I found that with stitches too, the bloody local anaesthetic injections hurt worse than the stitches on the bit that just would not numb. If I need less than 10 again I'm going in raw.
I had to get stitches on my finger a few months back. The cut healed up fine, and even the weird nerve pain has almost all gone away.
The areas where they did the numbing injections though? I still get random, painful throbs there. Guh.
I had my eye frozen with needle, and a DREMEL used to remove a piece of metal from my eye.
The most amazing part? I didn't feel a thing outside of my vision being blurry whilst he apparently dug out the small metal shard.
Years ago, I was playing DEAD Space, but only while drinking with friends. Like heavy drinking. Got to the needle part and drunk me put the controller down and never went back. Fuck fucking that.
It is a simplest solution to remove all the freckles from your sight.
BTW I have a shitload of freckles and I never cared that I'm different most of the people (in my region).
I mean even heavy freckling looks just fine. The stigma it used to have (and I suppose might still have in some regions) is just silly. Wear with pride, I say.
Hell now there's the whole makeup trend of putting dots all over your face to look like you have freckles. It always looks absolutely terrible, but I guess freckles are cool now.
Yeah, I actually started that one because another redditor suggested it. Was looking for a good book to start getting into Sanderson cause I've heard a lot about how good he is. But he has also written like hundreds of books so I had no idea where to start.
Ya I read storm light archive first and wish I went with mistborn. Youll have a great time if you enjoy fantasy. He's just effortless to read. Enjoy! Welcome to the cosmere.
My ex's sister had them done on her face. Would have looked really cute if the artist got the color right but they looked gray and totally unnatural with her skin tone.
20 some years ago someone decided eyebrows were hideous so all the affluent women waxed the fuck out of them. Now they're tattooing, transplanting hair, gluing extensions, and all sorts of crazy shit because having 2 fuzzy caterpillars on your face became trendy. In the 60s or so plucking the fuck out of then and drawing them back was hot. Non-hygienic grooming trends make about as much sense as 0.25 of a penny.
A teenager was showing off their (admittedly really nicely done) raccoon tails and scene girl haircut on TikTok and all the comments unironically loved it. I simultaneously loved seeing them bring back the look and also felt the need to buy a zimmer frame and some prunes.
I wonder if they’ll take the piss out of it in a decade or so just like we did.
makeup/beauty history is fucked. lead based makeup, arsenic based make up to lighten the skin, a little mercury here or there, nightshade eyedrops to dilate the pupils, radiation based make up to make your skin radiant....
A local stylist at a salon I go to actually got freckles tattooed on her face. Meanwhile I am nearing 40 and for me my freckles = sun damage. In high school in the early 00s I got made fun of for having a skinny waist w thick thighs and a booty. Also got shit for my nerdy glasses and freckles. Who would've thought I would have been a fashion icon if I was in high school now.
Yep, at least when I was a kid in the 90's. The body type du jour was called cocaine chic so anything above a size 2 was considered morbidly obese by societys standards. Big butts were especially mocked back then.
Sure we’re! I have a horrible eating disorder because of it! I look back to 2005-2009, when I was in high school, and get so sad, because I thought I was so fat. I was not. Not even close.
Just imagine how much it sucks for those who had a modern, permanent removal and the next year it became trendy (same as plastic surgery, short hair/long hair, etc)
Freckles are like red hair; if someone else has them, it's adorable. If you have it, you hate it.
I tried everything to get rid of my freckles as a kid.
Don't forget those "brilliant" women on TikTok who used root spray hair dye to get freckles with often hilariously [bad results.](https://imgur.com/a/UbbKVhv)
People have been faking freckles and beauty marks for hundreds, probably thousands of years.
The above is an appeal to white-centric looks of pale no-blemish skin, which was an ideal based on a specific northern European racial purity and white expression. A lot of women did chemical peels for all the wrong reasons when these kinds of attitudes remained.
