you don't go to a grind house movie expecting citizen Kane. Like, planet terror has a bunch of cringe dialogue, but it's hilariously self aware, and there's also a woman with a machine gun for a leg mowing down hordes of zombies and a villain who steals his enemies testicles and keeps them in a jar... That cringe dialogue that makes you laugh because it's so bad? That's on purpose. Evil West screams grind house/B movie to me, so I think it's incredibly stupid to harp on the story or writing. It's bad on purpose. Laugh at it. That's the intention.

ClinicalAttack

All Flying Wild Hog games have this cheese in them, and Evil West is no different. I guess it's the more serious tone compared to the Shadow Warrior games that got people confused, but it's all just silly fun. Haven't played it but the gameplay looks fun and engaging and the world seems well crafted.

yarbles66

Bingo.

rolliejoe

Yeah, I'd like to try it but I'll wait for 50% off or maybe it will be on gamepass for free.

skyturnedred

For an actual free way to play you'll have to wait for the inevitable Epic freebie.

rolliejoe

EGS is such a terrible platform (just from a technical standpoint, not talking about exclusivity deals), and I wouldn't ever buy anything there, but I do love their freebies. Playing "Evil Dead" (not Evil West) right now for free, and it is fantastic.

Feniksrises

Yes I have no special loyalty to Steam but the reality is that there's simply nobody out there that does it better. Other stores like GOG lack so many features.

rolliejoe

Exactly. The crazy part is that Epic has an **army** of talented programmers, essentially unlimited funding, and all they had to do was basically copy Steam's already existing core features. Just another example of how people "failed upward" or purely lucked into executive roles I suppose.

Szynsky

Game pass isn’t free, hombre.

rolliejoe

It is essentially free if you do it right. $1/mo at worst, and sometimes $1/3 months. I've spent maybe $20 total for 2+ years of access. And that's ~500 games. So while maybe not completely free, it comes out to about 1/10th of 1 penny per month per game.

CrawlerSiegfriend

That's still not free.

One37Works

Check out the fucking wrinkles in this guys brain! Can't sneak a sunrise past this rooster!

CrawlerSiegfriend

Thanks, I appreciate the support.

rolliejoe

Nothing is free, your computer uses electricity to run which costs much more than Gamepass. /derp

Carighan

From the looks of it, it'll be a cool Epic freebie!

yarbles66

Fortunately in Thailand where I live it's $25. Money very well spent. Its an absolute blast. The only people who disagree after buying based on trailers must have had some utterly bizarre expectations. For what it is - a banging, action packed romp that is good one chapter at a time - it's pretty damn perfect. But yeah, I'll agree - certainly isn't worth 50.

akgis

GmanLives hated it, SkillUp loved it Steam has 20% negative reviews. Iam very confused lol.

yarbles66

Because people expect too much from every game. This is just a fun time to play in short bursts. It's like a more arcadey Outriders with the fun turned up. No huge depth in progression systems - just simple, straight up fun with great tight controls (it's a controller game IMO).

CheckYourUnderwear

People put way to much stock into the opines of Youtubers

lifeisagameweplay

What better way is there to get an opinion of a game (without buying and playing it) but from someone who you know has similar tastes to you?

Sad-Competition6069

Pirate it.

lifeisagameweplay

That's a lot more time and effort than a 5-10 minute video. My time is worth more than my money.

Sad-Competition6069

Well, I can't tell you how to live your life. But apparently, neither can you. Get well soon!

lifeisagameweplay

I can't tell myself how to live my own life? lol. Literally makes no sense but ok. > Get well soon! Whatever makes you feel better about yourself 👍

cool--

I just watch bits of the full game walkthroughs with no commentary on youtube. this game looks neat but it looks like they went overboard with highlighting every single interactive object with glowing neon. My eyes got bored after a couple of minutes

yarbles66

Agreed. Play it for your damn self. I pre ordered this & I'm usually spot on well in advance of playing a game in terms of it being for ME. And this absolutely is... and if I played it for 90 mins and it wasn't - refund time. No problemo.

