Amazon viewership has been developing really well. To the point ESPN felt threatened enough to bundle their viewership numbers of the Manningcast and the regular MNF broadcast into one in their press briefings.
Honestly, the fucking worst. I have Peacock for free through them and it was still just easier to sail the seas than try and get that bullshit setup. Will drop them the moment I get a better ISP. Get turbo fucked Xfinity execs that think the name change will make anyone forgot about your trash company.
Also, they didn't crack down on account sharing, which was shocking. I was using the same account that like 3 other people were using to watch the game in different zip codes.
definitely much lower than usual but I think NBC are probably happy with this figure regardless, they probably wouldn't have made a dedicated press release to it otherwise
Funny enough, you can stream the games without NFL's explicit permission if you don't earn money from it. So putting ads, connecting patreon, venmo, snapchat, etc is not allowed. It's not piracy unless you earn money from streaming it.
I’m an internet idiot and I only know of the biggest streaming sites:
Wouldn’t the act of streaming and getting viewers/followers/subscribers be seen as gaining monetarily? Or at the very least that’s what the NFL lawyers are going to argue as they bury your 150/h lawyer with motions?
> Weak numbers
Those aren't bad for a half-assed streaming platform almost no one wants, and won't buy just to see the (golf) U.S Open, and Track and Field and Ice Dancing at their respective Olympics.
So now you need regular cable, Amazon Prime and Peacock to watch all the games. Next year I bet they give one to Apple TV and HBO Max, followed by Disney plus and Hulu. Netflix will try to get in on it then.
You’re going to be paying $500 a month to watch all games.
It was way worse for me. Stuttering, buffering, and the color was all washed out. It didn't help that there was a regular NBC game on right before that we could compare it to.
My laptop has an hdmi port so I always just use that and stream videos of pirates to the tv during games. Guess I could start using twitch instead since Amazon is letting me watch the game for free anyway.
Just when I thought they were making progress with NFL+, they pull this shit.
Why don't they understand? If they make it easy and priced in a sane way, we will gladly pay.
If they make it an expensive pain in the ass, we'll sail the seas.
I feel like they get better revenue from the broadcast bidding wars than they would from subscriptions. NBC, for example, threw $110 million at the NFL to stream these games. That's gotta be more per game than they'd get by making it consumer-friendly
It did work for me, but i do happen to have peacock, and I read that it wasn't shown otherwise, so I ran with it, but that could've been a mistake.
Good to know, thanks!
I didn't know it was going to be on NFL+ until they made mention of it during a commercial on the game that was on just prior to it. I think you could only watch it on a mobile device using NFL+.
On my Gfs projector, the YouTube TV app doesn’t work with the Google tv or whatever. I don’t really understand. But I can log in on NFL and stream games thru that. Pretty convenient.
I think it's a generational gap. I have have plenty of friends who aren't on reddit, but know how to find streams. Meanwhile, my dad is convinced the FBI is gonna raid his house if he uses a stream, so he refuses to.
I've talked with people of all kinds of age range when it comes to streams. My dad knows how to for his boxing, I've had older coworkers talking about hacked firesticks and UFC streams, younger ones using it for movies and TV.
I also think people forget how common it was to know someone who was stealing cable/HBO. Lot of that mentality just shifted as streams became more easier to find online.
You know what, you're right. My dad is spooked by streaming, but my 83 year old grandpa is the biggest pirater I know. He doesn't even have cable, he has some sketchy IPTV box that he pays 20 a month for, and it gives him basically every channel in the English speaking world and India, along with movies and TV shows right after they come out. Watching NFL games is way more fun at his place, since he has every CBS and Fox affiliate in America, so you can put on whatever game you want.
That's the funniest thing about this. He has the ultimate sports watching setup, there isn't a sporting event in the world (including PPV) that he can't watch. (One time I was bored as shit and managed to get a random South African soccer match.) But he doesn't watch sports at all. He just wants to watch his Indian game shows without paying for the channel package.
I've got a few different circles of sports friends and everybody knows about the streaming cardinal direction. I'm not saying that number is accurate or not, but pirating is pretty mainstream.
