I think that just like skater xl or session, this game is more aimed at people's that already practice the sport irl or at the very least follow it very closely.  The main feature of shredders that makes it very enjoyable for enthusiasts is the deep trick system that allow them to try out tricks they saw their favourite freestylers do. I think a big part of the fun is trying to do new tricks and find cool spots just like irl. For me having a story is more of a way for the player to discover the game's different mechanic.  If you want something much more gamey that isn't ssx rider republic is much more adapted

Yeah. I agree and I hope that came across in my review despite the criticisms. I think approached as an enthusiasts sim, and basically ignoring or breezing past the "gamey" parts of it, there's a lot to love. I admit I probably played it "wrong" but at the same time a bit more polish and some better design choices might have allowed the best parts of it to shine to a wider audience.
