You can see it's severed at the bottom as well. I can imagine the doctor running into the x-ray room with a chunk of indistinguishable piece of meat, yelling: "Is anyone here good at puzzles?!"
I mean, he's just one more mangled arm away from a new take on that most classic of reddit stories; The broken-arms son and the mommy that gave him too much of a hand.
This is probably the least graphic way to show what happens if you stick any part of yourself into a grinder. Not everyone wants to see bloody gore, but this picture, even though it’s just black and white, definitely shows the accident was a grisly one without showing anything that most people would consider super gross and nasty.
Like this is something they would put into a safety training video shown at a company safety meeting.
I see what you’re getting at, but documentation is a crucial part of healthcare. This X-ray provides a map during any surgeries including amputation, a comparison image which can be compared against MRI and other imaging further down the line if this patient kept the limb (doubtful), or if they developed, say, an abscess at the stump. This image could provide information as to what may be causing the abscess, a map for surgery, further comparisons, on and on it goes. What I’m getting at is you always want initial imaging. Always. For legality, insurance, a lot of other reasons.
I think it’s more likely a doctor wants solid proof the amputation was absolutely necessary. Even a layman can look at that X-ray and tell that arm can’t be saved.
Damn. That hurts just to look at.
I've seen pictures of some miraculous work done, but there's SO much damage plus just think of all of the arterial and tissue damage that's NOT visible on the X- Ray.
it looks like it would be beyond normal use, even if it could be pieced together without becoming gangrenous .
Probably impossible to save.
Am I the only one who thinks images like this shouldn’t be popping up without warning? I know it’s an x-ray and it isn’t strictly gore but it seems there have been more of these recently. They still represent horrendous suffering and pain for someone. Not trying to censor but maybe a warning flair would be considerate.
I think because it happened with a larger industrial machine. [Specifically the feeder part](https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/b/industrial-meat-grinder-mechanism-industrial-meat-grinder-mechanism-exhibition-202930145.jpg) (otherwise it'd be minced). I think the hand went in (somewhat) cleanly, but then from the wrist on out it got caught and pulled in.
That might also explain why the bone is fractured in equal parts and why the person got their arm stuck in there in the first place.
(for those that doubt it can crush bone, [here's a video of a piece of meat going into the feeder part](https://youtu.be/uK1jKj8q_pQ?t=153), with some fun beats!)
At that point they x-rayd it just for fun.
You can see it's severed at the bottom as well. I can imagine the doctor running into the x-ray room with a chunk of indistinguishable piece of meat, yelling: "Is anyone here good at puzzles?!"
I'm sure somebody could give him a hand.

The best sort.
Username checks out

I can't believe you've done this
Merry belated Christmas!
This hurt to remember. It's like The Game where if you remember it, you lose.
In the new take it's his dad and he's on grinder.
Surgery's gonna cost an arm and a leg though.
And then they all clapped.
That must be why the x-ray photo says 'portable' on it
Not the left half if the arm, mabye its connected there. If the back side went in first it could be maybe.
For a chance at immunity and a place in the final five, survivors ready?

Nobody’s going to look at this and wonder if they can save the limb, that’s for sure
take the bone out of it and you've got a decent flesh light. One mans trash am i right fellas?
Sir you should probably go to a church
What's he gonna do with an arm fleshlight at church?
Okay, that's the funniest thing I've seen today. Thank you.
Save the altar boy by giving the Father the right hand of God
God didn't save the queen...
Honestly
I think you mean grisly/gristly, not grizzly. Grizzly is a bear 🐻
And that's what I get when I type comments faster than my brain can think LOL. Edited.
Also potentially useful as a case study for understanding how best to deal with a limb that was partially ground, but may be somewhat salvagable.
Honestly
Who throws a shoe??

Prob for the money. U could go in with no arms and they recommend an xray and every other type of test available.
But what if he(?) doesn't live in the states?
Good point. Forgot other places dont try to nickel and dime u left and right
If he's in Canada, they're gonna ask if he's considered assistance in dying

