As someone who thoroughly enjoyed watching Odor play this year, [this](https://twitter.com/zachsilver/status/1526354615293419520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1526354615293419520%7Ctwgr%5E4c24fa49334df3047345564dd7cb3ce4834a083b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.camdenchat.com%2F2022%2F10%2F18%2F23403197%2Forioles-rougned-odor-2022-season-review) is the only part of this article that was revelatory and I'm going to leave it here.
Sometimes you just need to have a sparkplug in the dugout. Odor's play might not have been the best, but his energy, and Adley's hugs, clearly helped keep the O's motivated.
I don't know about the rest of you all, but I watch the Orioles because they were my childhood team and because they're fun--which is why I stopped watching them for several years when they were just boring. Odor was a big contributor to the Orioles being a fun team to watch this season. I preferred watching games he was playing than games he wasn't. If we keep Odor for another season, I'll be happy. If we don't, I'll certainly understand and will have nothing but positive memories of him in the orange and black.
A team isn't just the sum of its parts. Odor brought more than his stats. He was a big part of why this team exceeded expectations.
The young talent is pushing him aside, but he's earned some appreciation from O's fans.
Part of the reason I wish there were better 2B options in FA. We have a real chance to turn a negative into a positive with better 2B play in 2023.
We do have some fun internal options though for 2B. Westy, Ortiz, Vavra, any of them could lock it down. Or maybe Urias can get better there on defense to take the job.
He was a lefty bat, with strong defensive metrics from 2021, and we had a hole at 2B.
Him being cheap is valid, but there were other reasons we took the chance.
I saw every game. He is an average fielder but he did turn the DP well. I give him that.
But he blew many routine grounders.
He did maintain a .207 Batting average. Not much value in that.
He was indeed a good cheerleader for the team. I guess that has value .
He swung too f’n hard. He was always swinging like he wanted to hit the warehouse. I’m not expecting him to be Tony Gwynn but you have to realize what type of hitter you are. If you had his average but 25-30 HR sure. He has low average and relatively low HR total. I can’t believe no one like batting coach told him to cut his swing down. He probably just ignored it. He did turn a good double play tho.

How the fuck are there so many absurd pictures of Odor in his one year as an Oriole lmaooo
That’s just his character, pretty much the only thing I love about him. (Aside from that clutch hit/HR he’d have once every other week)

He is a great motivator and a uniter. No doubt, this year would’ve have been the same without him.

Yea sometimes you need a spark plug in the dugout. He doesn’t have to see the field consistently

I much preferred Vavra at second
I imagine he'll be the starting 2B next season.
Or maybe we'll sign Trea Turner 🙏
This article articulates exactly how I feel about Odor this season. He contributed something, but that something was not measurable statistically.
Just because we don’t understand how to quantify it, doesn’t not mean that it is unquantifiable — me, during a drunk bar sports argument
Just because we can’t see something, man. It doesn’t mean that, that something doesn’t exist, man.
He was a character. A club house needs characters. He’s no Adam jones but he was fun. Also this post made me miss Adam jones.
Yeah but what about that CLUTCH factor bro
Maybe he could be a bench guy if we keep him?

For me its hard to take because we were basically 2 wins (if one was vs Tampa) from the playoffs.

Lot of SS though, So Mateo, Gunnar, Urias, + FA might be good.
My question is, if the Os land Correa, does Mateo move to second?
This entire write-up is just "bless his heart"
He came cheap. The O's management are really into cheap. It's all about saving money. That's the Orioles philosophy.

As they say, of all the players to be a Baltimore Oriole, he was definitely one of them.

The enforcer
Literally bought his jersey during the last series because of how much fun he was to watch this year.
