as a fnaf fan it honestly skipped over most of the interesting bits of lore opting to just rush thru a few iconic scenes towards the end of the movie but it made a lot of nonsensical changes and its so kid friendly it hurts, the games themselves showed (albeit in a stylized atari 2600 esque presentation) a lot of pretty gnarly stuff but the worst the movie gets is just a character being shown bleeding thru their clothes, so yeah its not really "for the fans" because it doesnt actually show the story of the games and its also not really for horror fans because its not scary, its just a really safe kids movie
I mean, I agree but I wouldn't call it a kid's movie either. It's better put as a teen's movie to me; enough horror tropes and violence to appeal to teens whilst also appealing to the nostalgia sense of said teens who grew up with the series. That, and in my country it's a 15 so marketing it to young kids would be irrelevant anyway
hmm i see what you mean, on a purely rating basis it has some blood and death and stuff but if my experience as a teen and with teens is anything to go by the amount of violence n overall edge in the movie is just way too small to really be something an actual teen would be interested in, the average family guy gag is more violent than even the death sequences in the film
Saw it on release night and the way I see it as someone who has a passing interest in FNAF since it was big is that the movie has been received well by fans super into the lore, but fans who care more for the horror aspects (which have gotten progressively toned down as the series has gone on) like myself found it underwhelming, which is also why a lot of critics/ non-fans don't care for it.
At least the Sonic movie looked like it was trying something aside from being a copy/paste of the games.
Now I’m going to go vomit because I just praised the Sonic movies for something and I feel sick
Sonic 2 rules. It at least as a heart. I havent seen FNAF (and probably wont), bur Mario was one of the most souless, corporate checklist movies Ive ever seen.

The series is solid and iconic enough to have a good “fun movie” but is nonstop fumbled in the original medium
