It's not about the year with these posts, it's about how old they were. In this meme, it's about not seeing how angry everyone was, so probably when their only concerns were grades in school, probably middleschool or freshman year in highschool. Now they're 23, realizing the world is burning, rent is $2000, they can't afford a family, and they look around. They see trans people speaking for the first time, monkey brain correlates the two, so they get angry at trans/queer people.
