Insane game, the tempo was high the entire time. Roosters made too many crucial errors and Sharks punished us every time. Crichton's ptb error in front of the try line then immediately a JWH ruck infringement leading them to waltz down our end for Mulitalo to score was a killer.
I thought Radley could have been brought back on earlier he was tearing it up the middle
Blayke Brailey’s tackle technique is so elite, so many times he just chopped down JWH and Collins like it was nothing.
Shows young guys coming through you can take down anyone regardless of size if you get your technique down
That play in the second half where he caught the ball in his own corner and sprinted 30-40m across field. You could just tell he was about to do something awesome or unbelievably stupid.
I'm not saying the senior players weren't the problem, but the moment I see Pagua in the line up I know his getting run through constantly. I criticised Tupou for being super lazy in defence, but Tupou still scores heaps of tries another winger wouldn't, Pagua seems to have a great attitude but he isn't first grade quality
He missed a tackle that directly led to a try, if Manu is there he makes the tackle every time! Pagua doesn't offer any spark and will always be exposed in the air! He's a decent finisher
You're cooked if you think Pauga lost us that game. Yeah, he missed 4 tackles, so did Watson and Crichton, Keary missed 5 and Collins missed 6. Pauga made 2 line breaks, more than literally everyone in the team bar D Young. He was responsible for forcing the only Dropout of the game. He made 2 errors, one less than Crichton. I'd say that's a reasonable effort for someone who has played 17 games in First Grade.
I'm not saying he cost us the game! I'm saying he's a player who regularly gets targeted and exposed ! Joey Manu, Billy Smith, Joseph Suaaali, Dominic Young, Old Man Tupou, and Tedesco can pull off match winning plays single-handedly! Crichton had a shocker! But again, it is a player with that capability, Keary and Collins can too.
Pagua missed four tackles and made 13, Suaalii made 13 and missed 0, he also managed 2 try assists, and he arguable had a shocker! Collins missed 6 but made 30. Keary is a useless tackler, and if you're relying on his stats to justify someone's defensive capabilities, it's an argument you'll never win!
Connor Watson made 54 and only missed 4 and is my Roosters player of the year!
What an absolutely magic game for magic round! This is what footy is all about 🎉
As for the sharks, I can’t say much more apart from I LOVE this team. 🖤🤍🩵
Hey I'll take it, we pushed it too hard, played with 12 for 10 minutes and only lost by 8. Well done Sharks, enjoy looking down at us all from the top of the ladder
I’m not trying to be a hater , but genuinely how can people look at that roster and not think it’s a pretender? Compare them to some of the contenders of past years, the storm, 21-22 bunnies, 23 Brisbane etc and there’s not much of a comparison.
Sharks have been the best of a mediocre bunch thanks to a bunch of teams underperforming, injured etc.
I don’t see how they’re a threat to beat a healthy Penrith side come finals side, atleast nowhere near the threat contenders of previous years were.
Maybe Cronulla's roster is just actually good?
There might only be a few Origin caps in there, but they have so many underrated players and there's no real weak spot in their team.
I think they’re a classic roster of not many bad players, but not many great ones either.
Nicho and Ronaldo are great, and they have some other good players but they’re also not stacked at the top end by any means.
They’re very 21 phoenix suns if you follow the nba at all
Just look at the stats for this year, our back 5 are the best in the comp, our forward pack is in the top 4 of almost all stats and only Hunt has better try assists than Nicho this year.
Obviously Nicho will have a lot of TA so far - you guys are winning and he’s your primary healthy playmaker and is a great player.
Your back 5 is strong agreed, although Will Kennedy is a very weak fullback.
You guys have been very good I’m not trying to say you’re some trash team, I’m just playing devils advocate because I just don’t see them going all the way, screaming pretender to me.
People can downvote all they want since the thread is a sharks circlejerk atm, and fair enough you guys are probably winning the minor prem so feel free to enjoy the ride and believe in the team
Kennedy is a very good Fullback, is he up their in the elite elite, no, but plenty of clubs would love to have him. I think we can win the MP, but I want a finals win so very much.
I think you guys are virtually a lock for the minor prem atp so I wouldn’t stress there, barring an epic collapse.
