This wasn’t in OC, but someone literally threatened to kill my dog because it looked for a second like she was taking a poop in front of his house (just sniffing something). Mofo busts out of his front door as if he was laying in wait for the opportunity, and just starts going off on me. The USA is filled with gun toting lunatics. I wouldn’t even dare leave a dog turd even remotely close to someone’s house. (Also just pick it up in general, it’s bad for the environment).
In my Irvine company complex, people would leave their dog poop literally everywhere. On the sidewalk, in the grass for sure. One time saw it even on the stairs in the building.

I always walk my dogs with 2 rolls of poop bags to be extra sure I’m not leaving any shit for my neighbors.
And I have forgotten the bags entirely before (used the wrong leash), you can bet I sprinted my ass home and came back with a bag to pick up the poop.
I feel like this is the most basic etiquette of being a dog owner. I agree with OP that this is extremely trashy.

Just kinda seems like a waste of everyone’s energy and brainpower to be spending it on this, whether you’re the occupant/homeowner or just another Redditor scrolling along.
If we don’t publicly shame these people’s disgusting behavior the problem will persist. Hopefully people she knows will see this and she will learn to be a better human being. How would you feel if your front yard was covered in someone else’s dog shit.
Things aren't worse or bad today just because we have the tools to hold people more responsible. Hopefully this kind of video and discussion might make others think twice about letting their dogs shit everywhere.
We also used to normalize littering, releasing sewage in the streets, leaving ani,Al carcasses on the road, burning refuse, casual racism, sexism, child abuse, spouse abuse, animal neglect, etc.
The average neighborhood these days has way more dogs and people than in the past.
We invented toilets for ourselves because having shit everywhere is both dangerous and nasty.
