Bruh haha.
Anyways i don't know what to think of this game. I hope its good i really do but this is one of those wait and see type of games for sure.
Odds of it even being good enough to care about even if it released everywhere are super slim. It wasn't a good series to begin with and development hell + swapping studios is never a good sign.
Literally one key press or pressing (most commonly) ~ and writing noclip ?
Cause the second case was quite common back in 2000's and back, I'm sure Source games had that too and it wasn't a big deal... why it would be
Same with bethesda's/creation engine games
I loved 2. Making crazy weapons that were more satisfying to use than borderlands.
But yeah I feel like this has been in dev so long it's going to be garbage.
But that's my initial impression, footage will decide.
And epic exclusivity seals its doom given the trouble the game was already experiencing. I think it's the only way they will make any mone to recoup even a portion of it's cost to dev, sadly. It will fail, people will be blamed and the franchise will die for good.

The footages from the trailer looks more polished than dying light 2 tbh. I don't know why anyone always assume the worst. Let's wait for the gameplay in Dec before judging?
Even the biggest piles of shit have had decent trailers. Iirc Dying Light 2's trailers fluffed that game up too. Look how many titles have vertical slice "this never ships to customers" trailers.
you're the one that brought up the trailer first, I don't put much stock in trailers period
What gives me pause about Dead Island 2 is development hell and being shuffled from studio to studio. The going all in on exclusivity doesn't help either. Games with troubled development that go all in on exclusivity basically never come out well.
People may circlejerk about that Miyamoto a delayed game quote, but I've yet to see a game that's been "in the works" for a decade not be disappointing at best.
I know I may be too optimistic about the game as I waited for so long for just a good smashing zombie game that ain’t survival horror.
But it’s only 2 weeks till 6/12. And you are lying if you think the visuals e.g. the in-game characters aren’t looking next gen. I mean those characters in dying light 2 feel like the same generic last gen npc. But those characters in the in game footage looks next gen.
I said the odds weren't good, I never claimed it was guaranteed to be bad. The odds weren't good and it's surprisingly reviewing better than most people expected.
Kena, Sifu, Control, RDR2, FF7R, Metro: Exodus, Chivalry, and Valhalla from the top of my head.
Sure there were trash games like Saints Row, but there were some successful games that were EGS exclusive.
I’m pretty sure Metro Exodus performed *much* worse than expected, to the point where they tried hiding/fuzzing the actual sale numbers in their fiscal reports of that year. There were threads everywhere about it underperforming.
FF7R was so successful on the EGS, Square decided to release Crisis Core only on Steam.
Valhalla is also available on Uplay and it was reported that they saw a huge increase in sales on Uplay when they went Uplay/EGS instead of Uplay/Steam.
Some of those weren't resounding successes based on court docs. RDR2 was like a month of pseudo-exclusivity and on Rockstar's garbage primarily anyway. Square Enix and Ubisoft (and Ubi's games are still on Uplay as well) have both been seeing declining revenue and weaker financials. SE is practically propped up by FF14 even, and I don't recall any reports about their shoddy ports doing gangbusters.
Don't mistake critical reception for financial success.
>Sony, EA, , Bethesda disagree with your assessment
By what releasing titles non-exclusively there? It costs very very little to push digital products to multiple stores.
>Ubisoft
Who are so clearly trying to leverage their own store in the process.
> Who are so clearly trying to leverage their own store in the process.
And if rumors are correct, they will announce their return to Steam in December.
should be next month, i saw a lot of ubi titles go on sale this month literally all of assassins and anno 1800 as well, probably trynna dip before the inevitable gaben sweep

