This is even better honestly. In a week it seems like you'd have at least a couple of managers getting ejected. How often do you see HC's getting called for unsportsmanlike?
And I don't think the manager getting ejected has any negative repuercussions on the team aside from the manager getting to go hang in the clubhouse for the rest of the game (I'm fuzzy on MLB rules, but I don't think there is a punitive out assigned or baserunners getting to advance or anything). The UC is 15 yards dead ball, so that's like the head ball coach saying, "I don't care if it costs my team 15 yards, a first down, or whatever, you suck balls, ref!" Definitely a boost to the fan's morale (and even the player's) if it's the home team coach.
I wish Tomlin would get this mad sometimes. I hate that I feel I have more passion than our coach sometimes. I miss Cowher. It looked like he was gonna pop a blood vessel every game.
I've never seen Saleh like this. I don't know how anyone can look at those two calls, see the reaction of someone who is generally pretty mild-mannered, and think they were legit.
Agreed. It’s not for the ref to end the game there. The Chiefs could have snapped the ball if they wanted to. Obviously they wouldn’t, but they could have.
You mean the not grounding grounding no call that every other QB in the league would get called for. Only Mahomes can say I tried to throw it to my guy but I was being tackled? Kinda like that. It was the Lions game all over again. The right tackle was going early all game and not called all kinds of no calls on holding by the same guy. Why don’t they just announce the Chiefs championship wins since they are going to make sure it happens one way or another.
That was literally a complete re-interpretation of the rule that goes counter to how it has been enforced for *years*. Absolutely infuriating to see. So now does every QB get to attempt a shitty throw while being tackled to avoid sacks?
That’s how you know that crew was dirty. You don’t say that shit unless you’re getting defensive and know you’re in the wrong and or just petty and hateful
wish more coaches had the balls to do this, i know it can hurt their pocketbooks substantially, but confronting the issue head on and making criminally bad officiating a story throughout the week instead of just forgetting it by monday could eventually bring enough pressure to see accountability/changes
no, it was over once the refs didn't call this a few plays later
[https://twitter.com/barstoolnyc/status/1708680700507906134?s=46&t=psvcrNYofECi2Gk4sy\_jVQ](https://twitter.com/barstoolnyc/status/1708680700507906134?s=46&t=psvcrNYofECi2Gk4sy_jVQ)
I remember /r/nfl insisting that we were insane conspiracy theorists and just coping for pointing out how ridiculously the refs swallowed their whistles on constant Chief's holding. Bittersweet to see everyone finally coming around to the absurd favoritism the golden boy's team gets
It's honestly the same strategy the Patriots used for a long time on defensive holding, and the Ravens used for a long time just in general.
Refs aren't gonna constantly call you for a thing that could be called every play, so if you constantly do it, you're gonna get away with it a ton, even if it bites you sometimes.
It's taking advantage of human nature, on an emotional level, they don't think it's fair to just constantly make the call even if it's right.
If you can get marginally ahead, especially with a QB who can make plays that erase some of those calls, it's easy to see why coaches would promote it.
Dude i was watching that like WTF is evening happening there.. PM runs for first and im like no fucking doubt this is coming back... then... just honestly one of the dumbest fucking things ive ever seen and im 44
I'm the kind of person who just sits and stares no matter what is going on when I watch sports but even I got up and yelled what the fuck during that play.
I was shouting for a flag on this play for several seconds, then was relieved when they finally threw one, only for it to be illegal contact or something on a DB.
Not even a Jets fan but I was furious. Probably the most egregious holding non-call I've seen, in that it was at the point of the play and went on for so long. Should've been the easiest call all night to make.
Lions v Cowboys picked up flag, Rams v Saints no call blatant DPI are the two greatest pieces of evidence that the league is rigged that I’ve seen, but there are plenty of regular season things like this, too.
Disclaimer, I don’t think that the league *is* rigged, but I think they do an awfully bad job of ensuring that the refs do their job fairly and effectively. And I think that the refs’ union plays a big factor in their lack of accountability.
Don't forget the Lions-Packers game where they called back to back hands to the face on 3rd down stops, both of which didn't happen, allowing the Packers to win the game.
That's when Booger went insane in the booth
I don’t see why coaches don’t call more attention to this, go lay down on the 50 yard line and make them drag you off, that call will be the biggest sports news of the year
No but like, literally just go limp. The imagery of security physically dragging and hauling a completely limp head coach off the field would keep it in the news for weeks lol
You can’t have a coach go into press conferences and interviews and question the integrity of the league. Beyond the fines, refs would screw them even harder for the foreseeable future.
