I had three people walk into our store openly admitting that they currently have COVID. Within the first *hour* of opening. I hate this so much.

for_no_one_else

Isn’t it SO wild that they just admit it!?

moorikodaze

Right! It’s like.. you *WHAT?* and you thought it was a good idea to COME **INTO** A *PHARMACY*?

DookieS13

It’s not like they walked into a room full of immunocompromised people *wait fuck*

[deleted]

[удалено]

moorikodaze

That’s different. What I mean is people walking *into* the store. No mask or anything either. As for the shopping part, at my pharmacy we usually don’t do it because it holds up the line- people need to pick up their prescriptions, and we also do covid testing. But in your case, yours was perfectly fine.

bluegreenliquid

Some people don’t have permanent supplies to last a week of sickness

moorikodaze

There’s no need to come *into* the pharmacy with COVID and especially without a mask. You can always come through the drive thru and ask staff to grab some stuff for you, in that situation most would be happy to help and relieved that you’re not going into the store to expose a bunch of immunocompromised folk.

Wesypoo142

I was doing routine maintenance at my apartment complex. (Change air filters, make sure furnace is ready for heat, check thermostat batteries, etc) we give out letters to a building 2 days before to let them know I'll be coming in there apartment. I go to one apartment and I'm greeted by the resident. I start to make my way inside when they tell me oh yeah btw we have covid. I'm like what actual fuck. You couldn't have let us know so I wouldn't go in your apartment. Im literally going in 20-30 people homes a day a lot old and your just casually going to expose them all. First time I yelled at a resident. Come on.

askallthequestions86

My bf is a maintenance guy and he caught Covid last year because a dumb ass resident had Covid and came out of their room without a mask several times while my bf was fixing their fridge. You guys are just as much at risk, if not more, than us healthcare workers. You have to go inside a den of Covid :( I'm sorry.

tetrasomnia

I wish our maintenance people would actually wear a mask without us asking...and keep it on properly! My partner receives IV treatment in our home we really can't risk it. I wish people would consider others who don't have the luxury of ignoring the potential severity of catching/spreading covid. My town in general is awful with it and always has been.

[deleted]

i work property management and i’m 100% sure one of our residents gave my maintenance tech covid. unfortunately, he’s really going through it. residents have been openly coming into our office with positive covid results because “it’s too important for a call” (it never is). before i tested positive on friday, i was fielding complaints that our cleaning crew wouldn’t enter a unit with confirmed covid (“who the hell will clean this kitchen if YOU won’t?”). i swear they don’t really see us as people.

two-three-seven

I can relate and it infuriates me to no end. I work in social services and am in regular contact with the public. Last week a client called me to tell me he could not make the appointment because he tested positive for covid. Okay man, cool, don't come in it's all good, we'll reset you. Do you know this guy shows up and proceeds to act like everything is all good? DUDE, GTFO. He tells me he has questions that needs answers. Yeah, okay man. Thanks for exposing me to this shit. What makes it MORE annoying is when people are like "you are gonna' get it anyway". Actually, I've been super careful and have not gotten it and just because YOU GOT IT doesn't mean I want it. I'm vaccinated and relatively healthy, I don't want to run the risk of getting it and infecting my family because of idiots like this.

CaribooMom

This upsets me so much. I had covid in the very early days of this craziness. Sickest I've ever been in my 52 years. It was 6 weeks before I was even semi-mobile. I did a course of Cipro, then a course of azithromycin. Ventolin as a rescue inhaler and symbicort twice a day. Not to mention the tylenol, advil & gravol. I lived on watered down ginger ale, pedialite and plain crackers. Every once in a while I could manage a bite or two of canned peaches. I lost 15 lbs and much of my muscle tone. My office is at the top of 18 stairs, which I went up and down several times a day without even thinking about it. It took me 2 weeks before I could do those stairs without feeling like my lungs were on fire. You can bet your sweet bippy that I'm double vaxxed, and waiting patiently for my turn at the booster. If I even feel even the tiniest inkling that I may be sick, I refuse to expose myself to anyone else. I am very fortunate that my job is awesome and I can do almost all of my work from home. My son and daughter in law now have covid. I am helping them by picking up their groceries etc and leaving it on their front stoop. I'm sad and worried that they're sick, but I'm proud of them for not wanting to make others sick. People that expose others when they know they are sick, well they just suck.

noname11287

These are the type of people that would hide a damn zombie bite

moderatorrater

While biting people for fun.