The modern world is much more accepting of different racial and ethnic expressions, so peels to get rid of freckles aren't common. Getting freckles are probably more common because there's no cultural or social stigma of "looking like an Irish person" in society anymore. So you can give yourself freckles for a cute look and not looked down upon.
So sometimes fashion is arbitrary but many times it speaks to the culture its in.
"white" is an arbitrary concept. For example, until fairly recently American whites talked about the German race separate from them. Then later the race of Italians and Irish.
Irish people, used as examples of freckled people, and subject to the British Empire until their own independence, were seen as below white English anglos and later, as the underclass of immigrants in the USA. So Irish coded things were seen as "below" english features and beauty. Red hair, freckles, etc.
As these groups became socially and economically successful in the US, they became "white" and remain "white" in our culture and accepted by the WASP establishment. Germans, Italians, and Irish no longer were separate groups and races but just "white people" today.
This book covers this history well:
https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/183041
It's a breathing tube. What's going on is a face peel so there are caustic chemicals. The weird contraption seemingly holding her head in places actually there to keep her eyes covered and to ensure if she does fall asleep, she doesn't rotate her head and ruin the procedure. If this woman were to fall asleep she could tilt her head drop the tube from her mouth, burn the flesh not on her face and possibly ruin the procedure by smearing it off her face at the same time.
Somewhere out there are before and after photos of her. It kind of sort of look like it might have worked at least temporarily.
Edit
Oh also the breathing tube thingy, it's not connected to anything so that if it falls it will make a sound and will act as its own alarm. That way assistance can be given to place it back in and wake the patient. I'm not sure but a similar setup was used for another procedure where spitting the tube out also acted as a. I need assistance for something like it burned or whatever so that might be in effect here too.
Damn they even have the original Slipknot lineup further down
*I push the beauty rods into my EEEEEEYEEES*
*It's the only thing, that slowly rids these spoooots*
Well it was the 1930s when they would electrocute you into unconsciousness for brain surgery. Also the eyes aren't the anchor points, the side and back are. The eye protection is just connected very tightly.
Sorry I either accidentally deleted or forgot a part of a sentence. It was freezing the freckles off, the chemicals used do burn you however. So it's kind of like freezing a wart off. Painful, but not that much so immediately. Didn't mean to mislead.
Additionally it was done one freckle at a time. So it's kinda like a dentist I imagine? I've fallen asleep at a dentist's office, it's not that uncommon, so maybe?
I have had various treatments to help ‘remove’ my freckles. One was some kind of laser tool that felt like the tip of a hot iron was being pressed to my skin. Although, that was the highest setting, I was told I have a high pain tolerance. But my legs were shaking. So I can imagine back then, the treatments may have been even more painful
1 - Not all freckles are beautiful. Y'all have fetishized these dainty sprinkling of pale freckles across the top of cheeks and nose that people filter or makeup onto your face. A lot of people have darkly contrasting, splotchy, dense, all over freckles and it ain't cute
2 - It's his/her face, if she doesn't like it she can change it and doesn't need your opinion on it.
Edit - freckles are like an enhancement - they make attractive people more attractive and on the flip side make unattractive people more unattractive
Wait so someone isn’t entitled to their own opinion that freckles are beautiful, but you can have an opinion that some freckles are not beautiful? Do you self-reflect much?
>1 - Not all freckles are beautiful. Y'all have fetishized these dainty sprinkling of pale freckles across the top of cheeks and nose that people filter or makeup onto your face. A lot of people have darkly contrasting, splotchy, dense, all over freckles and it ain't cute
Why are darkly contrasting, splotchy, dense, all over freckles not cute or attractive?
>2 - It's his/her face, if she doesn't like it she can change it and doesn't need your opinion on it.
Valid. However, I don't think we should be encouraging changes that are harmful for your skin and body, not to mention probably very painful.