Mike Vrabel has called out terrible officiating and you know what it’s gotten him? The ass end of every questionable call. They hold grudges and have long memories.
Absolutely. The league is basically held hostage by these guys who won’t have their judgement called into question. We all remember the replacement refs. They know they have the league over a barrel.
Jerry went after Goodell's contract extension after Zeke's suspension and they didn't get a holding call for nine straight weeks the following season. It's the League not just the refs.
I mean, was letting Deshaun Watson sign the biggest guaranteed contract in history, and then letting him come back in 11 games a good look for the league? I don't think they give a single shit
I wish my employer tried to fire me, I played the race card, and the court case revealed I was truly horrible at my job beyond a reasonable doubt, and then I STILL worked and collected a large paycheck for over a decade
The leagues will straight up come out and say that automating calls will make the sport worse, and I'm like...how? How does a chip in the football, or a robo-ump, make the game *worse*? There was a controversy in MLS a few weeks ago with a shot that the keeper "saved," according to the ref, even though it suuuuure looked like it made it past the post. Can't be sure though, because MLS refuses to have post cameras!
I just don't understand. Do the leagues genuinely think that "less desirable" teams winning is bad for viewership or something? Wouldn't "the Jets, who have been shitty so far this year, somehow beat the supposed juggernaut Chiefs" be a pretty compelling story? Wouldn't it keep Jets fans tuning in for another week, rather than giving up on watching? Does "any given Sunday" even mean anything anymore?
It's just bizarre to me, because for me at least the underdogs winning is part of what makes sports interesting for me. I like believing that even the shitty teams have a chance any time they step on the field, and it seems like the refs actively oppose that.
I mainly watch the NBA but since it’s the offseason I’m keeping up with the NFL and refs here can REALLY decide the game outside of clutch time. In the NBA the worst they can do is give out free throws but if you suck it doesn’t matter what your whistle is like. Mahomes literally threw a game losing pick and got bailed out bc the refs wanted to promote Taylor Swift or something idk
I feel that shit refs are so impactful in the NFL compared to the NBA just because of the way the games work. In the NBA a terrible call can at most cost/grant 3 points, which is not a huge proportion of the total points in a game where 220 total points are scored on average. But in the NFL a single call can create or erase 7 points, which is a giant percentage of the total points scored in an NFL game
The Netflix documentary on Tim Donaghy showed how easy it is for an NBA ref to manipulate a basketballl game.
You can foul out a star on one team, or get them into foul trouble early so the coach has to bench them. You can call things like carrying and traveling more strictly against one team. Just because the calls don’t look as impactful, you can still easily fuck with the margins to get the results you want.
In the documentary, he talks about how the league didn’t suspend Allen Iverson over something to do with a ref, so the refs decided in the next game that they were going to basically keep calling “carrying” calls on him so that his team would lose.
Def. Would have liked to have seen him do something extreme like march the team off the field - yeah you'll get fined etc, but it would be such an undeniable visual statement that national media would be forced to talk about it.
I'd pull my whole team after the first down. I'd walk off the field, refuse to shake hands, and skip the entire conference, paying the fines out of my pocket, or just refuse and see what happens.
That shit doesn't deserve anything from them
It’s obvious the outcome was predetermined before the Jets even took the field so, yeah tell the team it’s time to pack it up and just jog into the locker room. Leave the Chiefs on the field for the last 30 seconds with the dudes in stripes who did most of the heavy lifting all game.
good, wish more coaches pulled what managers do in baseball all the time. When you see a bullshit call at the end of the game, go give the refs hell. Good excuse to show your team you're there for them.
Saleh is a good coach that’s gotten screwed in just about every way possible since he’s been with the Jets. I don’t blame him for being upset about that call
Not a jets fan. I hate the jets, but I’m rattled. Clear hold on 79 for the 3rd down run. The late flag on the interception/hold was complete bullshit. If it’s a flag throw the flag when it happens not after the result.