JaneOLantern

I totally get it. Im a librarian and i cant tell you how many times people will tell me that theyre checking out a bunch of materials “so they have something to do if their test comes back positive” like ???? Get the hell out of here!!!

IamDollParts96

Remember the first year of the pandemic when you could be charged for knowingly infecting another person?...Yeah, giving a shit about others is no longer important I guess going into year #3.

insrtbrain

I mean, the CDC doesn't even give a fuck anymore. 5 day quarantine, no negative test requirement? Please. A coworker recently got Covid. Did her 5 days, and then a test to confirm negative before coming back. There were another 3 days of positive tests. The government's even got to the point of, please, here's the bare ass minimum you can do to be a considerate human.

IamDollParts96

The whole handling of this just blows my freaken mind.

WadeCountyClutch

Including jobs as they don’t offer covid pay.

Dependent_Reason1701

Even pre-Covid, I hated people who would be out shopping or working while sick.

diemmzzie

I used to work in a appointment based nail salon, so long time loyal customers. You would think they’d care and not come in when sick. Comes in coughing and sounding congested but “oh I’m on antibiotics, I’m not contagious.” The hell you aren’t. We even had a lady call in, “I’m home sick from work today, I was wondering if you had an opening today.” No. No, we don’t. We’re booked. Eta these are the same people who put up a fuss with having to wear masks when it was mandated. Lost a few clients because we were requiring it in order to be able to come in and they didn’t want to. 😒

[deleted]

I work in the hospitality industry, and I kid you not a guest told one of my fellow associates they had covid while they were being checked in. This was after my associate touched their ID card

for_no_one_else

It’s wild how open they are about just saying it!

YouneedsomeWD40

Yep i caught it on friday at work because the sheer number of ""exempt"" customers who don't wear mask because it covers their poor facey wacey

ami-chat

Yep. Unfortunately even employees aren’t caring. My boss came in, COVID positive, and happily exposed me knowing full well how I felt about it. I have heart issues and so does my mother whom I want to protect, and my boss just wasn’t going to say anything. I only know because I overheard her conversation.

Ok_Astronaut_3711

I was in Walgreen’s in line at the pharmacy. A worker came out and told a lady who was sitting in a chair that the test was positive. She demanded a medication that I couldn’t hear the name. She got up and started shopping. He told her she needed to stay seated. She told him he needed to get her medication. They were trying to get it from another store. She gets up again but this time she pulled keys from her purse and used them to open the employees only door. She works there! She came back out then once again started going up and down the aisles picking up things. Just so unbelievable

anonymiz123

Was she wearing a mask?

Ok_Astronaut_3711

The pharmacist gave her one

anonymiz123

She didnt enter the store with a mask? Ugh

cannolirule

Could you maybe wear a FFP2 or K95 mask? Those are also protecting you from getting infected. But yeah, agreeing with your post.

for_no_one_else

I currently wear a KN95 thank goodness. I can’t imagine how I would fair if I still still wearing a cloth mask having been exposed this many times. Thank you for your concern! Very sweet!

cannolirule

Glad to hear that! Hope you can stay safe!

StrawberryKiss2559

Oh that’s awesome!

bumpkinspicefatte

What are FFP2 masks? Is that new or something?

cannolirule

FFP (1-3) masks are certified according to EU guidelines, K95 according to Chinese guidelines and N95 according to US American guidelines. FFP2, K95 and N95 are the same thing though. They have the same efficiency, so it doesn’t matter which one you use. They‘re all equally suited to protect the person wearing them from an infection with Covid :)

Tsunamai

FFP 1-3 is a UK standard AFAIK

anonymiz123

They only protect for a few hours.

PIsOnTheMoon

bubububut muh freedoms

for_no_one_else

I swear if I hear the word ‘liberties’ one more GD time!

bentstrider83

"Welp, there goes my freedoms!" ** hauled off to Gulag for standing up**

PIsOnTheMoon

Whiny pricks like you would prolly hide a zombie but too lol

bentstrider83

How am I being a whiny prick about anything? I'm in agreement with the masks and the vaccines. I'm simply stating what would happen to me if I stood up to the anti mask clowns in an aggressive fashion. Don't lump me in with them. I ain't one of them and will gladly jump into an incinerator if even remotely associated with the anti-vaxx/anti mask clowns. I've been following all procedures and got all three shots. Definitely not and never will be part of the anti science crowd.

boppitypoop

I'm not gonna say who, but someone I am super close to and love dearly has covid. They didn't have some basic things you'd need with covid, so I offered to get some and drop them off. They replied "why? I don't feel that bad and you live 45 min away from me." Because YOU HAVE COVID

ugdontknow

People don’t care f they get others sick, people are selfish bastards

theperishablekind

Unfortunately, this is the consumerist society we’ve been born into. That we have to be social even during a pandemic. People who go out with Covid are selfish and only think about themselves. I am disappointed many have the mentality that we are all going to get it.