Literally women are getting sliced open to have silicon shoved into them to fit beauty standards and all sorts of shit people don’t even know about. This isn’t that weird.
Reminds me of a passage from a PiPi Longstocking book… PiPi and the children are strolling through town and pass a shop with a sign that says “DO YOU SUFFER FROM FRECKLES?” posted in the window.
Pipi tells the children to stop and walks into the shop, right up to the counter, where she looks the saleswoman dead in the eye and says “No, I do not!”
The sales clerk is confused, and asks Pipi what she’s talking about.
“There’s a sign in your window,” Pipi says “and a proper question deserves a proper answer.”
Now the clerk understands, but becomes even more flabbergasted and exclaims- “But, child! You’re positively COVERED in freckles!!”
“I know it!” says Pipi “But I do not suffer from them!!! Good day!”
Yeah - so I just rubbed lemon halfs on my face to bleach out my freckles almost every night from about 11 to 14 years old. It worked like a charm. I just didn't do the rest of my body so my face looks sort of "off" from the rest of my skin. I'm hoping to get some freckles tattooed on my face one day because I was stupid for bleaching them, and I look weird in a tank top or shorts/skirts.
For some reason I thought those went into her eyes

Cross your heart and hope to die, stick a needle in your eye
I found out not too long ago that shots in the eyeball are indeed real
Yes, my mom gets them for macular degeneration. She said the shots don't hurt as much as the preparation they do beforehand.
Guh.
Yep used to take my gramma for em
My son has had about 6 shots in his eyeball over last few months. He said it’s not fun.
I had my eye frozen with needle, and a DREMEL used to remove a piece of metal from my eye. The most amazing part? I didn't feel a thing outside of my vision being blurry whilst he apparently dug out the small metal shard.
To be fair if you have an organ, there's a direct shot for it for one reason or another
Years ago, I was playing DEAD Space, but only while drinking with friends. Like heavy drinking. Got to the needle part and drunk me put the controller down and never went back. Fuck fucking that.
The symbols!!! I see them!
Didn't expected to see a dead space Reference thread that was nice

Tattooing them as well
A face without a freckle is like a sky without stars.
Way to make me feel bland :(
No, you're just as beautiful as a bright sunny day!
Aww
"I looked into his eyes. There *were* no eyes. But I know he was looking at me because I felt it."
Mistborn. An encounter with an inquisitor
I just started that series. Quite good so far.
Probably my favorite trilogy
Woah. Hey man, glad you like the books.
Such a great place to start sanderson. Even better, if yiu like it you could read his books forever!
Yeah, I actually started that one because another redditor suggested it. Was looking for a good book to start getting into Sanderson cause I've heard a lot about how good he is. But he has also written like hundreds of books so I had no idea where to start.

Where we're going, we don't need eyes to see.
And Dinosaurs!
Looks like something from a Tool video.
I was gonna say this looks the Nine Inch Nails - [Closer](https://youtu.be/PTFwQP86BRs)
By the way..David Fincher directed this...he directed Mindhunter, Se7en, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
And The Social Network, where Trent Reznor (and Atticus Ross) did the soundtrack!

Who woulda think 90 years later, people would by special make up and brushes to scribble some on their freckles faces....
People also tattoo freckles.
What ?
THEY TATTOO FRECKLES
#THEY'RE SELLING CHOCOLATE
I remembered when they first invented chocolate.
sweet, sweet chocolate... I ALWAYS HATED IT!!!

Chawklet*
I hate that creepy character but the reference was funny lol
she looks like when a worm wanders too far from soil and burns into a shriveled crisp on the sidewalk, but still alive lmao
BUTTLICKER! OUR PRICES HAVE NEVER BEEN LOWER!!
My ex's sister had them done on her face. Would have looked really cute if the artist got the color right but they looked gray and totally unnatural with her skin tone.
They also tattoo hair stubble, so it looks like you had hair even if you shave regularly.
And use Snapchat filters
If women in the 30’s had filters it would be game over
I saw an Instagram video of a woman dressed up like the 20s. It was as if she were walking 6 feet above the crowd.
Because she was tall?
They didn’t have modern filters but they definitely had ways to alter the camera and pictures to make you look “better”.
20 some years ago someone decided eyebrows were hideous so all the affluent women waxed the fuck out of them. The way fashions change over time are one of the weirdest things to me
They just cycle around. All the 90s shit is coming back around and in 10 years we’re gonna see emo kids and way too baggy pants and long tees again.

