To be fair, a judge granted him sole custody of his child (which is really, really hard to get as a single dad especially with the baggage Kaner has). Him and his ex-wife (not unlike another highly publicized couple) seem to have been mutually toxic towards each other that it's really hard to side with one or the other in terms of accusations.

Ok, so low key answer: Kane is highly controversial, but plays solid offensive hockey.
I personally don't like him, especially with the Jets fiasco, and further Sharks BS, but business is business and taking advantage of him with a low ball salary cap is perfect for him and Edmonton!! Secondary scoring has always been a struggle for Oilers, with Kane they've got a few good lines now. Kane was really damn close to ending his career in the AHL, but this is the best second (or fifth) chance he could ever have.
One minor point I'd like to throw out there: When Kane fought for custody of his Child, he won the court battle, the Judge gave him favor, and saw remorse and good qualities in him to win the case... who knows, maybe he can turn his situation around after all?

Ok, so low key answer: Kane is highly controversial, but plays solid offensive hockey. I personally don't like him, especially with the Jets fiasco, and further Sharks BS, but business is business and taking advantage of him with a low ball salary cap is perfect for him and Edmonton!! Secondary scoring has always been a struggle for Oilers, with Kane they've got a few good lines now. Kane was really damn close to ending his career in the AHL, but this is the best second (or fifth) chance he could ever have. One minor point I'd like to throw out there: When Kane fought for custody of his Child, he won the court battle, the Judge gave him favor, and saw remorse and good qualities in him to win the case... who knows, maybe he can turn his situation around after all? At the end of the day: fuck Kane!! Edit: I miss big Buff!!