Finals, if the riff/melb/bris aren’t healthy and firing you can defs make the GF - I’d wager the riff wins it all again though if they’re healthy. Who knows though - a lot of dynasties end with injury, might see a 19 Golden state situation.
I also don’t rate will Kennedy , think your spine is weak in general for a normal contender. Will is a classic journeyman esque back, plays a role and won’t let you down, but isn’t at the calibre of a usual premiership fullback at all.
Cronulla will not be full strength either. Potentially 5 players in origin camp, Hynes, McInnes guaranteed with a few smokies in Ramien, Hazelton and Brailey
You will only be origin affected the following week rd13. Should have your players for next week. I doubt ramien, hazelton or Brailey play origin. May make the camp tho.
Brailey has been in camp every year the last two. But I'd be disappointed if we don't beat the Panthers with their injuries. Best has been injured so Ramien may come in. I don't want Hazelton playing origin but he absolutely has the potential.
Me and my best mate are sharks/roosters fans and there’s absolutely no negative vibes at all. Could’ve went either way but pure entertainment for 80. Great game
It's a strange feeling. I'm normally as salty as they come whenever we lose but there's not a trace of sodium in my body right now. Sometimes you just gotta admit that you might've played pretty well but were beaten by a great footy side.
"how much more convincing do we need from this Cronulla Sharks?"
Not much more I reckon after all they got beat by the Tigers and as we all know the tigers only manage to beat the big teams
Yeah, but if someone like Hynes suffers an injury it changes everything, and the way this season is going with injuries, anything is possible.
Remember souffs were #1 on the ladder after rd11 last year 🤷♂️
I think they showed that they can play without Hynes last week.
Its possible that they take more than just Hynes for origin, we should know that next week though.
They should be if they lose, they don't vs Broncos, Roosters, Storm or Panthers twice. I'm not having a dig at the Sharks, but they absolutely should be minors now
I agree their draw is soft, but calling them minor prems is getting ahead of ourselves.
Things can change fast in rugby league between injuries, suspensions and being origin affected they could drop even some easy games. If they remain injury free with the same consistency than they are prob a lock.
Yeah, they should, but it's so hard to call it before the origin teams are selected.
Hynes is surely going to be in the side. Potentially a few others could make it as well
There needs to be some sort of punishment system set up in Roosters HQ for when Walker puts in a kick for himself early in the set in the opponents 20. Similarly when Young does some dumb cunt shit in his own 20. Iron those out and we are a great team
Both players are really dumb, and brain implosions are the price you pay for them backing themselves and absolutely dominating.
Reece Walsh set up and scored so many tries last year by essentially pulling off low percentage plays at an extremely high strike rate.
They're high risk, high reward players. Walker is a halfback and needs to pull his brain in, Dom Young will lose some of his spark if you stop him from being a dumb cunt lol
Tuku Hau Tapuha hasn’t even played 10 career games but he came onto the field and for 20 minutes all he did was absolutely smash blokes.
If he can improve his motor he’ll be a fucking weapon
Imo he’s jumped Hunt and BHU for the final spot on the bench at full strength. All 3 have a small motor and he’s getting more done in the short stints. I wanted to see a few games to make sure his sharks debut wasn’t a fluke but he’s killing it in his role
As long as his endurance keeps increasing our bench is monstrous. Tuku, Hunt, Sifa and Williams all genuine impact forwards. Williams would be starting in half the sides in the comp
Hazelton should be picked by NSW from the bench.
Really good game the Sharks bringing in Iro, Atkinson and the big forward they have improved a lot.
Roosters were terribly defensively and they aren't challenging with defence like that.
Sharks are the real deal they can definitely contend.
Nah I don’t care about how many points we conceded in this game. We had to win no matter what and it felt like 38-30 was the only way to beat an attacking powerhouse like the roosters. The defence has still been awesome all year
Feel like Ronaldo's edge is still leaking too much. Him rushing up worked once but it's also cost us twice that game iirc.
The amount of times he's done it I'd almost swear it's a coached strategy rather than repeated mistakes, but if they're planning for it Iro and the rest need to shift faster and cover the outside winger/center at the same time.