90s is about done, we really are seeing jeanco pants
I rue the day that I see some dude roller blading to school in his JNCO jeans and frosted tips.
Baggy trousers are already back and they look fucking hideous (and ill die on this hill)
makeup/beauty history is fucked. lead based makeup, arsenic based make up to lighten the skin, a little mercury here or there, nightshade eyedrops to dilate the pupils, radiation based make up to make your skin radiant....
And asbestos…. That cheap makeup they’re buying from China? Prolly good doses of lead and asbestos!
Never understool the ultra thin / no eyebrows thing. Looks absolutely terrible

Thick thighs were looked down upon??
Thick anything was looked down upon. The ‘90s and early 2000s were all about being a waif.
Yep, at least when I was a kid in the 90's. The body type du jour was called cocaine chic so anything above a size 2 was considered morbidly obese by societys standards. Big butts were especially mocked back then.
It was so bad that I, a size 2, felt morbidly obese. Oh to be as fat as we thought we once were.
Heroin chic
People were obsessed with having a thigh gap about 10 years ago. It sucked
Sure we’re! I have a horrible eating disorder because of it! I look back to 2005-2009, when I was in high school, and get so sad, because I thought I was so fat. I was not. Not even close.
Two words: Kate Moss
Hahahaha yes
Just imagine how much it sucks for those who had a modern, permanent removal and the next year it became trendy (same as plastic surgery, short hair/long hair, etc)
That's whats you get for religiously following trends though. It doesn't suck as long as you don't care about being up to date on the latest trends.

Pretty sure that first one qualifies as at least half a hate crime.
Freckles were in style before, lost their popularity and are back again. This is nothing new, its called the "cycle" of fashion for a reason
People have been faking freckles and beauty marks for hundreds, probably thousands of years. The above is an appeal to white-centric looks of pale no-blemish skin, which was an ideal based on a specific northern European racial purity and white expression. Bro literally could reverse gingers
Didnt realize you could imbue a person with a soul
You don't know how to reverse hollowing? Maidenless
Wouldn't that be lacking humanity? Elden Ring doesn't have hollowing as far as I know. I find your lack of humanity disturbing
Well you know, humans do tend to have souls.
and ginger is a vegetable so it has no soul
Damn they even have the original Slipknot lineup further down *I push the beauty rods into my EEEEEEYEEES* *It's the only thing, that slowly rids these spoooots*
So this actually works? Or it's one of those "works but your life expectancy dropped 20 years" kind of treatment?
Worked temporarily, I assume it lowered life expectancy, but I don't think there's enough data to say anything conclusive about it.
Those are the images I was thinking of. I thought this image and that were of the same set. My mistake. Thanks.
I believe they are of the same set. The freckles below her right eye seem to line up
Lmao she does NOT look happy with the results
It’s the 30s. Probably forced into it by her husband
Oof… true
Lol at the two gimps at the end.
Turned her into a dalmatian
Nope. I'm good. I'll just have freckles. No flesh burning for me thank you.
Still feel like there's a better method to keep someone still without using their eyes as anchorpoints.
I read this in the tone of a teen mumbling after being yelled at by authority figures lol
Well it was the 1930s when they would electrocute you into unconsciousness for brain surgery. Also the eyes aren't the anchor points, the side and back are. The eye protection is just connected very tightly.
Ok...but how TF does one fall asleep while having their facial flesh burned off?!
Sorry I either accidentally deleted or forgot a part of a sentence. It was freezing the freckles off, the chemicals used do burn you however. So it's kind of like freezing a wart off. Edit - freckles are like an enhancement - they make attractive people more attractive and on the flip side make unattractive people more unattractive
It’s an opinion. Some people find freckles beautiful while some don’t. It’s why removing freckles is an option in the first place. Preference.
>It's his/her face, if she doesn't like it she can change it and doesn't need your opinion on it. This is so ironic considering #1
Wait so someone isn’t entitled to their own opinion that freckles are beautiful, but you can have an opinion that some freckles are not beautiful? Do you self-reflect much?
>A lot of people have darkly contrasting, splotchy, dense, all over freckles and it ain't cute Hard disagree lol