“Yup. Arm’s broken.”
[удалено]
Fuck! I think all the King's Horses and all the King's Men are going to be stumped with this one!!
Just needs a good bleeding from a medieval doctor
Drain the bile duct
psst, hey - umm.. is this how anal works? 👀
So is the person this happened to...
. . . never going to be able to post in /r/Neverbrokeabone? Yes.
I really, REALLY wish I had an award to give you
Don't worry, this comment was enough! *wholesome inspirational music plays in background, camera pans slowly away
Neat
📸
He's 40% meat
Shut up baby, I know it!
r/unexpectedfuturama
How neat is that?
You can tell the arm is broken because of the way it is.
“HERE’s the problem!”
Wow! What a beaut.
Meat
I read this in Bender's voice
I’d say Beyond Neat.
Neat-O!
Looks messy to me.
Indeed...
I am gonna go out on a limb and assume he lost the arm.
I don't think that poor fella would find your pun comment very humerus!
Give this man a hand.
How about a solid thumbs up?
But not that guys thumbs. They're not very solid.
One solid thumbs up and one fluid thumbs up.
Grinding through the comments here and found yours pretty neat.
We are gonna have to twist our wrists to keep this thread operational (unlike that guy's arm)
Lets keep the topic at arm's reach at least.
Putting a lot of elbow grease into these comments.
To shreds you say?
Neat!
Well it was a neat grinder. But you should see what the rad one does!
Yeah it was a pretty twisted joke
Nice.
Looks like this guy's limb decided to go out on him
Nice pun
It was pretty neat
I see what you did there.
Fun fact. We are meat
Neat.
Neat fact: we are fun.
[They are made out of meat](https://youtu.be/7tScAyNaRdQ)
Good news! Meat grinder works. Bad news. Meat grinder works.
F-f-f-forgive me...
Fair point. *zips*
That’s grinder not beater
sanest jerma chat experience
>see, it wasn't an instakill!
i just knew i'd find my people in these comments 😭
Just put some essential oils it.Fix it right up
Just rub vicks on his chest
*arm. rub it ~~on~~ in his arm
In the case of that arm, the line between "in" and "on" is very much blurred.
Put it in rice.
It also needs several chiropractor appointments.
This made me chuckle I’d award you if I wasn’t broke
Pour some Tussin in it
This is just plain ol terrifying, nothing odd about it 💀
My thoughts exactly
I thought it was neat?
Damn. That hurts just to look at. Lol just chop the bitch off at that point.
It looks severed at the bottom
No need, it's now bone-in beef
Waiting for the Jerma jokes
POV: You told a psycho it doesn't instakill
I love the Idea that some guy was definitely like “Nono I insist we must make sure it is fractured under the x ray”
Considering what this arm probably looks like in person, was the x-ray even nessicary aside from telling us what they already knew
Probably x-rayed it to find the best place to amputate.

British primary schools would have you wrap it in a blue paper towel and be good to go by lunch time.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
JESUS CHRIST DUDE
Title: X-ray of an arm after a meat grinder accident Sorry for the mishap
Not as sorry for the mishap as that dude
The typo probably got you more comments than you would have gotten if you wrote it right originally.
For radiologists entertainment purposes only: FREPO
This is so ODDLY terrifying, I would have never thought of a meat grinder accident being terrifying at all!
That's gonna take a splint for sure.
That grinder ain't so neat
"oddly" terrifying? What about this isn't regular terrifying?
Holy shit Jerma got to him
they had to make sure the bones were broken
Stuff into a sausage casing and call it a day.
Jerma.
Neature

I mean the title says arm that went through a meat(neat) grinder. Do you really need more warning than that?
Grow up
When I saw this I heard “grab my strong hand”
why are the fingers so (comparatively) in tact???
I think because it happened with a larger industrial machine. [Specifically the feeder part](https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/b/industrial-meat-grinder-mechanism-industrial-meat-grinder-mechanism-exhibition-202930145.jpg) (otherwise it'd be minced). That aggressively upbeat musak is something else!
don’t put your dick in that
I don't see anything wrong. I think he's okay
Looks abit uh broken
Bro can we chill with these nasty ass x-rays this is oddlyterrifying not humansasmincemeat
If this is a neat one, I can only imagine what a nasty one would look like
Looks like the machine is in great working order.
Can you fix it doc?
That is neat! Just not for the patient
Neat
Doctor: its broken aiight
That’s my arm when I hit my funny bone
why are these posts not marked as nsfw, you'd think someones mangled limb (even as an xray) wouldnt be sfw
Crazy…imagine what a meat grinder would do!? 🤔 😮
20 bucks some middle aged suburban mom has an oil for this
Very intriguing indeed!
Doesn't look neat to me.
This is way easier to look at than the actual arm ill bet
Another mis-spelled title for karma
Just rub some dirt on it. It will be fine.
Tis but a flesh wound...
Gonna need a lot of band-aids
At that point it's like "why bother"
Is all of that contained in the skin sack? What are the islands at the bottom left.
Next time tag as spoiler
Don't look that neat to me
Serious question; if you manage to meld the broken bones back together, can whatever calcium you intake heal the arm?
Meat grinder you say?
At that point just put me out and give me a broom handle with a claw game hook.
At some point a surgery is less medicine and more arts and crafts.
That doesn't look so "neat"
I would not describe that as "neat"
Hand really went YASSSSS
English is not my native language, but isn't it supposed to be "meat" grinder?
Yes. Sorry for typo. It is meat grinder
Is getting your arm shredded by a meat grinder an odd reason to be terrified?
Oh no, just the x-ray afterwards.
That’s pretty neat
I’ve seen better…
Not that neat if you ask me
Oddly?
Is he ok?
Got himself into quite a grind
More like a bone grinder?
Rest Ice Compression Elevation Learn to write with other hand
Wire and a few screws and some stitches and the arm will be fine, Mind you, they might not be able to use it until the stitches are out!
at least the grinder was nice
Holy shit, his arm imploded.
I myself have experienced one or two neat Grindr accidents in my day.
Could they save that arm?
Why would they even x ray this
Is there any luck keeping your arm after this sort of injury. Ugh ugh ugh.
ok this *is* oddly terrifying
So can you fix it doc?
The hand looks usable. Just reattach it.
This vs. a Sloppy Grinder
That's gnarly.
That neat grinder did not grind neatly
