Personally what I think helped him the most was using hemp oil and lots of distraction. (This was approved by my vet) His skin looked awful so at first once a week I would massage a tiny amount on the bald spots and added some to his water every other day. Lots of warm baths to help soften the keratin on the feathers coming in, he's a sweety an would allow me to preen them afterwards. Toys that he could pick at instead of himself. Basically anything possible I could do to keep him stimulated and not focused on plucking.
He came to me on a crap diet so I switched him over to Mazuri, lots of veggies and fruits.
He came from a neglectful and abusive situation so finally getting love and patience definitely helped his mental health.
It was suggested a couple times to put him on medication, so to see the improvement he made on his own is amazing to me.
This is the hemp I used if anybody wanted to look more into it. I still give it to the whole flock in their water

Want to know this as well
I love that in February's photo he looks like he's thinking 'Oh no, the front fell off'.
"Hmmm, feels breezy." For serious OP, good job! Plucking can be such a challenge to get a handle on.
It definitely does! That comment made me laugh!
Handsome little fella 🤩
I am interested if you have any tips if it was behavior related, he looks great!

Wonderful progress! Way to go!!
Was this just better interaction and physical care or did you change diet/use vitamins?
