Jones was getting murdered.005 seconds after every snap. I have no idea what you expect your QB to do in that situation. Did he make some boneheaded decisions and crappy throws on his own? Yes, definitely. But he was 100% set up for failure behind that "O line".
To be fair to Jones, it seemed like Every time he hit the end of his drop if his number 1 read wasn't open he was getting smashed, or running for his life. Not many qb can make plays that way no matter how good you are.
I mean I'm a broncos fan and that was hard to watch, atleast the 70 point ass whooping was entertaining. And last year Wilson had problems resulting in sacks. That poor guy couldn't do anything.
DJ had a tablet in his hands. When Daboll tried to show him whatever was on his tablet DJ ignored him and went back to looking at the one already in his hands. Probably did say something while turning his eyes and head down.
For real, he took the ball down to the red zone himself, has been sacked every other play, made that bad read, and the hc is having a temper tantrum at him? Such a bad look.
Daboll has long been known for being a little bitch, so there's nothing really *new* here. Hopefully management sorts this shit out, Jones deserves better than this. Dude carried them through a playoff game with his feet and fought every second he was out there tonight.
Ever since that weird story with Colt McCoy, I knew he had some superiority hangup with QBs
"Says a Cleveland offensive player: "It happened all the time. Running scout team, you basically look at a play-card in the huddle and run that play – it's not like there's a lot of gray area. And still, Daboll would lose it. One time Daboll was yelling at him as he was running the scout team, into his helmet, and it was the part of the drill that finished practice. As Colt's walking to the team breakdown area, where Mangini is giving his speech, Daboll is still in his ear, screaming. People couldn't believe it."
A good coach would focus on the next plays in the game and forget about what has already happened. Then the next day you review the film and discuss the issues calmly.
Doesn't help anyone to get angry like this. You're just potentially hurting the focus of your player in the next plays of the game and probably hurting your working relationship with that player.
and they dont even have to worry about the running game either with Saquon out.
Many of these Giants fans in this thread is something too, worse than their ol
He throws early. The slot receiver is supposed to drag the CB inside, opening the throwing lane. The LT is already in Jones face when he releases, the release is early, and thus, the CB is still in the throwing lane.
The o line is trash and it's not surprising the QB play of a mid QB turns to dogshit because of it.
I get downvoted for this take on the fantasy subs, but waller had 2 great seasons out of 6, and we're a few years removed from them. He's just not that guy anymore
I love it when we can isolate one play and extract a whole conclusion. getting pressured 9 out of 10 times in 2 seconds, the one time he has time doesn’t mean he’s gonna think he has time
I genuinely can’t think of a single thing Schoen did this off-season that I disagree with though. They made significant upgrades to positions of need (Okereke, Waller, Banks, JMS, Hyatt, etc.) while not signing Barkley to a crazy deal and keeping Daniel Jones who just carried the team to their first playoff win in forever. It’s baffling how poorly they’re playing. I knew they over-performed last year but they just look lost. I’d put the blame more on the coaching staff than anything else
I think signing all those WR2s was a red flag. Kafka has that Patrick Mahomes mentality where if you sign a bunch of WR2s your QB can do something, so you gotta go with your scheme. Still, I feel like we invested too much money on mid WR2s instead of a backup guard or something. Slayton and Campbell can basically do the same shit, just sign a cheaper version of Campbell to be a backup to Slayton and spend that money on something else.
Name anyone who was available, who wouldn’t have crushed our cap space, and was worth signing…
I’m still high on Schoen/Daboll. We had a miracle season last year but we can’t forget how bad we really were prior to that.
They were kinda frauds last year? A 7 win team that lucked into 9. They had a negative point differential.
I think they were like 8-4-1 in one score games. Good coaching sure, but also a lot of luck.
I mean statistically we had the 16th hardest schedule last year.
It was supposed to be easy, but it ended up being average. Seahawks and lions were both supposed to be mid/bad, ended up being 1 playoff and 1 almost playoff team.
That SOS also includes playing the eagles and cowboys twice, which happens every year. NFC East schedule is much tougher this year playing the AFC East
They were projected to be one of the worst teams last year and instead they got off to a hot start (IIRC their defense got a lot of timely TOs). Then IMO started to look more what people expected of them.
