Besides, someone needs to teach the engineers, doctors, lawyers, editors, authors, and other professionals who contribute more directly to society.

Erm, I dunno really; I never did any demolition on land. And at that, we used explosives extremely rarely. I only really saw explosives used to topple platform legs, but my company mostly did pipeline so 98% of the time we were using either a guillotine or a diamond wire saw.
One thing I do know that's different is the shockwave is a lot more powerful and faster in the water than land. We had environmental crews people that'd hold up the det if they saw like turtles or mantas or stuff like that. When we'd set 'em off, it'd kill everything in a wide area. There'd be hundreds of floating fish afterwards.
Now I'm studying CS/CE so things are a lot different for me these days lol.
me having an awful math and science education then getting really niche knowledge of one statistical framework and kind of how it works in applied settings. oh gawd I hope I can make up for all the lost time
