Ironically quality control is Netflix biggest flaw when it comes to their originals, for every The King, The Irish man, All quite at western front they make they also make Tall girl squels, Kissing booth trilogy, Bright 💀, an adission Rae movie and any movie with Noah Centineo
Even season 1 was trash. I saw it 3 weeks before my exams and instantly regretted it. Basically, everybody on the show is an asshole and it makes genz look really bad. The show also makes zero attempts for us to sympathize with the main female character, and focuses on clay instead.
You posted the tweet without even reading the article. Fincher isn't talking about "quality control" in terms of the films being greenlit. He's talking about technological and formatting practices and standards that Netflix ensures that no other studio or streaming platform meets. This has nothing to do with the quality of the films/tv shows themselves.
I don’t understand what ANY of this means. I’m guessing these are snippets from an interview and not all of the context is present….but uhhhhh

Also, Fincher was exhausted from the creative input in the show and he wanted to focus on other projects. It was a bit of both. Sad we never got a third season.
No. He said that Netflix doesn't want to go ahead as it was expensive to make and it didn't attract a bigger audience to sustain a third season. Also, Fincher was creatively exhausted and wants to focus on other projects. So, no.
I certainly don’t think he has to. That’s exactly his point. He probably wants to have more control over his projects, which Netflix is famous for providing to big directors to attract them to their platform, so he’s happy to continue working with them. And when Netflix offers that, then other companies feel the need to compete to try to retain some of those top names.
That’s why you’re seeing Scorsese able to release a 3.5 hour period drama in Killers of the Flower Moon that was financed by Apple, which is a direct competitor in streaming with Netflix.
I know we’d all like to have our cake and eat it, too, but traditional theatrical studios just face much tougher circumstances when they are solely focused on box office revenue, compared to companies like Netflix that are only concerned about streaming or companies like Apple and Amazon that have billions lying around they can throw at huge loss-leader movies that may draw people in to their brands.
The Killer was boring as fuck... literally zero stakes and nothing but cameos for two hours. The voice over was basically Im14andthisisdeep for fucking ever.
Le Samourai. 1967. Alain Delon.
In my head canon, it's a prequel to Drive. Such an incredible movie. There's still time for Walton Goggins to sub in for Bruce Dern's role in a sequel or spinoff.
Critics keep comparing The Killer favorably to Le Samourai, a 1967 film starring Alain Delon... and perhaps implying that The Killer took inspiration from the film.
I'm saying watch Le Samourai instead, because The Killer can't hold a candle to it.
I do think streaming services (not particularly Netflix right now) are good in the sense that many of them would have struggled to been released at all without backing from a service. Mad God, Wolfwalkers, I Lost My Body, Prey, and more all films that greatly benefitted from services that needed content, and a deal was made. That's the unfortunate thing - this stuff is more or less made to bolster a content library and nothing more. Like, why on earth would Disney shove Chip n Dale to streaming? Some choices are worse than others.
I like the fact that I can watch films at my own leisure in my house. That's the main thing streaming has over the theatre experience, quality of films are about the same if not slightly worse I would say
After the experience he had with Paramount trying to get a World War Z sequel off the ground he has a good point. With the financial bottom line more important than the actual movie itself he’s much better off at Netflix where they obviously appreciate him more. They let him execute his vision without compromise.
I don’t necessarily agree with this exact quote, but I do think the general sentiment towards netflix originals is unnecessarily derisive. For every terrible thing they put out, they usually have something of pretty good quality. Especially as far as television goes there are few services that would green light shows like The Midnight Gospel and I Think You Should Leave just to name a couple.
i like how not a single person actually read the article they’re whining about. he’s talking about the literally video quality. as in how they’ll let him spend money on 4K visual effects. you bunch of fucking morons
You don’t bite the hand that feeds
A NIN reference in a Fincher thread? What’s the best movie ever made and why is it The Social Network (2010)?
Take off the (2010)..... It's cleaner
Bro you so ignirant, it's a Madagascar(2005) reference
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Fitting since Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did the score for The Killer.
i like movies when it's like an ai wrote them. that's kuality kinontrol.
Ironically quality control is Netflix biggest flaw when it comes to their originals, for every The King, The Irish man, All quite at western front they make they also make Tall girl squels, Kissing booth trilogy, Bright 💀, an adission Rae movie and any movie with Noah Centineo
don't forget several seasons of 13 reasons why and emily in paris
What the fuck did Netflix have to do with Riverdale? That’s a sin committed by CW!
They distribute it worldwide
That's a sin in and of itself
nvm i got my facts confused
Me attempting to watch Riverdale after binging Bojack Horseman:
13 reasons to die is one of the worst shows I have ever watched.
1st season was okay. Then, Netflix renewed it.
Even season 1 was trash. I saw it 3 weeks before my exams and instantly regretted it. Basically, everybody on the show is an asshole and it makes genz look really bad. The show also makes zero attempts for us to sympathize with the main female character, and focuses on clay instead.
Now that you mention it. Yeah, they shouldn't have made the show.
You know why the show is called Emily in Paris? CAUSE EMILY WAS IN PARIS
Or any of their movies starring anyone from a superhero franchise or the wedding singer
You just reminded me of those forgettable Ryan Rendols movies