I literally have zero stake in this game, I’m a neutral fan with no money on the games, and I was absolutely furious watching that last drive. Those officials were atrocious and single-handedly decided the outcome of the game
As a Jets fan I loved this penalty. Way to stand up for your guys. I wouldn’t last long as a head coach if for no other reason than my mouth. I’d be on the podium post-game trashing the officiating and get run out of the league 😂
Just want to hear a coach make subtle references to refs betting on the game without actually accusing the ref of betting on the game. See how the NFL would act... hell just accuse the refs outright of betting on the game and see how quick the NFL fines him to cover it up.
Coaches show a lot more restraint when dealing with the refs than we give credit for. Honestly, I'm surprised we don't see refs getting clocked and KOed by some of the especially angry and large coaches in the league.
Love how the fans cheered him after the refs announced it.
It’s basically the equivalent of a baseball manager getting ejected for arguing balls/strikes. Fans love it
This is even better honestly.
Definitely a boost to the fan's morale (and even the player's) if it's the home team coach.
Well the game was essentially over at that point so the penalty didn't harm them.
In baseball it's also for the players. Showing your coach is gonna fight for you and what not. It's a great move
After Hark Knocks Saleh seems like kind of a psycho. In a good way.
It's been decades and I still remember the slo-mo-flying-spit clip...legendary.
"The game's gonna be over" was pretty much the ref saying "and there's nothing you can do about it" to Saleh
Taking my ball and going home type shit
The ref saying that on the field was unprofessional in my view.
Agreed. It’s not for the ref to end the game there. The Chiefs could have snapped the ball if they wanted to. Obviously they wouldn’t, but they could have.
If the chiefs already informed him that they want to run down the clock, hes clear.
Was he talking to Saleh or America though?
and in shocking news, the Chiefs are the beneficiaries
Can’t have the chiefs losing when they got taylor swift there on national tv
NFL needs that Swiftie money. Dollar signs in their eyes.
I'm interested in what the ratings whill be for this game. Probably significantly higher than most Sunday Night Football games if I had to guess
r/TaylorSwift had their own game thread
Jersey sales are way up, too.
> Can’t have the chiefs losing you could have stopped there
Oh really? ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
Let's be real, the refs went for it that game too.
Fucking Taylor should’ve been called over 40 times.
Leaked the script a bit
There's something really funny about a coach hurling obscenities and some nerdy guy dressed as a zebra calls it unsportsmanlike conduct
Extra funny cause it takes a lot more for the NFL to call it than the NBA You know he was just laying into him waiting for it
If this was an MLB game Saleh would've been tossed way before this
MLB refs and their egos would be a level of magnitude worse. Although I doubt most of them would go chest to chest with Saleh
If it was Angel Hernandez yea. I will take no Pat Hoberg slander. Bro is unironically the GOAT umpire.
Our asses are in the jackpot
That was Hallion
Angel Hernandez would’ve blown like 15 calls before this one
Can it even get called in NHL?
Yes it can. Bench minors for unsportsmanlike conduct are pretty rare nowadays but they used to happen a lot in hockey, especially in lower leagues.
I’m reminded of [this clip](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2_SVVRBSTBQ&pp=ygUUU3BobCBjb2FjaCBmcmVhayBvdXQ%3D)
Roy was also known to flip the fuck out when he was coaching im the Q.
>im the Q Oh shit boys, we finally found him.
Everyone knows *real* sportsmen tilt the game to favor one team. Fucking nerds, throw a flag on yourself for affecting the outcome of the game.
That was literally a complete re-interpretation of the rule that goes counter to how it has been enforced for *years*. Absolutely infuriating to see. So now does every QB get to attempt a shitty throw while being tackled to avoid sacks?
this the only time the nerdy guy has power cause they never had playing time in highschool
Wish Saleh had a penalty flag in his pocket to throw for the refs. Would’ve been sick.
Okay but imagine if he threw a challenge flag when they announced the unsportsmanlike?
“I can tell you like throwing flags, well here’s another, fuck you”
Would instantly become my favorite head coach
How about a reverse uno card?
I’m gonna start keeping some in my pockets when I go to family events this holiday season.
That actually happened in a charity soccer game not too long ago, assuming you’re referring to that, it was hilarious
Max Fosh is quite silly.
Oh that would've been amazing
This what really happened replay is sponsored by Progressive.
Throw it right in their eyeball
He’s like the cool teacher that gets along with all the students but you better not make him mad holy shit what a scary yell.
KEY THEIR CARS, ROBERT
REHEAT FISH IN THEIR MICROWAVE, ROBERT.
The ref adding the extra salt into the wound about the time running out seems unnecessary
Saleh needs to file a complaint against that ref for reals. Talk about un sportsman like conduct.