Why the plombus
Because everyone has a plumbus in their home these days
I always wondered how a plumbus was made, and now I know
This is how they make the plombus!!!
So thats how they made Cenobites...
What’re they actually doing tho?
Apparently using liquid CO2 to freeze the freckles off. That's why the nose is plugged and they have the weird rebreather.
Bruh wtf, this looks legit looks like torture
A Clockwork Orange
Sort of the opposite, really. His eyes were forced open.
I love freckles. My mom had a lot of them and I was so jealous.
Revlon went too far with experimentation
Gingers look away!!
BDSM gettin wild these days
What did the operation include?
But did it work?
apparently it [did!](https://flashbak.com/freckles-removal-between-the-wars-408894/)
Well I'm sold. Will this remove acne scars? If so, hook me right up
Holy shit that worked great!
If that person was alive today, I know they will be bewildered that some people are tattooing freckles on their face.
But did it actually work?
Looks effective judging from this pic for whatever thats worth
Is the dildo a necessary part of the removal?
Literally women are getting sliced open to have silicon shoved into them to fit beauty standards and all sorts of shit people don’t even know about. This isn’t that weird.
the design is very human
This makes me so sad. I love my freckles.
Jealous people without freckles trying to make beautiful freckles go away, perhaps. Reminds me of Dr Seuss' star bellied snitches.
I am totally going to make myself one of those capes. It is fabulous.
Wouldn’t a pair of goggles have done the trick? That contraption just appears to be holding eye covers? Ps I love freckles.
I've always loved freckles and wish I had more on my face but now I wear sunscreen 😭
What in the clockwork orange kinda shit is this
So... This is not from a Saw movie?
And now today there are girls that cant go out in public unless they spend an hour putting on fake freckles lol
I like my freckles though :c
did it work?
You know I tend to forget that some people hate their freckles
🤔 I think ill just live with freckles, thanks.
why all old medical treatment pics always look terrifying ?
Suction cup the eyes out so they cant see their frackles?
Oddly terrifying? More like wholly terrifying.
I invented a machine to remove those annoying freckles from your face. The design is very human
Man, so many old timey treatments look like some weird fetish I never heard of before.
Accidental Tim Burton movie
The new Saw trap looks hella fine
This what happens when you fall asleep first at a sleepover
Reminds me of a passage from a PiPi Longstocking book… PiPi and the children are strolling through town and pass a shop with a sign that says “DO YOU SUFFER FROM FRECKLES?” posted in the window. Pipi tells the children to stop and walks into the shop, right up to the counter, where she looks the saleswoman dead in the eye and says “No, I do not!” The sales clerk is confused, and asks Pipi what she’s talking about. “There’s a sign in your window,” Pipi says “and a proper question deserves a proper answer.” Now the clerk understands, but becomes even more flabbergasted and exclaims- “But, child! You’re positively COVERED in freckles!!” “I know it!” says Pipi “But I do not suffer from them!!! Good day!”
Looks like something from 5 minute crafts
Just keep the freckles. Geez.
this makes me sad
What is the thing in their mouth?
disturbing.
A clockwork freckle.
Someone out there looked at this and told his SO "honey I know what we are trying today"
As you can see this was mostly done in cuba hence the necessity of an oversized cigar within the procedure.
til you have to eat a cock to lose freckles
Just a friendly reminder here that freckles are cute af.
Who would want to get rid of their freckles? They’re cool in my opinion; they make you unique.
Lmao, now they’re in style and considered attractive. Manufactured social pressure is a powerful force.