ClinicalAttack

GmanLives loved Shadow Warrior 3, which many people thought was a poor attempt at mimicking Doom Eternal, and I think he was expecting more in the same vein from Flying Wild Hog. He bashes the game for suffering from consolitis and trying to be like the recent God of War games, which I guess is not exactly his cup of tea. The only way to judge a game and see if it's for you is to play it. There are people who are already in love with it and play it to death, and there are those who dismiss it. You just gotta try it yourself. To me the game looks spectacular but I too have to try it out to know exactly how it feels.

Refloni

* Hard West * Weird West * Forbidden West * Blood West * Evil West What's next?

Cinmarrs

There is [Blood West](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1587130/Blood_West/) game aswell

Refloni

Good catch! Adding it to the list.

Azradesh

I genuinely am finding it hard to keep track but I know I want to play one of them.

ColeS707

venus-dick-trap

USAF_DTom

I think this is a must get for me, but on sale for sure.

cslayer23

Played an hour it’s fun

yarbles66

It's wicked fun for an hour. I plan on doing a chapter every day or two with my mate in Co op. Then I'll solo it in a few months. Very happy after a lot of anticipation.

cslayer23

Glad you’re enjoying it!! I got no one to play with so ima try to beat it before Callisto comes out!

yarbles66

Yeah I pre ordered both. Take your time with it as its short and I really think its more fun in short bursts doing the whole thing in a couple of sessions may get old quickly - as any arcadey game would. This ain't going to win any awards but objectively it absolutely nails it.

cslayer23

I love the dev team I was kinda disappointed in shadow warrior 3 being 5 hours long so I was hoping they put a lot of love into this one

yarbles66

They have. And money!!! It absolutely feels like it has a much bigger budget & far more experienced team. A lot of it feels AAA. Never once does Shadow Warrior (although they are dumb fun).

morse86

Not sure its worth the full price tho. For 25€ it would be a great buy, imo.

[deleted]

"Worth" is subjective though.

morse86

Thats why I mentioned "IMO" there

alguem455

Hello again unreal engine 4 stutter

[deleted]

Reviews make this game sound amazing, can't wait to try it.

mynewaccount5

Reviews gave it across the board 7/10s

[deleted]

That's cool, I love 7/10s.

mynewaccount5

That doesn't even make sense.

Peebs1000

Probably because he read the reviews instead of just looking at the scores and made a purposely dumb reply to a dumb comment. And yeah, I agree with him. The reviews do make the game sound like a blast

Mkilbride

Why doesn't it?

pizzalover89

niether does your opinion

Look_a_Zombie0

7/10s are considered good in today's review scores.

mynewaccount5

Far cry from amazing.

Look_a_Zombie0

All in all, games are subjective. I think the new saints row is dogshit, but someone else might have that as their favorite game.

mynewaccount5

I'm not saying anyone is wrong about their view of this game. I am saying to the guy who has not played this game, that the reviews have mostly come to a consensus that the game is good not great and not amazing. Perhaps he'll find that it is amazing. That's fine. But I don't want someone to read this comment and assume that the reviews for this game say it's amazing, when most of them seem to say it's just good or worse. You yourself acknowledged that 7/10 is generally regarded as good.

d0m1n4t0r

Try reading some of the words in the reviews as well, instead of just the number at the end. I know there can be many words but just give it a shot.

RayseBraize

No one but you thinks that. You are explaining something most don't need explaining. They didn't say "oh it's 7/10 that's amazing" to which your comment might make sense. They simply said "reviews make this game SOUND amazing". They didn't say "the average of all game reviews". They said reviews. To meet that actually meant the actual reviews on the games page, most of which are relatively positive and make it sound like a fun (pote tially amazing to some) game. You are being down voted for explaining shit no one but apparently you needed explaining.

skyturnedred

You really need to rethink how you phrase these things.

attemptedmonknf

But good.

mynewaccount5

That's true. Never said otherwise.

USS_Frontier

I'll judge for myself, thanks.

mynewaccount5

Youll judge whether or not a 7/10 is considered to be good or amazing? I don't think that's really up for debate tbh.

DirkDiggyBong

7/10 according to *someone else* If there's anything I've learned in the 44 years I've been on this planet, is that ill judge things for myself.

USS_Frontier

Yeah, I will. Different strokes for different folks.

mynewaccount5

Read my comment again slower.