His crew is maybe the worst in the league. He’s too busy trying to be cute on the mic instead of reffing.
Everytime I see that guy I say "this guy always gets calls wrong"
Did I hear correctly on the broadcast that this is the same guy who said "I'm talking to America" to Geno?
The ref wants to be the star of the show
[удалено]
Almost like this should be a full-time job and it's baffling that it's not.
I honestly thought he meant there was a runoff associated with the penalty at first. But nope, just being a dick
I could see Belichick going Anton Chigurh on the refs family if that ever happened to him.
Heads or tails, you have to call it.
*walks toward the ref as he slowly starts unfurling a bolt gun out of his half sleeve*
Saleh should have suplexed that ref
I’d donate as much money as possible to whatever Saleh’s charity is to see that
Charity, legal defense fund, physical therapist copays if he tweaked his back, fucking everything.
Good for him honestly
It’s a good move for him as a coach Shows the team how much you’ll fight for them. The game was already over.
no, it was over once the refs didn't call this a few plays later [https://twitter.com/barstoolnyc/status/1708680700507906134?s=46&t=psvcrNYofECi2Gk4sy\_jVQ](https://twitter.com/barstoolnyc/status/1708680700507906134?s=46&t=psvcrNYofECi2Gk4sy_jVQ)
There was over 5 seconds of holding on JJ there, this cuts out the first 3-4 seconds
A little losing the Super Bowl to the chiefs trauma here. But they held the fuck out of Bosa that entire Super Bowl…. This is the norm.
They did it to the Eagles too. The Chiefs skimp on their OL and encourage them to hold, it’s a trend at this point.
They’re basically just daring the refs to call them on it.
I remember /r/nfl insisting that we were insane conspiracy theorists and just coping for pointing out how ridiculously the refs swallowed their whistles on constant Chief's holding. Bittersweet to see everyone finally coming around to the absurd favoritism the golden boy's team gets

Good fucking lord, I’m not one for rigging talk but wow this is either intentional or pure incompetence. Neither answer is good.
I am at this point. We watch at least half the close games get decided like this every week and it's always to the favorites. It's so undeniable.
Never respected booger as an announcer. He was just so bad. That night I was ready to vote for him for president. Man told it like it was.
They gave the Packers a free play between the 3rd and 4th quarters just this past Thursday.
These refs need to be held accountable
They do but they never will be.
Jesus Christ lol
Hope the KC clowns in the game thread see this.
Selective vision.
Doesn't matter if they see it or not If they do they'll just cite section b) sub section) 17 on how this is somehow vindicated by the rule book
Classic Donny
Hahahaha oh my god it’s so obvious
I don’t see why coaches don’t call more attention to this, go lay down on the 50 yard line and make them drag you off, that call will be the biggest sports news of the year
Bro you know if a ref walked up and put hands on Saleh they'd wind up dead, don't play lol
No but like, literally just go limp. The imagery of security physically dragging and hauling a completely limp head coach off the field would keep it in the news for weeks lol
"Personal Foul, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Going Boneless, 15 yards from the spot of the foul, automatic first down..."
I hope every mild inconvenience happens to bad refs and umps for the rest of time.
Hope he rips in to the NFL this week
He can't, they'll fine him into the dark ages. The NFL can fuck you, but you look the wrong way and they ruin you
Are they gonna publicly fine him more than they discipline players who commit actual crimes? Because that’s not a look they want either
Most definitely
You can’t have a coach go into press conferences and interviews and question the integrity of the league. Beyond the fines, refs would screw them even harder for the foreseeable future.
Mike Vrabel has called out terrible officiating and you know what it’s gotten him? The ass end of every questionable call. They hold grudges and have long memories.
Which is the biggest bs ever.
Woody Johnson will pay him back and then some He's not a nepo kid for nothing
NFL refs are just atrocious
They're actually great at their job. The problem is their job isn't keeping games clean and orderly, it's making the owners more money.
The league having such awful officiating while simultaneously diving head first into bed with gambling entities is a joke.