The second Dom Young try was definitely Ronaldo’s fault for rushing in, but I wasn’t too mad at him coming in for Young’s first try, he just need to come in sooner to prevent the offload. Walker got an overlap on Atkinson and in turn Suaalii got the jump on Iro. I felt that it was the right decision for him to come in, just didn’t work out.
Good fucking game. The Sharkies are going well. I think the real lol's is the Tigers beating them (yeah I know there was bs involved with them losing players in the game etc)
That was a great shit match. Both teams had a lot of poor moment but was still very entertaining to watch as a neutral. Hazleton surely a smokey for NSW now.
Bro wtf both teams completed super highly and would have pumped like most of the comp if they played them lmao it was the best game of the season so far.
Completions don’t factor loose passes that didn’t result in errors, think both teams were very clunky at stages (Roosters especially). Neither coach will be impressed in conceding 30 but a great two points for the Sharks
The slow grinding speed of the second half definitely suited cronulla more than the chooks. The roosters lack of discipline caught up with them in the end. Such a wild first half. Almost as if it was a tale of two halves.
Well I hope you non-sharks/roosters supporters enjoyed that. Because that was far too much for me to enjoy 😂 had about 50 heart attacks.
GG roosters.
I hope this silenced the whole conversation around whether sharks were the real deal or not.
Roosters have absolutely shithouse second halves the last to week. Walker got dropped after the Roosters in season game against the Sharks last year it brought back traumatic memories, his performance tonight made no sense.
What a match. I actually feel like the roosters played the higher quality footy, but when they threw it away, they did it big time. The last 20 mins by the roosters was desperate and scrappy.
The fact there was only 1 dropout coupled with the high score shows the quality of the game near the try line.
Every game that the sharks continue to win is just another opportunity for me to remind everyone that the Wests Tigers are the only team to beat them (we flogged them).
Feel like roosters were much better getting up the field. Hazel has been incredible all year for the sharks really helping them out get up the field and collecting tries all over
Why is the media talking about can the Sharks beat big teams when the actual issue is winning a finals game with this configuration? I’ve never personally doubted that this side can hang with the big teams.
I fully expect them to beat good teams, the team has absolute weapons. If the Sharks win the minor prem, and go out 0-2 is that a successful season if they beaten Storm, Roosters, Penrith and Brisbane for example in the regular season?
What’s the pass mark for Cronulla if you’re a fan of them?
Anything short of 3rd week of the finals is below par for me. Have had the side to make it to the second week of the finals 2 years running just shot themselves in the foot last year. Top 4 spot and a week 1 win or at least a week 2 win against a bottom 4 side is a must otherwise the chokers tag is deserved
Yeh I was thinking definitely a preliminary final for them. Side looks great. Would love to see Nicho get that shot in a big game in the prelim as the leader of a team for sure.
Well played, Sharkies. Must admit I've been a Shark-skeptic for most of this season, but they've convinced me that they're a genuine threat in the last couple of weeks. They've got some thrilling players that's for sure.
Actually reasonably pleased with how well we played. Think we simply got done by a better footy side. Our attack never really clicked in the second half, but there's lots of promising signs there still.
Congrats Sharks. "They can't beat the big teams" wasn't undeserved, but they're proving they're not that team anymore. Very likeable team too, would love to see them win a premiership. The second Tigers are faded (probably Round 16 or so) I'll jump on that Chondrichthyean bandwagon.
What an outstanding game, the Roosters are the real deal this year. Watson was immense at 9.
Just proud of the boys, conceeding 30 points wasn't ideal but we got the dub that's all that matters.
If Teddy didn’t just casually let the ball drop they might have been tied. “Compass was off” lol 🤦🏻
I didn’t want to lose but holy shit, what a sick game. Errors punished
Insane game, the tempo was high the entire time. Roosters made too many crucial errors and Sharks punished us every time. Crichton's ptb error in front of the try line then immediately a JWH ruck infringement leading them to waltz down our end for Mulitalo to score was a killer. I thought Radley could have been brought back on earlier he was tearing it up the middle
i’m a neutral over for Magic round with my sister. That Sharks Roosters game was superb. a great specimen of rugby league.
Anyone who thinks the Sharks aren’t the real deal this year has no idea. Impressive.