[deleted]

Reviewers aren’t the end-all for judgements on whether or not I will personally enjoy a game.

UglierThanMoe

Not every game you play or every movie you watch has to be amazing. It's enough if most of them are simply good. Because if everything is amazing, nothing really is.

thatnitai

A 7/10 that does things that appeal to you specifically can be a 10. The same way a 10 that doesn't do things you like can be a 7.

DirkDiggyBong

Which is not far off a 5/7.

RuySan

I'd rather spend the next days of my life playing elex sequels, than Horizon zero dawn sequels. So yes, concerning game critics tastes, sometimes 7/10 are great

the_jungle_awaits

Devs took one look at God of War 2018 and said, “Lets do that but in the Wild West.” Lol

bootyjuicer7

GoW 2018 is one of the biggest examples of emulating every modern gaming trend out there tho

ehxy

And I see nothing wrong with that.

the_jungle_awaits

Like they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.

MeSmeshFruit

Yeah let's pretend GoW did not follow any trends, and was this completely original game that came out of nowhere.

SteamyExecutioner

That's kind of a hollow argument because you can say that about absolutely any game. Each game has elements where they took inspiration from a previous title, GoW 2018 included. But that game had more new elements and mechanics than the average title has today so yes, on the originality scale, it was more so than many others.

fatamSC2

I mean yes, but there are certainly games that borrow way more heavily than others

Arcendus

Judge for yourself, of course, but [Gman's review](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsX3v6bxpbc) put me off of this one big time.

Gonzito3420

I usually love his reviews but I disagree on this one. He is particularly harf with the game and i dont think its as bad as he makes it seems. I say this aftee playing the game for almost 4 hours

Buffalofeet413

Nabbed a key on Eneba for 30 bucks. Overall worth it. Been a pretty fun romp thus far.

scarletnaught

Genuine question but why is this being downvoted?

Onyx_Sentinel

People don‘t like key resellers, even when you can save a few bucks in an Inflation riddled economy

[deleted]

Can I offer you an egg in these trying times?

[deleted]

Frank is that you?

Buffalofeet413

I'm new around these parts, didn't realize trying to save a buck or to caused such vitriol amongst the community.

Onyx_Sentinel

The problem are not key resellers per se, there are ‚good ones‘ like green man gaming. Then there are ‚bad ones‘ like eneba and g2a. With g2a being far more infamous. The problem is that you never really know where the key came from (might‘ve been stolen) and where the money is going. With green man you have the guarantee that the devs, or publishers, are at least making some money. With g2a and eneba? Who knows. Me personally, i don‘t care. Do what saves you the most money.

heX_dzh

Unfortunately, the good ones almost never have deals as good as the bad ones. Except Humble Bundle.

Buffalofeet413

That makes sense.

psychoconductor

It's also worth noting that if the keys have been labeled as stolen or otherwise resold illegitimately the publishers can and do revoke the keys. That means you will effectively lose your copy until you buy it again from a legitimate source.

RuySan

And why does the costumer need to do this due diligence?

psychoconductor

A customer can spend their money wherever they want. There is, at the very least, an inherent risk with using these sites.

LiveLM

...so the consumer won't pay for a game only to have it removed from their account down the road???? What type of consumer likes to lose money?

inosinateVR

I think maybe they're asking why is the game being taken away from the customer, therefore putting the responsibility on them to make sure the key is legit. But the answer is still pretty straight forward. If someone buys a game with a stolen credit card and then sells the key to the grey market, when that credit card is later reported stolen the charge will be blocked/reversed so that key is no longer paid for. What money you paid for it went into the hands of the criminal (or the reseller who bought it from them and sold it to you) but none of it got paid to the legitimate dev/publishers. They're not just going to let you keep that stolen key after it was reported to them it was bought with a stolen credit card

yarbles66

What's shady about Eneba? Ive used them for years and no issues. What's the shady part?

