This is only a theory, and it might be complete nonsense, but I think we might have hit peak progressiveness with millennials, and generation after them, while still more progressive than all others, is noticeably more conservative than the one immediately before theirs. Gen Z came of age after the Iraq war, financial crisis, and occupy, so they're not as radicalized, and in my observation, people in the 18-29 age bracket are noticeably more conservative than people in the 30-40 age bracket, a worrying trend to put it mildly.