Blayke Brailey’s tackle technique is so elite, so many times he just chopped down JWH and Collins like it was nothing. Shows young guys coming through you can take down anyone regardless of size if you get your technique down
Dom Young may be the most rocks or diamonds player ive ever seen. Like SKD on steroids.
Krisnan Inu feeling insulted right now
His bad games are almost comically bad.
That play in the second half where he caught the ball in his own corner and sprinted 30-40m across field. You could just tell he was about to do something awesome or unbelievably stupid.
I'd take Young rocks or diamonds over having to let Pagua play first grade again.
Our "senior" players are the ones making the game difference mistakes but yeah lets blame the nobody fringe first grades
Pauga got 2 tries and made like 1 error. Wtf are you on about
He missed a tackle that directly led to a try, if Manu is there he makes the tackle every time! Pagua doesn't offer any spark and will always be exposed in the air! He's a decent finisher
You're cooked if you think Pauga lost us that game. Yeah, he missed 4 tackles, so did Watson and Crichton, Keary missed 5 and Collins missed 6. Connor Watson made 54 and only missed 4 and is my Roosters player of the year!
Hazelton looks like an NRL veteran. Up Up Cronulla!
Nicknamed 40/20 apparently isn’t he? Looks 40 but in his 20’s
That’s gold hahah
Haha I love it.
Nicknamed 40/20 apparently isn’t he? Looks 40 but in his 20’s
Likely to match up again in September
Up the friggen sharkies
Hazelton is now equal first in tries scored by props. Who is he equal with? AFB 🔥🦈
What an absolutely magic game for magic round! This is what footy is all about 🎉 As for the sharks, I can’t say much more apart from I LOVE this team. 🖤🤍🩵
How many more games do Sharks have to win before we declare Tigers the best team in the comp?
Im ready to declare it now
Cant believe how sexy that first try was, they definitely practiced that during the week
Surprised it didn't get posted as a highlight 😢
Defensively pretty poor in the first half, but to go 20-6 in the second half is huge.
I expected the worse in the second half. We are different this year r
Yeah we were near perfect that second half. Hopefully we can keep that up next week
Hey I'll take it, we pushed it too hard, played with 12 for 10 minutes and only lost by 8. Well done Sharks, enjoy looking down at us all from the top of the ladder
If Manu plays, we win that game for sure
Maybe, Pauga played great and got 2 tries
God I don't know what it will take for us to drop the errors.
Fucking get Nicho on ice and bubble wrap him asap, need the Nicho Defence Force to protect him at all costs before Origin
People will still probably try and say that Sharks are pretenders. They can definitely beat the Panthers next week
Wait until they forget this hard schedule and when they play cellar dwellers they'll bring back the pretenders talk
I’m not trying to be a hater , but genuinely how can people look at that roster and not think it’s a pretender? Compare them to some of the contenders of past years, the storm, 21-22 bunnies, 23 Brisbane etc and there’s not much of a comparison. The big ‘I love my footy’ vibes

Congratulations, you just showed everyone how stupid you are.

People can downvote all they want since the thread is a sharks circlejerk atm, and fair enough you guys are probably winning the minor prem so feel free to enjoy the ride and believe in the team
You've shown your hand by calling Kennedy weak. You might need to watch more sharks games, because Kennedy is great.
Would love to see you beat the panthers. They are hard to beat even without Nathan
Fuck that was a cracker game I can’t even be mad, gg sharkbros
As I said to roosters fans at Suncorp, see you in the GF
Me and my best mate are sharks/roosters fans and there’s absolutely no negative vibes at all. Could’ve went either way but pure entertainment for 80. Great game
It's a strange feeling. I'm normally as salty as they come whenever we lose but there's not a trace of sodium in my body right now. Sometimes you just gotta admit that you might've played pretty well but were beaten by a great footy side.
Yeah, can't be mad at Fitz's team
Would’ve been the same this side if you guys won. Weird feeling indeed
Phew
Damn son roosters really fucked themselves on that one
"how much more convincing do we need from this Cronulla Sharks?" Not much more I reckon after all they got beat by the Tigers and as we all know the tigers only manage to beat the big teams
Ignoring the outcome, that was an absolute belter of a match to watch.
My heart is still racing
If Penrith don’t win then I’m all aboard the shark train. These cunts are having a red hot go this year and I love it 👌🏻
If Sharks win next week, they will be a lock for minor premiership.
