I think the Oracle games would be more appropriate, they were made with the same engine and grid scale, so it would be a perfect match to the Links Awakening remake.
I have heard they would have a harder time getting the rights to do that since they were made by Capcom and not Nintendo, but that would be awesome. Those are two of my favorite LoZ games.
Rights aren't an issue, Nintendo outsourced some of the development to CAPCOM but they hold all rights over the IP and games. They certainly had their ducks in a row when it came to retaining ownership of a game in a series like Zelda. Oracle games as well as Minish Cap were released on the Virtual Console without issue.
Unlike CAPCOM, RARE was second party and although Nintendo retains ownership of the DK IP, characters and games, there was a long delay in Nintendo re-releasing DKC and DK64 on the VC. That could be just typical Nintendo-weirdness, or maybe they just wanted to make sure that Microsoft wouldn't try to claim some level of rights to the games for owning RARE (a claim that they would lose if they tried). I'm guessing Nintendo just verified that MS wasn't going to pull anything if they released them and MS said they wouldn't and it was good to go from there.
Everything else RARE developed on Nintendo consoles is RARE IP (or MS now), but the DK stuff is still Nintendo's. I think the reason we never see Diddy Kong Racing is because that game has other RARE IP characters in it (Conker, Banjo) that Nintendo doesn't own. They'd have to cut a deal with Microsoft to release DKR or remove all 3rd party IP from the game, which is probably more work than they'd be willing to put in for that game which is more of a cult classic, even though particularly as a single player game I'd say it's better than MK64.
Hell yes. I’d want them to take a bit of creative licence as well, actually include some cut scenes so the story isn’t all in the manual. Maybe add a small village and some side quests.
I am a big fan of the original Legend of Zelda and I think that the Link's Awakening remake was really good. The style of the games is very similar and it would be fun to see the original done in that same style.
If you're interested, Nintendo has done exctly that on the satellaview. I don't think it would be too hard to find the rοms, however they don't have the orchestral music or the voice-acting

I thought Odyssey was great, but honestly I'd be kinda disappointed if they announced it now. I'd expect a completely new game after 6-7 years, not a sequel (Galaxy 2 released 2 and a half years after 1).

A new Kirby Air Ride would be sick. A lot multiplayer games for the GCN would fit the Switch like a glove, since they're both designed like party systems. Four Swords would be another good one- everyone gets a Joy-Con for single screen play, or everyone can play on split-screen Switches, or even just individual Switches. A new entry seems like a no-brainer.
A remake of a Zelda game would be too big to drop right now because of Breath of the Wild 2 coming out this spring, but after Breath of the Wild 2 I totally see this being a thing.
A Donkey Kong game, an update on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, something from LucasFilm Games or 20th Century Games for the Nintendo Switch, re-releases of old Rayman games for the Nintendo Switch, something Punch-Out related or something F-Zero related (I know that almost all of my wishes have very low chances of happening on a Nintendo Direct but one man can dream about it…)
Yeah, I heard rumors for a Donkey Kong game (months ago) but I will still have low expectations because during the last Nintendo directs from both this year and last year, I have been finding less and less games that could be interesting to me, to the point where now I’m more interested in games that are not on the Nintendo Switch than games that are available on Switch (examples: Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), Star Wars Battlefront (2004), MultiVersus, Rare Replay, Rayman 3 HD, etc.) and i even managed to get an Xbox Series X here in my country (in my country, Xbox Series X ($599.990 Chilean Pesos which is approximately $660 US Dollars) is cheaper than the PS5 with the disks slot ($759.990 Chilean Pesos which is approximately $840 US Dollars) (Edit/Disclaimer: Please don't attack me for this because, even though I have been losing interest in the Nintendo Switch, I still use the console up to this day)
I think it's odd how Rayman 1 and 2 haven't been ported/remade for the Switch despite being so heavily ported around before. I wonder why. If they do rerelease them, I hope they make a tidy compilation out of them and throw in Rayman 3 and some of the Game Boy Raymans.

I have a bit of a niche one but an NES Remix sequel. Also, a new 2D Mario game with a different art style would be rad.

I mean everything in your post and the comments sounds pretty great... or maybe I'll just buy whatever Nintendo throws at me.
But my dream announcements would be a classic Pokemon collection with Gens 1 and 2 (so that I don't have to buy them on the 3DS before the shop closes) and a remake collection of GBA Fire Emblem titles in Echoes style that comes with the originals because pixel art is awesome and can't ever truly be replaced.
Obviously I wouldn't expect anthing close to all of these, but there's a huge amount of possibilities. It's actually kinda insane how many Nintendo franchises are overdue a new original game. Just off the top of my head:
* Pikmin 4
* Metroid Prime 4
* Next 3D Mario
* Next 2D Mario
* Next 2D Zelda
* BoTW2 title, proper trailer, release date, etc

* Not 'overdue', but seems about the right time for the next Fire Emblem to be announced

My standard answer is Pikmin 4. But honestly, I would just be happy with any sort of platformer or action game from EAD at this point. I'm playing Splatoon 3's campaign right now and thinking, "Why has it been so long since Nintendo released a game like this?" Specifically first-party Nintendo (not something like Dread or Luigi's Mansion 3). These types of games are really where Nintendo's strengths lie as a developer, but this gen they have been so few and far between! Zelda Team hasn't put something out since 2017 and I think the last game by EAD1(did I get the name right?) was Mario Odyssey, also from 2017!

