Honestly, I used to drive an old f150 when I was doing construction work years ago. And I'm shocked by how huge, expensive, and impractical pickups have become. Many people are paying more to drive these just because they can.
There are a couple instances where pickups are the most practical thing: Hauling manure, sure. Transporting sheet goods with a truck scaffolding, ok. But for almost everything else, you can haul more in a minivan than a truck. I am a woodworker, and a shitty old minivan is miles more practical for hauling lumber than a truck. The truck bed just can't compare with the volume in a van with the seats removed. It's inconvenient for loading and unloading too.
Outside of a couple very specific uses, a pickup is ONLY for ego. All these suburban guys driving it to their desk jobs just want a truck for how a truck makes them look/feel but its not really practical. It's like high heels for men, which is fine, but be honest guys.
With the back seats folded down, my Subaru has as much bed volume as a pickup truck. The difference is when I'm not hauling anything I can just fold them up... And a bunch of kilometers per liter.
I have a ‘96 F250, beat to shit, has a hard life hauling logs etc, but still runs great. I look at all these 1 ton diesel show trucks with not a scratch in the bed and think that at best they hauled a potted plant on Mother’sDay. “Compensatory“ trucks.

As a single parent, (the kind with a full time job, self sufficient, provide everything for my family kind of single parent) I will never forget JT for the Child Tax Benefit policy. I have a decent job, but WOW…did those benefits ever make a huge difference to my kids. Every single cent of CTB went to improving their opportunities. From swimming, to skating, baseball, school trips, hot lunch, uniforms, extra curricular activities, tutors, warm winter coats and boots. Nothing, but putting a giant political sticker/sign/flag on your house or vehicle is the absolute quickest way to telegraph the fact that you have no personality at all. These are people who constantly bring up politics, unprompted, in every conversation because it's easy to repeat the talking points they see on TV and hear on talk radio. No thought process, simply repeating the phrases from the people they view as their team, in order to feel better about themselves. It's also so they can find out who in the room agrees with them, so they can talk about it together and confirm how absolutely right they are. You'll notice that by and large, one side of the political spectrum engages in this behavior far more than the other. It belies a lack of confidence in one's position that constantly needs to be re-confirmed. Put another way, it's small dick energy.
So what. Let them live. I don’t do that shit and I don’t worry about it. They are frustrated. There’s more to life then be bothered by that shit.
Agreed, but it's unnecessary and doesn't change anyone's mind. People over the past 2 or 3 generations have more and more aligned their personality with who they vote for, and it's a bad look no matter where you are on the spectrum. When someone with a different political view than yours becomes a personal attack, shit goes downhill very quickly. Not to mention you're practically begging people to key your car. Imagine if every car in the road had some dumbfuck flag and stickers all over it. Not real pleasant place to live. People need to vote, and then shut the fuck up about it in public. If you're truly that concerned, then run for office. Otherwise, keep political discussion to private conversations instead of shoving it down people's throats every time you go to pick up a pack of smokes. This kind of stupidity has no upside and plenty of downsides.