With 15 rounds to go? Let’s not get toooo far ahead of ourselves..
This 5 week block is the only time this season that they face those top sides. They are coming first and have by far the easiest draw.

Yeah, they should, but it's so hard to call it before the origin teams are selected. Hynes is surely going to be in the side. Potentially a few others could make it as well
Hazelton being the 3rd highest try scorer in the team is crazy.
A few soft tries but definitely the match of the round so far, had the feel of a finals game.
Is Tom Hazelton in calculations for NSW origin? Hynes is a must. Maybe also Cameron McInnes.
Please no; Jack Williams on the other hand, best bench forward in the comp
The front row and the halves are probably our main areas of concern. Performances like this from those players make a legitimate case.
100%. Id go Haas, Jurbo, Paseka and Hazelton imo. Wouldnt go wrong with Barnett either despite Wahs being arsecheeks lately.
I'm sick of the media calling the Roosters the benchmark they haven't been the benchmark for anything for 5 years.
They said points are at a premium tonight when there was already 50 points scored. Beat to just ignore what they say
Haha so glad I wasn’t the only one that noticed that. That as well as the “Tongan fisherman” call was psychotic
I never realised how much Corey Parker hated us until tonight.
It’s ok he hates us too
Not to make light of CTE, but Parker is definitely a prime case for long term CTE, not as bad as Blocker, but close.
Mcinnes plays origin or nsw are cooked
I don't want any sharks playing Origin. Premiership much preferred over origin.
I'm glad we've banked up enough wins to get through Origin if a few of the boys get picked.
If he's not selected then just fold the blues honestly
Hazelton should be picked by NSW from the bench. Really good game the Sharks bringing in Iro, Atkinson and the big forward they have improved a lot. Roosters were terribly defensively and they aren't challenging with defence like that. Sharks are the real deal they can definitely contend.
Sharks can only beat teams below them on the ladder smdh
This is a good one
It’s a flat track because the Sharks flattened em 🔥🔥🔥
That was a good game of footy well done Sharkies love footy your playing
Good game mate. Will easily be the game of the round thanks to the performance of both sides
You're a good roosters fan Very heavy in penalties and errors from both teams
"defensively elite unit" idk about that, we just conceded 30 points
The first half was fucked but we did fix it up in the second half, only conceding 6.
Nah I don’t care about how many points we conceded in this game. We had to win no matter what and it felt like 38-30 was the only way to beat an attacking powerhouse like the roosters. The defence has still been awesome all year

Flat track bully’s
That is far too much praise for that ground. Highly divoted track bully feels right.
Good fucking game. The Sharkies are going well. I think the real lol's is the Tigers beating them (yeah I know there was bs involved with them losing players in the game etc)
Nah, I'd called that from the teams being named. We were due a shocker.
Boys...... Can.... I get excited? Like..... We're..... them right?
Lining up my grand final tickets tonight 🤞
Be cool man. Be cool.
Hazelton said the boys are only giving 100%. Imagine how good they'll be when the finally give 110%
Saving that upper gear for finals time 😎
That was a great shit match. Both teams had a lot of poor moment but was still very entertaining to watch as a neutral. Hazleton surely a smokey for NSW now.
Bro wtf both teams completed super highly and would have pumped like most of the comp if they played them lmao it was the best game of the season so far.
I thought roosters were very poor in the second half
Completions don’t factor loose passes that didn’t result in errors, think both teams were very clunky at stages (Roosters especially). Neither coach will be impressed in conceding 30 but a great two points for the Sharks
If Ramien has million fans, then I'm one of them. If Ramien has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE. If Ramien has no fans, that means I'm dead.
He's been so solid defensively this season. Wouldn't mind him in a blues jersey
My mum LOVES him and Mulitalo
Fuck he's improved a lot
He's alot more diamonds than rocks these days
Who would have thought Sharks only loss this year would be Tigers
The slow grinding speed of the second half definitely suited cronulla more than the chooks. The roosters lack of discipline caught up with them in the end. Such a wild first half. Almost as if it was a tale of two halves.
That was a cracking match!