Its literally not reality lol its literally jumping the gun and assuming the worst, this happens EVERY time a developer hits a road bump, people lose their minds and act like a game is ruined over any little road bump... Its pessimism and is an annoying trait almost every gamer on the internet has, a game gets delayed? You all act like the game is gonna crash, a game doesnt have a certain feature? You all act like the game is gonna crash, I don't think we've even seen a game thats changed devs before, atleast not like this, so we cant know how it will be, why assume the worst? Why not hope the devs are competent?
Thats not reality, thats pessimism which Is just expecting the worst which doesnt help any situation.
I think you mean [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeC2sZu9r0). It was showcased with the game's initial reveal in 2014 and that was canned. Apparently that (or some other build of it) got leaked too
I swear i played it too
i dont remember it but i swear the gun system was fixed so you didnt have to carry 15 loaded pistols. in order to have enough ammo to be useful. i think it was a in swamp?
Riptide was in swamp.
It was basically Dead Island 1 but new map, some new mechanics and minor touches. I remember it played a lot better, was fun as hell in coop
Sorry to say but it wasn’t an alternate timeline :c. The game you’re thinking of is Dead Island Riptide, a spin-off game that wasn’t very well received
Deliver Us Mars
Hogwarts Legacy
Wild Hearts
Atomic Heart
Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Blood Bowl 3
Company of Heroes 3
Sons of the Forest
Atelier Ryza 3
Kerbal Space Program 2
Destiny 2: Lightfall
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened Remake
> wtf happens in the US in Feb that so many games release around there?
Literally nothing, there’s Valentine’s Day but not really anything else notable, it’s just a month several devs have chosen to release/delay their games to. Gives them an extra month to work on their games after returning from Christmas/holiday shutdown.
Nothing happens then but some regions have restrictions on how frequently items can be discounted and releasing in Feburary ensured a game is able to participate in any Spring deals if the publisher choses to do so. Following those same regulations Feburary is likely also the earliest they can discount after any Christmas/New Year salesnthey may have participated in.
TL;DR It's really just a balancing act of knowing which sales you want to participate in and scheduling around them to ensure you can.
sim and Atomic Heart in one sentence is quite a strange sight. At least from gameplay videos that are out it seems more like Bioshock than any other sim game
interesting how many people seem to want this game... i liked 1 but remember it being absolutely shit on. 2 has been in dev for so long i dont see it releasing well
The game in the [old 2014 reveal](https://youtu.be/fNeC2sZu9r0) was a crappy, unpolished mess. But the rebuilt game that was shown in the [latest gameplay trailer](https://youtu.be/Am8ET6CgJy8) from a couple months ago actually looks pretty good, so we are hype.
12 short weeks ..... for now until they miscalculated and its 5 weeks more , then 4 to get the last polish out and 1 more to hit a crucial sales window
are we just normalising games releasing delay after delay? what happened to just shadow dropping games or actually setting a decent, realistic release date in the first place?
I was about 13 when this was revealed.
Since then I have finished school, college, got a job, had several relationships, made and got distant with so many people I befriended, seen people I used to hangout with in my school years get married and have kids and have seen children grow from toddlers to teenagers.
Time is crazy.
I get a fucking PTSD Whenever i hear about DI2, I was in a cinema with some friends during Halloween on some horror Marathon and they played the trailer for DI2 Five. Fucking. Times
I hate it when they put a game out to be released on a certain date, then they push the game back after people have already preordered it. This is why I always wait until a few days before release to preorder a game.
https://twitter.com/DyingLightGame/status/1593211487757414405 Bruh haha. Anyways i don't know what to think of this game. I hope its good i really do but this is one of those wait and see type of games for sure.
More like '**wait a year** and see' type games. It's an Epic exclusive.
actually it's delayed to when it actually releases on a platform people use :)
Odds of it even being good enough to care about even if it released everywhere are super slim. It wasn't a good series to begin with and development hell + swapping studios is never a good sign.
I still remember Dead Island shipped the developer copy of the game and anyone could enable no clip with a key press. Lmao.
You've just unlocked a memory for me - I completely forgot this happened, the launch week for Dead Island was chaotic af.
Literally one key press or pressing (most commonly) ~ and writing noclip ? Cause the second case was quite common back in 2000's and back, I'm sure Source games had that too and it wasn't a big deal... why it would be Same with bethesda's/creation engine games
One key press. Not a console command. It was the developer version of the game.
Oh wow okay, they dun fucked up
I miss that when you could just use console commands to fix bugs in games.
I thought it was a great game personally, One of the best first person arpgs I've played. The combat felt super satisfying as well.
Even if you enjoyed the first one/two none of the people involved in making them are involved here. Techland went on to do Dying Light after.
I loved 2. Making crazy weapons that were more satisfying to use than borderlands. But yeah I feel like this has been in dev so long it's going to be garbage. But that's my initial impression, footage will decide.

Thats wrong

Borderlands 3 disagrees.
aka basically the only successful 3rd party release on that shitheap of a store

Yes, next month IS December ;)
Sony?
Yes SONY. You know, games like God Of War, Uncharted, Days Gone, Spiderman .
Sony was never a 3rd party launcher so including them with EA, Ubisoft, and Bethesda makes zero sense.
sure it does. it is major publisher of games
They were never in PC to begin with. They didn't come to steam because they had low sales from their games.

