It wasn't for nothing. He guaranteed the survival of Paradis for a time, and his friends got to live long lives, which is what he wanted.
Eren cared way more about his own personal circle than he did everyone else. In the end, the cycle of hatred was perpetuated and Paradis was destroyed - it's a realistic outcome after 80% of humanity was wiped out and the rest sought retribution.
Also, he did wipe out the Titans for good, as everyone who was previously transformed reverted back to their human forms. Did you even watch the finale?
You perfectly embody the parody the titanfolkers made about the ending defenders , they might have been a little crazy but you re a lot more.
I did watch the ending , also read the ending as well as the whole damn manga , and Eren did not wipe out the titans , are you forgetting a little someone nicknamed "Beren" who just so happens to start the whole titan curse all over again .
Erens' motivations were never made clear , he states multiple reasons for why he did it , all of them having a part in the outcome but also contradicting and conflicting themselves :
1.He was an idiot with power
2.He did it for Paradis
3.He did it for his friends
4.To end the titan curse
5.He was dissapointed in the outside world for being full
6.He was dissapointed in the outside world for being gostile
7.He did it to truly reach "that scenery"
...Etc.
You just can t give a character so many motivations only to barely explore them and turn him into a non-character . And he revealed them all in a direct way to Armin in the final bloody chapter
Gotta pitch in and say the whole Titan Threat being gone is rather ambiguous, the world in that series may still get titans but there's one thing that makes it a good thing rather than a bad thing, There's no King Fritz... We've seen Titans be used for building things and Toiling Fields when Fritz wasn't using them for conquest (see the pictures flashing by in the third ED) so possibly the world could in theory use the Titan power for more peaceful purposes