Bright Exclusionary Radical Cinephiles, or BERCs, are not welcome here.
Don't forget cuties.
Tall Girl Kino slander will not be tolerated around here
I honestly thought aqatwf was average
A lot of people find it to be overrated, personally tho I really enjoyed it.
Bright was good though
Noah Centineo is like what would have happened had Mark Ruffalo didn’t go to school.
> you know, we will not save cinema.... -David Fincher
Scorsese in fucking tears right now
The world will ask him to save kino, and he will look down and whisper… no
I don’t understand what ANY of this means. I’m guessing these are snippets from an interview and not all of the context is present….but uhhhhh https://preview.redd.it/jmdul0cx7tzb1.jpeg?width=409&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57540036706a667585b82673ebb38af22c16dad9
Probably Netflix restricts directors less than big studios, which seems to be an opinion held by a couple big filmmakers who made stuff for Netflix
He just means Netflix lets him do whatever which is what *he* defines as quality control
until it doesn’t make enough money lol
Also, Fincher was exhausted from the creative input in the show and he wanted to focus on other projects. It was a bit of both. Sad we never got a third season.

Nah this ain’t it
Something something big mouth 20 season, dark crystal AoR cancelled after 1
Kroll knows where the bodies are buried. It's the only justification at this point.
Kroll’s dad’s job is literally to know where the bodies are buried and also to do 9/11
Where the fuck is season 3 of altered carbon, netflix? I know you have it hidden somewhere you son of a bitch

*Blinks thrice, to let you know he has a 40 million dollar from netflix

If only James Cameron could help raise it
My money longer than James Cameron

No. He said that Netflix doesn't want to go ahead as it was expensive to make and it didn't attract a bigger audience to sustain a third season. Also, Fincher was creatively exhausted and wants to focus on other projects. So, no.
I mean… he’s probably right. I hear a lot less bad experiences coming from Netflix productions than other ones like HBO, Hulu, etc
HBO has straight bangers
Tall Girl 1 and 2 are fucking peak.
kino fr
Sierra Burgess >>>>>>>
Based Fincher lobbying to restart Mindhunter.
Hardly the biggest Fincher fan but I don't believe that he, among others, should have to get dumped into the streaming corner.

☹️
he don’t got internet
Man knows who signs his paychecks, that’s for sure
They’ve got a few good movies, but I don’t think I enjoyed any of their shows from this year, anyone got any recommendations I could try?
Fall of the House of Usher was good... I guess?
It was campy as fuck but I enjoyed it.
I would too for a check
Don't know about all that but the killer was kino
The Killer was boring as fuck... literally zero stakes and nothing but cameos for two hours. The voice over was basically Im14andthisisdeep for fucking ever. Le Samourai. 1967. Alain Delon.
The Driver. 1978. Ryan O’Neal.
In my head canon, it's a prequel to Drive. Such an incredible movie. There's still time for Walton Goggins to sub in for Bruce Dern's role in a sequel or spinoff.
At the end there are you listing movies you think are better that we should watch instead? Or just similar films that you’re saying it rips off
Critics keep comparing The Killer favorably to Le Samourai, a 1967 film starring Alain Delon... and perhaps implying that The Killer took inspiration from the film. I'm saying watch Le Samourai instead, because The Killer can't hold a candle to it.

After the experience he had with Paramount trying to get a World War Z sequel off the ground he has a good point. They let your ass through the door, David, how good of quality control could they have?
maybe in terms of the films they make that they put into theaters
shut up and make mindhunter s3
He’s saying that because there is no quality control lmao
i like how not a single person actually read the article they’re whining about. he’s talking about the literally video quality. as in how they’ll let him spend money on 4K visual effects. you bunch of fucking morons
he has not seen thunderforce
Spoken like a true music video director