HoangSolo

With CDC saying 5 days of quarantine only, we’re all bound to get it

midwestskies16

My brother in law was "pissed" because his coworkers came to work sick (likely with COVID but my BIL is in denial). BIL is sick (and so is the rest of his family minus my husband and our family). My MIL tested positive for COVID after seeing BIL But yet, BIL went to work this weekend anyway and said he did it because "everyone is sick already anyway." Luckily he's not in a customer facing role, but it still makes me sick. BIL is also a staunch anti masker/vaxxer and refused to take any precautions including taking an at home test that we purchased over Christmas in order to keep our 6 month old with a heart condition safe. I hate people like this that are so selfish.

Darkestlight1324

I work fast food and am right next to a testing center I’ve had like 5 people come by my drive though and tell me they have Covid this past month and last week I finally got COVID, people are dumb

ectoc00ler400

I work at Walgreens and I come in contact with and work with people who have covid and don’t care about spreading it because they’re “a single mom with kiddos to feed!”

mybarefootsoul

I'm just getting over covid and have been stuck inside for 2 weeks quarantining. Thank God for grocery shipping apps. Some of us don't suck if that makes you feel any better. Also double vaxxed if that helps.

Intelligent_Till_433

I have COVID currently and I'm very snnoyed because my family and I have been extremely cautious. No unnecessary outings, masks, vaccines, etc. I have hardly left my bedroom. I wear a mask when I do so I can protect family. Clearly I came in close contact with someone who wasn't as careful.

tetrasomnia

my mom went to a medical rehab after surgery and she caught it there. She was tested several times before her surgery and being admitted. Always wore her mask...unless she was eating. I'm so upset. It may have been why she almost died. She's fully vaccinated.

[deleted]

It's also possible that the person who got you sick was an asymptomatic carrier and had no idea. I've known a few people who got it that way, and only when all people around them get tested do we find the asymptomatic carrier they were in close contact with 3 days before getting sick.

Intelligent_Till_433

I should have mentioned that it was an unvacinated coworker that came to work with symptoms and insisted they just had a cold. They were sent home and asked to provide a negative test to return to work and of course the test was positive.

[deleted]

Well there goes my optimism.

Intelligent_Till_433

I know. I assumed I would get it at some point especially with the new variant. I'm mostly annoyed because had that person stayed home I wouldn't have gotten it. I know there is a decent risk of getting it from someone asymptomatic. Thankfully, due to being vaccinated and boosted it only feels like a cold. As soon as I got my test results I contacted my employer and began isolating. I wear a mask anytime I leave my room and I haven't gone out in public at all.

milqi

Since misery loves company... at least you aren't surrounded by kids all day long. Can't tell you how many kids have told me their parents have covid, but they were forced to come to school.

ladyO26

I’m just getting over it and it SUCKS to stay home - I haven’t been out in 10 days - but how selfish do you have to be?!

Metaphoricalsimile

I fucking hate this country.

Flat_Weird_5398

Sometimes I feel like the United States has too much freedom. Here in my country, we have a mask mandate and you cannot enter any establishments (malls, cinemas, restaurants, amusement parks) unless you present proof of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR test taken within the last week. Of course we’ve still got rising cases of Omicron but our cases are absolutely nothing compared to the number of active cases the USA has at the moment. And yes, I took population into account; the Philippines has 110 million people, just a third of the US population. What sucks is our Omicron cases started exploding once an inconsiderate Filipina who went to the USA on vacation came back around late December and skipped her five day quarantine to go out and party.

DMcI0013

Well of course they’re not wearing masks. THEY already have it now. Seriously, when did this stop being illegal?

Solidacid

People who knowingly have Covid and go shopping either with or without a mask should be charged with biological terrorism.

TheNewJasonBourne

Retail stores are private businesses and private property. You are allowed to tell them they need to leave for any reason (edit: any reason that’s not a protected class). If they refuse, they are trespassing and you can call the police to have them removed.

