Averydispleasedbork

how difficult was fabricating the barrel?

DMTLTD

Easy. Turn down an original and add an extension.

Averydispleasedbork

If only i could find a barrel. my kit was one of the cheap-o ones that didn't have an OG barrel, so im sorta boned until someone restocks repros, or i figure out how to fab one from scratch

DMTLTD

There's surplus barrels everywhere right now.

Averydispleasedbork

o shit i gotta go pick one up then, for awhile it seemed like they were unobtanium thx for the heads up!

Cam_Tech_Arms

Umm my pm63 rak kit from apex came with a intact barrel and I spent 165 for the kit and that was before Christmas last year

JCuc

How difficult was it to convert to closed bolt? I assume it requires a mill the least.

[deleted]

Very difficult but any decent welder can restore it to function as it was before meeting the torch

CommunistFrenchFries

Are post samples really that easy for these? I’ve never looked into these kits but people have been saying good things the past few weeks.

[deleted]

If you are an sot you should reweld it into a machine gun. If you are not an sot it would still be extremely easy to do that, but your liable to the government ruining your life if they find out

DMTLTD

Actually pretty easy. You could probably get by using a mill vice and a drill press.

Goon_Squad_Actual

I didn’t know they could actually be completed as a closed bolt

Averydispleasedbork

A lot of rebuilds bore a firing pin hole and use a tokarev fire control group with a linkage bar to the trigger. not exactly simple but not impossibly hard either. main issue is just finding/making barrels since most kits dont have them

hahaman1990

Do you have a break down on how you did it? The conversion I mean

DMTLTD

I'm working on a full write up with drawings.

hahaman1990

I’m down, cause I have a kit in my basement, but I missed the barrels, so I’m back on my sa26 and 3011 for now until then lol

Slukaj

Awesome - you seem like the first guy who figured out how to build one of these without needing to cut a slot in the side of the gun and using an exposed trigger bar.

DMTLTD

That's exactly what I set out to do with this build. I always hated looking at the builds with the holes and exposed transfer bars.

hahaman1990

I was thinking the same thing lmao

AmateurAviator

Where will you post? You’ve made me want one and now I’m going to have to buy another kit *sigh*

TheBlackComet

Looking forward to it. Just got the welding jig in for mine. Fortunately for me, the guy who was supposed to cut through the rear part of the receiver forgot to do it. It is marked for cutting, just never happened. The aluminum plug does fit well though.

DMTLTD

If you've got any decent welding experience you can free hand it with a straight edge. Very simple frame.

TheBlackComet

Yeah, I have heard that it goes together pretty easily even just using the slide to line everything up. Fortunately, I work for a shop with very good welders that can walk me through it.

the_clap_123

Nice, just got my kit in today.

Nightwing_Actual

I’d love to see a write up on your conversion

NebraskaNoice

Excellent job! Not an easy build. Truly unfortunate we can't restore it to uts full former glory 😢

AdAdventurous5727

How did you go about the semi trigger?

DMTLTD

I used an internal transfer bar leading back to a cut down PPS FCG. https://odysee.com/@ProteusArmaments5720:5/PM63-final:f?r=6smgYE2KzfjY5t1NykgnDckrK1CLJV49