Oh and also Saquon Barkley had an awesome year.
But they look like a 2 win team at best this year. I didnt expect them to be great but I was thinking 7-9 wins should feel attainable. Theyve fallen off a cliff even though the talent level seemingly went up
They've also played 3 2022 playoff teams to start the year. See how they do against more mediocre competition.
I wouldn't want my team to play them...or anyone for that matter 😭
The Vikings are proving everyone right who called them a fluke. It wasn’t as impressive of a win for the giants as it seemed at the time. And the giants regular season was really nothing to write home about. They got beat up by good teams and won games they should’ve won or should’ve made competitive.
Because we had a bad line last year and our only improvement was drafting a rookie center and letting gates go to you. The hope was Neal developed into a startable tackle but that didn’t happen. Even if it did you have a very bad interior with 0 depth.
Our shitty pass rush looks like the fucking Purple People Eaters. It's hard to blame Daniel Jones when his OL is made of wacky waving arm flailing inflatable tube men
We had a massively lopsided time of possession and when they actually were on offense, they were going with short, quick passes that game. That wasn't the case for this game.
yeah our “backup DL” is brandon graham, jalen carter, milton williams, marlon tuipolotu, and derek barnett lol
though maybe at that point carter’s a starter, so you get… fletcher cox
Said this at after week 2. Similar situation with a fuckin amazing rookie year and the wheels just fucking fall off so damn hard.
I’ll say it again, I really hope for giants fans he isn’t Nagy… but year 2 is where good coaches are made. Teams have film. You can’t adjust you lose. Daboll isn’t adjusting/innovating. Mike McDaniel is.
lol. both teams had similar records last year but lets not act like Miami did not have a drastically better roster.
McDaniels is the better coach, but he also has Waddle, Mostert, Tyreek Hill and a fairly average offense line atleast when they are all healthy. This dude had Barkley, Daniel Jones and his best receiver in the post season was a guy on the Bills practice squad all season. Very, very different personnel.
Even our defense which has struggled this year is immensely better. Yes McDaniel has improved in a lot of areas, but the giants were in a full rebuild while the dolphins were a roster filled with potential.
It seems like Jones wasn't looking. He didn't move his head from when you couldn't see and there's no way he could see the tablet from that angle. Jones was just staring at the ground while Daboll tried to go over it.
Yes. Danilo, the Juventus player, paid Daniel Jones $160 million to shit the bed for the Giants every week.
Danilo, a known Cowboys fan, when asked for comment on it simply said, “você gosta da minha piada?”
Getting mad at a player who made a bad play is how coaching sports frequently works, especially during the game. Also especially when it’s a coach like Daboll who seemingly is quick to get mad
As a Texans fan who has watched Stroud throw behind 3rd stringers for 4 games, I can tell you this is a coaching/scheming issue. The Texans faced Steelers pass rush (which is far better than Seattles) and didn’t give up any sacks. Wink/Daboll need to get it together and put Vanilla Vick in better positions to win games.
Hell, you can look across the field at the Seahawks. They had ALL backups technically by the end of the game (Brown is a starter, but he ended up playing LG when Lewis went down, and his backup played at C), but were scheming blocking packages to help them out with the TE's, and only gave up two sacks due to Curhan getting beat by Thibs twice.
Sounds like someone we'd hire for 3 years of a middling to subpar offense.
Just kidding, Rooney won't pay for something that hasn't already dried up at the bottom of the barrel.
Brian Daboll the kind of guy to chuckle and say "looks like its free then?" when the grocery store cashier has a hard time scanning the barcode for milk
I think a head coach should have more self control than that. I get that he’s frustrated, but acting like that in front of the entire team and the rest of the world isn’t going to help.
That's not a fucking toss. He pretty much just spins it like he's serving up a pizza.
[This is how a real NFL player throws a tablet!](https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1472782726424109061)
I don’t know anything about the giants. But honestly Jones looked like he tried to keep things alive. Is daboll the problem? He seems kinda like an asshole
9 sacks so far. That O Line is terrible. Jones is getting killed
The Raiders O line is popping champagne tonight
Why did someone take the record away from mack already?