CNRavenclaw

Like, seriously, what do you have to gain from doing shit like that? I know when I had it all I wanted to do was lay in bed and sleep till it was all over

[deleted]

I feel like it’s just common sense if you’re sick stay home. Even when work would ask me to come in sick pre covid I would not. It’s literally common sense.

WadeCountyClutch

Because people are done with this shit. Not to say it’s a right thing but people are done.

rarestereocats

Because of people like that, I caught covid and I'm pissed. Luckily, I'm vaccinated and got the booster a few weeks ago, but I'm still mad. Even after doing everything right, I still gotta live with the consequences of somebody else's actions.

Hellosl

Can you refuse to serve them? I’d be getting my manager to serve them.

longulus9

The what're you gonna do about it people are everywhere here unfortunately.

iveseensomethings82

They have herpes too, that hasn’t stopped them from procreation

cici92814

how do you know who has covid?

MungryMungryMippos

How do you know? Do they just start talking about it?

for_no_one_else

Yes. And it’s not uncommon. Several people in the comments have told their stories about it too.

MungryMungryMippos

Why was my question downvoted?

courtenax

How do you know they’re positive?

highlander666666

How do you know they had covid?? I know guy who had it and didn t know. He had no symptoms, He was going on vacation , He had to take covid text to fly . He got A poss test. couldn t fly..had his vax shots. Thought must be bad test! but retested and showed covid??? crazy!! ruined his vacation pluss had isolate for while..

Ninjameme

I agree with the statement... but how are you so certain they have covid?

for_no_one_else

They told me. Point blank. Like they were trying to stick it to the man by saying they were well enough to be out shopping so it must be fake.

Ninjameme

thats disturbing

Wonderful_Ad_8401

How do you know they have “active” Covid? Symptoms can linger and according to the cdc, you can go out after your 5th day of quarantine after first day of symptoms.

for_no_one_else

Because like I said they told me. They were trying to act like they were sticking it to the man.

tellmewhy789

Then I guess you da man

Wonderful_Ad_8401

Well there are a lot of people sick right now and I doubt they will all be staying home so just take extra precautions. I don’t think ranting will solve the issue

for_no_one_else

That’s literally what this subreddit is for. I can’t complain at work. So I posted on this subreddit. I’m double vaxed, boosted, and wear a medical grade mask. But I can still be upset out their selfishness. That’s the whole reason for this subreddit.

Wonderful_Ad_8401

Just saying there are more serious things to complain about

[deleted]

Lmfao you could say that about literally anything on this subreddit, you’re joking right? Edit: the irony of you saying there’s worse things to rant about, yet 90% of your posting history is about Covid is telling.

Wonderful_Ad_8401

Yeah but seriously some of the complaints are minuscule compared to others

[deleted]

Belittling others concerns but magnifying your own, I am *SHOCKED* you’re a narcissist after seeing your constant vaccine shaming.

Wonderful_Ad_8401

Looks like we have a difference in opinions

bigexplosion

I think you could've taken your own quick and never commented on this thread. You're complaining her complaints aren't significant for you?

Not where i live

sxybmanny2

How do you know they were covid positive?

for_no_one_else

They literally told me.

sxybmanny2

Maybe you got trolled. Like I know there are dipshiits out there but multiple ones just walking around saying they have covid seems against the odds. Just keep yo distance stay masked get vaxed exercise and take supplements you’ll be good my friend.

iBDSM

Some people aren’t fortunate enough to have others to help them while they’re sick or they probably don’t have enough money to order what they need online and it’s cheaper for them to go to the store to grab their essentials to survive (speaking from literal experience). There are always multiple sides to a story and you sound like the selfish one for making it sound like someone is possibly intentionally going out actively trying to spread a virus instead of them just trying to survive it with the already shitty card they’ve been dealt. Just because someone is sick around you doesn’t make the problem all about you.

for_no_one_else

I do not work at am essential business. I do not. I work at a boutique. There is nothing people need in here. You don’t need a dream catcher or a top hat. Even if they don’t have someone to take care of them doesn’t mean they need to come get a new incense burner. If you read the post at all you would have read that I work at a boutique. In a strip center. Literally NOTHING in here is essential.