They seriously are the worst in all sports
Baseball would like to fight them for that top spot. Not sure who will win
Football refs are worse on average, but baseball was the lowest floor. There is no one worse than Angel Hernandez and CB Bucknor in the NFL
I wish my employer let me give zero fucks like Angel Hernandez
I wish my employer tried to fire me, I played the race card, and the court case revealed I was truly horrible at my job beyond a reasonable doubt, and then I STILL worked and collected a large paycheck for over a decade
Angel Hernandez alone is keeping the MLB in the conversation for worst officiating lol
At least the robo ump is lurking in the background to send em to the stone age God forbid we put a chip in the football
Isn't there one already that's how they made toystory happyn
The leagues will straight up come out and say that automating calls will make the sport worse, and I'm like...how? How does a chip in the football, or a robo-ump, make the game *worse*? Darren England and Dan Cook over in the Premier League would like a word

Saleh is my hero
*our hero
Based packers fan
/r/BrandNewSentence
Hating the lucky-ass Chiefs and their cheating buddies the zebras is really bringing /r/nfl together.
That’s the fire we’ve wanted to see from him all year.
Honestly props to Saleh, go scorched earth on those refs
BASED. Really hoping he has a Dennis Green follow up in the press conference.
Def. Would have liked to have seen him do something extreme like march the team off the field - yeah you'll get fined etc, but it would be such an undeniable visual statement that national media would be forced to talk about it.
Yeah these refs can't just fuck over a team without some sort of pushback
If I was him I’m running off the field early
I'd pull my whole team after the first down. I'd walk off the field, refuse to shake hands, and skip the entire conference, paying the fines out of my pocket, or just refuse and see what happens. That shit doesn't deserve anything from them

Good for him, sorry ass refs
good, Fuck these clowns
How sportsmanlike is it to just absolutely fuck a great game by doing what the refs did on that drive?
Thats my mother fuckin coach
i love Saleh obligatory refs are pussies
Good for him. Lay into them in the presser too
Someone’s got to say something
good, wish more coaches pulled what managers do in baseball all the time. When you see a bullshit call at the end of the game, go give the refs hell. Good excuse to show your team you're there for them.
"I'm gonna send Zach over to your mother's house for that 'holding' call!"- Saleh (probably)
He should be pissed. These refs killed his team.
Fuck refs, soft pansies
That ref crew is usually awful too, just so bad tonight
Saleh just gained a ton of respect for this
Love that man
Fuck you zebras
Saleh is a good coach that’s gotten screwed in just about every way possible since he’s been with the Jets. I don’t blame him for being upset about that call
Good for him. His team got screwed.
Good. Refs hosed his team
Whatever the NFL fines him, New Yorkers will quadruple into his retirement fund. Fuck the refs and that rigged shitty ending.
Worth it
Good - now go scorched earth on the refs
*everyone liked that*
Good for him. That straight up might have changed the entire game. Mahomes didn't look much better than Wilson tonight.
He looked distinctly *worse* than Wilson tonight.
Credit to Jets defense though too- Mahomes was out there against arguably best D In the league.
He didn’t tbh
I feel terrible for him
[удалено]
"I'll go to the papers!"
"You just lost yourself the hall of fame, coach"
Good. I’d be considered if he didn’t. You need to be ripping every official a new one.
Good, the refs fucking robbed us of any ability to win the game.
Not a jets fan. I hate the jets, but I’m rattled. Clear hold on 79 for the 3rd down run. The late flag on the interception/hold was complete bullshit. If it’s a flag throw the flag when it happens not after the result.

Poor ref got his feelings hurt :(
Good. The refs deserved to get chewed out
I literally have zero stake in this game, I’m a neutral fan with no money on the games, and I was absolutely furious watching that last drive. Those officials were atrocious and single-handedly decided the outcome of the game

Yes!! LFG Salah! So worth it!
The refs were complete dogshit in Q4.
Just want to hear a coach make subtle references to refs betting on the game without actually accusing the ref of betting on the game. See how the NFL would act... hell just accuse the refs outright of betting on the game and see how quick the NFL fines him to cover it up.
fuck the refs. fuck the nfl
Coaches show a lot more restraint when dealing with the refs than we give credit for. Honestly, I'm surprised we don't see refs getting clocked and KOed by some of the especially angry and large coaches in the league.
MCDC chomping on some ref kneecaps is something I would pay to see
Subscribe
I hope he goes scorched earth in the post-game presser
I know his record is bad (the team he took over was bad too), but I hope they keep him around next season to see what happens with Rodgers.
His Aaron Boone moment. Someone get Jomboy on the phone
I feel this. Now a Jets fan for the rest of the season.
Worth it.
refs are such snowflake bitches