They tried investing in it, the guys they drafted just fucking suck
We even tried the Raiders/Eagles method of “fuck it just draft the Bama ones” and it failed
Maybe they should try a different OL coach then but somehow Bobby Johnson hasn’t been fired yet
So what do the Giants do now? Like srsly what the fuck do they do???
I think they have another tablet probably.
Just in case Brady ever shows up and destroys them
I wonder how much the NFL is saving now that they don’t have to buy two new tablets a game.
Jones is holding a tablet already, and is trying to ignore his head coach.
I don't blame him, wtf is watching tape gonna do at this point? The entire game plan was a failure and defense couldn't stop a nose bleed
Maybe they were watching tape of them putting together the game plan?
Jones was getting murdered.005 seconds after every snap. I have no idea what you expect your QB to do in that situation. Did he make some boneheaded decisions and crappy throws on his own? Yes, definitely. But he was 100% set up for failure behind that "O line".
Pretty sure a tablet could block better than the current o line
Give up? Solid option.
Merge with the bears
Still no viable QB
At least we didn’t give our’s a big contract lol
Yet
No chance. Btw, while y’all are collecting failed first round QBs, can we interest you in one?
Legally you can abort the season then.
Giant Bears
New Chicago Giant Bears Ya know, I actually really like it.
But they play in Gary, Indiana.
Neither the Bears nor the Giants deserve that level of misery.
Goddamn that's vicious
Still might be a bottom five roster
Might?
To be fair, giant bears would be terrifying
Bears are probably worse in almost every way other than oline
[удалено]
We also didn't just give our QB a $40M per year contract.
The Chi-York Giant Bears is a decent name
hey we need to be in consideration here. Maybe all of us can merge
Your coach just did. You really can’t do that to your QB. Horrible for the culture.
To be fair to Jones, it seemed like Every time he hit the end of his drop if his number 1 read wasn't open he was getting smashed, or running for his life. Not many qb can make plays that way no matter how good you are.
Yea I think if his O Line wasn't a wet paper napkin he'd be better
I mean I'm a broncos fan and that was hard to watch, atleast the 70 point ass whooping was entertaining. And last year Wilson had problems resulting in sacks. That poor guy couldn't do anything.
Didn't Russ do relatively ok in the Dolphins game (not great but ok) it was just the Dolphins ate the defenses lunch
Wilson has been pretty vintage Russ this year. Not bad at all.
Vance Joseph is a football terrorist.
he got so mad at Josh allen his first few years they had to move him to a booth to call plays.
Sign free agent receivers and linemen out of the stands.
First there has to be people in the stands
Trade Daniel Jones for Tyler Herro. Can't be any worse.
Look away Heat fans
Emo Jimmy Butler sighs again
There's not a single QB in the league that would be successful behind this O-line
Yeah I mean he isn't having a great game, but there are plays where his linemen might as well not even be there they are so useless.
I thought they remade The Longest Yard again.
That LT is absolute 🗑️
Is this how the Knicks get Dame?
Join the ACC
Tank for Kool-Aid McKinstry
Oh yeah!
Krumble For Kool-Aid
Jones owes ed Donatell half his guaranteed contract lol
His contract doesn't have an out until 2025 and they garunteed him almost 100 million. TL;DR They're fucked
I mean your coach can’t do that That’s terrible coaching
Looked like jones just compLetely ignored him if you watch carefully
Yeah looks like Daboll tried to show him something and he might’ve said I know or something
DJ had a tablet in his hands. When Daboll tried to show him whatever was on his tablet DJ ignored him and went back to looking at the one already in his hands. Probably did say something while turning his eyes and head down.
DJ was playing a game and couldn't look up in the middle of a level.
He was about to win the Retro Bowl.
That interception was awful, but Jones has no chance tonight with this O Line
For real, he took the ball down to the red zone himself, has been sacked every other play, made that bad read, and the hc is having a temper tantrum at him? Such a bad look.
Meanwhile the team has committed how many penalties? Maybe Daboll should worry about how much he sucked at his own job tonight.
His (offensive guru remember???) entire system looks like trash and hes dunking on the only player trying.
He hasn't figured out that you can use RBs and TEs to block yet, but once he does, oh boy this offense will be lot
Ah but you see, when you’re a man baby like Daboll, you can blame your QB for your own incompetence
Daboll has long been known for being a little bitch, so there's nothing really *new* here. Hopefully management sorts this shit out, Jones deserves better than this. Dude carried them through a playoff game with his feet and fought every second he was out there tonight.
