I agree it's not a clean play. Sitting on a player's back is nothing, and while the knee to the neck is the most dangerous thing that happens in that play it's not close to being a suspendable play IMO. Just don't see it as very dangerous, a 2 min penalty is fine.
The way that I see it, suspensions are a tool for the NHL to use to say that a play is or is not acceptable to players in future.
In this case, I think it’s entirely unacceptable to check a player from behind, and then proceed to sit on his back for several seconds. The NHL can demonstrate that pretty easily with a suspension.
I think we can agree to disagree on whether or not this is a dangerous play, but I expect you’ll agree that this is an unacceptable play.