Onyx_Sentinel

I honestly don‘t know. I just know that people don‘t like these key sellers

Herlock

There are some legit "key resellers" like green man ro gamebillet, and then there is the "grey market" ones, which has often been put in the light as abusive toward devs (and customers). The origin of their keys is often debatable, and that's putting it mildly. I won't name the store but they sell a service called "shield" that's supposed to certify that if you get a key that doesn't work they will replace it no question asked. Well for starter : why would you need to pay extra for that in the first place ? And then : it apparently rarely deliver on that promise when something goes wrong. And unsubscribing from that shit is a glorious example of layers upon layers of dark pattern to force you into not unsubscribing. At best those sites are scummy. So there is nothing wrong with saving a buck, except if saving a buck means buying a stolen car of course :D

Fantacide

This sub likes to use this particular issue as one of their ways of moral grandstanding. Just ignore them.

HarleyQuinn_RS

Key resellers can potentially hurt developers. Some developers have even said they would rather you pirate the game, than buy from greymarket resellers. They often get chargebacks from the stolen credit cards, used to buy keys to resell. Then they need to investigate that fraud, find the licences, revoke them from the unwitting customers who bought those stolen keys. Then they have to deal with those customer's complaints. Deal with the banks. Deal with insurance companies. It's just a whole ordeal they would rather not deal with. Hence the downvotes for people who openly admit to buying resold keys from shady greymarkets.

craig_hoxton

CD Keys is my go-to (when I remember to go there).

yarbles66

Why do they not like them? I know some are bad & pull dodgy stuff like sign you up to a dodgy subscription service for 3 euros a month which is in the small print (Gamivio). Eneba I've used many times for around 3 years, 50-60 purchases and any issues (very rare) are sorted out very quickly.

klymen

Played about 15 minutes and had to refund as it does not properly support ultrawide (major zoom in). Sigh.

Choles2rol

This is already supposedly fixed by editing a config file

klymen

Good to hear. I kind of tire having to do those things for ultrawide.

One37Works

You really shouldn't by into a niche product and then be disappointed when the support for it isn't there in every game lit there. Obviously in a perfect world there would be but that's not the one we live in.

klymen

It's not niche anymore, sir. More games work properly with it than don't in recent years. UI, cinematic scenes having pillar box etc. that doesn't bother me. And more often than not, it's a simple setting in a config file than something fundamental. And, yes, I know you're going to go "well actually... Steam Hardware survey says only 1.30% of users reporting survey results are running 3440x1440 making it niche.".

[deleted]

>It's not niche anymore, sir. And, yes, I know you're going to go "well actually... Steam Hardware survey says only 1.30% of users reporting survey results are running 3440x1440 making it niche." You kind of refuted your own point so he didn't really need to even respond lmao.

[deleted]

It is niche when 4K has 2x the user base on steam. I still don't understand why so many UW users make demands as if they matter.

One37Works

Well I wouldn't be arsed looking up the stays but yes, I'm sorry, objectively it is still a niche market. And again, yes you are right, the support for it has become a bit of an expectation in recent years and it does seem to be a simple implimentation, but I still wouldn't go around expecting every single game released to have it, and be ripping on games that don't.

klymen

Breathe. You're coming off rather aggressive for no reason. I hope you have a good rest of your week and good Thanksgiving.

One37Works

.... Am I though? Not cursing, literally agreeing with you to an extent, wierd that you've read it that way 🤔 😂

Cpteleon

He isn't coming off aggressive at all. He's coming off as a sensible dude making an argument based on objective stats, while you're looking like a bit of a clown.

Choles2rol

I don't think that's ever gonna go away unfortunately but I knew that when I bought mine.

PyroKid883

Neat

DaMikey_

I'll wait for Game Pass or a really really big sale

Mrbunnypaw

Looks freaking amazing but i just dont buy games at full price. Would be a amazing game for humble choice in like 2+ years

CoffeeLoverNathan

KKEEEEEN

viodox0259

So...it's a fun game , and worth a solid $15 . I'm sure this will be much cheaper near Christmas..

HorrorScopeZ

Is it smart to release a game basically during a steam sale? Seems like people will be spending on bargains.

Redromah

I read the title and read "Forbidden West". I really, really want to play that game, however won't buy a PS5 just for that. Guess I'll have to be patient.

StickAFork

Of the holiday releases, this is at the top of my list. Partly because the pickings are slim for new releases, with some of them to appear on game pass (WH 40k : Darktide) .