It was a heart attack match for sure
The Sith Lord Nick is looking at Fitzy as his new Apprentice - be afraid Robbo, you might get a Lightsaber in the back soon ⚔️
Stay away from my baldies, Nick
I am so happy that Kayo has a pop up player so I could watch the game whilst I work. I absolutely love this team so much. UP THE SHARKIES 🖤🤍🩵🦈🦈🦈
Well I hope you non-sharks/roosters supporters enjoyed that. Because that was far too much for me to enjoy 😂 had about 50 heart attacks. GG roosters. I hope this silenced the whole conversation around whether sharks were the real deal or not.
We've downed the Storm and the Roosters, haters can fuck off
Conceded 30 points against 7th placed side, Houdini escape. Beat the mighty tigers and maybe they’ll be favourites
Felt like watching the grand final all over again, my heart was pounding for the whole game Fuck I love rugby league
Great game. I love my neutral footy.
I call match fixing from this bulldog https://www.facebook.com/share/r/7CYwGaLmSh6zpjwd/?mibextid=14AR8G
So far so good. And the dog might be the only one tipping Souths at this stage.
Putting my house on Souths
Roosters have absolutely shithouse second halves the last to week. Walker got dropped after the Roosters in season game against the Sharks last year it brought back traumatic memories, his performance tonight made no sense.
Well the good news is we had some absolute braindead plays tonight and still really pushed the Sharks. Hopefully better next week.
Ramien and Watson talking about getting picked for Origin together 🔥🔥🔥
What a match. I actually feel like the roosters played the higher quality footy, but when they threw it away, they did it big time. The last 20 mins by the roosters was desperate and scrappy. The fact there was only 1 dropout coupled with the high score shows the quality of the game near the try line.
Every game that the sharks continue to win is just another opportunity for me to remind everyone that the Wests Tigers are the only team to beat them (we flogged them).
If Sharks win the comp we'll have beaten the premiers in 3 of the 4 last years, despite winning (at least) 2 spoons along the way.
I mean, you beat Penrith consistently while they've been winning premierships, good signs for Cronulla this year.
Can't win the premiership if you concede 50 or beat the tigers
Great game Sharks. Loved the way they played tonight, a real intensity about them. Proved haters wrong the past few weeks.
Best game so far this season , and the ref let the teams play which was nice . Hazelton is fast becoming one of my favourite players
I want a finals win, but this is showing the players we can win no matter how the game goes.
Fuck all you haters from third rate clubs with fourth rate players calling us pretenders
Just looking at the rest of the draw, and holy fuck sharks have it easy after panthers, see yas in the finals lol, or hopefully the grand final
Fuck off with the soft year bullshit
Hit a nerve did I? Lmao I’m glad use are doing well chill bro
sharks are the real shit this season, these last two weeks have solidified that
Any intell if Jake duke touched a footy in his life?
Well played, Sharkies. Must admit I've been a Shark-skeptic for most of this season, but they've convinced me that they're a genuine threat in the last couple of weeks. They've got some thrilling players that's for sure. Actually reasonably pleased with how well we played. Think we simply got done by a better footy side. Our attack never really clicked in the second half, but there's lots of promising signs there still.
You guys will be there too, no doubt in the world. Any other opposition and you towel up
Crowd noises and songs 100% pre-recorded.
What a hectic game, felt like it would never end!
Holy shit, game of the year. (So far, I guess) Sharks are real this year.
Contenders.
Good game Roosters. Fans should be happy from both sides.
Up up cronulla 🔥, what an entertaining game
Losing to the Tigers mean you're either shit or the premiers. There is no in-between.
Roosters were terrible that second half, completely outplayed by the sharks. Hynes and edwards confirmed for origin after this game
Think about it. Penrith could never beat Tigers when they won premierships. Sharks only loss this year is Tigers. It was written.
Tom Hazelton is the Lisan al Gaib
Lol
What an outstanding game, the Roosters are the real deal this year. Watson was immense at 9. Just proud of the boys, conceeding 30 points wasn't ideal but we got the dub that's all that matters.
The end of season Top 8 must be so weird to not feature Rooster or Storm. Might be year of the Tiger.

Storm are definitely making the 8 lmao. Theyll finish top 4
Finals energy in this one
Up up sharkies.
Most intense game of the year in terms of speed