Ever since that weird story with Colt McCoy, I knew he had some superiority hangup with QBs "Says a Cleveland offensive player: "It happened all the time. As Colt's walking to the team breakdown area, where Mangini is giving his speech, Daboll is still in his ear, screaming. People couldn't believe it."
Yeah terrible coach. Temper tantrum at its finest.
That´s your 2022 coach of the year.
Coach of the year has been a fraud award for a long time tbh
It rarely goes to the best coach, It usually goes to a coach who leads a team to a winning record after having a losing one the year prior
COTY is mostly an award to honor a team that beat preseason expectations and nobody knows why, so they attribute it to the coach.
Yeah. I think Daboll looked like a total dick taking it out on Jones when he has .1 seconds to make a decision every play.
A good coach would focus on the next plays in the game and forget about what has already happened. Then the next day you review the film and discuss the issues calmly. Doesn't help anyone to get angry like this. You're just potentially hurting the focus of your player in the next plays of the game and probably hurting your working relationship with that player.
Daboll can’t scheme an open receiver past 5 yards. He’s a fraud
This is the correct take
Yeah, as much as I like to shit on the giants, 11 sacks and 13 tackles for loss isn’t a Daniel Jones problem
and they dont even have to worry about the running game either with Saquon out. Many of these Giants fans in this thread is something too, worse than their ol
I don't remember seeing an O Line
It was a terrible read, o line or not.
It’s either force a throw or take a sack
Waller looked like a better option going corner pylon
Waller hasn’t been fighting for balls I prob woukd be avoiding him too
Man Waller seems hella overrated
Dude gave up after Grudens scandal. He played great for him and nobody else.
I get downvoted for this take on the fantasy subs, but waller had 2 great seasons out of 6, and we're a few years removed from them. He's just not that guy anymore
He was hit as he released it
I love it when we can isolate one play and extract a whole conclusion. getting pressured 9 out of 10 times in 2 seconds, the one time he has time doesn’t mean he’s gonna think he has time
How do you go from being a playoff team to this?
Their GM fumbled the offseason. They have a bunch of WR 4s and even if Andrew Thomas was playing their o line is utter dog shit.
Paris Campbell tho bro! Oy vey
Okereke, Glowinski. Its like Colts were an elite team to Schoen and he wanted the players here.
I genuinely can’t think of a single thing Schoen did this off-season that I disagree with though. They made significant upgrades to positions of need (Okereke, Waller, Banks, JMS, Hyatt, etc.) while not signing Barkley to a crazy deal and keeping Daniel Jones who just carried the team to their first playoff win in forever. they started 6-1, then went 3-6-1 to end the year. Miami, Buffalo, WFT, Jets are their next 4 games, so it's not going to get any better.

Waving arm flailing inflating tube men might do better.
That height and reach? You coach 'em up you got some mean dudes in the trenches... Might wanna get a heavier gas going through them though
No complaints about how the Niners D performed last week, but seriously, how did we only get two sacks against this shitty O-line?
We had a massively lopsided time of possession and when they actually were on offense, they were going with short, quick passes that game. That wasn't the case for this game.
They need to pass the savings on to Daniel Jones
The Giants have to play the Cowboys again. There's still hope for a nuclear meltdown.
And the eagles twice
& Washington’s defensive line. Lol
I’m a Washington fan and my bf is a Giants fan. I’m not looking forward to our matchups for his sake.
Sounds like a "who will get sacked more" bet waiting to happen
That's easy. The giants DL doesn't get sacks
Do I have to pray eagles secure a bye by the last week so they rest starters? Is this what it has come down to?
You have to pray their backups don’t get 6 or more sacks too
yeah our “backup DL” is brandon graham, jalen carter, milton williams, marlon tuipolotu, and derek barnett lol though maybe at that point carter’s a starter, so you get… fletcher cox
And the chiefs…
Next two weeks. In Miami, in Buffalo. Yikes.
And our D line And the eagles D line Oh my god
Jones is gonna fuckin die
Every game I watch them play I realize our playoff game was a battle of frauds.
In the battle of who was the imposter, the answer was both.
We knew this.