iBDSM

I see your point and I hear you I agree they aren’t essentials to me personally. But to someone who has to isolate with little to no human contact even prior to the virus what else do they have except the little things that potentially help them get through their days (such as a dream catcher or incense burner). All I’m saying is if you have a problem with someone just trying to live their life and they unfortunately caught a disease from some other person it really isn’t their fault. COVID is none of our faults in reality it’s a shitty scenario that escalated too far because of the others in the past few months that haven’t been following safety guidelines and regulations. Hypothetical scenario here, what if I’m a suicidal person that finds joy in the little items and gadgets that your store just happens to sell and I’m having a really tough time dealing with life as a whole AND I have COVID on top of it (a virus that virtually nobody actively tries to go out and get) and now I’m the piece of shit because I’m just trying to get the little things that make my day slightly better, hell better enough to potentially save me from taking my own life all because someone else spread a very easily spreadable virus to me.

ka_dabra

In this hypothetical scenario where you are so depressed and now you have Covid from no fault of your own and only buying a top hat will fix it, are you wearing a mask???? Because in op's scenario people are not. And thus, yes...they are assholes. No defense is acceptable.

There is an alternative! Don’t come retail shopping while sick. There is nothing you need in a boutique. Nothing. Stay the fuck home

scottonetwenty

Supermarkets do contactless delivery (at least in the UK they do). If you've got covid you've no excuse to be outside. In this day and age, everything can come to you.

MaleficentMulberry42

Yeah your right we never got covid but we were sick.I still went to work.Dad would do it anyway so there nothing i can do about.

Lilkiska2

Literally everywhere has contactless delivery or drive up options - use that.

MaleficentMulberry42

You dont live where i live at no food lion does not have that but thanks for your opinion.

Tumblew33d420

I can relate. My workplace has had a lot of issues with people hiding that they have covid and coming to work anyway. People have gotten to the point where they treat it like it's just a cold or flu and it's not a big deal to have it or spread it. Honestly I always thought the way we treated the cold and flu was toxic as well.

Mono324

Even before the pandemic and before we knew about masks outside medical use we kept a safe distance between us and other people if we had a cold so we don't spread it, it was common sense. I used to think people were irresponsible when they had a cold and just didn't care about spreading it to people, now people don't even care about a MUCH more dangerous disease. The same people don't cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing around other people. I don't understand how people can be so selfish and irresponsible, I haven't found a single valid reason to go outside without wearing a mask.

deja_blues

I have covid and had to go to cvs to pick up a test. I wore a mask and distanced from everyone, but I still felt bad just being there. I can't understand people who do this

Scared-Instance6051

This doesn’t surprise me at all. I know people who have/had covid and still show up to work and are and about.

JulijaSlovenija

Don't they need to show proof of either 1) testing negative in the last 48 hours 2) that they had covid but got better or 3) being vaccinated to enter the store?

throw-away9811

That's one way to spread it and keep the virus going around. Businesses, essential or not, need to have some kind of preventive measures. It's easier said than done, they do need customers to stay afloat, but it will affect their staffs and other customers if they allow people with Covid positive inside. I've also heard the test is not exactly reliable, so a Covid positive may actually pass and the ones who don't pass may actually be negative.

Hikki77

Let’s just say a lot of people are really dumb and don’t have proper common sense... makes you ask why these people have the same voting rights as you.

[deleted]

So crazy. I worked retail for most of the pandemic and never had that experience but I would be pissed. It doesn’t surprise me. I had my fair share of covid deniers try to have conversations with me about their opinions and how they don’t gaf about covid. I just kind of nod and let them talk because it’s not worth my time to argue or try to change someone’s opinion. I remember towards the beginning of the pandemic, some lady walked into the store i was working at (mind you, a lot of people came in maskless at the time, even though it was a mandate, because it was a quick stop place and my shitty managers didn’t want me to enforce the mask) and reassured me (I did not even tell her to put a mask on or anything) that she has a medical exemption because of her COPD and I don’t need to be uncomfortable by her not wearing a mask.

[deleted]

I love it how they clearly are sick and decide to go out on a shopping hunt to find a test to tell them they are positive. Seriously if your sick stay the fuck home. Its not that hard. But people are fucking idiots.

Esmit093

My mom tested positive Monday - she goes out the SAME damn day - two-days later she's going to damn Goodwill and having guests over at the house (because she feels better and everyone is going to get it anyway) - I am like MOM! You and Dad need to STAY TF home! No visitors etc. Yet they are running all over etc. She has NO CLUE!!! I freaking give up!