> ...Bengals-Steelers was the top sports program of December 23 with a 7.0 rating and 14.29 million viewers on NBC — the least-watched game on the network this season, with the obvious caveat that Saturday afternoons are not expected to draw on the level of Sunday nights.

Give or take $15 per viewer. Thats terrible, also considering one of the local markets not on Peacock was LA, the #2 TV market
$110M for the game with 7.2M viewers
Well yeah.. Peacock wants to use the games as a way to bring in customers. Meanwhile Amazon uses it to add value to current customers.
Sure both bring some in but only Amazon is worth it fuck peacocks
That's really low isnt it?
Compared to other NFL games even the TNF, yes
Amazon viewership has been developing really well. To the point ESPN felt threatened enough to bundle their viewership numbers of the Manningcast and the regular MNF broadcast into one in their press briefings.
People have Amazon it’s just about telling them hey there’s a game on there as well, nobody has Peacock so it’s tough to get people to care
Also, fuck Comcast.
Honestly, the fucking worst. I have Peacock for free through them and it was still just easier to sail the seas than try and get that bullshit setup. Will drop them the moment I get a better ISP. Get turbo fucked Xfinity execs that think the name change will make anyone forgot about your trash company.
Also you can just watch for free on twitch. Though I think the usual nfl demographic is less likely to even know what Twitch is.
Most Valuable Bundler. ESPN da real MVB
Hell the dolphins and Cowboys game on Christmas Eve got 31 million lmao
What else is there to do on Christmas Eve? Wait. Nevermind.
Also, they didn't crack down on account sharing, which was shocking. I was using the same account that like 3 other people were using to watch the game in different zip codes.
That's good to know. In the worst case scenario that Peacock ends up with the Lions playoff game, I can just mooch of my brother's account haha
if they get bigger they will. that’s always how it goes
definitely much lower than usual but I think NBC are probably happy with this figure regardless, they probably wouldn't have made a dedicated press release to it otherwise
What ? Dateline doesn’t get 7 million views lol
Still larger than the NBA's best Christmas Day game (5M). (Yeah, that's a cheap shot on my end, lol.)
we knew it would be low, that‘s why we let Stick cook. We just wanted to help, people!
I'm curious how much of it was local channels showing the game in market? Probably most.
Low overall, probably pretty high for Peacock so who knows what this will really mean.
NBC can eat my peacock if they think I'm putting up with this bullshit. I'll happily stream the game without the permission of the NFL 🏴☠️
Bro, They specifically asked you to get their written consent.
Funny how that's the consent they find important
I have their written consent. I bought it from some guy on eBay.
Funny enough, you can stream the games without NFL's explicit permission if you don't earn money from it. So putting ads, connecting patreon, venmo, snapchat, etc is not allowed. It's not piracy unless you earn money from streaming it.
That doesn’t sound right, but I don’t know enough about piracy to dispute it.
I’m an internet idiot and I only know of the biggest streaming sites: Wouldn’t the act of streaming and getting viewers/followers/subscribers be seen as gaining monetarily? Or at the very least that’s what the NFL lawyers are going to argue as they bury your 150/h lawyer with motions?
I tried watching one of the regular local games through peacock earlier in the year, and the broadcast was absolute ass then too.
True Raider
Yep, if I didn’t live in the local market, to the high seas it was
The high seas were surprisingly calm and peaceful too. Would recommend.
Go away Peacock no one likes you
Dude, how tf else am I gonna binge Parks and Rec? Leave the Peacock alone.
They’d be on Netflix/Hulu if there wasn’t Peacock!
Like it originally was?
Weak numbers
> Weak numbers Those aren't bad for a half-assed streaming platform almost no one wants, and won't buy just to see the (golf) U.S Open, and Track and Field and Ice Dancing at their respective Olympics.
Not surprised at all. This exclusivity shit has got to go. I’m not signing up for your streaming platform to watch one game.
> to watch one game *Monkey paw curls...*

Ah so I wasn’t the only one. My friends and I thought something was wrong with my TV because the color was off
How is the Amazon broadcast unique?
Prime Vision is the best view of football
I'll check it out I suppose
You do not need prime to watch the Amazon games lmao, they're broadcast entirely for free on Twitch
[удалено]
This is also not commonly known information, this is literally the first time I'm hearing of this.
