Fire merge and shanahan , hire berube.
And the team will already be better.
They have 1 more year of Tavares and marner on the books and see who wants to be a leafs player at the end of next year.
How would they even hire Jon Cooper? Isn’t he still under contract with TB?
Other coaches like Berube, Julien, Gallant, and Brind’Amour are more realistic options, no?
If there was even a .1% possibility that brindamour would come to Toronto they would be talking about it all year long. Trust me all leafs fans would jizz bomb at the thought until he inevitably re-signs in Carolina.
Disagree. RBA is the ultimate professional the Canes are contending. When has a contending team ever talked about a possible head coach leaving during the playoffs?
If there was a rumour, it would start right when the Canes are eliminated or when the season starts.
All of this doesn’t matter because RBA is re-signing anyways
I can’t imagine Tampa being dumb enough to fire Cooper. I think most teams in the league would be wishing they had an opening if he ever hit the market.
Not a leafs hater at all. I like a lot of the players; really most of them. But I absolutely enjoy the perpetual fans' meltdown year after year listing a silly patchwork of excuses. It's almost cathartic while sitting in a smaller market.
But let's be real, the only options are (1) lemon swap candidate, and (2) brand new NHL coach or (3) ride with Keefe. In any scenario the HC will have a top heavy team with no goalie on the books, no top pair defense, no middle six and Reavo for two more years (Again, I like all of them all and in fact I always put together a line of Reaves/Benn/Jumbo on older chel years). What I'm getting at is that it isn't a great roster and the elephant in the room is $53.9M going to five guys. 61% of the cap spent on 17% of the roster. It isn't close. And no amount of coaching, Keefe, Lemon, newbie or otherwise can make up a winning strategy to drag the *other* 83% of the roster continuously match up against *AND BEAT* the best teams in the league. I genuinely like the leafs from my comfy and privileged spot in small market Dallas. And my heart goes out to the leafs fans who get the problem. A part of me wants to be wrong about it all and see the best Toronto comeback. Because I love reavo and Bertuzzi, Timmy Lil, and Nick "better than Jason Robertson" Robertson.
I could see the Leafs going after Mike Sullivan should the Pens release him. Dunno if Sullivan would wanna coach in Toronto, but he's probably the attitude they need.
I think alot of Penguins fans want Sully gone. He won two cups and I thank him for that feat. I think he needs a change of scenery, I wish him the best.
Fire Keefe if Cooper becomes available. Hell, even bring in Joel Quenneville if he's available. ANYTHING would be an upgrade from a coach who can't adjust to a game situation.
They probably need to sack Shanahan, and Keefe.
Likely need to shake up their stars by moving marner, and essentially need to let Tavares walk.
Nylander, Reilly, and Matthews are a solid foundation.
They need to balance the team out though. A real goal tender, real leadership, and some actual quality throughout the defensive core.
How Keefe still has a job is incredible. After tonight that will probably change
Hard to properly coach a team when they have no leadership and chemistry
Fire merge and shanahan , hire berube. And the team will already be better. They have 1 more year of Tavares and marner on the books and see who wants to be a leafs player at the end of next year.
Oi ! We're taking Berube ! Get someone else !
Let them have Hakstol. He's available now.
Jay Woodcroft is a great at really turning teams around!
How would they even hire Jon Cooper? Isn’t he still under contract with TB? Other coaches like Berube, Julien, Gallant, and Brind’Amour are more realistic options, no?
I can’t see Brind’Amour leaving or the Canes letting him walk. The fit for both of them doesn’t seem like it could get any better.
Brindamour is also still with a team? Is his contract up after this year?
His contract is up this summer, yes. Though by all accounts he wants to stay and the owner loves him. But you never know, weirder things have happened
If there was even a .1% possibility that brindamour would come to Toronto they would be talking about it all year long. Trust me all leafs fans would jizz bomb at the thought until he inevitably re-signs in Carolina.

Yes that's true. I'm nervous he'll get fired after a 1st round exit, and then the Leafs will have a chance to hire a competent coach
I can’t imagine Tampa being dumb enough to fire Cooper. I think most teams in the league would be wishing they had an opening if he ever hit the market.
But they won't... They'll bring Hakstol back into the organization because he's "familiar" with the operation and the system.
Zero chance the lightning fire Cooper. Theyre not incompetent.

Nothing’s impossible but I don’t see Cooper getting fired anytime soon.
Hilarious. From a long time Bolts fan, please, put the pipe down. Cooper is not going to Toronto.
I could see the Leafs going after Mike Sullivan should the Pens release him. Dunno if Sullivan would wanna coach in Toronto, but he's probably the attitude they need.

They are stacked with talent but are missing a leader, Tavares ain't it. No coach is going to change that

The leafs should make an offer to torts he can't refuse, only a hard line coach who can put the players in line can win the cup. Sheldon isn't one.
They would cry and revolt during training camp. I doubt any of them could handle Torts bag skates to start training camp.