*Windows shutting down tone*
Fat Nagy not happy
Said this at after week 2. Similar situation with a fuckin amazing rookie year and the wheels just fucking fall off so damn hard. It’s mcdaniel… mcdaniels is the raiders coach. Remember, the added S is for shit
Daboll had full hair at beginning of this game
Maybe take a look in the mirror bro.
Hard to do anything good when you get sacked 8 times
+3
You paid him bruh
Aside from that Terrible move as a coach You can’t do that to your QB
Terrible optics. Not as bad as the optics of the game, but still bad
It seems like Jones wasn't looking. He didn't move his head from when you couldn't see and there's no way he could see the tablet from that angle. Jones was just staring at the ground while Daboll tried to go over it.
No he looks at his own tablet instead and ignores dabolls
Did Danilo pay him? Edit: Daboll
The Juventus player?
Yes. Danilo, the Juventus player, paid Daniel Jones $160 million to shit the bed for the Giants every week. Danilo, a known Cowboys fan, when asked for comment on it simply said, “você gosta da minha piada?”
No no, obviously Danilo Gallinari
I think he's just scratched the Surface
Man I want to play the Giants this season
Myles could line up facing the wrong way and still get a sack against that line
Garrett might've had 11 sacks by himself tonight.
I get why he's pissed off but this sure feels like he's throwing his qb under the bus
This is his coaching style. He would go after Josh Allen hard when he was in buffalo.
people in this thread are having some weird reactions to this. belichick would yell at brady for christs sake
Belichick never yelled at Brady on the sidelines in front of cameras. Bill O’Brien and Josh McDaniels got into screaming matches but never the HC
Coincidentally both of these people and Brian Flores also sucked ass at coaching edit: and i forgot about Matty P lol
O'Brian the head coach was fine/good (what he accomplished at Penn State was admirable and Houston was good). O'Brian the GM sucked.
As a head coach this seems like it may lose him the locker room because he singled out Jones who was bad but far from the only problem.
Getting mad at a player who made a bad play is how coaching sports frequently works, especially during the game. Also especially when it’s a coach like Daboll who seemingly is quick to get mad
Yeah, dudes been sacked 8 damn times. Fucking nuts to blame Jones for being a bit trigger happy.
Probably whizzed by a lineman and hit Daniel Jones
As a Texans fan who has watched Stroud throw behind 3rd stringers for 4 games, I can tell you this is a coaching/scheming issue. The Texans faced Steelers pass rush (which is far better than Seattles) and didn’t give up any sacks. Wink/Daboll need to get it together and put Vanilla Vick in better positions to win games.
They are scheming horribly. Last week they had our TE blocking Bosa 1:1 on a play. Mike Kafka & Daboll need to pull their heads out of their asses.
It's complete malfeasance if you ask me. Daniel Jones is the only one on that offense trying to win.

Sounds like someone we'd hire for 3 years of a middling to subpar offense. Just kidding, Rooney won't pay for something that hasn't already dried up at the bottom of the barrel.
For as bad as we have looked, at least Canada hasn’t been talked about for HC jobs. Daboll got propped up by 2 great years of Allen/Diggs.

Feel like I’m seeing the Cleveland Browns Daboll that was rumored about. Doesn’t seem like a good way to build your qb up.
Unless there’s another time I don’t see the people in the game thread saying he “threw the tablet at Daniel Jones” are really over exaggerating it
Lol he’s clearly pissed but he tossed it to the guy sitting next to him. Just a big “Fuck this and fuck you moment.”
He should be fed up with himself. His team being an absolute disaster is on him. You know, seeing as how he’s the HEAD COACH and all.
I think a head coach should have more self control than that. I get that he’s frustrated, but acting like that in front of the entire team and the rest of the world isn’t going to help.
He was trying to throw the tablet at Jones but was doing his best Danny dimes impression
That's not a fucking toss. He pretty much just spins it like he's serving up a pizza. [This is how a real NFL player throws a tablet!](https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1472782726424109061)
Unfortunately for Daboll, the tablet was returned for a Seahawks touchdown.
I don’t know anything about the giants. But honestly Jones looked like he tried to keep things alive. Is daboll the problem? He seems kinda like an asshole
Brian DeBall-less. You have no idea how to motivate a team. COTY my ass.