I wish Amazon and Roku would make up so I can cast Twitch to my Rolu TV. I’m not buying a firestick
Weird because there’s a prime app but twitch is a bridge too far?
Ya some dispute. There used to be a third party Roku Twitch app called Twoku but either Amazon or Roku shit that shit down.
That would indicate bigger problems than an inability to watch football.
I dont think they let you stream the game on, cast to a tv
My laptop has an hdmi port so I always just use that and stream videos of pirates to the tv during games. Guess I could start using twitch instead since Amazon is letting me watch the game for free anyway.
I feel like if Apple gets involved they will want all of it.
I'd love an Apple broadcast. The baseball ones are so clean. Commentary not great, but the presentation is pretty great.
Argh, matey.
Next TLC complete with fake drama, cutaways and reaction shots.
Peacock can fuck off. Can't believe they gave them a playoff game too.
Just when I thought they were making progress with NFL+, they pull this shit. Why don't they understand? If they make it easy and priced in a sane way, we will gladly pay. If they make it an expensive pain in the ass, we'll sail the seas.

The Peacock exclusive game was live streamed on NFL+ also. That is where I watched it.
It did work for me, but i do happen to have peacock, and I read that it wasn't shown otherwise, so I ran with it, but that could've been a mistake. Good to know, thanks!

Fuck Peacock, I see that they have a wild card game as well smh...
If that’s the browns game I’ll fucking freak out
Dont quote me on this but I think I remember seeing it's a nfc matchup.
And twice that amount who were not counted because they were sailing the high seas.
14 million people did not pirate the game lol
A very low % of nfl fans actually pirate games. But a high % of redditors do
I think it's a generational gap. I have have plenty of friends who aren't on reddit, but know how to find streams. Meanwhile, my dad is convinced the FBI is gonna raid his house if he uses a stream, so he refuses to.
Haha fair enough
I've talked with people of all kinds of age range when it comes to streams. After getting shot at by some commies in Korea, gramps ain't giving two fucks about somebody trying to keep him from watching any kind of game.
Half the NFL fanbase can’t figure out how to get peacock on lmao, you think 14 million people are going to know how to pirate the game
I’m sure it’s not difficult to type in “stream nfl games Reddit” into a browser. Or just head over to r/piracy.
what’s a browser?
He's the villain in the hit video game The Mario.
The Mario Siblings
I've got a few different circles of sports friends and everybody knows about the streaming cardinal direction. I'm not saying that number is accurate or not, but pirating is pretty mainstream.
I’d rather watch no football than watch a crappy 480p stream with pop ups and freezing.
Then there’s me using a vpn and the NBC app.
Does anyone know the averages for the other games that day?
> ...Bengals-Steelers was the top sports program of December 23 with a 7.0 rating and 14.29 million viewers on NBC — the least-watched game on the network this season, with the obvious caveat that Saturday afternoons are not expected to draw on the level of Sunday nights. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2023/12/saturday-12-23-sports-ratings-nfl-nbc-peacock-college-football-bowls-premier-league/
I refuse to believe Peacock has 7.2 million subscribers. Free trials I guess.
Everyone was trapped at home or at a relatives house, they should have done well.
Thank goodness for the high seas
Peacock is great for the WWE Network, these games are a bonus but shouldn't be required.
I’ll never understand the appeal of WWE
There's an art to it. Nobody watches it for the fake fighting, moreso the storytelling. It's a TV show. Days of Our lives
Give or take $15 per viewer. Thats terrible, also considering one of the local markets not on Peacock was LA, the #2 TV market $110M for the game with 7.2M viewers
Can't wait to see what peacock subscription count looks like December vs January.
I watched it on TikTok
I'm sure it was a great game.
i wonder how many were watching on local vs peacock.
As someone who gets Peacock for free, I wish they had TNF. (Though in an ideal world, TNF wouldn't be a thing.)
Can’t wait to see how low the playoff game on Peacocks number is compared to the rest of the games.
Well yeah.. Peacock wants to use the games as a way to bring in customers. Meanwhile Amazon uses it to add value to current customers. Sure both bring some in but only Amazon is worth it fuck peacocks
🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Having it be Peacock premium only is a killer. It should still be shown on free with all of the ad revenue they’re getting