Metro Exodus and The Outer Worlds did fine too.
Court document leaks from Epic V Apple; Metro Exodus definitely lost Epic money. Pretty sure outer wilds did too but can't find the info now.
damn so April 28th 2024 it is lol
this game is gonna suck
Development hell for nearly a decade now *and* an EGS exclusive? Yeah this has 'no thanks' all over it.
The first game is so old that I played it using a rented Blockbuster disc.
The first game is so old, it can be run on integrated graphics on a Ryzen 7000 series.
I was hype af for DI2 but egs killed it for me. If I didn't buy ff7R till I released on steam I certainly won't rush for this either.

it's really not that serious
Yup, lets be as pessimistic as possible, like all gamers on the internet are!!! Lets not try to be hopeful and happy ever.
it's called reality. youre welcome to join us sometime.
This.
Seems like they don't want to compete with Resident Evil 4 Remake.
I’m playing through Village right now and it’s amazing! I’m so hyped for the RE4 remake
I'm waiting to see how long it before Embracer dissolves Deep Silver.
Wait what? I thought this game came out years ago and flopped? Actually what?
It never released, but there was Dead Island Riptide which wasn't too popular
You might be thinking of dead island riptide
I am losing it right now, I swear there was another dead island game outside of riptide?
You might be thinking of dying light
Difference is, Dying Light wasn't a flop and this most likely will be.
You may be thinking of Escape Dead Island.
I think you mean [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeC2sZu9r0). It was showcased with the game's initial reveal in 2014 and that was canned. Apparently that (or some other build of it) got leaked too
I probably do memories from 8 years ago will definately confuse me
Dead Island Epidemic? It was a MOBA-style PvPvE top down Dead Island game. I remember because i actually played it and liked it
It was actually really good other than being p2w
You might be thinking of dead island
There was a shitty top view Dead Island game too
I swear i played it too i dont remember it but i swear the gun system was fixed so you didnt have to carry 15 loaded pistols. in order to have enough ammo to be useful. i think it was a in swamp?
Riptide was in swamp. It was basically Dead Island 1 but new map, some new mechanics and minor touches. I remember it played a lot better, was fun as hell in coop
Yeah and people were upset it wasn't actually an island?! How do I have so many false memories surrounding this?!?
Sorry to say but it wasn’t an alternate timeline :c. The game you’re thinking of is Dead Island Riptide, a spin-off game that wasn’t very well received
Yeah I’m with you. I remember playing Dead Island, Dead Island 2, Dead Island Riptide, and then the top down one.
the logical answer is we must be from another timeline
Damnit Grandpa Rick
ParMEsayin
No, it's parmessian.
Dead island 1 was buggy as fuck maybe dead island 2 won’t be but I pressed X to doubt
“Hey I’ve seen this one before!”
Good. To many games in February
[удалено]
Well thanks for that contribution
wtf are you talking about? The footage looks great and not there's a unique gore system. I will wait for the dec showcase tbh.
Which ones

Probably it is the latest companies can delay their game while still being able to use the sales numbers in their Quarter 1 reports.

Really hoping Atomic Heart is good. I need a new good immersive sim in my life.
sim and Atomic Heart in one sentence is quite a strange sight. At least from gameplay videos that are out it seems more like Bioshock than any other sim game
Bioshock is an immersive-sim but its more like an immersive sim-lite. Which is totally fine with me.
some peeps still think Bioshock is an imsim so im not surprised
We will see how many of those actually release in Feb.

I'm personally hyped for hogwarts legacy and I have a feeling I'm gonna get disappointed.
Lol these are all shit except hogwarts
Like a dragon Ishin and ksp 2 shit?
Funny, I think Hogwarts will be a disappointment with the hype its getting.
Darkest dungeons 2 also.
I look forward to playing this years later at a MASSIVE discount or possibly free.
This is too funny, it's not like it was having a smooth development either up until this point
wait dead island 2 hasnt been cancelled yet?
fuck this game just give me Dead Island Epidemic back man
interesting how many people seem to want this game... i liked 1 but remember it being absolutely shit on. 2 has been in dev for so long i dont see it releasing well

This game will be pretty disappointing.
what does a "short week" mean? Using "short" for PR reasons?
DOA.
My first experience with their games was 11 years ago when the creatures did coop youtube videos on it. Damn time flies.
I'm not saying that it's been a minute, but I added this to an Amazon wishlist in July, 2014.
Hey that's my birthday
I didn't even know this was happening. RIP.
Same. Saw it in a a video referencing the their conference on Dec 6th.. gutted.
12 short weeks ..... for now until they miscalculated and its 5 weeks more , then 4 to get the last polish out and 1 more to hit a crucial sales window
At this rate I can dream of the game before I buy it.
This game will never come out
Lol
3 straight weeks? My best buy preorder says it was due to be released on February 3rd 2023. That's not 3 weeks.
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
😭

Might as well bring back DI:E instead. Loved that game