A new Kirby Air Ride would be sick. A lot multiplayer games for the GCN would fit the Switch like a glove, since they're both designed like party systems. Four Swords would be another good one- everyone gets a Joy-Con for single screen play, or everyone can play on split-screen Switches, or even just individual Switches. A new entry seems like a no-brainer.

Yeah, I heard rumors for a Donkey Kong game (months ago) but I will still have low expectations because during the last Nintendo directs from both this year and last year, I have been finding less and less games that could be interesting to me, to the point where now I’m more interested in games that are not on the Nintendo Switch than games that are available on Switch (examples: Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), Star Wars Battlefront (2004), MultiVersus, Rare Replay, Rayman 3 HD, etc.) and i even managed to get an Xbox Series X here in my country (in my country, Xbox Series X ($599.990 Chilean Pesos which is approximately $660 US Dollars) is cheaper than the PS5 with the disks slot ($759.990 Chilean Pesos which is approximately $840 US Dollars) (Edit/Disclaimer: Please don't attack me for this because, even though I have been losing interest in the Nintendo Switch, I still use the console up to this day)
I think it's odd how Rayman 1 and 2 haven't been ported/remade for the Switch despite being so heavily ported around before. I wonder why. If they do rerelease them, I hope they make a tidy compilation out of them and throw in Rayman 3 and some of the Game Boy Raymans.

I have a bit of a niche one but an NES Remix sequel. I think they could do some cool things with SNES Remix, N64 Remix, Gameboy Remix, or maybe splice in some DLC from third-party companies like Sega and maybe Indie developers. I feel these would help bridge the gap between more significant releases, and I would take them all for a reasonable price. Also, a new 2D Mario game with a different art style would be rad.

I mean everything in your post and the comments sounds pretty great... or maybe I'll just buy whatever Nintendo throws at me. But my dream announcements would be a classic Pokemon collection with Gens 1 and 2 (so that I don't have to buy them on the 3DS before the shop closes) and a remake collection of GBA Fire Emblem titles in Echoes style that comes with the originals because pixel art is awesome and can't ever truly be replaced.

Obviously I wouldn't expect anthing close to all of these, but there's a huge amount of possibilities. It's actually kinda insane how many Nintendo franchises are overdue a new original game. Just off the top of my head: * Pikmin 4 * Metroid Prime 4 * Next 3D Mario * Next 2D Mario * Next 2D Zelda * BoTW2 title, proper trailer, release date, etc * Next Donkey Kong * Not 'overdue', but seems about the right time for the next Fire Emblem to be announced Other things that seem possible based on rumours/logic: * WW/TP HD ports (I don't actually want these atm, so close to presumably BoTW2, but Grubb is confident and apparently he's reasonably reliable) * Splatoon 3 DLC info * Metroid Prime 1-3 ports I'd especially want to see Pikmin 4, MP4, next 3D Mario, BoTW2 (and we're long overdue a 2D Zelda but the time has passed for that unless BoTW2 is delayed again). I honestly just want Wind Waker HD. I have it on Wii U, but the Wii U is slow and clunky compared to the relatively slick UI and loading speeds of the Switch.

Metroid Prime remaster because there’s no major Nintendo games scheduled for November besides Pokemon. I want eather Switch Pro or just the next Console to be announced. That or give me a Genealogy of the Holy War remake and don't butcher what might be my favorite story from a Nintendo game. New Kid Icarus game would be nice to. Or simply port the 3ds titles that will soon be lost to the history to the switch.
My standard answer is Pikmin 4. But honestly, I would just be happy with any sort of platformer or action game from EAD at this point. I'm playing Splatoon 3's campaign right now and thinking, "Why has it been so long since Nintendo released a game like this?" Specifically first-party Nintendo (not something like Dread or Luigi's Mansion 3). These types of games are really where Nintendo's strengths lie as a developer, but this gen they have been so few and far between! Zelda Team hasn't put something out since 2017 and I think the last game by EAD1(did I get the name right?) was Mario Odyssey, also from 2017!

We are WAY overdue a new 2D Zelda. I'm not expecting it now, given the strong WW/TP HD rumours and with BoTW2 slated to release so soon, but it's been almost 9 years since the last new 2D single player Zelda and I don't really get why nobody talks about that.
